    Cod fish n' chips
    Matt C.

Who knew fish n' chips by the fire was the vibe?! When I first moved to Denver, we visited GB a handful of times. Albeit a different location near our old house. We liked it, but we never came back. Not for any particular reason. I think because so many places serve fish n' chips we were always able to get our fix! Well you know what? GB Fish & Chips deserves its own dedicated visit. Some of the best fish n' chips in town. This location in Arvada is in an old house, boasting a relatively large patio with covered seating and exposed seating. They have a cute little fire pit and I'm telling you what eating proper fish n' chips by the fire was a wonderful experience. Service is quick and simple. Order at the counter and receive your table buzzer. Pick up at the kitchen window and sit wherever your heart desires. Onto the fish n' chips. They claim they batter and fry the fish to order. It must be true, because it's some of the lightest and flakiest fish you'll find. I went with the classic cod last time. The batter was crisp and enjoyable. I felt like the pieces of fish could've been a little heftier, but that's just me. With lemon and tartar, it makes for a satisfying bite! The fries were good, just a bit under seasoned. GB is a solid local chain sticking to what they know and delivering a delicious dining experience. I'll need to pop in here more often and not wait as long to visit as I did last time. If you're craving fish n' chips, try them out!

This place isn't bad but it's not amazing either. I like that they have different fish options that you can choose from. I just feel like it's a little expensive for what it is and the breading was just a little bit too thick. The chips (fries) were pretty good. Again, it is decent fried food but it just wasn't amazing enough for the price point.

Got an order of half cod fish and chips and a Shepards pie - fish was nice and crispy (not too heavy) and the cod was nice and juicy. The tartar sauce they had was delightful - there's also vinegar, lemon, and ketchup for sauces. The pie was Ok - came in a container that made it look like a TV dinner but the flavors were solid. Quick service right near Old Town. Yum!

My husband and I love a good fish and chips with shepherds pie. GB Fish and Chips definitely hit THE spot. There is neighborhood parking along with a few parking spots in the back of the restaurants. This place is wheel chair accessible. If wanting to sit outside, please go out by the front. There is a gate opening and better for those in wheelchair :) other than that, you order then you sit and enjoy the food! The space is super cozy. Food: Fried Cod 5/5 -- the batter was perfectly crispy and light. It was not thick. It was fried to perfection! Coleslaw 5/5 -- the coleslaw had the perfect balance to the heaviness of the fried cod. Very refreshing and not overly drenched with the sauce. Clam Chowder 5/5 -- super creamy and good balance of thickness to it. Loved every aspect of the soul! Shepherd's Pie 4.8/5 -- so flavorful and comforting. Only thing we would love if it was topped with cheese but other than that -- 5/5!! The service was amazing. It was our first time and the cashier helped us with the menu. She recommended some things and everything was spot on. She came by thoroughly to check on us and helped us when we needed her. Overall, it was such a great experience!

I've been here a number of times and this is the only fish and chips place (+ their Denver location) in the state of Colorado so far that never fails to please. They somehow fry the batter extra crispy without drying out the inside AND not "feel" greasy as I'm eating it. The batter is simple yet it doesn't taste boring. They're also generous with nice big portions. No complaints on the fries/chips but I'm mainly here for the fried fish. Also, I usually prefer skinny fries versus the chunkier style fries anyways. Other: -Scallops and squid - texture is pleasant and not too firm and chewy. They know how to fry food here in general it seems. -Shepherd's pie - tastes good but personal preference, I'm not into this type of dish. -Clam chowder - this is average. It'll satisfy a craving for new England style but set your expectations low. Drinks: Decent beer/wine selections to choose from as well as fountain drinks. Nothing too fancy here. Service: Friendly and helpful. The staff I've interacted with seem happy. Vibe: Casual and welcoming. There's indoor and outdoor seating. You seat yourself. Extra: Bathroom's very clean!

Lots of fries, tilapia, and haddock

Love this place, it's super delicious, the store is very cute with great vibes, and staff is super polite!

This location of GB Fish Chips is the newest of the four locations in the Denver area. I had a $5 off birthday reward after joining their rewards program a few years ago. They converted a house into a cute dining space. The back yard became a parking lot for 3 cars + parking for Mini's and a handicap space. The side was converted into a grassy shaded area with picnic tables, a shaded raised deck, two fire pits and a "beach" for the kiddos. The location is on Ralston Rd two blocks west of Wadsworth Bypass near Olde Town Arvada. Inside is counter seating and 2 large community tables. I noticed their prices have not increased. I was served by Brennan M doubling as cashier. I got the full meal of 6 pieces of fried cod with Chips (steak fries) and curry sauce for dipping + Iced tea with free refills. Lots of English royalty memorabilia featuring Queen Elizabeth and Princess Diana. I asked Brennan and the owners have not embraced the new King. The inside had a pub vibe. Several people came to pickup online orders.

