The sales department, and the service department are in two separate buildings, and I quickly found out why. The service department is very bad at what they do. Unfortunately our RV has needed more maintenance than it has actually been on the road. I realize parts have to be ordered, it's a process. However there is no excuse for the lack of communication. They rarely if ever call you back about anything. If you break down and call them back, they transfer you around, and nobody knows anything. They have radios on the lot, and they still somehow cannot communicate. Back in late November we had our Grand Admiral dropped off for some very routine maintenance, and that maintenance wound up taking much longer than expected so we decided to just leave the vehicle there until after the holidays. When we finally picked up the vehicle, many of the items had not been addressed, some of the repair work was done with tape...actual tape. Also our tail light was somehow busted on the lot. The solution for this was for them was to put tape over the tail light and "call us" when the parts come in. The service attendant who waited on us had a very bad attitude towards my father about his maintenance concerns. Everything he said seemed to aggravate her. At one point we raised voices, and she reached out and touched my arm, when we are supposed to social distance during a pandemic. When we asked for a manager little to nothing was done about the situation. I've tried calling corporate office, and even sent an email with no reply in weeks now. Nobody cares. Now we got a brand new RV with a busted tail light. See if people heard about how bad this service department is, they would not purchase a vehicle from General RV. After an extensive internet search we found a motor home we like at General RV near Tampa. Calling the store took several tries since the phone system at General is managed at their main office and the receptionist didn't know how to transfer to the Tampa location. After several more attempts, we reached Tampa and asked for a sales person. The operator said she would " try to find one and put me on hold...which then disconnected. After a call-back I was finally connected with sales guy Chuck Dumas. He was helpful and we set up and appointment to see the coach. We visited General RV Center in February of 2021 on a beautiful day and were impressed with the sprawling campus of General RV located in the far-distant Tampa 'burbs. This is a newer location for General and, as another dude has noted, the huge Service Department is in a separate location from Sales, a golf cart ride away. We came to see a 2007 London Aire motor home to replace our aging 2001 Monaco Exec. After we met Chuck, we rode to the coach in a golf cart. As you can see in the picture, the London Aire looked pretty good. After spending a few minutes, Chuck decided he had other things to do and Jared showed up. Unfortunately, Jared was not able to answer some technical questions and he whistled up a tech who'd been doing work on the coach. The tech answered a few questions very well, but other stuff, such as "What does this disconnected wire do?" or "Can you fix this monitor?" resulted in vague responses. So, there were a number of things not working on this technically complicated coach. I stated to Jared that I was not going into a position of buying a coach for over $200k without everything working. I further stated that I was not prepared to see the coach disappear into his Service Department not to be seen for months. (The experience of many buyers is available on this web site). At that point, there was a chill in the air and we left to "...think it over." Several days later, despite repeated emails to both Jared and Chuck, nothing further was heard. We visited General Rv in Ocala today to look at two Class C motor homes. The salesman, Kevin, was very helpful and showed us the two coaches we wanted to see plus two others. We decided to see if the deal offered on one of the coaches would meet our needs and budget. The first offer valued our trade in at $20,000 less than we were offered elsewhere, plus they added $8,000 worth of charges (destination, prep, etc.) to the advertised price. When we said no, the salesman kept asking us to put more money down, what was the absolute max we would pay a month, etc. We had already told him our budget for this. He went back to his manager, and came back with another proposal that still did not meet our needs, although our trade in had increased in value almost to the amount we knew it should be. We had given him our driver's licenses and a credit card he said he needed to have when he talked to his manager. We asked for them back, he went back again to his manager but did not return with our documents. He and his manager finally came back to the cubicle, and they tried once more to get us to commit to more than we wanted to pay. The deal had gone from monthly payments of $1,200 to $780 from the first to last proposal. This smacks of dishonesty. I expect to be given the best deal the first time, not held hostage by my documents being kept until we had to request them back multiple times. I wonder what the deal would be if we had been willing to keep playing their game, $500? Our confidence in the General RV dealerships is non-existent, and we will not be purchasing our next RV from them. read more

