I had Gather in Jackson Hole on my bookmarks list, and honestly with I could tell you why... but I have hundreds of items on that list and rarely remember the WHY behind them. Someone told me about it, I read or heard about it on some 'best of' list, or whatever. Anyway, we found ourselves in Jackson, WY and I had Gather bookmarked so I made a reservation for an early dinner (recommended since there was already a line when we arrived and it filled up quickly!) I quickly noticed that the font and menu were the same as the Gather restaurant in Omaha... though the website didn't make it easy for me, I soon realized that they're sister restaurants! So it was like a little taste of home away from home. It was fun, friendly, and (most importantly) delicious! The bone marrow fried rice was MMMMMM. The Gather Burger. The steamed buns! The soup of the day (carrot, I think?!) the cocktails! But the real winner was actually the kids steak. Look at that thing! We got into town late in day so we checked into hotel and went by a couple places that were at top of list and they were both closed for the season. Went to Gather and luckily they sat us down right away as it was on a Saturday night and was pretty busy. Not a large menu but what they have is great. Definitely better than I had hoped. read more

There's a reason this is the top rated restaurant in Jackson. Everything was perfect. Started with their special drink, which was a whisky basil smash. Delicious and refreshing and it went down way too easy. We then split a wild mushroom toast with melted brie appetizer. I normally like my mushrooms chopped up finer than the whole mushroom caps that we got here, but it was fantastic. The melted brie really highlighted the dish. Finally, I got the vegan noodles gluten free with chicken-the GF option is rice (soba) noodles instead of udon. This was a perfect dish. Just the right amount of sauce (a soy based brown sauce) and spice. Full of flavor and positively delicious. While my lady got the same thing but with tofu, i also tried the pork shank that another member of our party got and the brussel sprouts ordered by another. The sprouts were easily top 5 sprouts I've ever had, but they were fried so of course they were. The pork shank was tender and juicy and also delicious. Restaurant is cute and the service was great. I had been looking for a trout dinner for a week and struck out until we sat down at Gather. Perfectly cooked, the boneless trout was balanced with subtle Thai seasonings that fid not overpower it. After reading about everybody else's five star experiences I have to say I was slightly disappointed. Don't get me wrong - most everybody's food was really good but our service was ho-hum and the trout I ordered was very plain. I thought it was just me but then another person at the table said the same thing. When the waiter initially took drink orders I wasn't sure yet on what I wanted however he didn't follow up with me and I didn't notice until I wanted my wine with my trout. Oh well. I will say they were responsive to our change in the reservation and seated us immediately upon checking in. They also put us in more of a side dining room because we had a baby with us. Very very good spot for dinner. Our group of 4 had the pork shank, vegan noodles with steak, and 2 order of the bone marrow fried rice. All were really good. The star though was the pork shank. They slow cook it then put a crispy outside on it. Super good. We really enjoyed the custom cocktails. To me the Jackson Bee was the best but the PBJ also made fans. We tried several - all very tasty. Several table had kids - they seemed fine. Service was awesome. Leslie, our waitress walked us through the menu and cocktails - she was personable and had a good command of the food choices. We are a tough crowd with a vegetarian, a gluten allergy and a tree nut allergy all within the four person group. She did great with us..... the menu was easy to navigate with all these allergies. The space is not too big so make sure you make a reservation. My husband and I came here for our first wedding anniversary dinner while on a trip to see some national parks. The food was so good and our server Sunshine was truly that! We had a really nice time and left completely full with dinner and dessert. They also have these cute little guest books for you to sign, which was such a fun touch. We thoroughly enjoyed the special summer salad, strawberry, manchego salad, brussels sprouts, and the pork ribeye. We enjoyed a glass of the Viña Almeira Albariño and it was delicious. All the food we ordered had a lot of flavor and complexity. We sat outside, and the weather was perfect! They have umbrellas to block the sun and heaters if it gets cool out. Highly recommend! This place was great all around, food, service and ambiance. We didn't make a reservation but we're lucky enough to get a booth. We started with the Mediterranean Buratta Cheese which was excellent. For dinner I went with the Truffle pasta. I'm not much of a pasta fan as most dishes are bland but the pictures on Yelp sold me. This dish exceeded my expectations. It was far from bland and I would order it again. I added steak to it for more protein and it was cooked to perfection (medium rare). We were too full for dessert but I would imagine it was just as good as everything else. In addition, I thought it was really cool how they brought your check out with a book that had been signed by everyone who had visited the restaurant from all over the country. We made a reservation and were seated early. The service was quick, and the waitress was polite. I ordered the truffle pasta with chicken and the donuts for dinner: I am usually not a fan of a non-cooked egg, but it mixed well in the pasta. The pasta was creamy and so flavorful I was, say, a crème of mushroom Parmesan mix. For dessert, I had to try the donuts with vanilla, blackberry, and a coffee dipping sauce. Gather was hands down, the best culinary experience we had while touring Yellowstone and the Tetons and on par with some of the best restaurants we have eaten at in Chicago and New York. The menu is inspired but what really sets it apart is the execution. It was apparent that every ingredient that went into the dish was carefully prepared and thoughtfully combined. The menu is a mix of culinary influences and fusion, that all seem to work together, in spite of the many different culinary influences. The service was also over the top good for any location and considering Jackson is a mountain town, downright astonishing. Matt, Trevor and Brandon were accommodating and attentive and knew just how to make sure we were taken care of while allowing us to enjoy our meal. My friends found this gastronomical gem for our last vacation dinner. It was a nice reprieve from eating sandwiches every day after a week of exploring the local national parks. We were seated quickly outside. The seats were comfortable and there was an umbrella to shade us from the glare of the setting sun. They also had a