If I could leave no starts I would. My husband's truck key broke, and he called the parts department at Gene Messer Ford in Lubbock. After being on hold for over 20 minutes, a man answered the phone. He was very short, didn't really explain why the prices were the way they were, and then when my husband commented in surprise that a new key would cost close to $300.00 according to the parts guy, the part's guy made a snarky comment and hung up the phone. Bought brand new vehicle here & had some trouble with it & they have not fixed it nor do they return your phone calls when you call them. I have left multiple messages & and not one person has called me back. They just want your money & they are done with you. Use your hometown dealers, even if you have to pay a bit more. Gene Messer Ford had a used car I was looking for. They only had one key. It cost me $477 to get another key. In a couple of days neither key would work. Car was towed in. It took 10 days to get second key, then 9 days to supposedly get keys to work. They worked 3 days. I found a good locksmith that fixed problem in a few minutes for $134. You basically cannot get anyone on the phone. Repairs take forever and usually require three times to get right, then cost a great deal. I think people are trying, but are terribly overworked. Go somewhere else. read more

The salesman, Blake, was very helpful and made the whole process very easy. He took care of my needs without seeming too pushy like car salesman can often be. The finance guy was also very nice but seemed to take it personal when I refused to buy any of the add-on stuff they always try to sell you. I had been treated very badly by the service department at another area dealership. I called Gene Messer and explained the issue with my car as well as the horrible experience with the other dealership. They were upfront about the time required to bring the car in and complete the work. It turned out to be a completely different problem from what the other service department at the other dealership said. However, the other guys caused more problems by trying to reset a module. Long story short, the guys at Gene Messer fixed one issue with the extended warranty and fixed the original problem and only charged for the parts and no labor because I'd had such a bad experience (and wrong diagnosis resulting in more problems) with their competitor. I'll definitely be a Messer customer from now on! read more

Jimmy Stallings and his employees do not care about their customers at all. My truck has been at their shop for 35 days so far for a warranty timing belt and they still can't tell me when it will be completed. No integrity, and they will not return my multiple requests for updates. read more

Drove 600 miles to get to Messer Ford after several conversations with their internet department and being told they use NADA for their trade in values only to get low balled on the trade in price, way below the NADA and then we were shown a dirty vehicle to consider for purchase. Then they called after we were 300 miles away and started offering better deals. Good luck with these guys. I notice that they have most of the Dealerships in the Lubbock area, Guess they think they have a monopoly on the car business there and can treat you anyway they want to. I want to thank Gene Messer Ford, Cat and the service department for their incredible service. My husband and I were driving from San Antonio to Lubbock for my sons graduation. Right as we pulled into the Lubbock-about 4pm on a Friday-the sunroof of my Explorer shattered into a gazillion pieces. We arrived at 4:30 and by 5:05 they sealed off the broken sunroof and had us on our way. At no charge. Oh and the tech who sealed it off for us? Took my truck in for a Ford recall and the service advisor Heather Chapman stated she would order the parts and therefore I went ahead and scheduled an appointment the following week. My truck was in the shop for almost 3 days. After leaving multiple messages with Mrs. Chapman she finally decided to do her job as a customer rep. and called me back on the third day and basically feed me a load of bull. She stated that my truck had a special vin# and therefore the right parts did not come in (took Mrs. Chapman and these so called Certified Ford Technicians three days to figure this out). Heather Chapman then stated that she had ordered the right parts this time and would call me once they arrived to get the recall knocked out. Still waiting on that phone call folks, been over a month! Left a message the other day to follow up with Mrs. Chapman and of course no response back, I was not surprised. Too busy to call back customers that continue to put food on your table! At this point feed up with the whole ordeal, I decided to call Stanley Ford in Brownfield. Service Department at Stanley Ford had the part in stock, in and out in less than 2 hours and no excuses or issues about my truck having a special vin # (one of three) and not being able to install the part. If Heather Chapman would have done her job in the first place and ordered the right part, she wouldn't have to give me such a lame excuse for not delivering my truck on time (within a few hours). I will continue to drive 60 miles out (round trip) or further to another Ford dealership just to avoid Gene Messer Ford all together. Is it really that difficult to hire and train quality service advisors who actually come to work to help customers (The only reason you hired them)? I called them the night before to set up an appointment to get the alignment on my 2009 Mustang Shelby Cobra fixed. They told me that if I brought it in at 9 a.m., they could have it done in two hours, including a car wash. I took it in the following morning and got a ride home with my husband. Five hours later, I called to see if it was finished. They said, "he's driven it but it hasn't been fixed yet since the alignment machines are all occupied." When asked whether it had been washed, they told me no. I hung up wondering why on earth they would need to drive it to determine an alignment problem when a simple glance at the tires or placing it on the machine would tell them what they need to know. An hour later, I called to tell them I was picking it up; I was uncomfortable with them at this point. They seemed untrustworthy. When I picked up the car, they had put thirty miles on my odometer, the inside of the car smelled like musty bodies and grease, my media settings had been changed, and there were greasy smudges all over the controls and gear shift. It was still dirty and had not yet been fixed. The car now idles strange; I know whoever took it for their little joy ride rode it HARD, as I never do. These people lied to me, abused my trust and my car and I would never, ever, ever send anyone to their service department again. I wish I could give them zero stars. read more