This place has been a nightmare. We had a repair that took over two years to accomplish. And we are still waiting for the decals to come in so they can apply them. We have brought the RV up, and when we got there we would find out that the parts were either wrong or had been put back in stock. I purchased an IBEX 2022 and first time out it failed and took it back to General RV foe repairs. I was told that everything was fixed so I picked it up I look into it to see what they have done, belive me they left tools and garbage in it so I went to the salesperson that sold it to me. Tom the salesman went and got the service manager he looked into it and agreed that it was not completed. He told me that he would get to Michelle who was my service manager, I told him I wanted a different maintenance person because she never calls back for updates or to return my calls. Her answer is always I tried to email you but it don't go thru. I call that BS because everything I call she wants my email but never sends me a message. Now the Service Manager was to call me by January to let me know if the parts were in,again no call. It is now end of March and no call. Shopping for a Tiffin Allegro Bus in the tampa market, found one at General RV center in Dover Florida, it was on a Sunday and they had just taken it in on trade, Glen the sales person promised that for the $4995 additional fees they would recondition like new. Sales manager Justin Brown informs me the the Diesel emissions has been removed and that's a good thing? At that point I should have walked out, 2017 Bus without legal emissions. I get a call to inform me that the bus was emission compliant and only needed a sensor, ok great just need that in writing, So they get the mobile Southport Freightliner dealer to give me a inspection report stating all emission components present, I pick up the bus and the check engine light and DEF light and alarm is blazing. Take it and will call you when the part comes in, I dropped the bus off 4 months ago to find out the entire system had been removed, with no parts any time soon. I've requested a full refund that has fallen on deaf ears, apparently I've signed away my florida legal rights away to Michigan law where this family run business doesn't have to be held accountable to consumer protection laws, I've reached out to the owner no response, customer care says I'll need to hire an Michigan lawyer to represent, so filed a complaint to the DMV next Florida State Attorney, then I guess hire a Michigan attorney to best represent my interest with purchasing a 285K that doesn't run as designed and I can't sell because it's illegal in the state of florida. As a retired and a veteran I sure hope someone out there will read this and help me fight this. p.s. Nicole I am sure you would like to post please contact me we'd like to resolve this issue as a fake attempt to make me happy, your company is the perfect example of fraudulent business practices hopefully Florida will suspend your DMV license as you have committed a crime and should go to jail. read more

The short and sweet of it. STAY AWAY from this dealership. It would take a book to write everything bad that happened but here is the short of it. This company expounds on the ignorance of its customers that have no idea what is required to service and repair an RV. They are experts at taking advantage of that ignorance and they will do their best to try and convince a customer that what the customer knows to be right is wrong. But when they are faced with a customer with the same training and expertise. It becomes almost funny listening to them dig deep to pull out all the crazy **** they have learned to try and prove themselves right. WRONG!!!. I have 40+ years of training and experience as an automotive mechanic, auto body mechanic and diesel mechanic. with over 20 years of experience in quality control. The mechanics of a motor coach is no different than a vehicle. But they tried hard to convince me it was and that all my experience did not apply. It was laughable listening to them try to convince me that what I have been trained to observe was wrong and that I did not know what I was talking about. What follows is only one part of my story. I was charged $2800 for an ECP protection plan when I purchased the coach. I took the coach in to have the ECP protection applied which is basically just washing and hand waxing the vehicle with a special polymer coating to protect the paint. They stated that the work had been done but when I went to pick up the coach to my surprise the same love bugs that were on the upper section of the coach and on the mirrors when I delivered it to them were still there. I know this because I washed the windshield, hood and front grill of the truck before I dropped it off. I did not clean the upper section of the coach or the mirrors because of time restraints and I knew that they were going to wash it anyway. Additionally, I observed that there was a still a thick layer of dirt still remaining on the upper back section of the coach. I knew the dirt was the same dirt that was on the coach when I dropped it off because it still had the S shape swirl I had put in the dirt the week before when I showed them they had not sealed the roof. And that's another tail of work that was to be performed that wasn't. I immediately demanded to see a supervisor. Two supervisors from the service department tried extremely hard to convenience me that the coach had been completely washed and the ECP protection applied. They tried hard to explain that the love bugs that were currently on the coach were acquired during a test drive. They tried to convenience me that the dirt on the back was