We got various quotes…read morefrom several AC companies for all kinds of AC installs (traditional, high velocity and mini duct) and Carringtons was one of the most affordable and also functional. Many companies wanted to do traditional AC which would have meant closing a ton of closet space and having huge vents eating up our walls and/or multiple units/zones. Carrington installed one high velocity system in our finished attic walls (would never even know it was there) and used minimal closet space in 2 closets. The system has been so much more efficient than traditional AC, very quiet and worth every penny. Just make sure you book in advance of summer (or winter if doing heat) as these guys are a small operation and get booked up fast.

I had questions about rebates for heat pumps and he had answers about rebates, rough costs and advantages of the new heat pumps. He reiterated that we didn't need to change out our current equipment but if we feel it's important for environmental reasons there are good options. We'll definitely be using them going forward, and have a fall furnace checkup scheduled.

On the first cold day this winter he claims the heater is all rusted out in the exchanger and has to be replaced, along with the entire system because a new heater can't work with an old air conditioner. Our neighbor suggested we call their guy. He's been in business for 30 years. Needless to say, the heater was not rusted he showed me the unit was very dirty, the fan motor and wheel were clogged with dirt and there were two dead birds in the chimney. The outside air conditioner was only 10 years old. I'm convinced SK had never done anything other than collect their fee and try to sell stuff we didn't want or need.

I woke up in the morning to the base of my water heater overflowing, basement carpet flooded, and…read moreno hot water. I took off from work so I could get everything taken care of and called Horizon to schedule a tech to come out. They told me they had one available and he'd be there between 10am-2pm. After waiting and waiting, I got a call at 1:45 stating the tech was on an all day emergency job and could no longer come. I then was told they could GUARANTEE (the work guarantee WAS used) they could have a tech come between 2pm-6pm. I waited and waited and began calling at 5pm for an updated ETA. I was hung up on FIVE times in a row while being transferred to a dispatcher. Then at 5:30 I got a call stating the tech's truck was stuck in mud(no rain in 3 days? If mud from plumbing job, why would you put the truck there to get stuck?) and they could no longer come. I asked for the supervisor but was told he had conveniently just left prior to the call but had offered a $50 coupon (off of a job that would cost thousands) and to waive the $99 diagnostic fee (which is waived once you hire them anyway). Since this day I have heard several other terrible experiences people have had with them. DO NOT HIRE THEM. I had the job done by The Plumber Guys in Aberdeen who were terrific.
