I've been to Gateway Tire a couple of times now, and the customer service has been exceptional every visit. Today, I stopped by to have my tire pressure checked and was in and out in less than 10 minutes. Jacob took great care of me by checking all of my tires and filling them with air. This past Saturday morning I was about to get on the highway to go to my son's basketball tournament in N. Nashville . I got a notice that my tire pressure was extremely low. My heart sank as I was already running late. After calling around to several repair shops (who all told me to come in and "drop the car off" they would get to it by the end of the day ) I called Gateway Tire & Service and the nicest young man told me to bring the car in, and that they would get me back on my way quickly. I arrived and Jake checked me in. My car was repaired in less than 40 minutes and I was back on the road to catch my son's 2nd game! I recently discovered a couple of nails in my tire and was losing air, so I stopped by Gateway Tire & Service Center. Charles Pace and the team got me in right away and were incredibly helpful. Within an hour, Charles called to let me know they had removed the nails (thankfully, they hadn't punctured deep), topped off all four tires to the correct pressure, and--here's the amazing part--didn't charge me anything for the service. These folks are very kind and I will definitely choose them when we return for tire service. My partner had low air in one of her tires and we walked in prepared to pay for a top up and they did it for free of charge. I know this is not typical so do not expect it or feel entitled to it but it means a lot when a business treats someone like this. They could have easily charged $10-20 for a 4 wheel top up just due to the fact of the convenience and handling of having to get us in and use there employees to perform that service for us but they chose not to. My tire was losing pressure so I took it into Gateway and they informed me that the chrome plating on my wheel flaked off and became the source of the leak. The technician sealed the tire to the rim and got me out in less than an hour and DID NOT CHARGE ME ANYTHING. I'll be going back to Gateway for my new tires. Thanks guys! read more

We brought our car to Gateway to have new brakes installed. Three days following our break replacement, they went out completely while driving with my children in the car. Thankfully, none of us were injured. The car was towed at my expense back to Gateway for a repair. The manager of Gateway did not issue an apology, only a justification as to why the problem happened. Further, shortly after the incident, we attempted to sell the vehicle only to be informed by a dealership that Gateway had recorded an incorrect mileage reading from our odometer onto the Carfax report. When I contacted the Gateway manager to inform him of the error, he simply said "my techs don't make mistakes." However, after providing ample proof, Carfax recognized Gateway's error and removed the incorrect odometer reading. For your safety and the safety of those around you do not entrust your vehicle to this company. read more

Avoid at all costs! Don't let any good reviews fool you, this place is 100% willing to rip you off and overcharge you. Our horrible experience started with a simple diagnostics of our cars AC. First day they had the car they call me after a few hours and tell me they believe they've identified the problem but would need more time to confirm. So I agree to let them look at it a little more and get a call back after the weekend. Turns out the issue is exactly what he thought it was on that very first day, but has now racked up 3+ hours of electric diagnostics. So immediately they try to have me pay over $550 for having it looked at and adding Freon, despite me making it very clear on the phone my car didn't need Freon and my car only takes the more expensive kind so not interested. Obviously, I'm annoyed that the price is so high just to have it looked at. Then I find out from the guy working on it that with parts and labor to fix this I'm looking at over $2k and no none of my $550 dollars would count towards that. Completely insane. Immediately complain and refuse to pay that much for everything. They agree to call me back and knock of an hour of diagnostics and the Freon. But don't let them fool you with kindness, as they made sure to add a charge for a new key fob battery which was not needed and overpriced. (Our car battery had been dying bc of lack of driving, so they made sure to add a fob battery to the pile) This is probably what makes me the most mad though. Turns out this over $2k repair he is telling me I need is about $400 for labor and the rest is the part. Well guess what, the only part you can get online is max $200, I found one on eBay for $97. And I got someone else to help install it and guess what, all you do is pop out the old unit and pop this one in and connect literally 1 wire. That to them is the equivalent of over $2k in parts and labor. It only keeps getting worse too, so this part I ordered and installed did not fix my AC problem in anyways. It did absolutely nothing. Good thing I didn't waste over $2k for them to rip me off even further with. So to summarize, those "honest" mechanics wanted to charge me $550 diagnostics and $2k in parts/labor, a total of about $2.6k to fix my AC problem. And all I actually ended up with $350 of diagnostics wasted on the wrong issue and $100 part that takes max 5 mins to install. Somehow they think paying $2.6k is a fair price for an actual $500 job, even if they got it completely wrong and wouldn't have fixed it anyways. Thankfully I didn't let them install the part of who knows what they would have forced me to pay for not fixing my AC. Now I'm still driving around with broken AC, had to return the part they told me would fix it, out over $350, still have no idea what the issue with my AC actually is, and have to pay to take it somewhere else to actually get fixed. Maybe this place is just used to ripping of rich people from Brentwood who don't care what prices they pay or they like to overcharge people who aren't car experts. If I were you I would go literally anywhere else. Ignore any of the good reviews here because they have no problem taking you for a ride and leaving you where you started. read more