from the rain we had yesterday and that the handprints and S pattern in the dirt could have been put there by any of the workers when they were checking the coach. Funny they could not explain why the love bugs were only on the upper section of the coach and on the mirrors. No Love Bugs on the windshield and none on the grill or on the exposed side panels of the coach. I guess they were expecting me to believe that we have selective love bugs in Florida that only target certain areas of the coach when they want to die. I can only assume that they also wanted me to believe that rain only deposits dirt on specific sections of the coach as there was no dirt on the truck section or on the top of the window edges, bumpers etc. The rest of the vehicle was clean. The evidence was clear that the ECP coating had never been applied. But they did their best to test my ignorance and try to convenience me it has been applied. Being a mechanic for 40 + years and working at dealerships and body shops as a quality control technician. I know what a vehicle looks like and feels like after a polymer coating has been applied. The surface of the vehicle is as slick as glass and it has an electric feeling if you rub the back of your fingers lightly on the surface. On my coach, there was no evidence anywhere that the coating had been applied. The paint was clean but it was still ruff from having a good coat of road grime. There only comment. We're sorry you are not 100% satisfied. No, I'm not even 10% satisfied. Of all the work that was done. I only found one item that was done properly. That accounts for the 10% There are several more sides to this tale and all are bad. Good luck if you take your coach to the Tampa General RV dealership for work. I hope you get what you pay for. It's just sad when you can't trust the dealership to do what you pay them to do. At over $200 per hour for labor, you should be able to expect perfection. If you are looking for a service department to work on your coach. My, advise. Look elsewhere. There are several other RV dealerships in this same general area. read more

I totally agree with the negative feedback that is included in the negative reviews. It is very evident that they do not do any type of dealer preparation on the unit prior to the walk through. Numerous items were found to be inoperative and not fixed prior to the walk through. They really sell the idea that they go through a 160 point inspection. They just want to get the unit out the door. The Finance Department will add charges to the contract and lie about them later. When you attempt to contact them regarding the concerns, they will not return texts or phone calls. Notice that the responses to the negative reviews do not address how to fix the situation and just a weak apology with no remedy solutions. Perhaps they are not aware that people tend to inform 20 of their friends about a bad sales experience. All professional and welcoming when you walk in the door and then the service level drops from there. If buying a used RV, they are not reliable on speaking to the quality of the unit, repairing any existing damage or delivering the unit without damage caused by their crew. Plus when going through the walk through they freshen the odor to make you think it's clean but it's not. Why do I feel like my husband & I dodged a bullet? Went in during Tampa RV Show to play let's make a deal. A 2022 they had listed for $55,000 they wanted $70,000. Guy dealing with us says he has been selling RVs for 3 yrs. More like 3 min. Dude told us RVs are taxed at 7% in FL. (Tax is 6%) guy tried telling us FL makes a $499 fee. Looked all over the internet...there is no $499 fee collected by state of FL. They wanted $6,000 in fees for delivery & inspection. This same RV was sold in Alabama for $39,000 & $500 fees plus, TTL. Another lie? Sales guy tells us that all weather packages are only for 30 degrees. (What?) We just experienced 3 degree weather in TN last month. We were the only non 4 weather RV that had put up skirting out of 90 or so other RVs at our camp site that had all weather pkgs. Thankfully we have a functional RV & we have weatherized it. We are not in any hurry to throw away our money. The lies were just too much to swallow. Plus the fact we were paying cash & they wanted us to put thousands on our credit card. Guy told us cash is no longer king. Still, they kept their cool when we said no to their best offer which was still $52,000. Guys better learn...interst rates are hovering at 9% for avg credit....this isn't spring 2021 in the middle of Covid where interst rates were 5%. read more

Update: We NEVER received any type of resolution from General RV. despite calling General many times, they told me I had to use my own extended warranty to fix a problem that existed prior to purchase (despite their insistence that they checked it over thoroughly). Well finally we have had it checked and guess what... Our warranty as sold to us from General RV will NOT COVER anything related to the repairs needed. The tech that checked out the RV actually told us that we should seek legal representation because there is NO WAY that General RV checked this RV properly. Days later I even got a call from the repair techs manager to state that we were royalty screwed by General RV and that I should be sitting down when I open the repair order. So now we will have to start seeking legal representation. AVOID GENERAL RV AT ALL COSTS! They sold us an RV for 25000, convinced us to add on an extended warranty (that literally won't fix anything) and now I have repair costs for almost half what I paid originally. AND we bought a 2019 in 2019 that was "used and therefore doesn't come with a manufacturers warranty" read more

