My mother is a Humana insurance member, and she was charged thousands of dollars for dental crowns that should have been covered. The office either failed to verify her insurance benefits properly or deliberately misled her about coverage. After being concerned about the high out-of-pocket costs, my mother sought a second opinion at a different dentist. To our shock, we were told that the crowns are fully covered under her Humana plan and should never have required such a large payment. This raises serious ethical concerns about the practices at this office. Either they are not competent enough to properly process insurance claims or they are intentionally overcharging patients for procedures that should be covered. This is not just frustrating--it's financially and emotionally damaging to patients, especially seniors on fixed incomes. I strongly encourage others to get a second opinion before agreeing to any major work here and to verify everything independently with your insurance provider. We will be reporting this office to Humana and the appropriate state dental board. Patients deserve transparency and honesty--not predatory billing.

My surgery was yesterday morning and boy am I glad it's over...BUT, I want to give this establishment some major praise. Dr. Cote is really a godsend. I'm so glad my current dentist refers her patients to Dr. Cote for periodontal work. His bedside manner is what every patient needs and dreams of. Every person I have talked to in this office has been so pleasant and helpful...from the front desk with Billy & Trina, to Dr. Cote's assistant, Deb. I arrived at my scheduled appointment time and I was called back shortly after. The doctor thoroughly briefed me on what would be happening that morning and outlined the post op procedures and was patient with me with additional questions I had. I chose to stay awake during the process. Dr. Cote gently numbed me up with multiple shots of Novocain (this process was truly the most "pleasant" numbing situation I've ever experienced...usually this is the PITS). During the surgery, he talked me through of what he was doing and what I would be feeling with the different instruments going into my mouth. His assistant, Deb, was spectacular. She had the air suction going the whole time and suctioning excess liquid at the right spots the entire duration. This duo was exceptionally clean and truly masterful at their jobs. Not once did water or anything else splash up into my face. Previous experiences at dental establishments, I recall having water running down the side of my face onto my clothes...and debris splashing up onto my face. If you ever need periodontal work done and happen to get referred to this place, you are in the BEST hands. The doctor gave me a ring last night just to make sure I was doing okay. That's world class service right there.

One of the things that I love and have always loved about this practice is that they know exactly who you are when you walk in. Another thing I love is that I have never waited long to be seen. Ever. I've had the same hygienist for a few years now and she is wonderful and gets the job done. I love being able to ask questions and not feel rushed about it. There is always a little bit of unease when practices switch practitioners and I have friends that have not had great experiences when things change. I have been utilizing Hoffman Family Dental for almost a year now. Their scheduling is horrible…read more They use a text message / Whats App only number for scheduling and changing appointments and on more than one occasion my text messages have gone unanswered. Yet, when you are unable to answer them immediately, they cancel your appointment. They called me yesterday, a workday, in the middle of the day and I was unable to answer because I was in a meeting. I could not call them back after work because they close at 4pm (prior to the close of normal business hours). I called them back at 10am this morning, the first break that I could get at work. When I called them back, they notified me that because they had texted me at 8am and I did not respond until 10am, they cancelled my appointment. Keep in mind, I made this appointment 6 months in advance because getting an 8am appointment is virtually impossible and I work from 8am-5om, mid-day appointments are not conducive with my work schedule. And of course, they offered me rescheduling options but could not seem to find me an 8am appt, WHICH IS WHY I MADE MY APPOINTMENT 6 MONTHS IN ADVANCE. Also, I have never been seen at 8am for an 8am appointment, they are barely ready to start business at that time and twice I have arrived before the staff. The Casselberry office is not business professional friendly. The hours are not conducive to patients who work.