Highway robbery. Mechanics are paid commission and incentivized to oversell. Double the price of other reputable shops in the middle Tennessee area. They will charge by the book rate and not by the time it actually takes to do the job. Quality of work is good but they will get you for every nickel and dime you have. read more

DO NOT USE. I was recently almost run off the road on Mack Hatcher in Franklin, TN by a truck named "Little Fella." The operator cut off numerous other drivers before turning onto Hillsboro Rd. When I called the local office to complain, I was told that the operator was a good guy. That explanation speaks volumes about Gateway's commitment to safety. AMAZING! After Discount Tire sold me faulty tires for my Mercedes and then refused to uphold their warranty, I searched for local tire places. keep in mind I used gateway for several years in the 2000s, and never a problem. Something's changed, so I'm leaving this review. I had my diesel truck repaired late summer into early Fall. I've debated leaving a review, and decided to do so because my experience was so egregious, I think others should know before using gateway. I dropped my truck off in late July, with the understanding they couldn't get to it for a few. Despite repeated calls, I didn't get my truck back for five+ weeks, and only then after beginning to call every other day. There were days they said they were working on it. But in my drive to work daily I could see it in the parking lot park behind another vehicle, having never moved since I first dropped it off. Although I can't prove it, I suspect the job they did was billed at a higher rate because of my increasing sense of urgency to get my truck back. That statement comes from a few weird conversations I had with their main guy in repair (towards the end). Perhaps I am to blame because a few years ago I had another disappointing experience with their general manager, who installed an aftermarket bumper different than what I ordered and was billed for. Reinstalling the bumper with the winch, lighting and sensors would've required another couple of days after waiting on the correct part, but in hindsight, that's what I should've made them do. Why did I go back to them after that experience? I actually tried to go to Christian Brothers, because of their excellent reputation, but they don't have a diesel tech, and I was in a hurry to get my truck repaired. After seeing the great Google reviews I felt very comfortable bringing my RV to Gateway for service. I brought it in for an oil change and a power steering pump. Thankfully they got it fixed in a timely matter but when I went to pick it up there was a small puddle of PS fluid under the RV in their parking lot. After asking Nick what that was about, he said the tech must have spilled and it should drip out over time. Sure enough, I crawl under and the front subframe is filled with fluid but no leaks elsewhere. Sloppy, but it'll do for now. 200 miles later I smell burning motor oil so I crawl under and find that the oil filter is leaking and snap a pic. I bring it in for warranty and Nick proceeds to tell me that they can't warranty any leak because I took it somewhere else for an oil change since there's a different oil filter on the motor. Comparing the part number on my picture with the previous invoice, both part numbers and brands are the same. After confronting Nick about that, he nervously says he's just repeating what the tech told him but the leak has been fixed now. Reluctantly, I ask them to perform a transmission filter and fluid job as a I have a big road trip coming up. When I went to pick up the RV the service advisor did not know where the keys were and told me to ask a tech. After tracking one down he said they were in the unlocked RV in the gravel lot across the street along with every other RV and bus over there. He joked, "Take your pick. They're all unlocked with the keys on the floor." Wow...VERY secure operation guys... 2 hours into an 8 hour trip, the transmission is hanging up on gears, sticking in neutral at times, and overall having a hard time shifting all while smelling ATF the whole way there. After pulling over into a service station I find that the breather tube on the transmission is spilling ATF all over the underside of the RV which in turn is getting over the tires and wheels. After checking the dipstick with a local mechanic, we both find that the transmission is dangerously overfilled. I paid to have it siphoned off and found that the transmission was 2 quarts overfilled. After speaking with John, the manager of Gateway, he stated that his techs fill what their computer tells them to and sends them on their way. As a previous technician myself, with unfortunate circumstances where I can't work on my own vehicles at home, we ALWAYS checked the dipstick before calling a job complete. I won't be returning to Gateway in the future as it's always problems whenever I get anything back from them. I understand it's a busy shop, but the problems I've had are inexcusable. read more