The quality of care and service was bad and indifferent. The Grand Design trailer has makeshift parts due, I believe, to COVID supply chain issues. The A/C sounds like a jet taking flight, the oven will not work though they have "repaired" it repeatedly, the TV mount is broken, 12 volt appliances were omitted and 120 volt appliances were substituted and the converter (from 120v to 12v is out. Those issues are more Grand Design construction, but the repair of those problems under warranty are on General RV. There were repairs that they said were done that were not, warranty issues kicked down the road until the warranty ran out and then actual repair was denied, politically oriented sales people that injected it into our transactions, etc., etc. I don't plan to go back. read more

Purchased a 2022 Keystone Avalanche 372MB fifth wheel in late August. During our initial walk through we noticed several pieces of trim that needed to be fixed. Understandable. The quality of the "fix" was an absolute joke! Like 20 nails in every small piece a trim. Many things discussed were not even addressed. However this pails in comparison to the major issues we've had. On our first camping trip, which was 8 days in owning the camper, we discovered severe water damage in the master bedroom. So bad they have to rebuild the entire slide out. Or so they say. I dropped it off on Sept 10th and here we are 3 months later, the repair hasn't even been started!!! We payed 6 figures for this camper and we can't even use it. It's IMPOSSIBLE to talk to someone besides a receptionist! No one calls you back, despite being told they will. These problems I've listed aren't even half of the overall issues we've had with this camper and this dealer. I wouldn't buy another rv from them if you paid me too!!! General RV Center Tampa, Fl STAY AWAY - FAR FAR FAR AWAY!!!! Where do I start? You've made sure to leave a Disable Combat Veteran and his family displaced due to YOUR technicians negligence. We purchased our 2021 Voltage 4225 10 days ago. I should have known when we arrived at 9am for our 9:30 walk through/inspection/training and we weren't seen until 11:30am that we should have left and not looked back. No one talks to anyone else in that building. We waited 2 hours for the walk through because your technicians damaged the dryer. We waited an hour for finance and another hour for insurance. Owned for 7 days before we moved in and began to use the RV. On day three - we noticed water leaking from the underbelly. It was bulging and busting (literally) with water. We called immediately and service said they were closed but our Service Advisor would call first thing in the morning (which ended up being 2:20pm). On our own we finally narrowed the leak down! Of course we talked to five different people who all had to talk to someone else and promised to call back (none did). What was the problem? The technicians drilled a hole into the grey tank pipe when installing the washer and dryer. General RV - doesn't give a crap! The Service Manager Drew - actually told me as the owners we needed to call the manufacturer directly and gave me the number. Said they would send out a repair person. Manufacturer explained that is NOT the process and that the Dealership has to call, they set up repair, pay for it and file for warranty. Especially with a rig that's 10 days!!! In the end they Refused to send a technician to repair. Tells us to bring it to them, they'll repair it. Or take it to another authorized dealer (who is presently months behind). So instead of living in our RV that we purchased we are currently staying in hotels. I will never recommend General RV! And will make sure every single Veteran in my circle knows our experience! Well now she won't return my call or e-mail me. the last thing she told me was it would be better if i find someone else to work on the RV. This is an update to a previous review I posted. The Coachman 31' travel travel trailer I paid $41K for was delivered with a piece of metal in one of the tires, and as perviously stated in my first review none of the agreed upon repairs and missing parts were replaced as agreed upon. I have had some time since my first review to use the trailer and get more familiar with it. The TV and all of the appliances do work well. Some things that I found wrong while using it for a trip to Texas about 2500 miles round trip. The AM radio does not work at all. The bedroom door hardware was mounted backwards so it wouldn't work. I had to take it apart and reverse it. the trim throughout the trailer is overlapped instead of being butted. The trim above the slide and in the pantry came loose and fell off. The screws holding the outside trim in place were backing out and one was lost. In general the quality of the materials used for trim and paneling I would rate as poor. On a 2nd trip of 300 miles round trip, one of the tires threw a tread. Less than 3000 miles on the tires and they are falling apart, and I was sure to maintain 65psi in each tire, I was stuck out on the road for 9 hours waiting for AAA to change the tire because the standard tire changing tool I had with me would not fit over the lug nuts. Finally a Good Samaritan with the proper tools stopped to help. AAA never showed. I was sold a piece of junk with no after sale service whatsoever. I do not recommend this place if you want a gaurentee and service after sale. read more

