So I was here on a bar crawl mission and I happened to stumble across this because it was on the list. I like the spot, it's very open so if it's a nice day it's very good. The bar is pretty big and they have an upstairs area so if you want to sit now you can do that as well. You'll come here and it's right on the main Street but you have to worry about parking however you can. I've been here a couple times for various networking events. The interior has a very industrial look with cement floors and Metal chairs. The staff was friendly and allowed sampling before making a selection. They were able to make recommendations of the variety of beers they had on tap. This is one of the areas best breweries based on how great all their beer tastes and how large their selection is, especially for a small, local establishment. Their lager is especially good and my favorite on especially warm days. It has more body that you would expect from a lager but still goes down quick when it's hot out. They also have some quirky brews that are unique and quite tasty. My favorite is called Hardwood Floors, it's a Scottish Ale with coffee. Sounds weird but it's really good. The service here is always excellent with bartenders that are friendly and very knowledgeable about the beer. If you're eager to give one of the options a try, they'll be happy to pour you a small sample so you can "test drive" before you buy a pint. The ambiance is always upbeat and cheerful with everyone having a good time with friends and family while enjoying great beer. Plenty of outdoor seating and it's dog friendly. Gate City Brewing Co is a beer-only establishment which works out fine because you are a very short walking distance from several great restaurants. When I meet friends in Roswell for dinner, Gate City is always the starting point and we decided where to eat while drinking beer. Parking can be a bit of a challenge in this area and you'll want to enjoy several beers so I would suggest grabbing a Uber if you don't have a DD. read more

My friends and I walked in and were promptly greeted by the bartender. Seated at the bar, we perused the drink list. I was delighted to find a selection of mocktail holiday drinks to choose from. From the mocktail menu, I started with the Lazy Mile, which was excellent, and then tried the Spruce Tip, which was also quite refreshing. The ambiance is adorned with Christmas decorations, creating a festive setting perfect for socializing with friends. The upstairs features full tables and TVs, while the lower level boasts a patio deck. Regarding , parking, there's street parking or a parking lot that you can choose from. Knowing that we would be in the area for a while, I opted for the flat rate of $10.45 for the whole day for the convenience. I honestly don't like leaving bad reviews. Mainly because it is so hard to start and run a successful business.. This place has great craft beer, and pretty good atmosphere. So what could possibly be wrong. All i did wrong was to sit on the side of the stage with my son and enjoy the atmosphere and people with a beer. When a young man demanded that we move away from the stage. There was a sign, that I didn't notice. But why would this mustache little guy think he can talk to me in an aggressive, demanding manner? Especially in front of my son??? His entire job is good customer service and communication! He said he was a manager, so he's in charge here. What a joke. Instead of having a polite conversation with just a point of finger to the sign and a smile. He thought he could treat me like that. If you'd like to be taken to like a child and in a demeaning manner, go right ahead. Nothing wrong with this place. However, if you have standards. Ok a brewery that has something for everyone? This place has a split building one half with an entrance on Canton street, and the other half is on the back side, behind the Brewing area and down a hill with a stage and all. I hope to come back soon because my drinks were great. They have games upstairs and long tables so it is great for a date night or for groups. As anyone who as ever been to Canton Street is aware, parking is limited, so if you wanted to pay to park the main parking lot is right in front of their brewing center, usually $10 but the price changes, $5 after 10 pm. This is a quick service type of place so you order at the bar and likely won't see a server around to help you. Keep that in mind if you're wanting full service, because this place is great but it requires getting up to order. read more

Very much a hangout trendy and lively spot, Gate City is nothing like the typical brewery. They boast a stage for live music and a huge TV for sports. There are multiple areas to check out. Lift your spirits at the Artillery Room for craft cocktails above the stage. They were hosting a private event so I couldn't check it out. There is a ton of room outside the main tasting room and another building called The Back House, which has tables and another set of taps. The staff was friendly; however, I felt like the interaction was more about the sale and less about the product. More of a production line feel than most breweries. I tried the Brewers Soul Black IPA It's ROASTY and smooth with Just the right amount of coffee bitterness. It has a slightly smoky nose. I will say, this is a very popular spot and I would go back with a date or a group but I wouldn't visit rolling solo. read more

A sprawling complex with a Main Street entrance with cocktails, a downstairs beer den, and an outbuilding (with AC, very important in summer), there is something for everyone here! We had a date night and got to experience both the Artillery Room and the brewery downstairs. 5 stars for friendly staff... shoutout to Rebecca who was working at the Artillery room, where we started our night. She helped us understand the menu, gave great recommendations and was just wonderful to chat with. I ended up trying the pre-made cocktail flight which was a great price. Unfortunately I wasn't a huge fan of the pre-made cocktails, but it is a brewery so that's okay! I did enjoy an old fashion that she made for me first! So the artillery room has many great options for cocktails! On to the downstairs brewery! I loved the open space and all of the seating options. My husband and I spent less time down here but did enjoy trying a few of the beers. It is dog friendly and there are games you can play while enjoying your time. There's an upstairs and downstairs. If you want beer you go downstairs. For cocktails you stay in the street level. The downstairs area is huge the place opens up to the outside and then there's tables everywhere. It's also kids friendly and dog friendly. They also have a little stage down there. When we went they had a huge screen with the football game on. We also went upstairs to try the cocktails and the bartender made the best Moscow mule. read more

