We had a fun dinner at Olde Colonial Café. It was a quite a bit fancier than I expected. Both the hostess and our waiter were really fantastic and a real highlight. The food was ok. I got a turkey dinner special. It wasn't special but it was tasty enough. The restaurant felt a little old school due to it being such a long-time establishment so it seemed fitting to have a Schlitz. At the end of the evening we received our left overs in matte black take away boxes and the waiter replated the food in the box with a surprising amount of artistry! It was pretty slick. There are several municipal lots within close walking distance to OCC. Nice date night. read more

Great food and service. I took my family here on a Friday night. My wife made a reservation. We were sat prompt once we got there. The place was pretty crowded and seemed like a local crowd. We are a family of five so a pretty good mix of food at the table. All of the servings were huge. Started with a cup chowder and a plate of mussels, both were very good and would definitely recommend. Chicken Romano was a beast of pasta and chicken - a chicken park plate without the mozzarella. Sweet potato crusted haddock was great. Wonderful combination of flavors. Huge sides of vegetables Honey fired chicken was so much food. Fired chicken breast drizzle of honey was moist and flavorful. Think thanks giving dinner but fried chicken. Chicken Angelo was a tower of chicken and seafood served a bowl of vegetables. My bottomless pit of a teenager could not finish it but came close. Petit tenderloin was cooked to order and served with a side of au jus. All of the meals were great. Service was friendly. The place is a little tight and noisy but they can accommodate large parties. If I went there tonight and was told I had to order exactly the same thing I would not be disappointed, except that there a bunch of items in the menu I want to try. read more

We had a 12/10 experience with the OCC tonight and would definitely recommend! During these unprecedented times, going out to eat is what I miss most. The OCC has always been a go-to spot for dinner in Norwood. It has great quality food, good atmosphere, and great customer service. My boyfriend and I placed a curbside pickup order (great that they have that!) and we had an amazing experience. The sweet potato crusted haddock reminded me of a cozy Thanksgiving meal, and our chicken nugget appetizer awakened my taste buds when dipped in the sweet&sour sauce. SUCH a great meal. The pickup process was super smooth as well. I paid over the phone, and an employee brought the food out to my car with gloves and a mask on. Made me feel much more comfortable ordering from here. Had a Celebration of life there and it was wonderful. We had about 50 people attend in the upstairs function rooms. Great waitstaff, bartender. Buffet was plentiful and very good food which was boxed up to take home. Attention to detail with candles, fresh flowers and linens. TV in bar or dining are was used for a presentation. Paul is very accommodating and pleasant to work with. Only negative is they do not accept Credit Cards for events or the cash bar during the event. ATM on premise was broken and one of the attendees had to go next door to that ATM to settle the bar bill. A sign stating cash only or the bartender letting folks know that when ordering or setting up a tab at the bar would have avoided this uncomfortable interaction with the bartender. Otherwise I would highly recommend this business for small, less than 100, functions. read more

This is a good local setting. The food here isn't the best I've ever had, but it's pretty good and they've got a great local setting. This restaurant used to be the old firehouse, and it's got a wonderful rustic appeal. The service is friendly and upbeat and the food, as I've said, is good. Pros: -Excellent interior and overall vibe. It feels like a place you could find in the city. -Great food options; they have all the American pub crowd-pleasers, along with some stick to your gut comfort food (mostly pasta dishes). -Service is attentive and friendly. -Excellent appetizers and bread. Meh: -The entrees can be hit or miss. We had a bad experience with the chicken that we added to the top of a salad (just chewy with a lot of gristle and fat). We had a good experience with the meatball sliders. The Caesar salad wrap was mediocre at best. Cons: -The menu needs more details. What's on the burger? What's in the buffalo chicken sliders? More detail would ensure I'll like what I order, and get me more excited about ordering it! -The chocolate martini was horrific. First off, I've never seen a crystal clear (not brown) chocolate martini. Secondly, it was very strong to the point where it burned drinking it. Was it made with cheap, chocolate flavored vodka that comes in a gallon jug? It sure tasted like it. Suggestion: -I'd love to see more burger options. You have a create your own pizza section of the menu, and you already have a burger on the menu... just outline topping options (cheese, bacon, veggies, sauces like BBQ, ketchup, etc) and make it a create your own burger! I think people would like that. -Get beer on tap, and make it craft! -The lighter fare section of your menu does not contain many low calorie dishes. Potato skins, pasta, etc should not be on the lighter fare section. read more

A family memorial event was held in the upstairs function room. The service for the event was superb. The food prepared was very good. They prepared meatballs, pasta, a scrod bake, stuffed chicken breast, Caesar salad, roast beef and some superb rolls. Couldn't have asked for better food or service. read more