Absolutely horrendous customer service! We bought a brand new RV in February and we bought an extended warranty. We have been unable to get an appointment due to covid and staffing problems within their facility until today. They did not cover one thing under warranty or the extended warranty today! That's right not 1 thing! We drove to General in Florida because the Ashland location was so terrible when we visited there to purchase our rv. We bought a 2021 class a motorhome last April. It has been in for service most of the time since then. our first problem occurred when we drove it off the lot and the ac didn't work. Took many service visits to get that fixed while rear differential burned up on the way to one of those visits. They tried to say that was our fault and then found out there was a recall for that item. Sway bar bracket fell off on first trip and that was 5 months ago and it is still not fixed. Am sitting in a general Rv dealer right now (been here 4 1/2 hours) and they can't find the sway bar part that was sent them (we have tracking number and receivers signature). They are content to leave us sitting in the lounge. can't even express how disgusted we are with this whole company. read more

This was originally posted in 2015 but in June 2017 I received a notice from Yelp that General RV had the review removed. After discussing with Yelp they have given me permission to repost my review. What a very unfortunate experience that didn't have to be. I purchased a 2015 Fleetwood Excursion 35E on March 6, 2015 from the dealership in Tampa (Dover). We arrived at the dealership and were immediately taken out to do a Pre-Delivery Inspection. We found many issues some of which are major problems such as many paint chips on the nose, a cracked windshield, damage to the floor tiles caused by the forward slide, holes in the tile floor in the master bedroom, a broken pedestal base for the toilet, the electric visor hanging from the driver side, loose paneling, water leaking from the fresh water fill inlet and several more minor issues totaling 16 problems noted on the list. In addition to these problems we paid additionally to have a Splendide combo washer/dryer installed. We returned on March 23, 2015 to take delivery of the coach however upon arrival we found that only half the problems had been corrected. The paint chips were only filled in with touch up paint that didn't match so it look hideous and the coach was just dirty so it obviously did not get cleaned after being worked on inside or out. The windshield was supposedly fixed but the crack was still clearly visible. The floor tile was also supposedly replaced however it was damaged still or again when the slide was pushed out which shows that nobody checked to see if the slide was in need of attention or if it was causing a problem still. The electric visor has been re-secured on the driver side but was now hanging off on the passenger side. Additionally while repairing the electric visor someone obviously kneeled on a piece of molding on the dash and damaged it. The washer/dryer unit that was installed was not the Splendide that I paid for but instead a Pinnacle. I was given the chance to research the Pinnacle which returned not favorable reviews so I have asked for the correct unit to be installed. On our first trip for the Memorial Day weekend we had a miserable time driving because the front end alignment and tire balancing was horrendous. Then we broke down on the side of the road because an air line blew out for the brakes. Back at General RV I was given all kinds of apologies and promised by the service manager that they would get it aligned and balanced before our next trip on June 3rd. On June 2nd I was called and told the coach was ready only to find out nobody sent it out for the front end work or balancing. What blows my mind the most is a manufacturer of motorhomes and travel trailers of over 65 years and a dealership that prides itself on being family owned and operated for over 50 years clearly does not have a clue when it comes to customer service or pride in their operations. The motorhome is now set for repair at a competing dealership. The list of problems with the motorhome has now reached 76 documented issues since purchase. read more

We found the type of rig we wanted in a parking lot, wanted the new model, and went to the Tampa RV show to find one. One RV dealership was not on the up and up, so we found Jon Murphy at General RV. He was straight, honest and to the point. Big kudos for him making us feel comfortable buying our first RV, and for beating the number we gave him! The finance guy was great and gave us the best rate possible. Jon told us 6 weeks for shipment, it came in 3 weeks! Ashleigh at the Dover General RV store was energetic and pleasant. However, the different crews need to get their act together and communicate with each other. We were there for 8 hours waiting on our rig, and it had to be cleaned twice to meet our expectation. My word to the wise .. call ahead and triple-check that your rig will ready. The volume this place does is huge, so make sure they get their shtuff together before you head over there. We're pleased with the rig, with Chris (Mr. Cool) our final finance guy who even got us plates without having to go to the DMV (big win there!), so over all, I give them 3 1/2 stars to 4 ... now I'm off to go RV'ing!!!! read more

