The workers here are friendly, communication was good and thorough when explaining. I took my vehicle here due to the 5 stars high ratings. Sadly my overall experience here was frustrating. It turns out the technician didn't do a thorough diag on my vehicle even after having it for over 2 days. I guess, it's just my luck though. After paying over $1000 to "fix" the issues on the vehicle & was told that everything is "fixed". My vehicle stalled on the frwy & all my lights were flashing. I had to take the vehicle back in for the same issue along with another check engine light code added on to the original code when I first took it in for them to tell me that I needed more things done & it was going to cost me over $2000 to completely fix it. Overall, it was very frustrating, time consuming & just a huge inconvenience. I ended up taking my vehicle elsewhere for a 2nd diag just to make sure b/c I wasn't going to waste another grand to not get this issue resolved. I took it to Honesty Auto Repair, had a 2nd diag done to the vehicle, confirmed what Gateway recommended, fixed & replaced all that Gateway stated (after having to take it back the 2nd time), with all OEM & top brand parts && Some...for almost half the price that Gateway quoted me the 2nd round ($2,400) but for the fact that they didn't do a thorough diag in the 1st place they were generiously going to give me 10% off the orginally price bringing it down to almost $1900. Honesty Auto Repair was $500+ cheaper from the "discounted" price of $1,900 Gateway gave me. . If price matters to you... I suggest Honesty Auto Repair. They have it all from customer service, auto repair knowledge, communication, effeciency...etcs. But if price doesn't matter to you... Gateway will do. read more

Jason was so helpful and nice to us. He went above and beyond our expectations. He fixed our transmission and explained everything to us. We had gone through our warranty and they were being a pain in the butt and Jason didn't complain once and fought for us with them. There was a hold up on the transmission (only because of the warranty company) but once he got the transmission he got it in right away and got our car back on the road! He also helped us get financed through a company that had 90 days 0 interest. We will definitely be back for another big job! read more

Having to apply more than normal pressure on the brakes on my 2012 ram 2500, I called Gateway Automotive. They found excessive moisture in the brake fluid and the rear pads almost gone. Complete brake fluid replacements and rear brakes changed and differential and transmission check for under $500. I felt that was a good price. I had my car serviced today after taking it to the dealer, who was no help. Doug and his crew jumped on it and had it ready by lunch! I took my vehicle here to have it inspected after the dealer informed me that I would need some major repairs on my trans pan gasket and timing cover gasket. Doug hoisted my vehicle on the lift and we took a look together. He told me that the leak was most likely coming from the power steering pump oil gasket on the right cylinder head. I left my vehicle at the shop for the weekend so that the repair could be done and checked for further leaks. All the leaks were gone and my vehicle is now running smoothly. I didn't end up going to my appointment as I was still thinking of the repairs and putting it off. However, I do want to say this place has been honest, communicated clearly on what seems to be the problem, the cause of the issue, the remedy, and cost. The cost I was quoted for the repairs were the best I could find in Clovis. I recommend this shop to those looking for a mechanic and I spoke with the owner himself when I called. He was busy answering my questions and asked for his calls to be returned until he was through with me instead of ignoring it. This place gave me an honest answer and remedy to the issue unlike my dealership who had countless of times gave me difficulty. Gateway did not sway me to do anything more than what was needed. It's hard to find a reputable place especially for women when it comes to car repairs to be honest. Good honest, reliable mechanics at Gateway. We have been going there for years. We trust them with all of our vehicle needs. I went there a few weeks ago after taking our truck to another local shop and the other shop was going to overcharge us more than $200 for the same work!!! The only reason we took our truck to the other shop was due to the need for a smog check. We asked the other shop to fix everything at once, which they said they could do, but couldn't! The other shop completely wasted our time and tried to rip us off. You won't get that at Gateway Automotive. Gateway is the place to take your car or truck if it needs work. Gateway Automotive is the only place I will take my car. These men (Doug, Jim, and Ray) are honest and up front. they got it done when they said it would be. The price was under what they said. I cannot recommend a better place to take your car. Doug went over everything that was done and answered our questions. he is very knowledgeable. The only draw back was he spoke mostly to my husband and not to me. Maybe because my husband was the one that took the car in and went with me to pick it up. I have been going to Gateway for years I used to love the company but I was sketchy to return after dials on my dash were stolen last time with the owner saying I can't prove it because I didn't have pictures. The most recent time I had gone, they sold me a new radiator because of my symptoms and they seemed so sure of it. $390. I bring it back an hour after it is returned to me with the same symptoms. Turns out the head gasket was bad (could have told them but they seemed so sure of themselves). Fixed that... 8 days later: $950. After the ridiculous wait, my car is returned but does not run! It needs throttle while in neutral. They say certain parts are bad, they install new ones, and they are very sure of themselves yet again. $520. An hour after leaving the lot, car dies at intersection. Find out later they put the engine together wrong and i fixed it myself (very labor intensive). With incidentals i spent well over $2000 dollars for a $950 dollar fix. The mechanics do not know what they are doing, pure guesswork. Only pros are the labor rate was under $100 and they let me use a loaner car because they almost caused me to lose my job. I left embarrassed and ashamed and with much less money. read more

Awful, awful, awful! I had my car towed on a Thursday and didn't get it back until Monday. I had a hole in my radiator hose and they couldn't "detach" it because they didn't have the right tools. Getting my car fixed was my early Christmas gift and my Grandma has been using this business for awhile. I would of taken my car back if I was the one paying for it. So $500 later for a radiator, filter, and oil I went to get my car back (after very poor communication, saying it would be ready in an hour and then not ready that day, extra) I was all smiles and thank yous as I was so ready to finally have my car back. I went and got my son in and then I got in- the windows were all down (In December and it's not the best neighborhood, I was upset as crime is bad right now right before Christmas) and when I attempted to role my window up on my side it was out of place! It wouldn't role up or down and wasn't in properly. WHY!? When I confronted Ottamar he got VERY VERY RUDE asking "Are you blaming me, are you saying this is our fault!?" Another man came out and they were gaining up on me. I practically begged them to just take the panel off and readjust it. They became repetitive and as a young woman, I did not feel safe. After 15 minutes of asking (and $500) they refused. I will NEVER EVER take my car back EVER and wish I could give them zero stars. I'm honestly easy to please but that was NOT ok and very upsetting to where I got in my car and broke down for 30 minutes as they watched. I'm super easy to please but I can honestly say I have never ever ever had worst customer service and I felt my safety was being threatened when they were gaining up on me a foot away. THERE ARE SO MANY BETTER PLACES THAT WILL GIVE YOU MORE BANG FOR YOUR BUCK!!!! read more
