Variant Brewing is a must visit! If you are a fan of well crafted beer, especially IPAs, you need to check out Variant. The beers are all incredible. The space is quite stunning and absolutely beautiful. There are tons of windows bringing in natural light making the space bright and welcoming. It's extremely comfortable and clean. There is also a really nice outdoor space with covering that is perfect to enjoy on a summer day. There isn't food but there is usually a food truck or kitchen pop up. Hunny Jalapeno is there frequently and has delicious cheesesteaks. All of the staff are super knowledgeable about the beer and passionate about it. read more

While I'm sure the health part might be debatable, what's not if that Variant Brewing has the cure for what ails you. A great selection of beers, casual atmosphere, and good service at the counter is exactly what the Doctor ordered. I've tried Variant beers in a lot of local watering holes, but this was my first time here. Had a chance to try a few different beers, from IPAs to Sours to Lagers, and all were done really well. Seating, both indoor and outdoor is comfortable and casual, with an overall great feel for socializing or jutlst enjoying a brew. Would definitely return. read more

What a cool spot to hang out with friends and family. Get yourself to Variant. They have some amazing brews on tap and awesome staff ready to serve you. I came on Saturday and the place was hoppin, pun intended. Keenan's BBQ was on-site as well and serving up great BBQ for college game day. Once you get here find a spot to post up and get in line. I had the Cashmere and Cloud Forager. Totally recommend for folks who want a NE IPA, there's also DIPA if you are feeling adventurous. It's a bit noisy inside so check out the patio if you want to get some fresh air and enjoy company. Love this spot near Downtown Roswell. A great gem for the area. read more

Variant is often cited as one of the best breweries in metro Atlanta, and is known for their top class hazy pale ales. My wife and I were in the area and decided to enjoy a post lunch beer at this small Roswell brewery. The vibe here is clean and warehouse-y with a small outdoor patio. We received friendly service from the bartender and ordered a flight of 4 beers for me and a sour for my wife. Admittedly, I am not a huge fan of hazy IPAs and the selection here leans heavily towards that genre. Still, I tried a couple in my flight and particularly enjoyed a citra hopped, lighter hazy pale ale called "Cloud Forager". I also dug the year round Norcross St west coast IPA. The other two selections (the Helles and one of the many hazy IPAs) were decent enough but not my favorite. My wife enjoyed her pour of the raspberry lemon gose which tasted refreshing and mildly tart. Parking here is kind of an issue. Even though we visited the brewery at the ostensibly off hour of Thursday at 2pm, there was only one parking spot left in the small lot. I can imagine parking being far more troublesome if you go on a weekend or in the evening, so plan accordingly. Ultimately, we enjoyed our brews here but wouldn't necessarily recommend a dedicated trip from the city unless you are a hazy IPA aficionado. read more

We went to Variant Brewing in downtown Roswell today for the first time, and it is a really nice spot! The taproom has tall ceilings with a lot of natural light, and feels really clean to me. They have a lot of seating inside and outside. They have several tv's that were playing different football games. Their patio is really nice and they have heaters set up for cold days. Variant also has a parking lot on site, which is a huge plus in this area (although it is a small one). Variant's current tap list offers a wide selection for every beer drinker. They have IPAs, stouts, lagers, sours, etc. They offer year-round selections, as well as seasonal and new releases. You can order a taster size, half pour, or full pour. The prices are average, and everything we tried was tasty. They also offer a few sodas in cans and some chips for light snacking. The sodas are a nice touch for non drinkers or kids, and not every brewery offers those! I'd highly recommend visiting Variant, and we will definitely be back more often! read more

There are a lot of breweries out there these days. In fact in the stretch of space where Variant is, there are others, many others in a 10 mile radius. Variant however, is top of the class on the North OTP. Their hazy IPA's rival the best in the state and possibly the south east. Cashmere is their staple but there are even better small batches all the time. Their place isn't large and parking is tricky but easily walkable from anywhere in downtown Roswell. I've been here a few times and love that it is off the main strip in Roswell so isn't as crowded. That said, the interior is modern and small, but they do have a patio that is decent sized. Parking can be difficult and you are allowed to park at the eye place next to them after hours. They also do not sell food here so you are allowed to bring your own! They will sometimes have a food truck outside. The beer selection is good and very reasonably priced. You will never find a long line and the bathrooms are clean. What else could you want in a brewery? They also have trivia here on Tuesday nights. The host is awesome and you can go on Facebook the day before to get your free question/answer. They will have a food truck here for those nights and the turnout is pretty good. read more