I was told that this was an honest location to have my car repaired, never again. I took my vehicle in repair and they kept it for 3 days, when they called they told me it was repaired. I drove it off the lot and it was still doing the exact thing I took it in for, I called and they told me to bring it back the next week. Keep in mind I have paid $1800 for the repairs, they called me and asked me what was wrong ( do you not keep records) so I told them again. Later that day the guy told me that when they drove it, ( so they didn't drive it the first time I dropped it off) that it could be the transmission and recommend that I get rid of the vehicle. So, why did they not tell me this before I paid them $1800 and they said it was fixed. Do not go here!!!! read more

I drove down from the Twin Cities and the low tire signal came on. Amazing that it came on in Franklin and along the main road this place stands out. They were out of water so we shared a pop from the machine there. We needed a new tire and they had a match. I didn't get through one chapter to read and it was done. The worst, most intimidating, crooked, disingenuous experience I've ever had. I was referred to them by Caliber Collision, who outsources all of their alignment work to them, btw (Caliber, you should do better for your customers). My car had been in an accident three years ago and fixed. Over time, the right rear wheel had become more and more toed-in. I clearly had an alignment issue, so I took it to Gateway. I got a voicemail that said "I'm not sure if it was hit or something, but your subframe is bent, and there's A LOT of rust down there." It had been hit, so this sounded plausible. I went by the shop to get the estimate, and talked to both the front desk guy and the technician, so I know there wasn't a mix-up with which car they were calling me about. They confirmed verbally (car was parked and no longer on the rack) that there was a noticeable crease on one side of the subframe, and that it was leading to a lot of rust......pretty scary sounding stuff. They wanted $1800+ for the fix to replace the subframe, and alignment. Anyway, I had recently put a brand new tire on it, as the toe-in issue was causing premature wear (as expected), so the car was safe.....and truthfully, it drove and handled pretty well still.....was just burning up that tire. When I told the estimator that I was going to get another opinion, he said he wouldn't drive it like that, and said it in a way that was meant to intimidate. With the brand new tire on it, I felt like I would be OK. One question I asked the estimator was "For my $1,800, is it guaranteed to be completely fixed," to which he responded, "No, but you have a bent subframe, so you have to start there." Anyway, I took it elsewhere for a second opinion. They said that it was clear that the wheel was toed-in way out of specifications, but they could not find any creases or bends in the subframe, and not a spec of rust under the car. Interesting! They acknowledged that there could be one or more culprits since it had been in an accident, and recommended starting with the various components that link the subframe to the wheel (tie-rod, upper control arm, etc.). After moving forward with them, they found that a cracked bearing in the upper control arm was the likely primary culprit, and I also had a warped bolt on my tie-rod. The cracked bearing was likely unnoticeable when the fix occurred after the accident three years, ago and caused the advancing toe-in issues over time......this was making perfect sense! They replaced the upper control arm, the tie rod, and gave it a fresh alignment, and my car has never been better! So, my take on all this is that Gateway couldn't actually see the real issues based on the locations, but they floated a very expensive idea (replace the subframe) and tried to sell it with lies and scare tactics. They didn't get "into it" far enough to truly diagnose the issues. BTW, I left the car in the overnight lot, and had my scary voicemail by 8:20am the next morning....so very quick conclusion. And one of two things would have happened. 1 - They would have gotten my $1800+, and the car wouldn't be right (because their fix didn't work). Or 2 - they would've been pointing out the real problems as they disassembled the various parts, and along with the needless subframe replacement, I would've been out a ton more money. Bottom line, they straight up lied about the bend in the subframe, and tried to sell it with a form of intimidation (voicemail said "bunch of rust"). I'm no sucker, and sought a different opinion.....and have a bunch of extra money in my pocket. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of this place. read more

