The best food in the greater Belding/Symrna area. Be sure to check the Facebook page for the hours of service (they change based on season,weekly events,etc) and the special dishes every weekend. Reasonably priced for using local ingredients and curating interesting dishes each week. Setting is casual but feels upscale. Our group had chicken tenders and chicken wraps. Unfortunately, it was not good. (We should have taken a queue when there was only other couple in the restaurant). The breading all fell off the chicken, it was very greasy and bland. The upcharge for fries was not worth the cost as the portion was very small. Overall, it was over $80 for a dozen chicken tenders and as many fries as you can make from one potato. We wanted to like it as options in the area are limited. The service was good. Update since my first review. Menu choices have decreased significantly. Many of the items mentioned in other reviews are no longer on the menu. They do weekend specials which are interesting. Now doing Thursday night steak special. First time I had it was good, except potato casserole was not hot. Last night, I asked the wait person to make sure the potato casserole was hot and it was. The small dinner salad wasn't bad, but I did pick out some greens that were starting to turn. My medium rare steak was actually medium well! Very disappointing! Wait person offered to have it re-made. Which I refused. (I dislike wasting food, I was hungry and I wanted to be supportive of the local business.) My husband's chicken sandwich was huge and tasty, but a bit overdone as were his onion rings. Drinks were good, as was the wait person. We had asked to see the owner (after we had paid our bill) but she was busy doing DISHES and did not come out. We wanted to share our food experiences with her. We were not looking for a discount but only wanted her to know so maybe they could improve . We have patronized this place through the pandemic, usually a couple times a month. Unlikely to return anytime soon. read more

This is a pretty hard core country / hillbilly bar, but I like to frequent it a few times a year because the food menu is huge, plus they often have a few decent craft beers on tap. When you size the place up, you'd think they only serve Bud Light, but being striking distance from Beer City USA, they have the good stuff available for people like me who would never return if they didn't carry it. None of the food I've had was exceptional, but it was solid bar food, but with a lot of choices. The staff also displays a lot of hospitality for such a gritty place. read more

The burger I had was made with homemade bacon jam which was delicious. My boyfriend had another burger with tangy homemade BBQ sauce, also great. Everything was delicious. Had the gin & juice and the famega rosé at the recommendation of the owner. One of the best glasses of rosé I've ever had - a surprise in rural Michigan! Great dive bar with super friendly staff and patrons. Extensive menu with every type of cuisine. Olive Burger was ok. The bun and toppings were really good but the patty appeared to be prefabricated. The waffle fries were good and I hear the tacos and wet burrito are also good so I'll get those next time. read more

We didn't know what to except when we went to the Smyrna Bar tonight! Let me tell you we had the best time. We just moved her from the Middle of the state and we are in love with this bar, the food was out of this world. The service was wonderful, the atmosphere was fantastic and the band The Boyfriend's was the best. We are absolutely coming back and bringing a large group of people with us next time. My husband and I ordered take out last night from Smyrna Bar and Restaurant and it was delish! It was ready on time and so so good! My husband ordered the vegan burrito and I had the salmon with scalloped potatoes and salad and we couldn't have been happier with our meals! I highly recommend! read more

Smyrna Bar recently got new owners and a new menu. I am loving it! I'm so used to driving 30-45 minutes out of town to find good food and a drinkable wine selection. There are great sandwiches, the fries are awesome, and the specials are delicious. I went there for zucchini lasagna last week and was blown away. It was comfort food at its finest. We were at the Smyrna bar this past weekend. It was always a "must stop" on our trip home. This time the service was very poor, and the staff was running around like crazy! It took 15 minutes to get a drink, and almost an hour to get food. I felt sorry for our server, because they really were trying. After very poor service, (due to no organization) I found out the servers do NOT GET THE TIPS! The owners keep them. If you go, be prepared for a bad experience, but it's management, not the help. Still tip, just slip them something under the table. They're the ones who serve you, NOT the owners. read more

Everything was perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and the right texture - the burger filled the bun and was perfectly cooked, the slaw had crunch, the fries were amazing, bun soft, etc. Food was served up piping hot and the staff friendly. Found this gem by taking a wrong turn during a county road shortcut late at night. Just when I thought I was going to run out of gas or be kidnapped by aliens this emporium of $10 ribs and dollar drafts materializes from the evening mist. Popped my head in for directions and ended up staying to close the joint. Met so many cool folks, ate a ton of ribs, and polished off a half-dozen shells of Pabst...yes...Pabst on tap. Had soooooo much fun in this den of Irishmen I almost changed my last name to Gallagher. If you are debating a drop-by and think about asking for organic, vegan or perhaps inquire about the nutrition list...I can save you a trip and recommend a $6 craft beer and $18 spring green salad in South Haven. read more