Pretty hoppin' spot in downtown Roswell! We stopped in for drinks after a dry wedding earlier that afternoon and were satisfied! Parking is tough. You can park right outside but you'll have to pay $5. There is some limited free street parking options close by but you will have to walk a few minutes to get to the brewery, if you don't mind! Plenty of beer choices on draft, from sours to saisons to IPAs... anyway, something for everyone. It was particularly hot that day and they had big fans going to try to cool us down. It wasn't doing such a great job, but the ice cold beers helped. The open garage concept didn't help in the summer heat. You can order in various pour amounts, which is nice when you just want to taste a beer versus commit to one. Not a ton of seating but if you dally and hover long enough you might be able to snag a couple seats or share the communal tables. If I'm in the area again, I wouldn't mind stopping in to try another Gate City Brew on tap! read more

The good: large space with lots of seating and open access to the bar. Large menu that makes it easy to see the beer selection even if you're standing pretty far back. This place was pretty busy with an eclectic crowd when I went on a Saturday afternoon. It is convenient to large pay-for-parking lots. The not so good: I personally didn't like any of the beers I tried. It being Roswell, you pretty much have to pay for parking (it is what it is). Some of the descriptions didn't seem to accurately describe the beers in question (frustrating!) To sum up: Check out the beer menu before you come here. My friends and I stopped in at Gate City while in Atlanta for the weekend. It's in the town of Roswell which is absolutely adorable! They've got a neat garage type building with two other buildings in the same area with picnic tables in between. The bartender told us that they were going to have a cocktail lounge in the building that was under construction. We ordered a flight which was neat becuase they had a few vodka based drinks on tap! It was cool to be able to have a cocktail on our beer flight. We enjoyed the beer and the cocktail, my favorite was Golden Ember which is a white stout. I'm not usually a white stout fan but this one was great! We also tried a Norwegian IPA which was new to all of us! This was definitely a place I'd make a point to stop back in if I'm ever back in town. read more

Gate City Brewing is located on the convenient side of Canton Street (before you hit all the traffic) in Downtown Roswell. There is a big parking area beside it (typically $5 to park). You can find free parking in this area (right off Roswell Rd further down in a dirt parking lot) and other free parking, but I won't divulge that bc then you'll take my favorite spot to park . Truth be told, I didn't have interest to come here after hearing about it from my Craft Brew Educated buddies. I came here on a whim bc my best girl friend and her friend were here and invited me out. I had very low expectations. So, I arrived and realized that their entertaining area was down a story on the side of the building and not in the taproom. When I walked down the road on the side of the building, I came upon a big party scene. Tons of people, picnic tables, covered and outdoor seating, huge TVs televising the United game, and corn hole. It was also very East Cobb-ish. Not much of any diversity here. However, certainly some very beautiful women to look at. So, beers, you say? Yes, they have that! I started off with the "Das ist Gut" Pilsner. Very good, certainly delivered. They have a smaller size pour and large pour here. I also had their "Fast Fjord", which I believe was an IPA but an IPA I could actually drink. Their dunkel beer was amazing and so was the pumpkin porter. So, my friends were wrong, WRONG, about the selection and taste here (which I promptly told them the following day). They need a stout, but I would certainly recommend them after my visit. Planning to go back again, and pricing wasn't bad AT ALL for this side of Roswell. read more