Went in for a bad wheel bearing, left with a missing lower speedometer cable. thieves. I'm writing this review several years later. They called me after my wheel bearing was done, said my speedometer wasn't working. Funny? it was working before I brought it in. I thought the old age of my car, it might have been a coincidence but it was also so cold out at the time for me to troubleshoot myself. (the only reason i brought my wheel bearing repair to them in the first place was because it was too cold plus i don't have a press). I left and dealt with a non-working speedometer/odometer for a while, and my car sat as a project for some time. After now finally getting a look at it, there are 2 cables, an upper that connects the dash to the lower cable, and a lower cable that connects the upper cable to the transmission. This lower cable is actually missing from the transmission. Even if the cable broke, it would still be there. They are thieves and jacka$$es. They give the automotive industry a bad name. read more

I can always count on honest service, good selection, and a speedy fix at Gateway Tire. I have brought several different cars and trucks there over the years, and they have always been good to me. I took a Toyota 4-Runner in there, expecting to have to buy a new tire, and they fixed it for me, told me there was no need to replace it, and gave it back to me within 30 minutes, free of charge. I took my car, which I have a difficult time finding tires for, and they had more than one for me to choose from. They didn't, like most other tire places, have to fetch tires from somewhere else. The whole process was much simpler than usual. I have heard similar testimonies from a number of friends, family, and acquaintances, who all agree this is the best place for tires in the area. read more

I want to thank the team at Gateway Tire service for repairing my 2002 Chevy Trailblazer yesterday. We went to a diagnostics first and determined I had a problem with my VVT Variable valve timing. Variable valve timing (VVT) helps to provide smoother idling, better power delivery for everyday needs, improved fuel economy, and superior emissions control. In order to achieve all of these tasks, your VVT system requires a number of different components including the variable valve timing solenoid. Will never go back! Used to use this place to service our family cars(4) and most recently brought Jeep in day before for tires and service. Came to pick up as instructed the next day but no work done and we were charged someone else's bill for $200+! Still trying to get that charge removed. They apologized (one tech a no show and another tech sent to another store) but no offer whatsoever to make things right, no discount, not even bring it back and it will have priority. This place has gotten too busy to handle volume which can happen when areas boom. Ill take our cars elsewhere where we feel our business is appreciated. Two days later, i received my car. This type of time management is unacceptable, deceitful, and inconsiderate to the most valuable commodity we have. Time. I bought a set of tires there last winter. A couple weeks ago I noticed the front pair starting to wear the same but unevenly. Took the car in for the free rotation and inspection. They said I needed an alignment. Hmm, I paid for one with the tire purchase a few months ago and don't remember hitting anything that could put it out of alignment but ok. Not even a week later I notice some noises coming from the front end. I take it back and they tell me that I need some substantial ($1k) suspension work due to some loose/worn parts. Oh, and I would need another alignment after the work. They had no explanation of why the mechanic did not notice the problem as it was very obvious with a cursory inspection and I complained of tire wear. So I say no thanks and take it to a dealer to get it fixed. I now notice that when they did the rotation, the mechanic damaged two tire sidewalls with the impact wrench. One will likely have to be replaced. And, as an additional bonus, he rotated the tires incorrectly because they should only be rotated front to back and now the worn tires are on the same side of the car! read more