My son is a student at Tech. He needed a tail light replaced. I called the Part Dept and spoke to a super nice man that told me the part was in stock and it would be $77.63. I was transferred to the Service Dept. and talked to a young lady that was also very helpful. She told me that the install is a $30 flat fee. I told my son to go the next morning to get it taken care of so he could get his truck inspected. My son went to the dealership and spoke to a "Service Writer". The first question the man asked my son is, " Do you have the names of the people that gave you the quotes?". I didn't think to get the names. (My fault!) When I asked why is it necessary, I was told "incase it's different prices". Again....silly me thinking no way the prices could go up that much in less than 24 hours. I was wrong!!!! The new quote to MY COLLEGE SON was..... part- $100 and it had to be ordered from Ft. Worth. The install was now $65. The low end would be $165 and the high end would be $230. :/ It seems very sketchy that the prices went up that much in less than 24 hours. I called the dealership and visited with a few people. I was told that prices do go up like that in 24 hours but it did seemed high. The young lady I spoke with said that she would visit with her Service Dept. Mgr about my complaint. I hope that this type of business is resolved. I would hate to think that Gene Messer Ford is taking a advantage of families like this. Angela Moore read more

Service Advisors are not helpful. When asked to follow up or call back, no response. I had to drive there to get a status update on my vehicle that had been there for 8 hours and has not even been diagnosed. "Sorry, we had 3 other vehicles ahead of yours" so clearly their customer service stinks too. Not using this service again. I would give a minus score if offered. read more

We purchased a new truck on 6/24. As of 9/23 we still have not received the registration tags. We have been to the dealership three times, called several times. No luck. Finally after daily calls and voicemails left this week, we were able to get in touch with someone that told us that there was no inspection done at sale, so that is what the hold up is. Of course, over the last 3 months, not once has anyone at the dealership called us to let us know this. So now, one more trip on my dime to the dealership. Gene Messer, you need to work on your customer service and follow through after the sale. read more

Last week my husband had contacted Gene Messer service department and spoke to a man named Mike about a check engine light that came on on his pickup. He said they were a day and a half behind to come up there Monday between 7 and 7:30 to get the diagnostic of the truck done I arrived on Monday at 7:04 and asked if I could also get an oil change since the truck was already in the service department five hours later they have not looked at my pickup and it just doesn't oil change when I went to pick up my pickup I was asking different questions the entire time Mike argued and argued with me he was very rude very disrespectful and I will not be going back to Gene Messer Ford I asked to speak to the general manager I was told no he brought me to the service manager it was a complete mess I do not recommend anyone going to the service department at Gene Messer Ford I will be taking all of my stuff to Smith South Plains here in Levelland read more

We are very pleased with our new Ford F150 Lariat that we purchased from Gene Messer Ford. Dylan Hitchcock was very helpful and listened to us about what we wanted and then helped us find that truck. He was so professional and did not pressure us at any point. Dylan knew how to set up the technology in the truck and that was a huge help. He also helped with some after sale additions to the truck. Had an urgent recall (door latches gave way on newish Ford Fusion). So I strapped the doors shut and drove from Midland to Lubbock for service, because they are just that good. And somehow, they managed to get it done that same day. They really took good care of me and worked very hard to make sure I didn't have to make two trips to Lubbock to get the fix I needed. My elderly father-in-law complained his battery kept going dead after he had had his vehicle in for service on other issues. We returned to service where we were promptly greeted by a gentleman who quickly and professionally treated my father-in-law like he was his best friend. They held the vehicle for a few days while they ran diagnostics. They determined that his new battery acquired from autozone had a bad cell. They let us pick the battery up and return it to autozone and then reinstalled the battery. Their charge for all their time...ZERO. They thanked him for his past business. Took my 2014 Ford Focus to Gene Messer Ford today 4/19/2017 in for an oil change/tire rotation and Trans reprogramming at 7 A.M. The experience was good, friendly, and comfortable. However I had an appointment which I made on Monday 4/17/2017. First I was told the Trans service person they have one, was in school today, this wasn`t expected with my appointment, they should have notified me prior to coming in. The oil change, inspection (free) I guess was done. The tires were not rotated, which I noticed after I had left the shop. My bad. but really? I did take the car back because I had payed for this service. they did rotate the tires. Just saying, if you pay for a service, have an appointment, with a specific (Trans reprogram) item needing to be preformed I should have been notified prior to my arrival, and above all make sure the service you are being charged for is actually done. I get to return for the trans reprogramming on 4/26/2017. I guess we will see. read more

