Food at Genkis is always good if you prefer Japanese sushi items. I've never had bad food there or service until recently. When you have over 6 people on a table eating its really courtesy that the dishes should be removed to give space to continue eating. We were told by server they 'cant' do it until we were done. I seriously wanted to push the stacked dishes off the table to make room but thought otherwise. Im wondering if I should have given that server a reason to clean the floors.

Ordered take out from the Pearlridge Genki Sushi because the wait is always long so it was more convenient to just order and pick up. First off, I had the most difficult time online ordering. And when I was finally able to do so and I went to check out, it said that online ordering was closed. That wasted about 15 minutes of trying to order. So then I ended up calling the store to order and the guy who answered the phone was so nice! He was very nice and helpful and I was able to order at ease. Way better than online. When I got to the restaurant to pick up our order, it was perfect timing because they were packing up our order. I wanted to add onto my order and get the two different sea snail nigiri but they were out of both. I was so sad but that probably was a sign that I didn't need it. Lol the inside of the restaurant was really crowded and there were a lot of people waiting to be seated. So I'm glad we ordered over the phone so we didn't have to wait to dine in. I enjoy Genki Sushi but I have to be in the mood to wait or take out is the way to go so it's ready soon after you place your order.

Can't go wrong with fast and convenient sushi . Genki Sushi is the place located inside the Pearl ridge uptown right across from the food court downstairs. This particular location used to be upstairs now they moved downstairs. Service was ok this place you'll need to order through the QR code on your phone . Support local

    T/O Chicken Karaage Bento
    Lauren D.

I ordered takeout from Genki Sushi and got the chicken karaage bento. It came with rice, cucumber and takuan (yellow pickled radish) sushi, tofu, seaweed salad, and the chicken was served on a bed of iceberg lettuce. The portion was super generous -- definitely more than enough for one person! I did add a side of sushi, but honestly, I could've skipped it and still been full. The food was fresh, tasty, and nicely packed for takeout. The chicken karaage was crispy and flavorful, and I really appreciated the variety in the bento -- it felt like a well-balanced meal. The only downside was the wait time. It took about 15 to 20 minutes for my takeout order, which felt a bit long, especially for sushi and a bento box. So just a heads-up if you're trying to grab something quick. Overall, a solid takeout option with good food and great portions. I'll definitely be back -- just maybe not when I'm in a hurry. I give this place three stars because the quality is not the best sushi and they were slow.

It's been quite a while since the last time I ate here! My friend wanted to eat at Genki so we did take out during lunch time on a weekend. I was expecting a longer wait time, but it took about 10 mins ish which I think is pretty good! Of course, the portions got smaller and the prices are higher, BUT the food still tasted the same. I ordered pretty basic things this time - spicy cali roll, inari, tamago and my friend shared her kabocha tempura with me. Everything was so so GOOD. Not a lot of sushi places have good tamago where the egg is sweet, but Genki has the sweet tamago which makes me super happy! I'll definitely be coming back soon, hopefully eat in next time :)

Five stars. The food is always great. Had the ahi poke bowl and garlic chicken. Always a winner. The service is super efficient and great. Always attentive. The ambiance is cool. Again, efficient and clean. Always enjoy Genki.

We haven't eaten at Genki Sushi since 2016 when they had the outbreak of Hepatitis. We really loved it before but stayed away for 9 years. Well we decided to check out the Pearlridge location for lunch on a Tuesday. We ordered a variety of sushi such as a spicy tuna bowl, natto roll, ika with rayu, onion salmon, spicy tuna, and fried squid. Everything tasted good and it came out really quick. We had to ask for new cups of tea because the first cups were room temperature. We like our hot tea to be steaming hot. The workers were nice and came to refill tea and water often. There are a lot of workers there. The place is very popular and it filled up pretty quickly. So, everything tasted good but about 15 minutes after I ate, I had to use the restroom. Something must've been bad because I had to go 3 times after having lunch there. Dunno if I will go back because I definitely ate something that did not agree with me.

