Didn't eat here so can't really give any opinions. Walked in on July 4 to order drinks. The bar tenders were extremely busy but also very rude! Bar tender like screamed at me well how are you going to pay. The bar was a complete and utter disaster! Dirty cups lined the bar, tables not cleaned up! You KNOW you're going to be beyond busy for July 4th because the fireworks are set off right across the street! Get more STAFF! I'm sure the bar tenders were over worked but that's no reason to be rude! Went to eat breakfast the next morning, again need more STAFF!! So many tables not cleared, the waitresses basically ignoring us as we entered. Miserable experience And tequila shots with no lime........and bartender just said I have no limes. read more

Inside the Barrymore Hotel near the Riverwalk in Tampa. You want in the front doors of the Barrymore Hotel and it's on the left hand side. It's more of Bar then a Restaurant. You go in and seat yourself. When we were there the bar tender was also bringing waters and taking orders of those at the tables. I think there was one dedicated waitress that was servicing some of the tables. It wasn't clear. We got a seat near the bar and were happy. The place wasn't too busy. There were 3 groups sitting at the tables when we arrived and a large party with reserved seating arrived after us and sat behind us up against the window. The bar had maybe 5 people at it when we arrived and they came and went throughout the night. When ordering to go items from the bar they put the drinks in a plastic cup so you can walk along the riverwalk with it. I ordered the smash burger and fries and my husband just had a drink. He wanted to save himself so he could get something at the Buccaneers game which he did. The burger was tasty. My husband had some of it and slathered ketchup and mustard on his bites. I was a bit disappointed with the size of the smash burger. Usually it's a normal size burger and then they smash it and it's then twice the size. This came out regular size so I'm not sure if really was a smash burger or not. I wouldn't order it again due to it being so small and not as tasty as expected. We were happy they had this place to grab a bite before the game. From the map there didn't appear to be any close eateries around the hotel. All were quite a walk down the riverwalk. We wished we could have gone somewhere fancier, but we were short on time. So due to location this is a great spot and prices were reasonable. Just portions were small. read more

We chose to go back to this cozy little restaurant with a big heart, good service and delicious breakfasts while staying at the Barrymore Hotel where we have stayed before. Good breakfasts here! Coffee is on the house! We had the Classic breakfast with eggs, thick delicious bacon, homestyle potatoes and Cuban toast. Friendly service. We will definitely return again. read more