This dealership is horrible. I bought a brand new car. The remote start wouldn't work. It took them a month to get it working. The car came back filthy. There was literally a cubic foot of cobwebs on the back seat. There was an oil smudge on the door. I had them put stripes on it. It came back without stripes on the top. The antennae was missing. They didn't put the license plates or stickers on it while they had it for that month. I was promised updates and calls to be returned promptly and I had to hunt people down to get answers. Now I still have to get them to fix the stripes and they don't even offer me anything to make amends for this ridiculous treatment. read more

Went in because my 2010 f150 was not starting "bad battery" I thought, they ran 4 hours worth of test to tell me it was fine.... worked fine for a few week (didn't not drive for more than 24 hours). Last night after 3 days of sitting went to start it up and nothing... I was furious! Called them and not only did it take multiple times for them to answer when they did all they could tell me was they had to do the 4 hour test again!! It takes 15 min to test a battery at walmart! I don't have time to be dealing with that kind of service... HORRIBLE SERVICE! I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT BAD EXPERIENCES WITH THIS PLACE! read more

I purchased a car from them. Less than 2 days after having the vehicle it wouldn't start every time. I took the vehicle up there, they told me I was going to have to leave it. I asked for a loaner. The 1st loaner had no AC the second loaner has no inspection and no tail lights. We are now at 3 weeks since they have had the vehicle and nothing has yet been fixed. The 1st 4 people I dealt with had nothing to say but "nothing we can do" finally I talk to someone who will actually do something but she has called me 3 days in a row to tell me yes I can pick it up but that day she calls to tell me it's still not fixed. Then when I go up there upset they don't want me to cause a scene in front of their customers. News flash I'm a customer too who has gotten nothing but no car and excuses. OH and did I mention we have to make a car payment for a car we haven't driven for more than 2 days DO NOT GO HERE FOR ANYTHING THEY WILL MESS U AROUND ANY WAY THEY CAN. read more

Gene Messer has serviced my Lincoln MKX for the past two years, and even though I didn't purchase it from them, I get royal treatment every time. I had what appeared to be scratches on the passenger side front door panel, and it turned out to be some hard substance. Their service department had their body shop buff them off good as new and didn't charge me. And if I prefer not to wait, they give me a courtesy ride back home. read more

Salesman Dylan Hitchcock was great to work with and I would recommend him to anyone. However, the rest of the experience was absolutely horrible. The Lincoln manager Steve Z. was rude to Dylan in front of us, and acted as if we were a bother to him rather than a paying customer who was purchasing their 4th vehicle at Gene Messer Ford. The finance department was extremely pushy, not wanting to take NO for an answer on extended warranties, leather warranties, and dent repair warranties. Items were charged on the contract that I specifically told them to take off. Worst car buying experience ever. I will never give my money to Gene Messer Ford again. Took my Escape in on Friday for an oil change and unclog washer. Left it all day. Flor Lop called the wrong phone number to discuss washer part so I missed the message. When I went to pick up the car Flor told me they had the part and to double check on Monday before I brought it in. On Monday I called at 7:15 a.m. She could not reach the Parts Dept and said she would call back. Brandon called back at 8:15 and I had to explain the whole thing to him so he transferred me over to the Parts Dept. Josh told me they didn't have the part and would have to call around town to locate one. I said I'd bring my car in and he said I had to talk to the Service Dept and make arrangements. Some guy answered and said in a muffled tone they were full and couldn't see me today. This is after the fact I had already made arrangements to bring it in. I am so disappointed that I had to go through all this for a $300 job that takes only an hour and a half to do. I was also quoted 2 different prices on the part. I feel like I was doing their job for them at their convenience. They have given me excellent service for the last 9 yrs and I am not happy about this. Somebody else can start having my business. read more
