Just went to Gators for first time in like 5-6 years. Used to love the place but I guess it got screwed just as hard as everybody else during Covid! The inside was remodeled, not sure if good or bad? Kinda crowded, not what I like,I'm not into crowds. I was put at a corner table that had window, and outside crowd right up against it...no way! I moved over to a 2 person table. My server was Erin, she was great! with my food allergies she took the info and read it back to me! Outstanding! We had an issue with draft beer, I'm old school, ABSOLUTELY NO LITE, ULTRA, CRAFT, no yuppie shit! They had Bud on draft, it was peached! She substituted a bottle and I was happy! Had a great experience at Gator's Dockside today. Our waitress was great! Service was friendly with a cool and casual atmosphere. We ordered gator tail bites and southwest eggrolls for appetizers. A couple of Bud Light draft, the half birra Quesadillas, 10- 3 pepper spicy wings, and the fried shrimp dinner. The gator bites and eggrolls were amazing. The shrimp was delicious. The wings were incredible and the birra was wonderful. read more

I came for an early dinner with family. It was the same night as their bingo night. Apparently that's quite a popular thing to attend for regulars. We arrived three hours earlier than that event. However, due to that event we were seated in a less popular seating area for bingo. We were told the regulars were quite particular about their seats & arrived hours early to reserve them. Once we were sat with one menu (there were 3 of us) there was confusion on who was picking up our table. We were told a few different names would be there to serve us but we sat for a while before our drink order was taken or a server actually picked up our table. I guess we came in between shifts & I understand that happens but we were sat in a side room where it didn't seem like anyone was scheduled to cover at that time. When we finally placed our drink order, we decided we wanted to take our meals home. We all ordered the fried shrimp meal. Our server was kind & coaxed us to stay. We were just ready to leave at this point. He comped our sodas but we paid full price for our meals. A manger never stopped by to check in with us either. To our surprise, the food came out packed & ready to go quicker than our sodas! When we arrived at home we found out they had put our fried shrimp & tots straight outta the fryer into the takeout container which caused the plastic container for cocktail sauce to melt & go all over our fried food making it soggy. There are a few menu changes to go with price changes which is to be expected. We went on a Tuesday and had the friendliest server who gave us awesome tips on what was excellent to eat and how to make it better. I'm talking about the Chicken Bowl which we traded the protein to shrimp. YUM! Great twist. read more

We came in early for dinner just as the servers were changing their shifts . We were seated in the back dining room area where no one was. We had about six different staff members look at us and all say they were off or not working that area of dining room or waiting for bingo to start in two hours in front dining area. Kind of weird actually and felt uncomfortable with the interactions and lack of interactions. One server who was finished for the day brought us two Pepsi drinks and a water and said someone else would come to take our order. Paul a server from the front of the restaurant dining room where bingo was happening in two hours came over to get our dinner order. At that point we asked to just pay for our drinks and we would leave. The hostess came over and asked what was going on. Then Paul came back over we asked to take our three fried shrimp dinners to go. In under a minute the dinners and sides were packed and placed on top of our table. We paid and left. The food was served hot in the to go bags. The cocktail sauce lid fell off and was all over the tots and shrimp. Otherwise the food was delicious and good tasting. Great lil bar food place to watch the UCF games. Great draft beer prices. Cocktails are the typical bar wells with the extreme overly-sweet mix. They give me a stomach ache. I'll just stick to drafts which is what I like to drink when watching the game so it's all good. The fish and chips are legit. So stinking good. I got plantains instead of coleslaw. They are fried sweet plantains. My hubs got the ahi tuna bowl. This dish was far above the atmosphere here. He said "it was very very good. Cooked on point. " That's his speak for 'I'm coming back and ordering this every time.' Haha. Our waitress, Laiyah, was amazing. Friendly, helpful, efficient. Really the only thing disappointing to us was our cocktails. And not because the bartender was bad....just the quality of mixes was super poor. I don't recommend the nachos with chicken. They might have been better with the chili but I'll never order them again so I won't find out I was looking for a more fully loaded type of nacho. Food, service, and prices are all very good. Im writing this review because I have been going to restaurants for a very long time and this is the first time I've even not gotten a knife with my flatware. This is strange to me and very annoying that I now have to ask for a knife. What ever brilliant manager had the bright idea to do this should be demoted. GD is all around a great place for family and friends. Wings are my go-to finger food here. All of the sauces have their appeal, but the house gator sauce is good, but the best kick of sweet and hot is the mango habanero sauce. I usually ask for extra sauce on the side for dipping. Get 'em grilled, Buffalo, breaded, boneless... no matter how... you can't go wrong. My wife LOVES, I mean LOVES the mashed potatoes here with the classic BROWN gravy. It's a good sized side option for whatever plate you order. She always get the Wingers platter. Gators has almost anything you can think of from appetizers, salads, sandwiches, full on dinner plates and even options for vegetarians. Gators used to be our go to place for casual wings or carry out for home. It's been in decline for some time with subpar food and service and a nearly empty restaurant. Ordered a variety of wings online and they messed up almost every part of the order along with not including some of the wings but charging us for them. Disappointed. It's been a minute since we've been to Gators and it just wasn't as good as we remember. My husband wanted to go for the wings specifically as they used to be some of the best in town. The wings on this visit were dry on the inside but, nobody asked. The tomato soup was just ok and the best of what we had was the $8.99 Grilled Shrimp Rice Bowl. Wow, they have a FANTASTIC Chicken Parmigiana Sandwich! It was fresh real chicken, just enough sauce and cheese. I have been trying Chicken Parm for years! I like Gators for their wings. I usually stick to hot (lemon pepper here is my least favorite). I've also tried their nachos which are amazing (and very plentiful) and the fries and cheese sticks are pretty good too. Their cocktail menu is my least favorite. Most of the drinks don't have the best taste and there isn't enough alcohol in them for my liking (I'm not much of a drinker so that says a lot). Their wine selection is very limited. My coworkers love the beer specials though so we usually come here after work for happy hour. read more