Purchased a new Nexus motorhome. Was told to take it and use it. Come back with a punch list for repair. Was told they would take care of any issues. Took three months to get an appointment. Left at the dealership with a list of repairs. We went over all the issues with our service rep. She assured us they would take care of everything. Got a call a week later saying it was ready. Took more time off work to pick it up. Got there to find out they fixed nothing. They tried to trick me to sign off of it stating I was happy with the repair. We waited two hours for the service techs to put in notes as to why the repairs were not complete. We finally took it home without the report This is the worst service I have ever experienced. 180 k motorhome. And they act like we are being unreasonable. BUYER BEWARE, don't trust this deceitful company, specifically the Clarkston location. Short Version: company uses bait and switch scam style sales practices to try get you to agree to HIDDEN UPCHARGES, in my case they were trying to treat my down payment of almost $4,000 as free money, good thing I caught them before agreeing to the purchase. So, I don't normally write reviews but occasionally I have an experience that I just have to share, in hopes that it might help someone else before they get scammed. My wife and I spent hours looking at trailers at the General RV Clarkston, MI location with Ken. We narrowed it down to a couple trailers and he was supposed to work up prices for my return in a couple hours. When I came back, apparently nothing had been done and I got to restart the pricing process with a new salesperson (I am omitting his name as he seemed to do a good job) who after taking information was eventually able to get pricing. Now this is where the scumminess (bordering on criminal deceit) comes in. After going rounds on pricing, the salesperson talks with the Sales manager and says "you better call your wife back cause my sales manager (Scott Robinson) just came in at $50,954 (with your trade-in) for that Grand Design 31MB". Now this sounded like a great price, so I talked with my wife, and we decided to buy the Grand Design. After running my credit card for $3,970 they gave me sales paperwork showing that the loan from my bank would be $50,954. Upon which time I said, WHAT THE HECK, this is 4k above what we agreed on, what is going on? (And to his credit the salesperson seemed surprised and confused as he had believed that the price was the $50,954 that he quoted me.) If you didn't catch that, they were treating my down payment as if it didn't count to the price; so they told me the 31MB was $50,954, but with my down payment in actuality the price was $54,924. In essence they were trying to treat my down payment as if it didn't exist or just trying to be deceitful about the price. This was a fact I could have easily overlooked in the paperwork as the bottom line appeared to be the one we discussed, but was in actuality four thousand dollars higher, folks that an almost 8% upcharge on the unit that they were hoping I would miss so they could say, too bad you signed the paperwork. So what was their excuse for this, well sorry sir it was a miscommunication between our sales manager (Scott Robinson) and the sales person. This after the salesperson and eventually the sales Manager (Scott Robinson) both told me (repeatedly) that the price out the door was $50,954. I guess they figured that after they had me there from 5pm-9:30pm I would be so tired I would go ahead and accept the upcharge. So naturally, I asked if they would honor the deal we made and after calling his boss, Scott Robinson told me they would not honor the agreement and "we could just part as friends." AFTER THIS EXPERIENCE I ENCOURAGE ANY OF YOU THINKING OF DOING BUSINESS WITH THIS DECEITFUL COMPANY TO TURN AROUND AND FIND SOMEONE ELSE, because if you do business with them you will likely end up with thousands of dollars in hidden fees that mysteriously appear in your paperwork that they are trying to slide past you, and if caught they will claim it is a mistake. Now I understand why they keep racking up lawsuits. I guess on the upside, I have a good story to tell my students about deceptive business practices; at least I got something out of it I suppose. read more

Don't purchase at General RV and if you do, I hope your RV doesn't need serving. Purchased a new RV on November 26th, took Delivery on December 29th. The RV we intended to purchase had a major issue so we refused delivery on it and another one was located for us, nearly a month later. We used the RV on January 7-9 and found multiple issues. We were unable to have it serviced until February 24 and were told the issues were now warranty issues. Currently, over a month later, they still have it, it's not fixed and we have had no communication initiated by them. We have, however, attempted many times and have only been given excuses. Kevin from general RV, a sales representative for 25 years, was absolutely rude. Me and my friend walked in there today and up front said "we are just here to look and get an idea of what suites us best". And after we sat for about 15 minutes figure out price range and jotting down what we would like to have, he asked us when we're we looking to buy, my friend said "well as I said before we're just looking to get an idea right now because we're not looking to buy till around December". And Kevin's response was "well why did you come in here today?" And my friend kindly responded again saying "we just wanted to get an idea of what we wanted". And Kevin's response