Solid suds experience in the thick of the north Atlanta berbs. We visited close to the holidays and although it was packed, the service and atmosphere was chill. Barley any wait even though there wasn't an empty seat and we shared a table with some friendly folks. All the dudes behind the bar were knowledgeable and friendly and appeared to be into the craft suds game. I rate the place and will make it a must stop. They have a diverse and rotating lineup that focuses heavily on IPAs, Goses, and Stouts. The Johnny Cashmere was my favorite. For 3 regular pours and 2 half pours, it was about $31 plus tips. Highly recommend and 5/5 stars. The general manager introduced herself and she was very kind. They brought more tables outside when it started getting busy with customers with dogs. They have bags of popcorn and chips if you need a snack. My only complaint is that there are very few parking spots and no street parking. The beer is well above average. You can't go wrong with any of them. I'm an IPA guy at heart but have ventured off into sours lately. The sours are great. Tuesday's are great here for their trivia. First of all, the trivia was done with a TV so it made it so much easier to follow, first, second and third place teams all win prizes and they allow/encourage you to bring your own food. I believe they may have teamed up with Standard Pizza, right down the street because there was a promo for them if you ordered online. How sweet is that? Big dog friendly patio. I have been to a lot of breweries all over the country and Variant ranks up there as one of the best that I will try to go back to anytime Im in Atlanta and probably make a special trip for their anniversary party! Anything I have had here has been great. The adjunct stouts, fruited sours, and hazy IPAs have all been delicious so get a few small pours of each! Getting a few small pours is the way to go but if I had to get just one, I would probably go toward the fruited sours if you are just drinking and an ipa if food is involved. Dont forget to get some to go! I always get some to go so I can enjoy the goodness for weeks to come. So you can see that I love the beers but what about the taproom? I really enjoy visiting the taproom for three reasons (other than the beer). 1. There are several good restaurants nearby that deliver. 2. Every staff member has been informative about the beer, generous with small samples, and patient with me as I make my decisions. 3. Inside and outside is comfortable. I have been here on a cold night which kept me inside and I have been here on a sunny spring afternoon where the patio was THE PLACE TO BE. I will DEFINITELY be back! read more

We cannot help but be present for Variant (VBC) every chance we get. We go for the bottle releases, the special events, the anniversary parties. If you love craft beer, you should never miss an opportunity to visit. We were fortunate enough to be part of the Maple Good s'Morning Release where they served chicken and waffles with the beer. This last years anniversary party was crazy awesome. So much great beer was available to try. Waffle House Food Truck was there yesterday so we Brunched at Variant. Lovely and lively outdoor patio with music -- great to visit after walking around Roswell Mill. Social distancing measures in place, indoor and outdoor seating, and super clean restrooms. I love fruity/sour drinks and this place hits the spot for that! Here are the drinks we got: - Raspberry Lemon Gose: Year-round on tap that's so delicious! The right amount of fruity and sour. - Sop, Drop & Roll: Liked it so much I got a crowler to go. I think what's special about it is the hint of vanilla. It really balances out the acidic nature of the gose and goes down so smoothly. - Imperial Agua Fresca: Really does taste like horchata! Super fun one to give a try if you like cinnamon-y drinks. - Finally for IPAs, our server recommended Snake Money over Parallax, and we really liked it and got a crowler of it as well. - At the time of writing this review, I see they don't currently have Splodey available on the patio, but if they do again, it's another fruity drink with raspberry and guava, and the guava notes are super bright and wonderful. Food situation -- so they don't have food there, just small snacks like bagged pretzels. However, there are a ton of restaurant/gastropub/pizza places around the area, and you are allowed to take that food in there, or even order food delivery to the restaurant. We ended up grabbing a pizza and hard pretzel from nearby restaurants and it made for a perfect experience! One random tip, we went in fall, and parts of their patio get super cold in the shade, so you might want to bring a jacket even if it's very sunny, just depending on where you're sitting. I got hooked on craft beer about 15 years ago here in Atlanta and can honestly say that Variant has become my favorite craft brewery in Georgia. All of the different variants are really tasty and 8 out of every 10 beers that they put out are exceptional in my opinion. Their stouts used to be my go-to, but their IPA's have become phenomenal, and just keep getting better. Currently, they have a hazy double IPA called Dinosaur Disco that may be one of the greatest IPA's they've ever made. I also love that they have a patio that they just partially covered, a food truck often, and a few TV's for watching sports if you choose. The service is also too notch. I love Variant. They are one of the breweries in Atlanta that make some quality beers that range in various styles. You will find IPAs, Stouts, and Gose in between their ever so popular but limited release Splodeys and the beers are all good. I don't like the parking. There is a tiny lot out front and you can also park in the eye clinic next door later int he evening. Otherwise, you have to park down by the library which is not horrible but crossing Norcross can be a paid. The brewery itself has a wonderful outside patio area and inside although kind of small has these big windows that let in tons of light. I love the staff everyone there is so friendly and you will often see Matt and his wife in the tap room available to talk or ask questions. Definitely check out Variant and keep an eye out for special releases. They don't can their beer other than crowlers on location so you'll want to make sure you get some when available. read more

