Amidst Covid-19, my family was craving sushi so we ordered takeout since it's nearby. I called in to order around 5:15pm and asked to pick up at 6pm and they were very accommodating. Upon arrival to pick up the food, there were 3 people in line ahead of me and it was about a 15 minute wait. This last two months we visited them twice already and I just love it. it's an Asian fusion and has a lot of varieties on their menu. I love the ambience and their decor one time when we went, it was still within happy hour so we ordered a little too much ha ha ha. There is also a private room if you want to hold a private event. The food was great and presented well. Some items for me are just a little bit too pricey for example is the bok choy with garlic. I love veggies so I ordered it and I was shocked that it was almost $20 per order! That is a little bit expensive compared to the other menu on their list, considering it only has one main ingredient and very fast and simple to cook. Reliable Asian fusion. I've been going to Genghix for a few years, and the service and food have always been good. Personally, I tend to believe that less is more when it comes to a restaurant menu. However, despite having many choices across variable cuisines, Genghix holds it together well. For our simple dinner, we ordered teriyaki chicken and sweet and sour tofu. The chicken was served with sauce drizzled over, along with vegetables and rice. Some of the pieces were a little big and required cutting, but otherwise, it was a fine, hearty dish. The sweet and sour tofu was an indulgence. I didn't catch much of the tofu from the bright, deep-fried crunch. I kept coming back for more despite hitting the wall rather quickly. This place has been around Castro Valley for about 10 years now. The type of food that they serve here are Japanese and Chinese with a few eclectic fusion dishes like lamb chop and seared ahi salad. Typically, when you think of Chinese and Japanese restaurant in one, the food would be bad, but it's far from the truth. The sashimi is always fresh and the Chinese dishes aren't bad either. You get both Q's, quantity and quality. The sushi are nicely presented m, and not sloppy put together. When I come here I always get The Lovers set ($60), 12 thick PCs of Sahimi (tuna, salmon, amberjack tuna, and sea bass or halibut), tekka roll, 10 PCs of nigiris, and a cucumber roll. Enough for two adults. The service tonight was impeccable. The younger female server was very attentive, especially to my elderly father. Who is hard of hearing, she was patient and made sure my father was comfortable all night. There's a reason why they've been around for 10 years. Service was quick and the servers were quite kind and attentive. We have 2 young kids so the speed with which the food came out was great for us. If we wanted a more relaxed meal I might ask them to pace it better. We got gyoza, salt and pepper tofu (a recommendation from our server Rachel) honey walnut prawns, pork chow mein, and lemon chicken which were all wonderful! We decided to try a sushi roll as well so we got the lion king, this was a bit of a let down as the salmon was a bit over cooked and the overall flavor was incredibly soy heavy. When I was younger I use to come here a lot, it's a few blocks away from my house and use to be a All you can eat sushi place, it was one of those restaurants my family would come to and celebrate birthdays or graduations, so this place has been around for years, although it's no longer all you can eat, they still have some amazing food. This little restaurant is located in the Luckys shopping center in Castro Valley, it's kind of a random location and unless you're driving on redwood road you might have a hard time finding it. The menu is extremely large, this is like the Chinese Cheesecake Factory menu. They have any and everything you can think of, from seafood dishes, any type of noodle dish, rice, vegetables, sushi, chickens, pork, beef, whatever you can think of I'm 100% you can find. I love the sushi here it's always fresh and they have a very wide variety of fish, I also love the hot & sour soup + war chicken. My boyfriend enjoys the chicken teriyaki plate. But in my opinion practically everything I try here is great. This place does serve there food family style, so if you order a meat fish it can def feed up to 4 people, I would recommend going here with a little group of people and everyone getting something their interested in and sharing. This is my go-to sushi in Castro Valley. We end up getting a take out here quite often. It's nice to have a delivery option that can show up at room temperature and still be good. We typically get a few orders of sashimi, some handrolls, and a few sushi orders. Everything is good, but we often end up with the silicon roll and aloha roll. Sashimi usually comes with fresh wasabi. If you've never had it fresh, that's a reason alone to come here. It's a totally different wasabi experience, and you may not ever go back to the green paste afterwards. We've brought larger parties here when family is in town. They take very good care of us. I like their sake selection. If you're local to Castro Valley, I highly recommend them as your go-to sushi. The booths are very uneven and if you tend to sink into them you become super uneven (small) in the booth. They seat you right away and replenish your glass rather quickly.