was "that's what google is for". Do you buy all of your clothes online or do you like to try them on before buying??? Anyways, then Kevin took us out and had us look at only 2 fifth wheels, one of which had the floor caving in. And made it a point to show us that the floor was caving in and bashed the product of the fifth wheel and said all rvs are built cheap. The next fifth wheel he showed us was of course another used one that had furniture completely tore up and covered in dog fur so we couldn't even sit and get a feel of the furniture. Overall it was just the worse experience ever. Absolutely rude customer service and didn't want to help us at all. We came today just to look at what was in our price range. As most do when shopping around for something so expensive. The sales associate was very bland and acted as if he was being bothered to do his job. He showed us 3 options and gave us his card that's it... He asked if we want a different associate but honestly at this point I'd doubt it... I mean y'all know who works for you and how they treat the clients who come to your business... For him to ask us if we wanted another associate tells me this isn't the first time and sadly probably won't be the last as he still has a job here.. It's not worth the time. I bought a 2020 APEX Ultra Lite camper from General RV and I want to start out by saying the Sales team was great but I am having nothing but issues with the Service side. We have had a leaking awning as well as a DVD player that does not play sound. I brought my unit to General RV service to work on these issues over the past year. As someone who only camps 7 or 8 times a year I am unable to check for all the issues getting fixed when I bring it in each and every time. Maybe this is my fault for trusting General RV for telling me the issues were fixed when I picked up my unit and not double checking them myself, but it is also hard to check on items that you can not see that they clam they fixed. The only time I would know the DVD player does not work is when my kids are camping with me and it is raining outside so we try to entertain them with a movie. As for the leaking awning, if it does not rain the week we are camping there is no way for me to know that it wasn't fixed. Today was set to be the last appointment to fix all the issues I am having but it started off already on the wrong side. - I showed up ten minutes before 9 am to make sure that I could unhook and have everything ready for my 9 am appointment, only to be seen at 9:35 am. - I was than told that the DVD player and Leaking awning would not be cover this time because it was over the warranty time. (again this would have been addressed with over 6 weeks still in the warranty if COVID-19 wasn't going on which caused my part to be 5 months delayed. At this time, I would not recommend anyone to take their camper to General RV in Tampa for service and to find another dealer or service department. read more

I purchased a new 5th wheel in May 2019 - when it was delivered the recliner had a tear along the arm - i took pictures immediately and forwarded to the service adviser - was told it would be taken care of immediately. Here we are 8 months later and nothing has been done. I have sent more pictures as requested - turned the chair upside down to get part numbers and submitted that information - still nothing - no one calls you back - DO NOT BUY FROM THEM - THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS CRAPPY!!!!!!! I have never dealt with a company that treats their customers this way - they advertise as a family owned business but they sure don't treat customers like family. read more

The delivery process was a complete mess. Our liaison Ashleigh is close to the most insincere person I've ever met. It seems to be a reoccurring theme within the General RV Delivery Department in Dover. Everyone will listen, say whatever needs to be said and wants to move on. We were told to bring our truck in Wednesday, January 20th to have the Air Force 1 breaking system installed so that we were able to tow the truck. It was supposed to be completed by 4 or 5 the following day. We were okay with this because our delivery of our new unit was set for 11:30 am on the 21st and we thought that would be ample time to do the walk through and then the swap over from our old unit to our new unit. When we arrived at 11:30, Ashleigh advised us that the shop could not install the tow plate on the truck and reinstall the plow mount that was installed on the truck, and asked how we wanted to proceed. Naturally we wanted to tow plate installed so that we could bring our vehicle with us home. We were then advised there would be an hour delay in getting the truck due to this 'delay'. Still not the biggest of deals, but we were very confused as to why we didn't receive a phone call when they ran into this issue instead of waiting until we got to the shop halfway through the workday. We had mentioned a few issues with the coach at the super show the week prior to our salesmen Jared, and he had said that the coach would go through 150 point inspection prior to delivery so these items would be addressed during that process. We also purchased a sleep number at the Super show the previous week and were told we could expect that to be installed prior to delivery as well. Just to make sure those small issues we came across at the super show were addressed prior to taking delivery, I had mentioned to our delivery contact Ashleigh the 2 things we wanted to make sure were addressed