Sheila and Shannon were great in helping set up for our large party. We had tickets to the matinee at Straz at 2pm and wanted something close to the theater around 12pm. We had a group of 11, so they were able to save a little space for us before the show. The party order was pretty split between the smash burgers, chicken & waffles and French Dip sandwiches. A few of us had mix drinks from the bar. Quality was great and everything came out in a timely fashion. After lunch we were able to casually walk across the street to the theater. We came in when before a show at the Straz and I feel that someone called in or just didn't make it as they appeared to have been short staffed. After an incredible evening at a company sponsored Holiday Party, Fab One and I were looking to start something. Start our new morning, that is, with a delectable first meal. We had to look no further than the first floor of our hotel, The Barrymore. I'm usually a bit skeptical about hotel restaurants. I guess I figure they serve underwhelming food for an overcharged price. In the case of Gaudin, thankfully that notion was 1000% wrong. I am SO glad I ordered the Bravas Breakfast Skillet! The combination of Patatas Bravas (a Spanish dish, meaning spicy potatoes), perfectly sauteed onions, two eggs over medium, bacon, avocado puree and a heart-poundingly delicious chipotle hollandaise sent my taste buds happily skipping around The Straz! I am saying here and now, THE BEST skillet breakfast I could ever have imagined or enjoyed. Bravo to the Chef! Fab One got the Breakfast Cuban. NO! Not some suave guy named Juan. I'm her only 'Juan' (JOHN!) The Gaudin version hit ALL the marks. Taste, texture and titillation. (I added that last word just because I can!) My lady loved it. As we people watched, we sipped our hot coffees and relived the events of the eve that had just passed. This entire excursion was magic. We both agreed on that. And closing the book on this trip while sitting there, eating, smiling with every bite? PRicelesS! I just have to mention the service was Gaudin good, too! LOL Thanks to the wonderful Miss Shannon! A+ for convenience before a Straz show. That is the entirety of high marks. The Gaudin is a remodel of the old restaurant in the Barrymore Hotel. It does look different. I met a friend there before a show at the Straz on a Friday night. Our server was very nice and friendly. My friend ordered chicken tendies and fries while I ordered a Smash Burger and fries. I asked for extra pickles and lots of ketchup. I was told they dont have any pickles. Like, at all?? Not a single pickle in the building? Nope. YIKES. When our food arrived, I was very happy with the appearance of the fries and they didn't let me down. They were sort of thinner steak fries. Very good. HOWEVER. The "lots of ketchup" I asked for equated to six packets and I was told that was the very last of the ketchup in the building. Say what? On a Friday night? How is it that a restaurant that serves primarily sandwiches and fries has run out of ketchup? Oooh boy. I used all that ketchup, and it was enough, but I did feel badly for anyone after me. The burger was not my favorite. It was heavily seasoned with thyme? rosemary? Something unusual that didn't work for me. It was thicker than I think of Smash burgers and didn't really give me any of the crispy bits I expect. The bun was fine, the cheese was fine. Our server dropped our food off and we didn't see her again for a good half hour. We weren't offered refills (which we needed), and sat waiting for a good while after finishing our food before we could find her to ask for the check. Overall, it was OK. Located inside the Barrymore Hotel this quaint restaurant and bar offers a casual on site option for dinner and drinks. The menu selection is more limited than offsite restaurants, as one would expect for a hotel restaurant, but still sufficient offerings to satisfy most preferences. The cocktail menu looked enticing, all the standard bar offerings, but the wine choice was more limited on the mid-range by the glass (just my opinion). The service was excellent! This place is no ordinary hotel restaurant. The food is excellent, the service is personable and efficient, and the prices are a bit lower than you might expect for a hotel restaurant in a prime downtown location. As a musician for the Broadway national tour of Wicked, several of my fellow musicians and I ate our meals between shows here during the 3 weeks we were in Tampa, and each time we were impressed with the service and quality of food. Over several visits we had different servers. All of them were great, but more than once we had Komar and he really impressed us every time. We were never there with less than 6 people, and all of us requested separate checks. Komar never wrote our orders down, and never made a mistake when he delivered our dinners! At the end our checks were correct and delivered in a timely fashion. I ordered the Southern Fried Catfish and Cheese Grits twice and each time I was thrilled with the quality of the meal. I also enjoyed the Stout Burger and the Corn Flake Chicken Schnitzel, so you will have to decide which one to order - they're all great! Do yourself a favor and have a nice meal before the show at the Gaudin Kitchen and Bar in the Barrymore Hotel - Ask for Komar, but if he's not there all of the wait staff will treat you right! read more

An interesting concept, probably because this hotel also houses college students . You walk up to the counter, order what you want & they bring it to the table in a box. I ordered the catfish with the Gouda grits. The grits were excellent however the catfish could have used a little more seasoning & it was a little tough. The food was unbelievable. For someone who has traveled and ate all over just the simple pizza and chicken tenders was one of the best I've had. I will say the con might be the breakfast because of the fact the servers don't really acknowledge you and saw a server yelling at a person for leaving before food was there because it was taking very long. We stopped in here for a light dinner on Friday evening. Our 2 Caesar salads and pizza were pizza very good. Although they appeared short staffed, the management circulated and were very helpful. Our only complaint is the atmosphere/decor of the room and the noise level. The floors are concrete and unfortunately, there are several televisions placed around the room making it very difficult to converse with others at your table. Not everyone wants a tv blaring near their table. read more

This is the first bad meal we have had since moving to Tampa 9 months ago. The menu is mediocre and the wait staff- all two of them- were overwhelmed, I guess. It took a long time to get our food and I think our waitress forgot about it because when we finally got it, it was so overcooked. I got "jerk salmon", which was a bad concept to begin with, and an even worse execution. My husband got some kind of steak tips that were burnt to a crisp. It's so convenient to the Straz so that's why we were there but will not return! read more

My husband and I had the pretzels, schnitzel, and a stout burger. All were delicious and came quickly. The servers were very pleasant.

First time here, I enjoyed the food and the service. I will definitely be back. This is a brand new place with a new menu.

It took 20 minutes just to receive a menu which is unacceptable when there was only one table with people at it when I walked in. After receiving the menu it didn't take long for the waitress to come over to get my order. The food on the other hand took as long as the initial service. 40 minutes in the restaurant and only received a water. Once again I got serviced while on the border of walking out. The service was great! Drinks were also good. The house whisky is a rye but it make a a great whisky ginger ale. The pretzel we got was subpar. The mustard was gross and the cheese tasted burnt.
