Literally, there were mattresses lined up along the walls of the floor we were staying on. Had to change rooms because air conditioning didn't work. Owners were very nice, but place is definitely not nice. The trash cans were full, which means they hadn't been emptied cause there weren't that many people staying there. PLEASE DO NOT STAY HERE!!! If this hotel was free every night-it still wouldn't be worth staying at! This is honestly the first review that I have ever written in my 53 years...In the past, I have always turned a blind eye to a sub-par hotel stay. This was the WORST experience I have ever had: * the locks on the doors-broken. The awful smelling middle eastern gentleman, who I could barely understand, gave me 3 sets of keys as I had to walk up 3 flight with our baggage-did I mention all the elevators were broken? The 3rd set of keys still didn't work. Placed us on the top floor where you could literally see and smell the smoke throughout the entire floor-it's a NON-SMOKING hotel!!! Did I mention the mouse or rat droppings we saw near the ice machine? Got into the room and we immediately walked right out due to the smell and conditions of the bedding and shower (stains and mold all over). The pool looked very old and dirty-10x10-only 3.5 feet... Informed the man at the front desk that I also paid for an adjoining room-he said it was a mis-print on their website. Finally I asked him under the circumstances if he could issue a refund, thinking to myself-as there was no way on gods green earth we were staying there another 5 minutes longer in this hell-hole. He literally laughed in my face and said and I quote,"you're still not getting any money back!" I could care less about the money, but I could not fathom this man laughing about our horrible experience and we never even stayed 20 minutes there... dirty, people smoke cigs and weed, hookers go in and out all day, mattress are really dirty and cut up if you look under the sheets, there was a pair of pink women's underwear under the bed. Not worth the price I paid, wish i wasn't drunk and needed a place to sleep it off. The hotel is very outdated except for the TV. When you get into the room, you start seeing all the problems. Stayed in room 222, first off the door to the room did not have a chain for additional security. Had to literally put the iron board against the door for extra security just in case. Then the bottom of the door you literally can put your hand under it. Went to the front desk to change rooms he was about to give me another room then when we complained about the door he conveniently didn't have another day to switch to. He clearly lied to my face,  because he was giving me another room until I started complaining. He told me I couldn't speak to anybody above him when I requested so. The furniture was very outdated. The shampoo they gave was already opened and from the looks of it was used. The door didn't close automatically behind me when I left out. When I originally checked in the attendant was more concerned about if I had a pet with me. Bathroom sink clogged up after using it the first time. Parking lot has really huge speed bumps. Pool closed due to covid which has a sign on the door. If u are even 1 minute after your check out time they will continuously knock on ur room. They charge you $10 for every hotel you're late checking out, week at least the sign says. read more

Stayed 15 minutes then left Had to wake up the clerks to check in they were not pleased She argued about what room I suppose to have Ended up in a handicap room ! When I made the reservation I explained I had a dog apparently it was ok then but once I arrived it was an issue! The hallways were cluttered with all sorts of extras including hangers! The hallways smelled like a zoo ! Get to the room THE SMELL WAS TERRIBLE MOLD AND BODY ODOR. THE CARPET FELT WET AND THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS VERY LOUD. Lets see. What to say about this place. It's an old Days Inn. It has long term residents. The owner and his wife are on site all the time. Pros It's inexpensive Free breakfast Free wifi Free parking It was extremely close to work Cons The late night check in process (had to ring to get owners to come to front desk). The long term guests (makes a hotel a little less safe for a single woman traveler) The free breakfast is limited (coffee, OJ, breads, two cereals). They have more but wont offer it unless the long term guests are out of site. The rooms are dated. It was clean but old looking, dim lighting. So if you want a cheap place to stay without a whole lot of amenities, this is your place. Otherwise, there are several other hotels in the area. As for me? I probably would not stay here again but I will make do for this week! read more