This place was amazing. I was visiting my brother and we decided to give this place a try because he lives fairly close and neither of us had been before. Not a ton of parking there so you may have to walk a little ways. Place has a few TVs so it's a good spot to catch a game on Saturday or Sunday. If you want to find the best local brewery in the Roswell, Alpharetta, Marietta area that is north of Atlanta, the newest addition at Variant Brewing Co. is the place to go. I live nearby and waited for quite some time and with some excitement about their opening because the Roswell brewery scene has been lacking a quality beer for quite some time. When I found out the concept of the brewery I was even nervous about a brewery first opening with as many as 12 or 14 different beer choices because usually when this occurs you end up with a bunch of mediocre beers instead of a few really good ones. Variant changed my expectations completely as they have been able to provide a variety of beer that surpasses anything in the area and the quality to top it off. Some of the best options include the Norcross Street and Cashmere New England IPA. If you are looking for a beer that is hoppy, with a hint of sour then you should opt for the variation they call Johnny Cashmere. Its my personal favorite along with the Raspberry Lemon Gose. While I am not much of a saison fan, the VA II is a solid option and if you are looking for a stout then the coconut coffee porter was another decent choice. The space inside is a work of art! There are quite a few tvs to watch a big game and a local restaurant/bar called the Standard will deliver for free. I hope in the future their success allows them to expand the space even more to provide increased seating during the winter months. This is definitely my favorite brewery in the Roswell area. There are tons of beers to choose from, and there's a great variety. The Raspberry Lemon Gose is my favorite. If you're into sours you should definitely give it a try. Another one of my favorites is the Cashmere. It's an IPA, and it's as smooth as its name. They offer flights on Thursdays. There are tons of tables inside, and there's also outdoor seating on their patio. The outdoor patio is dog friendly, so feel free to bring your pup. Inside there are multiple TVs, so it's a great place to watch sporting events with friends. They offer parking, but there are limited spaces. There is a lot beside it that can be utilized, but during the busy hours it's very difficult to find a spot. Canton street is extremely close, so you could always park there and walk. This smaller brewery is the perfect size for meeting up with friends and sampling great tasting beers without feeling overwhelmed by the size or scale of some of the larger Georgia breweries. There are a bunch of tasty IPAs that you can taste in a flight of four, which i always recommend doing at a brewery you haven't been to before. While the beers here are really good, the parking is not so good. Be aware, and plan accordingly -- I think there is free parking across the street (check their website for details). There was an odd vibe here on the day we visited -- lots of kids here on a Saturday which is a great indication on the "wholesome neighborhood brewery" feeling, but there also happened to be lots of angsty Roswell lady mobs giving my lady companion the stink eye. I'm sure they don't come out of their troll caves every weekend so you're probably safe for your visit! If you can make it you should try it out, the beers are really good. read more

As an IPA fanatic, I was thrilled to see two West Coast and two NE IPAs on the draft list during my first visit to Variant yesterday. I jumped right in with a glass of the Norcross St. IPA (WC)and then moved on to a half glass of the Cashmere IPA (NE). Both were fresh blasts of delicious hoppiness. I am a big fan of dank IPAs, so the Cashmere was a little bit of a departure for me, but no less tasty. I don't recall having a single hop Cashmere brew before and I found the beer to have a smooth bitterness with wonderfully complex overtones of citrus, tropical fruit, and a tiny smidge of stone fruit. Saturday afternoons are busy, with full bar seating and full tables, both inside and out. The nice folks manning the bar were very friendly, constantly moving to quickly serve the line of people before it. The interior of Variant is brightly lit with tons of natural light and features a high ceiling, giving the space a generous open and airy feel to it. The patio tables outside sport umbrellas for sunny days and is a perfect place to chill with a brew and your four-footed buddy, just don't bring your furry friend indoors as it's not permitted by the Health Department. If you love craft beer, this is the place for you. Come enjoy a few onsite and be sure to take a bottle or growler (or two) home with you! read more