This could be how they prepare it in Britain! I don't know as I've never been. Not my cup of tea heh. But my order of fish and chips could have been so, so much better if the chips and Cod were fried a little longer, a little crispier.. Which is how I plan to order it on my 2nd visit. Interior and exterior is so homey but lively. Tons of space for large parties. The woman working the front counter is a gem. Super friendly, welcoming, informative. Loved the malt vinegar. No veg. friendly options forrrreal but would you really expect them here? SHOULD you? No. I'm definitely coming back!

What's a bit of a drive when you're driving to delicious shepherd's pie?…read more I thought you'd agree - totally worth it! Their scotch eggs are banging too. In fact, we didn't eat anything that wasn't well seasoned, cooked to order and authentically British. Not an easy find, if you ask me. We sat at their bar, chatted with the bartender - who was really friendly and checked on us often. The place was packed, but we got in quickly and you'd never know they were popping. Their cocktails were amazing and after some chit chat about what I liked and didn't, the suggestions were fabulous. Loved the British decor as well. Such a fun place. It was a lovely evening and we hated to leave, but we'll def be back!

The location is kind of in the middle of nowhere but that's not a bad thing. Lots of parking and outdoor space to wait for a table or pull up a chair. The service is a little stiff and slow but what can you expect from a pub style restaurant. It can get pretty busy inside especially around holidays so definitely make a reservation if you plan on having a big party or don't want to sit at the bar. As far as English/Irish food goes this the only serious contender in the area, i haven't found another UK restaurant that quite mimics the pub atmosphere as well as this one. Check it out for some stick to your ribs goodness!

Most of the staff know up by site, if not by name, and they are usually a fun and friendly group. My regular drink order is a Car Bomb and a Jameson and Ginger, single, short with a lime. My food order varies, but I do love their fries, and their ranch dressing ain't bad either. The Falafel Wrap is really good for an Irish place. The Grilled Cheese is phenomenal, even without the bacon. The Beer Cheese soup is also excellent without the bacon, actually. They also have White Bean Chili that is vegetarian (vegan possible), which I have tried but found too spicy for my taste. They also have Seitan Wings... I love them and get them often, but they are more like seitan nuggets than wings. Easier to eat though IMO. Chad's had many of the meatier fare, but he'd have to tell his own story on that subject. For dessert, the Bread Pudding is to DIE for! Thankfully, it's also quite filling, so I rarely end up eating it all. If you love 'Pub Vibes', definitely check this place out! If you aren't into a noisy bar/pub atmosphere, probably don't come here on a weekend or most weeknights. With the lively chatter and sometimes live music, it lives up to the Irish Pub name!

Stopped in on what turned into a pretty busy Friday night, and the place is interesting to say the least. It's a converted old house, so all of the dining/bar areas are tucked into different rooms, around corners, up and down stairs. Ended up sitting at the bar in the first room. The bartenders were friendly, knew the regulars and their orders, and did their best with the rush. Oddly, there is a "seat yourself" policy, but because of the quirky layout that seems to involve wandering room to room, on multiple levels, until you find a spot. At one point, one of the bartenders was told there were no more seats, and she replied to the customer "Yeah, we might need to start a list. Try upstairs and we'll get to you." Later on, she said to the other bartender "I should check upstairs to see if I have any tables up there"- bad news for anyone seated up there. As far as the menu, it's pretty large and all over the place. I'd expected Irish staples and while they were there, I was surprised to see items like a falafel wrap, Buffalo wings, spinach-Artichoke dip, a shrimp basket, ribs... when I see a menu like that, I'm always prepared for pre-made food from some distributor and nothing special. Ended up getting the Shepherd's Fries, Beer Cheese Soup and Irish Castro (Irish spin on a Cuban). The fries were good, and the portion was MASSIVE. 3-4 people could easily split them as a large appetizer. The soup was pretty good, but nothing great, as was the Irish Castro. The one ding on the Castro is the pickles are huge, and pretty overpowering. All-in-all, it's a fun and kitschy place, and I see why the regulars come back. Decent food, friendly service, a little disjointed, but I would describe it as a good place to hang with some friends and catch a game. It's not really a traditional Irish Pub with yummy Irish staples.

The flavor of the clams and potatoes came through nicely, and the soup was satisfying. I only wish there had been pepper available on the table to enhance it further. I also sampled a piece of the chicken. It arrived extremely hot, impressively flaky, and generously portioned. It was well-prepared and enjoyable. The fish itself was good, though slightly fishy, with an underlying flavor I couldn't quite identify. It wasn't unpleasant, just noticeable. The accompanying sauce tasted like mayonnaise with a hint of dill but lacked depth and overall flavor. A lemon wedge would have helped brighten the dish. The meal, however, left me feeling quite heavy from the amount of oil. While I appreciated the quality and preparation, it is not something I see myself returning for due to how rich it felt afterward. As for the restaurant itself, the building looks worn, like it has been here a long time. The doors appear in need of a fresh coat of paint--gray and visibly dirty--and the floor felt oily underfoot. While I was there, the tables were being cleaned and sports were playing on the TV overhead, giving the space a casual, local feel. That said, the service was good--friendly, welcoming, and attentive. I did get the impression they could use more business, which is unfortunate because the staff clearly cares about the experience. Overall, a decent meal with strong service, but the heaviness of the food and the condition of the space make it unlikely I would return
