Let me start off by saying the food was AMAZING!! Best fish & chips I've had in a while! And the atmosphere was very chill. Loved being able to eat outside. However, I was quite disappointed when our food arrived that our fish & chip meals were missing the chips! I went back in & the guy that took our order said he would help me. He brought out the reader to look at the order. He said that he had only charged us for one meal & he could get those started right now. BUT then said he would need to charge me for the other order of fries. Yes, I was disappointed considering that I figured he would have given them since they didn't give us the fries that dud cone with the meal that we had been charged for. But whatever, I just wanted my fries. He came & I had to pay an extra $7 just for the fries. I'm not one to start madness with them, so I sucked it up & paid it. I can say that as good as the fish was, the service was not as good. So the next time I head out to Denver to visit my son again, this will not be one of my stops. read more

The staff isn't very friendly. I suggest letting Doordash or UberEATS deal with the dismissive attitude when doing takeout. Dine-in: Not much better then takeout experience. The staff including the kitchen staff aren't very friendly. God forbid you request additional dipping sauce or malt vinegar. Don't let the illusion of how this place looks like a home fool you. Came in for my first time and had a great experience. The French female cashier was very nice and helpful. We ordered the cod and squid with chips and drinks. We sat outside on a bench around 2pm. The food was delicious. The music is pleasant and the artwork is very nice. I stopped here for lunch yesterday. It's very small and there isn't a lot of advertising, so it would be easy to miss. The parking lot holds 7 vehicles. But the food is good! English pub food. I ordered the fish and chips and went with the pollock. It was one giant plank on a bed of French fries with a fountain drink for $12. Very filling and delicious. This restaurant does have daily specials and HH specials. Looked like mainly beer, I'm not sure if they had a full bar. Very small interior. Order at the counter and they'll bring your food to you. So happy to have such a delicious fish and chips place close to Olde Town Arvada! I've had the combination platter and it comes with a variety of choices. All of them are tasty and can help you choose which plater you prefer for your next visit (you will want to visit again). The batter isn't too thick and it sticks nicely to the fish. I'm not a fan of when the batter automatically falls off the fish or is soggy. If you are a fan of soggy batter, I would suggest you go elsewhere. The tartar sauce that's include isn't too strong. It has a nice subtle taste where I can still had malt vinegar for flavoring. The fries (or proper way of calling it - CHIPS) are thick and have a good crisp to it. Not mushy at all for being thick fries. The venue itself is great for outdoor seating on nice weather days. Plenty of outdoor space and great for the kids to run around. They even have children's tables and a little beach (sandbox). Inside is a little small! The service has always been wonderful the times I've been. Super friendly staff!! read more

As an east-coaster I'm very snobby about my fish. GB's cod fish and chips are my go-to and I often find myself craving it. It's never overly fishy and tastes fresh. The fish is covered in a thick but not heavy batter, the perfect compliment. Plus the chips/fries are the nice thick steak fry style. It's so delicious I get the whole size order and happily force every bite into my mouth despite being incredibly full. Don't be like me, half an order is plenty, I just can't help myself. The cod had a perfect batter: crispy and not too much, with the fish just right inside. Glory be to cod and all. The bangers and mash were a delightful surprise. Tasty, great flavor, nice crispy finish without burning the sausages. The mash had great flavor too, with a hint of sweetness that I wasn't expecting. Oh, and the carmelized onions on the bangers really upped all the great flavors. Can't wait to go back to try the meat pies and pasties. They'll send some frozen ones with you to help hold you over. However in the Arvada store their service is awful! Especially the people who work in the kitchen, who have absolutely no regard for customer satisfaction. I don't know any other place I would recommend to get some really great fried fish/seafood. This British fast-food staple is something I've always enjoyed and sought out at different restaurants, but I think they have it down good. Their array of fish/seafood that you can get battered and fried adds to the experience. In fact, I typically order the sampler, especially if I am taking someone to this place for the first time, so that they can experience the different options (cod, tilapia, prawns, squid, scallops). Now that I think of it, the combo doesn't include oysters...now I know what to get next time. Once I introduced this place to my brother-in-law for the first time, he can't stop thinking about going back. I tease him about Tilapia Tuesdays (which is $1 per Tilapia...a great deal...essentially half off for the fish). Anyways, they also have Happy Hour on their booxy drinks (beer and wells) which I believe is everyday from 3pm to 7pm. But on Monday's it is Happy Hour all day! They have more than just fish, if you have a person with you that doesn't like seafood. There's bangers and mash, shepherd's pie, meat pies, pasties, and sausage rolls. I haven't tried all of these options, but I have found the battered fish to be a 'fresher' option. The banger tends to be a bit on the dark-side (skin is overly exposed to heat...not sure if that is traditional). And sausage rolls are not too shabby. Just beware of the mustard dipping sauce that comes with it. ;-) The clam chowder, though, is top notch as well. Each time I've had it, it perfectly hit the spot. Parking and seating can be hard to find during busy times. And when the weather outside it uninviting (be it cold and/or wet weather), they do have a covered patio, which also has heaters so it stays fairly toasty in there. Once the weather becomes more welcoming, the lawn area adds more seating as well as some entertainment for the old and young (a bocce ball rectangle and sandbox, respectively). read more