Son just came home from college and was jonzing for genki - what a disappointment. We went to Pearlridge and boy did they go downhill. Service is ok not good or bad just average. Ambiance nothing special. Food shameful. Presentation is not very appetizing. Every plate of sushi was falling apart. The prices went up so you would think it would be good but nope. I mean it tasted like genki but if I'm going to pay those prices then I would like appealing sushi that I can dip in my shoyu without falling apart. Spicy poke was all over the plate instead of being nicely on the sushi. Plating awful. It's like they don't care.

I had the tonkatsu curry, and as a big curry fan, it's good. Tonkatsu wasn't too oily, meat was juicy, and the curry taste was taste-in. I've also had the poke nachos, shrimp/vegetable tempura, and various bento dishes--always at least solid. Finally, appreciate the servers. Depending on when you go, it can get busy, but we've never had to wait too long for food and waters get refiled/plates get cleared. The underneath parking can get tight as well. Will continue to come here, it's a staple!

Will definitely be back because all other dishes we had were great and service was attentive and efficient! Original review: Service and staff were stellar. But the chicken katsu was one of the worst I've ever had on O'ahu. The chicken katsu was greasy and soaked in old oil that tasted rancid and oxidized, which made the panko a disappointingly saturated mess. The panko was way too browned, and neither flaky or freshly crunchy like katsu should truly be, and was a far cry from the photo in the menu. The poor, fatty chicken quality and the rubbery skin left on the chicken pieces just added to the gristly and chewy nature of the katsu. Charging customers these prices for this kind of subpar quality chicken is absolutely insulting, and we couldn't even finish the dish. It's such a disappointment to write this kind of review, but others need to know what they're getting when they order katsu at Gyotaku.

I did not realize until I got there, so I thought I would probably have to buy the whole meal again. Instead, they were immediately understanding and told me it was okay. They just remade my order at this location and did not charge me again, even though the mistake was completely mine. I don't know what happened to the order at the other location. Since it was a common order maybe they waited to see if someone else ordered that? That kind of service really stands out. They definitely did not need to do that, and it made a big difference, especially since I was trying to eat quickly before going into work. Since they were already helping me out, I added a fried fish side, and it was really good. It was very crispy and came with a sweet and sour sauce that worked well with it. We got smoked out and it got bad to the point where my eyes were getting watery. Not sure if this happens all the time at this spot- this was my first time. The service was okay. We waited over 10 minutes to get cups of water and to put in our order. I totally get that they were short handed which also explains why it took almost 40 minutes for us to be served. Ordered the Negi-Hamachi to try something different. Hamachi is my favorite fish served sashimi style so I decided to switch it up and order the Negi-Hamachi which is finely chopped, yellow-tail with green onion and wasabi over sushi rice served with tsukemono and miso soup. I was super happy with this because the Hamachi was delicious and surprisingly, I did not feel bloated or too full afterwards.

It's a suitable replacement for the time, for families to enjoy sushi or a Teppanyaki dinner "show". The layout has the Teppanyaki dining tables in the front as you enter, rather than at the back of on the side. I suppose it gives an air of excitement as you walk in and watch the chefs put on their show, but the level of "noise" it creates is a bit overwhelming if you're trying to enjoy a nice dinner with a date, or family and friends Our extended family (10 people) went there for an early (5:30pm) dinner on Saturday, before Father's Day, and were seated at the side room behind the glass partitions. From there, we could hear everything happening at the Teppanyaki tables, as though we were right there; especially when they sang "Happy birthday" about 4 different times for the parties enjoying their dinner. Just as a "heads up", I'm not against it, but it was really difficult for us in the other room to actually have a normal conversation across the table while ago that was happening. The food is pretty decent, with a wide selection of sushi rolls and other standard items. I'm not a big sushi roll eater, I prefer great sashimi and an occasional nigiri, but the rolls were pretty good, with several unique offerings. They have Oyster shooters and Uni shooters that come as 2 per order. There were 3 of us (me, my daughter and SIL), so we asked if we could just order 3, rather than 4, but sadly, no. It was fine, and someone in the group ate the other one, but I wished they would price it as each; as most other restaurants that have this item do. The sashimi was average, but it's more of a family dining spot, rather than a sushi bar. The service was good, and everyone enjoyed the food and fellowship. I may be tempted to come to try the Teppanyaki in the future, especially if I'm bringing my granddaughter for the show.