Wanted to try something new so we decided to try something old.Went to the Old Colonial years and years ago when you needed to send out a search party to find you if you got lost because it was than located in a residential neighborhood without almost no signage. The new location is convenient ,right in Norwood Center,a converted firehouse. The new location is not only convenient but a warm,comfortable room with a long bar down one side.OK selection of beers.Did not notice a tap.Fair wine selection. As for the food,some things changed from the old menu as I remember it,no longer have prime rib (which was huge) but did keep many fried items (clams,Onion rings,ect).Portion sizes are great,bring an appitite.Prices are still very reasonable.Service is friendly. For our meal we started with an antipasto ,more like a salad but lots of fresh Italian cold cut and cheese ,with Italian dressing .I chose "veal Bret ti" light ,buttery lemon sauce with choice of pasta. Melt in your mouth! New favorite here. My wife got 9 oz steak with grilled veggies and sweet potato mash,grilled to perfection,and sides were great. Been here a few times - great local spot. Had a burger the first visit, which was just okay. But have since had their roast beef au jus and have gone back several times specifically for that. After researching a few places for our upcoming rehearsal dinner, we decided to have dinner here one night. My sister and I shared an onion ring app, which were tasty beer battered salty goodness! We both got a pasta-chicken dish [ chicken romano, and chicken broccoli ziti in alfredo], and my fiance got the baked haddock. The potions were huge! I actually data my dish for lunch and dinner the next day. The sauce was a little sweeter than I'm used to, but had a nice, tangy taste. My only problem was that they do not have a draft, so everything is bottled, but there's an OK selection. I chatted with the function manager, and got to view the upstairs room - very cozy, and it has its own private bathrooms.She was very energetic, and even suggested her favorite dishes for us to think about. The OCC has a great menu for any type of water. The food is always good. Located on the corner of up town Norwood can make it hard for parking. If you can't find street parking you can park out back or in one of the town lots. Always a good meal. read more

After making renovations, i would say thisi is one of the nicest looking bars in Norwood. The food and service here were both spectacular. I was there for a party and i would say this was some the best buffet food I have had in a long time. Being Italian, i like a good sauce, and the OCC has just that. Paul Angelo and his crew offered a Beef Tenderloin wrapped in bacon Christmas Dinner for up to 10 people this year that was well above and beyond expectations. Cooked to perfection with roasted potatoes, roasted mixed vegetables, rolls and apple pie, the tenderloin proved to be the hit of the dish. Our Mom passed away and the funeral home suggested the OCC for a reception afterwards. They have a "bereavement" package that offers a lovely Buffett with numerous delicious choices as well as desserts. They even had fresh flowers on the tables in our private space. Everything was lovely and we were so pleased. Paul, the owner even took the time to speak with us and offer his condolences. Nice nice staff as well. Lovely experience. read more

My boyfriend and I come here every so often for date night. We've never been disappointed! The atmosphere is intimate plus the seating arrangements are versatile. You can sit at the high top bar that runs through the middle of the restaurant, a standard table, or at the actual bar. The downstairs is an open space with a large projector screen on the wall. The servers have always been friendly, speedy with drink refills, good at checking in, and attentive. Now the most important part: Bread & Oil - I'm a sucker for bread & olive oil, but (as with the sliders) the bread is so wonderful! Bruschetta - A plentiful layer of tomato, mozzarella, and balsamic in each bite. I definitely recommend getting it. Mozzarella Sticks - These are okay, but I'm pretty sure they're frozen. The marinara dipping sauce was enjoyable though. Meatball Sliders - The meatballs are really good. They're seasoned well, the sauce is delightful and the rolls are just crunchy enough. Buffalo Chicken Sliders - Nice and spicy, the pieces of chicken are big and the cheese is perfectly melted. Tomato Basil Wheat Pizza - Generous portion of basil, which a lot of places don't usually do. So that was a nice surprise. Few places offer a wheat crust but I just think it tastes better than standard crust. Turkey Club - Huge! I seriously don't know how my boyfriend managed to bite into this. He said it was one of the best clubs he has ever had. I'm not a big club fan, but happy hubby = happy me. Mashed Potatoes - Delicious! Creamy, buttery and all things yummy. I've also been here for several baby showers and the staff is great. They're very accommodating in terms of decorations, helping with set up, serving, etc. Plus the buffet food is just as tasty! The roasted potatoes are consistent in texture and seasoning. The stuffed chicken is one of my favorites - the stuffing is moist and the chicken is breaded well. The CBZ is also scrumptious. There's a proportionate amount of each ingredient and the alfredo isn't too heavy. For functions, they also offer the option to add a delightful champagne punch to your buffet package. read more

I've been here 3-4 times now and based on other visits would consider a four star rating for the OCC. Unfortunately my last visit was worthy of only 2 sad little stars. I don't want to go into details and blame one person for the issues of the evening so let's just say they were way understaffed and the patrons suffered. We really should have been comped at least one round of drinks for our trouble. The food itself is decent. My friend haddock was amazing and I had enough for a full-size meal in left-overs. My dad seemed to enjoy his fried clams but my mom wasn't too thrilled with the shrimp skewers special. Prices are a little high for the quality and the location, hovering at the $15 range per meal but I suppose that's still lower than city prices. The new-ish OCC location is nothing compared to the old place. It was a Norwood institution was I was a kid and I loved nothing more than heading down there with the family for a steak the size of my 8 year old head (to the shock of the waitresses) and the best onion rings in the universe. The Nahatan St restaurant definitely has a classier appeal but the famous onion rings have suffered in the transition. read more

The OCC in Norwood has not let us down in 5 visits in 2014. Everyone is friendly and the food is awesome. The owner is always around and can typically be found greeting and seating patrons. Every meal we have had is great, my personal favorite is the lobster casserole which is a frequent special and the shrimp cocktail are as big. My wife loves the roast beef sandwich. My expectations were high since I used to come here often way back when it was Carla's and it held great sentimental value to me. So many wonderful times and incredible meals. Fantastic staff and owners with dishes and presentations ahead of their time. It was funky upscale, trendy, cool and sheer perfection. Well as they say---"not no more". Now it's pretty below average, run of the mill food you can find anywhere. It's still a great space but wasted space. It has the potential to be out of this world unique so the owners should step up and take a look back at what a quality restaurant it once was and pay homage to that. read more

I went here for an after work gathering and had some drinks and appetizers. The appetizers were all very good. It was built in an old fire station, and the interior has a lot of wood which felt very pub-like. The only complaint that I had was the bar didn't have draft beers - just bottled.