We stayed here in October 2015 while we were in town for a wedding and very much enjoyed our experience. The gentleman who owns the hotel was very friendly and helped to accommodating with our request for a non-smoking room. The room itself was well put together and had a lot of space. We had a King room and were able to get ready for the wedding without being in each other's hair. The decorations were a bit dated but the bed was comfortable and the room was clean so what more do you need? We were not up early enough for the free breakfast but if you are worried about the quality of a free breakfast vs the value of the entire stay, maybe you should just buy breakfast at a place down the street. The Take away, we enjoyed our stay and the owners and would definitely book again! It was also rewarding to our budget when we heard other wedding guests who paid twice what we did and had the same experience a their hotel that we had here. read more

Here's the thing about reviews that few people seem to understand: what was the experience in exchange for the price? By that measure, this place was awesome! My friend and I stayed here with low expectations, for an last minute event in town with sold out hotels. The place was super clean, the on-site owners were friendly and interesting to talk to, I enjoyed a swim in the indoor pool, used the lobby computer, and loved having a room refrigerator. If I paid double, I would probably have higher expectations, and probably bigger disappointments. It's a budget place - if they served grand breakfasts, you would be paying a heck of a lot more. It was an unexpected fun place to stay in our St. Charles adventure, and I wish the lovely owner family well. They are really doing their best to be cheerful in the face of some rude guests that come there way expecting high end amenities. Thank you! read more

They get no stars from me the hallways smelled like dog shit, the staff were very rude to my children, and they said they were done giving guests what we needed at 930pm. The hotel is in operation 24 hours so anything your guests need we should be able to get 24 hours. You all don't stop charging for the night at 930pm. I WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE! read more

I had reserved 3 nights here, and when I checked into the room it was unbelievably filthy! I also pulled back the blankets on the bed and the sheets looked unwashed. holy messy. halls were full of tables and chairs, carts crowded the halls with linens on it. random vacuum's on the 3rd floor. the man who was working the front desk was SO RUDE. he was trying to charge me extra because i had a friend drive me to the hotel and bring my bags up. if best western across the street wasn't completely booked i'd be over there. the hallways smell like smoke even though it's a smoke free building. the walls and sheets are nicotine stained. linens and decor are very outdated. the couches are stained, heater didn't work. i would not recommend staying here at all. read more

I called & spoke to wife of owner (Mrs Pattell), she told me I would not get a refund prior to me even telling her date of stay. BED BUGS! That's right... my wife, my two teenage sons and myself all have bed bug bites from a near week long stay in this dump. My boys were in a separate room on a different floor as well, so that kind of tells you the whole place is infested. This alone will stop you from coming here, but let me add to the list: The Indian husband and wife that operate and own the hotel, apparently have their entire extended family living there that perform all of the housekeeping and will come into your room regardless of you showering, sleeping, standing around naked, do not disturb sign.... it doesn't matter. We were threatened no less than 3 times of being kicked out of the hotel on the spot for not letting them into the room to 'inspect'. My family and I needed a place to stay for a couple weeks while we waited on our house deal to close. We were quiet, kept the rooms immaculate, and respectful to the staff. The owner husband and wife are/were absolutely the most rude, disgusting human beings you can imagine, no wonder the place has bed bugs. Absolutely one of the worst experiences I've gone through in quite some time. Trust me on this one folks, you would be better off sleeping in your cars in a parking lot somewhere. read more

I booked a room with this motel when no other rooms in town were available. While booking I insisted on staying on the phone in order to get a room since I didn't trust getting a call back. It was only after booking that I looked and read all the bad reviews. We showed up expecting it to be a problem. When I told the desk man about my concerns, he sent us up to the room with someone to check it out. Everything looked good: the bathroom was very clean, as was the bedroom. The sheets and towels were clean and white, there were no bedbug stains on the sheets or mattress cover. For the inexpensive price, the room was perfectly fine. I Have no complaints about my stay at the Geneva Hotel, Is a very safe place in a great neighborhood, The hotel is owned and operated by a local family who as far as I could see, did their best to make me feel welcome. I found the Hotel including my room to be clean. My bed was comfortable,WIFI was fast,, breakfast was OK, pretty similar to other budget hotels .The exercise room and the pool were clean. I like the fact that it's very reasonable and close to restaurants and downtown St Charles night life. I will definitely stay here again. read more