heater nearby just in case it started to get chilly. The weather was perfect that evening so we didn't have any need for it. The menu is well appointed with a variety of options for foodophiles (yes, I coined this term. You heard it here first ). Amongst the six of us we thoroughly enjoyed the following items. My personal favorites were the Wagyu Beef Tartar and the Burrata. Both were delectable. The Burrata was refreshing and my favorite way to enjoy it was with the accompanying naan bread topped with fig and olive. My friend who got the Wagyu said that the rice was too mushy (and she's Asian so she would definitely know). I shared the truffle pasta with another friend and we both agreed that the bitter tasting arugula imbalanced the dish depending on how much you had with each bite. As a whole we didn't love the huckleberry cheesecake but that's mainly because it was made from ricotta which gave it a chunky texture rather than the traditional refined smoothness of a cheesecake. This is more of a personal preference but if you like novelty you'll enjoy this deconstructed cheesecake. All-in-all we enjoyed our dining experience here. The service was good. I only came here for drinks. This is located in the touristy town of Jackson Hole where there are obviously going to be a ton of people. I would recommend making reservations if possible or at least coming early so you can have dinner at a reasonable time. My first drink was the caliente wey ($12) which is their local favorite. It was spicy from the infused tequila and I couldn't taste much of the blackberry puree or other flavors in the drink because the spice was so prevalent. My second drink was the c'est la vie ($13) which was so good and balanced. I saw all the ingredients on the menu and just knew that it would be a great drink. When I took a sip it was everything I expected and more. I liked it so much that there was no way I was going to leave without at least asking for the specs of the drink. Fortunately the server and bartender were gracious enough to give it to me. I was told by my server that the bartender was proud of himself/herself for making a drink that someone requested the recipe for. I am so glad I asked for it because I know I will be making so many of these for myself and my friends. The service here was, of course, amazing. Not only the server and bartender for the reason above but the hostess who went around the bar and restaurant a couple times to find any open spots for a table of one, especially during such a busy time in a crowded place. My family shared the Brussel sprouts had cranberries mixed in with them which was a perfect way to dress them up for the winter menu. The mushroom toast (I can't remember if that's what it was listed as on the menu) was delicious (if you like a truffle/blue cheese flavor), and the broccoli cheddar soup was perfect for the cold night that it was. After the appetizers we didn't really have much room for the entrees we ordered but we ate them anyways because WOW - the plating was beautiful and the food was delicious. I got the truffle pasta with steak and my sister ordered the ribeye which stole the show. My Dad ordered a simple burger with fries and said it was great - he especially liked the shoestring fries. As the hostess was allowing other walk ups who showed up after us. GOOD for us!! We did not have reservations at Gather but got on another wait list (30 mins) was actually 20 mins...nice! Hostesses were both very nice and helpful. The inside of Gather was very loud (only nitpick from me). The interior was very open and bar/dining share the area we were seated in. Our server (GRACE) was amazing. We had a table of 3 seated next to us who were awful loud and Grace kept apologizing for that (albeit she had no control of the issue). My wife ordered the Peach and Burrata salad with grilled salmon...She LOVED it. It was also a very nice portion. And, beautifully presented. Arugula, grilled peaches, burrata, black figs, walnuts and peach & tarragon vinaigrette. I went with the Pork ribeye....WOW, WOW! Huge grilled pork rib eye with jalapeno/cilantro marinade, creamy couscous, spring onion, miso butter, roasted corn salsa, hoisin pork glaze and pickled blueberries. OUTSTANDING!! The wine was excellent, the old fashioned was best in class. Me and a buddy were in Jackson for a ski trip and decided to give Gather a try. We were glad we did. Let's start with the main-course (the food baby.) We absolutely loved the fried rice. I could have ordered a few of those appetizers and would have been content. My goodness, the flavor was insane! So fresh and so delicious. My main course, the fried chicken over mac and cheese was also insane. Same with the dessert! Service from our server Angelica was also superb. Vibe and ambiance was great. Lovely location. All I can say is wow. After eating a lot of crappy pizza and sandwiches in our previous days in Yellowstone, this was a real treat. we got the fried and Brussels as an appetizer. The sauce for the fries was a chili flavored aioli and we could've eaten an entire bowl of it..... the fries were crispy snd were gone way too fast. The Brussels were roasted to perfection and the the cranberries and sauces were so good on those Brussels... we could've ordered multiple of that one dish!! We got the bone marrow fried rice with the egg on top as the next course along with a Caesar salad. this fried rice was nothing like we expected. I can't even describe all the flavors because there so many and not at all what we thought was going to come out when we got that plate. YOU HAVE TO GET THIS! You will not be disappointed because it's so flavorful. The ceaser salad was also delicious. The anchovies were seasoned well and added some good flavor but the dressing itself is where it's at. I loved this and actually licked my plate when I was done. For the dinner, we got the elk Bolognese and red wine marinated bison. I would say the marinade was really good and the bison was cooked perfect medium rare. again, I licked the plate clean. The smothered potatoes with fondue was so delicious under the bison. Every bite I ate tasted so good. We got the donut holes and honestly they weren't anything to write home about. I've had better and I think the rest of the meal blew me away I expected too much for the dessert. Just eat your weight in the appetizer and main course and you won't even need dessert!! My partner, and I, both had the elk bolognese (Elk, Bison, Wagyu, House Made Red Sauce, Vertical Harvest Tomatoes, House Made Pasta, Grilled Baguette, Grated Pecorino) and the "crispy Brussels." Our server, Alodano (sp?), was personable, efficient, and always had a smile. The General Manager, Quinn, was observed stopping at each table to inquire about each customer's experience. He was very engaging with us! He said he wanted us to try the flourless chocolate cake for dessert, even though we were full. Our server brought us that, along with the turtle cheesecake, compliments of Quinn. The desserts were delicious!