and she advised she would put it in the system and try to get them completed prior to delivery the next day. I wasn't confident after my conversation with her on these issues being addressed, so on a walk (we were staying in our fifth wheel in the service lot for the day/night while the truck was having the Air Force One installed) we came across someone in service and I asked them if they could ensure that during the inspection these couple of issues were addressed. That gentlemen advised that that was a separate side of service and he didn't have any access to that. He then advised that there would be things that they don't catch in their inspection prior to delivery and they would be addressed once we pointed them out during delivery. This is our 4th time purchasing a travel trailer/RV and this is the first time that it was our responsibility to find the issues and make sure they are addressed, as opposed to the unit being inspected by the dealer. For us, it has always been anticipated by us, as well as the dealer that we would be leaving with the unit after delivery. We began our walk through at about noon with Kim. We were told at that time that the sleep number did not get installed because apparently no one had turned in the ticket from the super show to get the bed installed, so that still needed to be completed. On top of that, neither of the issues we brought to 3 different peoples attention within the organization has been addressed. There was also no GPS SD card installed, the paint on the exterior was bubbled, chipped and already had spots that had feeble attempts at repair. There were no batteries available for the remotes so we were unable to even get a demonstration on what worked what, and we couldn't see the awnings operate either. Kim did assure us she would meet up with us after the "punch list" was addressed and go over the remotes with us. To her credit she was the only person in delivery that followed through with everything she had said and offered throughout the day. Once we completed the walk through it was about 2:30 or 3 pm and Ashleigh said she would check in with us between 4 and 5 pm to give us an update on the new coach as well as the truck install. At 5:30 I called up and tried to get Ashleigh on the phone, after a hold they said she was with other customers and offered to put me through to her voicemail. I left a message requesting a call back, explaining that my 2 and 3 year old daughters would be ready for bed about 7:15 pm and with not still received either our unit or our truck, we were stuck in their parking lot treading water with no process being made. At 6:15, my husband called up to delivery again when we received no call. After once again not being able to reach Ashleigh, the secretary told him "they should be out there soon". We were left wondering who would be out? Did that mean the truck or the RV? Would they be moving us to the swap lot? After more run around, we got to swap and got out of Dover around 12:30 am. We purchased a rv 2 weeks ago, during the walkthrough everything appeared ok. Upon getting it home and opening it up we found a couple items busted. I sorta suspect it was covered up during walkthrough. I have emailed them twice and 2 weeks later not a response. My advise is if they treat disabled vets this way, imagine how you'll be treated. read more

We traded up to a 2018 Tiffin 36 ft. back on the 7th of March and when we agreed upon a price and the things that needed adjusted and cleaned up we were surprised when nothing was done when it was delivered. They had plenty of excuses but no solutions. They never changed the oil in the chassis or generator., battery terminals on the coach batteries still had corrosion around the slide out battery tray, USB ports that we pointed out were never fixed. When we agreed to purchase and put down money on it they told us they would do a walk thru and guaranteed everything would be working properly. And when we started looking we said no smoking or dogs and the lady said ok I'll only show you ones that hadn't been smoked in with no pets. When we picked it up I wished I would have looked a lot closer. I would have drove our 2015 back to the campground because they just plain lied to us. We did make an appointment to get the oil changed a week later because they were busy and that's a all day experience just to get the oil changed. When they seen we were getting anxious one of the service managers told one of the many people sitting around to change the oil in the generator. The entry door needed adjusted so bad that it came open on our way back up the forty miles to Dover for the oil change. So we told them about that so they wrote up a estimate to replace the door, really at $140,000 they expect us to pay for a door and have it painted. Remember now this was March 7 that we picked it up and as of today (May 26th) we still haven't recieved the registration and license plates because they filled out the papers wrong and put it in our name and General RVs name. We did stop by Red Bay Alabama and tell Bob Tiffin the owner what a poor job they did and told him not to give them anymore dealerships. Tiffin is a great brand and we were in Red Bay Service Center for a week and had everything fixed and adjusted. No thanks to General RV. I found out talking to other Tiffin owners we paid more then a new one cost and yours was out of warranty. STEER CLEAR OF THIS PLACE, THEY SUB OUT THE CLEANING OF THE UNITS SO THEY CAN BLAME SOMEONE ELSE FOR THE BAD JOB OF CLEANING! read more
