Always good service by honest Honda-specialist mechanics. You can count on them to fix what needs to be done. They will inform you of what to expect next in your autos service life but will not unnecessarily recommend a procedure just to earn a buck. When your service is done, you are free to check and inspect before you go. One time I was leaving and as I drove away, Norton was watching my tail lights. They motioned for me to stop and come back as one of my break lights was out. He changed it and sent me on my way at no extra cost. They are not just excellent mechanics. I finally found an honest, good Honda specialist who doesn't charge and arm and a leg for his work. My 1998 Honda Civic had a real problem where the engine would cut off. It happened at different times and places. My son almost had an accident because of the problem. The Honda dealer wanted a ton of money to just tell me what the problem was. I made an appointment and got to the dealer. Waited and waited in the driveway. I looked across the street and saw a Honda repair specialist, waited a total of 15 minutes and drove over to the Genesis. I told Norton what was happening. He asked for my key, started the engine, then made the problem occur. Norton said it was the ignition switch and fixed it for $150!!! I now take both Honda's to Norton and most important- I trust him. read more

Absolutely amazing service! I had an issue where because of a last minute work schedule I had to miss my appointment at the shop I typically go to. Since I knew how busy they were going to be I had to resort to somewhere else because I needed to get a motor mount repair done fast! Genesis was able to take care of me within my days off, they were busy when I came in but still managed to get me through in less time than they expected and my repair was even quicker than the wait time! Whenever I need quick easy repairs I'll definitely be going back to them. The staff is friendly and really knowledgeable and we had a great conversation with the owner about Honda products. For anyone wondering as well, I took our TL Type S that I've been dialing in for my father, everyone that knows me knows I'm a little picky with the parts that go on my cars and who touches them. If you want a great Honda specialist, go to Genesis!! I was very pleased with my car repair. I was searching online for a Honda mechanic, and based on Genesis's reviews, they seemed to be the ones to call. I called one morning and asked to bring my car in because there was a funny noise going on, which my current shop couldn't diagnose (just a regular tire and auto place). They said I could bring my car in the next morning and they'd call me with an update. When I first pulled into the lot, it was a little hard finding their entrance. After I dropped it off and filled out the paperwork, they called me within two hours and told me the problem, along with the price. Turns out I needed my brake pads and rooters (sp) replaced. I haven't had any troubles since. I was running late picking up my car ( I had to take the bus from Silverlake), so I called and they were courteous to stay after 5pm for me to come get it. Norton rang up the final payment, he was very nice and genuine. Another woman came in after me and called Norton by his first name. I think its a good sign when customers call their mechanics by their first names in a conversational tone. But who knows, it could've been just an old friend of his, anyways, I had a great feeling about this place and will definitely come here again. I didn't give it 5 stars yet, because I've only been there once so far. read more

I have been getting my 2004 Honda Accord serviced at Genesis for several years now. This review is long over due. The reasons why I would recommend Norton to my family and friends are because of his competence and reasonable pricing. Norton is very experienced with Hondas and knows exactly what he can fix and what he cannot (I had to get my AC compressor replaced, and he recommended another shop). Norton recently replaced my brake pads and smoothed my rotors. They work great now. I stopped going to Jiffy Lube for my oil changes because I like bringing Norton my business. He doesn't charge extra for the tire rotation either. I rest assured that he won't cut corners and will get the job done on time at a decent price. Genesis Auto is everything I need and look for in an auto mechanic. I have no reason to go elsewhere and even though I no longer live in Pasadena, Genesis is worth the trip. Had a nagging problem with my old CRV that was getting serious (died once while moving on the fwy, a few times on my wife at traffic lights) and none of the mechanics in town could diagnose it. After a referral from one with a bunch of positive yelp reviews who will remain unnamed, Norton was able to fix it and did it in no time at all. EXCEPTIONAL service and GREAT prices! Norton was very thorough and diagnosed several problems with my CRX. I had brought my car to him on a Friday and he stated that he was very busy but he could get to my car first thing on Monday morning. He did some temporary fixes to get me through the weekend-I was able to safely drive from Pasadena to Santa Monica and back :). I took my car in on Monday morning and shortly thereafter, Min from the shop called me with a detailed estimate. It was SO reasonable. He said my car would be ready between 2 PM- 3 PM but it was actually done by 1:30 PM-talk about great service!!! My previous mechanic would keep my car for days and charge astronomical rates. This place seems to have gotten a lot of great reviews. But my experience has been so frustrating and not very good with this mechanic. Norton seems to be knowledgable, but I'm not. As a customer with very little knowledge about my honda, I'm allowed to ask questions. Never have I been so rudely cut off by Norton. The first time I went, I was getting ready to go to NorCal so I needed him to do a full check on my car. He said he wouldn't check it fully, because he doesn't know whats wrong and doesn't have time. So I responded and let him know that I understood, so please check all the major areas that needed to be checked for a long road trip and also change the oil. The car sounded better when I left and he recommended that I do a full check before I went!! I had asked him to do JUST that before he said he wouldn't do it. On the way to NorCal, my AC stopped working in the middle of June in the 100 degree heat. It was miserable. I looked at my work record from him and he hadn't even looked into the freon levels in my AC. But I thought that this was the first time, so if I explain everything to him and have him look over the car again while I was away this past weekend, it might not be so bad. The attitude was the same, don't have time, what's wrong, and no room for my questions. I think I have a right as a customer to ask if he is able to check certain parts and areas of my AC since it's been acting up, but ALL he did was refill the freon and said that there's no way for him to check the other parts. I get that he's busy, but I also never put a time limit to him because I work from home and able to freely leave my car for some time, if needed. For small jobs like oil changes and filling up fluids in the car, I'll say that it's reasonable. But don't expect him to help you with your questions if he's busy and you better know what you want him to do otherwise a full check is apparently out of the question. read more