Great meal! I had heard lots of good things about GB's and just never made the trip, but I'm so glad we did tonight. In general I'm not a huge fan of fried seafood, I tend to prefer broiled or pan-seared over fried, but I have to make an exception for GBs. This is GREAT food. I had the seafood combo and everything was good, but I was really impressed with the two items I kind of dreaded beforehand - the squid and scallops. These 2 proteins can very easily be overcooked and turn to rubber, but GB's does them right. They were SO good! The scallops even retained their slightly sweet flavor. I've been to seaside shops that couldn't pull off this feat! There are also interesting land‐based items on the menu like bangers and mash, Shepard's pie, and sausage rolls; but those will have to wait for another trip! read more

I will say up front I am not a fan of fish. I would give them 4 stars because I don't normally have much selection going there since it's primarily all fish. However, I will say that they do a great job on their fish and chips. What I have eaten I like. I think their batter is really tasty. Some batters don't fry well and hold grease which alters the flavor, but this place has a great batter that has it's own flavor and doesn't hold the grease so it is rather appetizing. They offer even a few different things that are not fish (bangers/sausages) which are decent. I would not recommend saving the food for long the heat and the moisture of the fish make for a soggy meal, it is 1000 time's better fresh. As for the facility. They keep it clean, it's a cute environment that mimics other locations. The highlight of the Arvada location, however is the outside. They have made it an incredible backyard experience with botchy ball, a sand pit for the kids, as well as other outside toys for kids. It has pic-nic tables and grassy areas if you want to sit on the ground for your own pic-nic. I held my husband's birthday there and our very large family and extended family were able to have a great time eating good food, playing backyard games and keeping the kids entertained. read more

We ordered 9 pieces of tilapia and 2 baskets of fries and when our order was ready we got 8 pieces of fish and 2 VERY skimpy baskets of fries. My husband went back in to the counter and told her we'd ordered 9 pieces she said they'd make 3 more for the inconvenience and the two extras we could keep. So my husband and son ate the 8 pieces and most of the fries (saving some for me to have when my fish came out). About 15 minutes later a very rude lady came out with one small piece of tilapia and sat it on the table and when my husband tried to explain that we were told we'd get 3 more pieces she said "No sir, check your receipt - you only ordered 9 total." It took so long to get the one tiny piece of fish and by that time the fries were no longer hot. Unfortunately we won't return if this rude lady is working there. read more

An outstanding place for fish and chips. We finally have a decent chippie in Arvada. The service is friendly and quick, the food is outstanding, and there are good places to sit whatever the weather. Mostly I've sat on the deck, but I also sat out in the garden, and when it was raining, inside on a stool looking out the window. The first time I came here, a lady remembered me from visiting their Sloan Lake location. How great is that? I ordered the cod and chips, and then discovered they even have a decent British beer to go with. I have never been disappointed here.