Came here for the first time and was Skeptical of what I was going to eat. I decided to go with the gator meat on top of the dirty rice, and I was ashamed that I ate it. It wasn't that great, maybe just a meal overall or I could've been me. But I didn't enjoy it. On the other hand, my partner that came with me she enjoyed the cheeseburger with french fries. But what was the most enjoyable part of the entire experience was definitely the drink, I don't remember the name of it So I decided to take a picture. And it was the most enjoyable part of the entire thing. For now it's only three stars but if I go again to try to chicken wings or something like that I'm sure I would rate it a little higher. read more

I have been eating at Gators for a few decades. They used to be very good and very consistent. Wings were always perfect and the staff were always on point. Staff is still fairly good but the food coming out of the kitchen is inconsistent and sometimes downright horrible. Seems lately, most Wings are a badly over fried outside with an inside of dryed out chicken meat. The management is obviously letting everything out of the kitchen with no oversight. For the last few years this have been the norm and unfortunately I may have to move on. This is a sad story and I hope there are some changes before Gators is no more. read more

Wings are great, especially with the Reaper, which is not very crazy at all, just a very hot Buffalo style sauce. Solidly spice. The Portobello Mushroom Burger came recommended. We've been to this location a handful of times in the past and also this past Friday night for a family birthday. They have some good drink specials, including $5 double Smirnoff's - which aside from Ciroc is my vodka of choice. Our waitress this past visit was super friendly and super accommodating to all the little things my family can need. One employee was super sweet, our 6 year old niece had played the stuffed animal claw machine and lost. He snuck by and gave her a cute stuffy he had one earlier. Now that's going above and beyond. Now for the downers. I've just never been a fan of their food. I have tried everything from the wings to the tacos to the cheesesteak and none of it is that good to me. I had the steak quesadilla and that was probably the best thing I've tried so far. It's good, not great. So I say if you're looking for somewhere to watch sports and have some decently priced drinks this is a great place. Just don't expect culinary greatness if you get hungry. read more

I cant comment on how the food taste because of my pork allergy I made them aware of twice, and still they put bacon bit. I ordered off of Uber eats, on the instruction I put *** ALLERGY to pork, no bacon bits ALLERGY***. I followed up by calling the store and speaking to a rude hostess, I expressed how I was allergic to pork products and could not have bacon bits. Her answer was "yeah, ok. I get it, I got the order in front of me." When I got the order there were bacon bits on it. I tried calling the location back and the phone just kept ringing. BEWARE OF CHICKEN! Terrible experience tonite. My husband ordered a chicken sandwich that came out nearly completely raw! It was absolutely disgusting. I've eaten at gators probably 30 times over the last year and today was the worst visit I've ever had. The meal started off with the kitchen guy bringing out my chili with out a spoon and telling me my server should have given me a spoon. Next they bring out my gator tail meal, and I'm wondering why it tastes different than usual. Come to find out the majority of the gator tail was not cooked(see attached picture). The sever then brought out a unsweet iced tea which tasted like it had some cleaning agent in it. I asked her for another one and she brings out sweet tea andargues with me that it's unsweet. I had high hopes for this place because my parents love this place. But to be honest, they're lucky they have 4 stars. The place was very cleans and quiet for a Wednesday afternoon. There was literally 1 other family sitting near us. The waitress took our order right away. Apparently they're known for their wings and ribs. I ordered the wings and my niece ordered the ribs. For what seemed like 50 years ( 45 give or take minutes) the food finally came out. My wings were ehh okay.. I expected them to be hot because they just came out and they weren't. The sauce seemed as though they put cold sauce in the wings. I will say, they were crispy. (I've had way better wings) My niece really enjoyed the ribs. She said it was the best she has had. I am a fan of GD but the Apopka location was no good. I ordered a to go order and was very disappointed. First, I ordered a large Caesar salad and had to pick out half of my salad because the lettuce was rotten. I ordered the buffalo wings well done and they were far from it. Skin was soggy and not crispy at all. I ordered a side of mac n cheese and the small container was half full.
