New Yorker and sweet potato fries
    Alexis F.

I usually do not eat at hotel restaurants, but since I was staying in the hotel and had to stay close for lunch, I decided to give the restaurant located in the Hilton a shot for a quick lunch. I was quickly given a menu and asked what I would like to drink. I perused the menu several times before I decided on the Reuben. The waitress told me that was an excellent choice and made sure that my order came out quickly. The sandwich and sweet potato fries were hot, fresh, and full of flavor. The fries were crispy, and there was plenty of meat overflowing out of the sandwich. I was surprised by how good it was, and I agree that this was an excellent choice. The bill came out shortly afterwards, and I was given plenty of time to pay it or put it on my room account. The service was professional and excellent, and I felt right at home.

We loved this restaurant and bar when we stayed at this Hilton for three nights this July! Breakfast came with our room. (nice perk that was very much appreciated) The first morning was a weekday, so we were able to each choose one item from the menu. Husband had an omelet, hashbrowns and rye toast, while I had Eggs Over-Easy, Bacon, Rye and Hashbrowns. All excellent! Also enjoyed coffee for him and tea for me, with impeccable service from two fantastic Lady Servers. Second morning was a weekend, so breakfast was a buffet. Again, quite good, with the same Gal Servers that all four of us wanted to take home with us to be part of our family. They seriously made us feel part of theirs. If I were in this area again, I would go back for breakfast whether I were staying at the Hilton or not! Sadly, we had to leave too early the third morning to enjoy a third breakfast. Also enjoyed hanging out for drinks all three nights. First two nights, we stayed in the bar area for his and hers (bourbon and wine). Third night, we had more joining us, and they were kind enough to let us hang out for drinks on the restaurant side where there was more room for our bigger group. Totally accommodating and all three nights bartenders and servers were so friendly and efficient. This restaurant/bar truly made our stay at the Hilton special. Kudos and thanks to all there!

My company was having a small regional conference at the Hilton. We had just broke for lunch and headed to the restaurant located on the premises for lunch. I really liked the decor of this Hilton restaurant which is rare for me to say. The staff here is very friendly and attentive. We were promptly seated and our drink order taken. Drinks arrived quickly which was nice. I ordered the crab and corn soup with korean bbq beef taco. The food came in a reasonable amount of time. The souo was creamy with a generous amount if tasty crab. The tacos were loaded with finely shredded beef, and veggies. The spicy tangy sauce inside the taco was really appealing to me. I enjoyed my experience here very much and look forward to dining here for dinner.

A small part of the bar. Great drinks and atmosphere.

Fun fact, diners were started in New England region of America in the 1850s. All this to say, I love a good diner. I mean the American diner has always been there for middle America. The closest one to me and honestly it's definitely hidden away is the Maitland Breakfast Club. It's pretty much situated on the boundary line of where the City of Altamonte Springs starts. They have large space that's casual and what you would expect for a diner. Anyone can walk in wearing their Sunday best to pajamas. The waitresses are very welcoming and exactly the kind of person I would expect to invite me into a diner. We had gone on a Saturday afternoon and they're not a diner that's open late, so more of a breakfast diner really. Now I got the eggs Benedict with bacon and hash browns. For me, there are three breakfast staples I believe all amazing must revisit breakfast places should have. A good cup of warm regular coffee, eggs Benedict, and good crispy hash browns. I mean some places have other things like lattes and hash brown bowls, and I'm not saying those aren't good. However, when you nail the basics, you can do anything else. The hollandaise sauce was great and didn't split and bacon was crispy. The hash browns were super crispy, which I loved, and I could tell it had been made on a flat top grill, which is another very classic American restaurant kitchen appliance. The cup of coffee was good, I mean they had the sugar packets and the creamers right there. Overall, I would rate it a 9/10 and it set us back about $15 for just my portion. I will be back (said menacingly), Maitland Breakfast Club.

Johnny's is a classic, somewhat nostalgic for me, diner experience, the servers were attentive and the coffee was nice and strong but smooth. This reminds me a lot of the Greek diners I went to all the time while growing up in Western New York. Our food came out fast, and everything was good. I got the biscuits and gravy and hash browns. the biscuits and gravy was comforting and the hash browns were actually my favorite thing, they were nice and crispy. My husband got the Greek omelette and hash browns and was happy with his meal as well. As mentioned before the staff was attentive and very nice. Coffee and drinks were being refilled before you noticed you needed it. I think they handle the weekend crowd very well. By the time we were leaving there were people waiting for tables, but it was a very large party so that's to be expected. Just be prepared for that if you come at peak hours. The restaurant itself was homey and gave that classic diner feel. Everything was lived-in, in a cozy way, but clean. The prices were very reasonable and the portions were just right. I would recommend Johnny's diner and will come again.

Odd that a half-empty after-lunch-rush place took so long to be served a simple breakfast plate of eggs and bacon and a BLT and sausage gravy & biscuit. Everything was good, especially the sausage gravy & biscuit. One of the best we've found in quite awhile. Would we go back? Yes, and leave plenty of extra time for the slow delivery of your order. It was freshly prepared. And tasty. But it took a lot longer than we're used to. Good eats, but be ready to wait a long time to get your food.

The sandwich was also good, but I think it could've benefitted from being on sliced and toasted bread instead of potato bun. The egg was also very well done; I prefer it a little jammy or runny. The smashed potatoes were pretty good and it came with a decent amount. The mimosa couldn't used a smudge more orange juice, but it was a double so understandable. What Cafe Perks lacks in elegance, it makes up for with charm and no-frills comfort. You went because you were hungry, wanted a good meal and staple foods. Cafe Perks delivers on those needs! My Dad might have called Cafe Perks a "greasy spoon" but one of the revelations about Cafe Perks is that my breakfast of scrambled eggs, hash browns and rye toast was not greasy at all. Yes, there were fats, but nothing too extreme (although the butter on my toast might have been a bit more than I would have used had I been buttering the otherwise tasty rye). Cafe Perks was clean and the price was great, at less than $10 for my breakfast (before tip).
