alright, genghis grill used to be an all-time favorite but through the years they've hiked their prices. i always go for the "build your own bowl" because i can pick what i want (obviously). what sucks is when you go a little cayenne pepper crazy and can't finish your bowl. and it's not like you can blame it on the cook... since you built your own bowl! the food is pretty good i just don't agree with how the keep changing prices. i mainly go for the atmosphere. it gets loud and crowded which makes it fun for friends to go to. the bar area is pretty small, but that makes it quaint i suppose. read more

You get to put the food you want to eat in your own personal bowl and have the Grill staff cook it up fresh for you, we go here 2 times a month with my work buddies. Genghis corporation recently went to a new rewards program where the server doesn't apply your purchase to your Rewards account. I tried to put in my rewards by scanning my receipt, but I get an error message saying the "Oops we are looking for your check, but it's taking longer than expected. Once we find it, we 'll let you know and add it to your account.". I have tried to update my rewards everyday for a week now both by scanning and entering the Bar Code with zero success. I also sent 3 separate e-mails to Genghis corporate with no response. I am hoping that by giving a 1 Star, that their Corporate people will take note and resolve the problem with their Phone App for the Rewards program. read more

Ate here last week for lunch and was really not that happy. It was before the noon rush so they were not too busy, but we still waited at the hostess station for at least 10-15 minutes while waiters politely smiled, but still ignored us. We were finally seated, cautiously, as the floor in the entire restaurant appeared to have been recently mopped; but whatever they used must have been a close relative to grease. How have I never reviewed Genghis? It's so veggie friendly! This is a chain and they really don't have any distinction. Aside from the fact that in Addison, you can smoke. The very first time I went in, they suckered me in to buying the BIG drink that comes in the take home glass that lets you have discounted drinks everytime you bring your glass in. I now have a bunch of glassware, thanks to Genghis Grill. You pay $10 for a bowl. Load it with veggies, protein, sauces (with sample cups for tasting), and spices. Hand it to the guys at the grill and they bring it out to your table. I love that they have lots of options for your bowl: rice, noodles, crunchies, tortillas(!). I think what gets me here is how you get to play chef. If you mess it up, it's your fault. They also have recipe cards for the less kitchen-savvy. Here's the kicker for a few bucks more: you get another bowl! But there is no to-go allowed. I'm a big fan of the very veggie friendly options. The only thing that bothers me is how messy the line can get. My tofu is touching scallops. Lame. Aside from that, you can't beat a good spicy Genghis bowl. read more

I normally have a pleasant experience but tonight was HORRIBLE! Drinks took forever. I ordered a margarita it never arrived. I asked for rice on the side to share with my daughter and when they brought my bowl the rice was inside. My boyfriend asked for noodles and got rice. But this particular occasion, our table was given away when we went to get our food and it took us at least ten minutes to get our WATER after having our food. The water was ordered when we initially were seated. Dark grungy feeling in this place not the typical up beat well lit place. Hostess is retarded and really needs assistance doing her job. Rather empty place and she seats me right next to a party of 4. I ask if I could move and she gave me a look I would love to slapped off her ass face. Needless to say I moved my self. This was my first Mongolian BBQ - and I liked it! I especially liked that I got to choose the ingredients and sauce, although some of my friends over did it with the hot pepper. I just followed the directions with some minor variations - it was easy. In general I thought it was a decent value and delicious. This Genghis Grill is the worst of them all. The meat looked sickly, my chicken wasn't cooked. The service was absolutely terrible. We drive into the parking lot and the first thing i noticed was that that building was next to "condom sense" which is already disgusting. We walked inside and the restaurant looked completely run down. There was trash everywhere. The food line up was messy and their was raw food everywhere. The meat looked like no one had changed or fixed it in hours. The manager told us he was AFRAID TO EAT THE FOOD. That he was worried he'd get sick too. DO NOT EAT AT THIS LOCATION. They have updated to tiny computerized menus at your seat. You can play games, order your appetizer and pay your bill at the table, no need to wait for your server. This is great! We went on a busy evening, so it was so simple to pay our bill there and then it emails the receipt! Awesome, and as usual, the food there is great. I went here a couple of weeks ago. I love the food here. It's fresh, tasty, and you can get just about as much as you want, anyway you want. The problem is I couldn't help but feel like I was in the way of the wait staff. Whenever I needed something, the staff seemed really irritated that I was talking to them. I've worked in the service industry for several years so I totally understand how brutal it can be. We asked for certain side items like egg in our bowls and did not receive, and over heard a guest saying the same thing. Our table wasn't wiped down, during our visit 5 other tables surrounding us were dirty from the time we arrived to the time we left. Had to ask for check, got no refills, and everyone looked lost. This is not only the worse GG in the DFW area, it is one of the worst restaurants in the DFW area. It is dirty. The waitstaff seemed confused and that caused every bit of the operation to slow down. The manager had no grasp of the employees. It took about 45 minutes to get our food. There were 3 in our party. First problem, sat for a little over 10 minutes before a waiter approached our table. Next drink order wrong, didn't write anything down and there were no complicated drinks, two teas and a coke. Then the cooks messed up all three of our orders mixing up rice for spiral pasta, udon for spiral pasta and no eggs or tortillas. We weren't the only people with issues. Other guests were walking out and others were complaining about messed up orders. There were 5 cooks so they were not short handed. When I spoke to the manager he eventuality got our orders right but it took so long. This place is horrible. Avoid it if you can. read more