We held our annual company summer party this year at Gate City Brewing Company in historic downtown Roswell. Gate City is located just off downtown Roswell's main drag, Canton Street. It's next door to and shares a parking lot with Pastis Restaurant and Bar. Our party took place on a Saturday, late afternoon/early evening. Parking in the Gate City/Pastis lot cost $5. There was a parking attendant. Next door, there was another parking attendant charging $3 to park in the Wells Fargo lot. Limited free parking (about 20-30 spots) is available in a smaller lot, accessible via Mimosa Boulevard, behind Gate City and next to Wells Fargo. There are also 17 free spots along Mimosa Boulevard (street parking) between Magnolia Street and Webb Street. Gate City is named after one of Atlanta's nicknames, "The Gate City." I'd never heard of this nickname after living in Atlanta for 18 years. I've always known Greensboro, North Carolina to be Gate City. This is a fairly spacious, two-story brewery. When we visited, the lower level of the brewery, which is mostly hidden from street view, was very busy. It was a happening place. The setup was open-air with people standing both inside and out, as well as sitting at communal picnic tables. Our party took place inside Gate City's private event space which is a separate freestanding structure on the back side of the property. The private event space has its own bar with beers on tap, a single unisex restroom, and three retractable garage doors. The space essentially feels like a big garage. Seating consisted of a long counter-height table and several highboy tables. Three different kinds of draft beer were served. We worked with Grier Donald of Spirited Event Group, who is Gate City's special events contact, to book the space. She sent us Spirited Event Group's list of recommend vendors. For our party, I booked 4 Rivers Smokehouse, who was on the recommended vendors list, to cater the food and provide a bartender to serve wine and liquor that we provided (in addition to beer sold and served by Gate City). Somewhere along the way, there was a miscommunication. 4 Rivers brought plenty of staff, but none of them were licensed bartenders. Gate City required a licensed bartender to serve wine and liquor. Since 4 Rivers didn't bring a licensed bartender (and have none on staff as far as I now know), we ended up having no wine or liquor served at our party; only beer was served. While in the grand scheme of things, this wasn't a huge deal, it was definitely an annoyance/inconvenience. I'm not placing the "blame" on Gate City and Spirited Event Group, but I do think they need to make clear with all of their recommended vendors what Gate City's requirements are. When choosing an event venue's "recommended vendor" or "approved caterer," you should not run into any problems like this. It was disappointing. Along with 4 Rivers, we also hired Atlanta Special Events to set up some casino tables (blackjack, craps, roulette) inside Gate City's private event space as well as some live entertainment (a couple singers from The Rat Pack Tribute Show). The garage doors to Gate City's private event space were closed for most of the time we were there. Combined with the singers' two large speakers and the echoey acoustics of the high-ceilinged, garage-like space, it was very loud inside. It was hard to hear each other speak; we almost had to shout every time. And for a party with roughly 50-70 attendees plus vendors/staff, it was cozy. In the end, a good time was had. We went at 4:30 on a Sunday. We were about to find a table. Tables are spaced out to allow for social distancing. They also have signs on the tables asking customers not to move them. They have plenty of tables outside and inside. Even inside didn't feel too inside-y because they opened all the garage doors so there was a lot of air circulation. Employees were wearing masks, but they didn't require them for customers. I wish they would require masks for customers when they're not at their tables. They have a wide selection of beers. We got the Oktoberfest and Brewer's Soul, both seasonal beers. They were good! They even have a cider, for those who don't like beer! We'll be back. We recommend! read more

The owner just sat at the table and stared at me and didn't even come over to say hello...... There beers are comparable with any other brewery in the area... I sat here and got a flight I bought a hat for $20 which I really like... But their service is shit I don't even want to finish my flight. What a waste of money and parking. read more

Visited Gate City last night and enjoyed this brewery in downtown Roswell. It wasn't too crowded but the space is set up to accommodate larger groups as well. The best part was seeing all the dogs just hanging out with their owners. Most people left their kids at home so it would definitely more of an adult atmosphere which I appreciated. Gate City proves that location matters -- they are packed with people while other breweries close by are nowhere near as busy. Some other breweries nearby suffer from a lack of parking while Gate City charges $10 to park (which is just plain idiocy). I might return if I'm in walking distance. We went here on a Sunday night to catch up with old friends. Overall, a great experience! The beers are reasonably priced ($5-8) and good. They have half pours, which I appreciate. There is indoor and outdoor seating, so my friend could bring her dog. My only qualm with this place is the parking. We eventually found some free parking after driving around for about ten minutes. The other lots in this area were $5-10 which seemed like a steep price to pay to just grab a beer. read more

We visited on Saturday afternoon, which was a great idea, until we saw the lines. The one detractor for me was the wait; easily 15 minutes every time we wanted another sample. They had a second tap station, but didn't open it. That said, we had a great time! The beer tasted like they really care, there was live music and lots of space, although seats were in short supply. There were easily 250 people present. Hopefully, they'll learn (like so many breweries need to) that having somewhere to sit and enjoy is half the battle. read more

This place is THE craft beer scene in the northern Atlanta area. Let's start with the most important part... the beer. Excellent! I had two flights, sampling 8 of the 17 beers on tap, each one a solid representation of the style. They even had a rauch beer. You don't see that everyday at your neighborhood brewery! I can't stress this enough... if you're into craft beer, GO TO THIS PLACE. The staff was friendly and helpful. They made everybody feel comfortable and welcome. Parking was no problem. I went there around 3 pm on Friday and found a spot with ease. They're also adjacent to a parking lot that charges $3-$5 depending on time of day. Plenty of seating inside and out and a cool place to take the dogs. They even had a vendor cooking up some tasty Mexican fare. I've been to most of the breweries in town and this one really struck a cord. I can't wait to go back. read more
