This new Genki just opened recently, and my mom and I decided to stop by for lunch on a Saturday during a brief Pearlridge run. The wait wasn't too long--only 10-20 minutes for the two of us--but we only really had to wait for 10 minutes to be seated. This Genki is really clean, from the entrance to the menus and everything in between. The booths are all nice; we sat at one more on the outskirts of the restaurant. This eatery isn't super big on the inside, but the booths felt really spacious. I was also really impressed by the check-in system at the front of the store; it was much more efficient than just leaving your name. Instead, you get a ticket with a number on it, and they call your number when there's an open table. The booths in the center of the restaurant can enjoy the convenience of the conveyor belt that's characteristic of Genki, but if you're sitting on the outer tables, like we were, you have to be more intentional in ordering. My mom and I didn't mind, though, because we had an idea of what we wanted. I would definitely return to this Genki, as long as I go early because by the time we left around 12:30 p.m., the wait time had extended to 30 minutes. Here's what we got: "Salmon Karaage": The menu says this item is a limited-edition choice, so I wanted to get it before it wasn't available anymore. I really enjoyed it and wouldn't think twice before ordering it again. It's basically fried pieces of succulent salmon and it comes in a bowl (like the "Teriyaki Chicken Bowl"). It doesn't include rice, but it does include a slightly spicy sauce that's drizzled on top. I was pleased to see that they didn't skimp on the salmon pieces and there was plenty in the bowl to share with my mom. The salmon was lightly fried and the batter didn't feel heavy. Hope this stays on the menu for a while. "Teriyaki Chicken Bowl": This is one of my mom's favorites and she usually gets it during any Genki trip. It includes white rice, tender pieces of flavorful teriyaki chicken and that subtly sweet teri glaze. Though the bowl came with less chicken than I remembered it to, my mom said the taste was consistent with what she got at other Genkis and she enjoyed her dish. "Vegetable Croquette": This was the only other item my mom ordered, but we both like it because the croquette--which contains mostly soft potato--is lightly battered and fried. The exterior is always a nice, golden brown and sufficiently crispy. I just like this one because you taste the potato interior more than the chopped veggies. "Spam and Tamago Roll": I've tried the spam sushi and tamago, but never got this combination roll before. If spam musubi were chopped up and included an egg, this is what you would get. I really liked the convenient size of this roll--chopped in four petite pieces--and the sauce drizzled on top was savory and flavorful. Definitely one of my new favorites and I'm glad Genki is always adding new things to its menu. read more

Buuurrahhh. This place has gone to crap. The service is unbelievably horrible. Our server tonight sucked okole. You should see her SCOWL as I dare to ask her for an item that can't be bought on the website app. Then when I asked for water - holy crap, even more ANGER! Why so angry? If you hate your job that much then quit! Life is too short to be stuck in a job that you hate! Don't take it out on your paying customers. We are never rude or demanding. We ask for simple things. REFILL THE FRICKEN WATER. EVEN ASKING ANOTHER SERVER for water doesn't work. They never come back! Customer service has gone to shit here! I will try waikele next time. My go to place for sushi cravings. As to be expected conveyer belt sushi is never the best quality, but it is usually decent quality fish, or at least good enough to satisfy a sushi craving without breaking the bank. My favorite thing about conveyor belt sushi is that you can pick and choose a little bit of everything instead of committing to an expensive roll that you may not love. And now it's even more convenient with the ipad and Shinkansen deliveries right to your seat. Perfect to park at Ross, eat and then shop on your way out ;) read more

So we tried the new Genki in Pearlridge. The bullet train that brings the food is the best thing ever!! I didn't even care about the normal carousel!! I just wanted to play with the bullet train! The food here was of a better quality than some of the other Genki's that I've been too, then again it could just be the day and the type of fish that is given to them.. But everything did seem a lot fresher than at others, maybe because people were actually eating the sushi and not letting them sit. The servers were also more attentive, I can honestly say that my water glass never stayed empty. I was also able to order hot tea and the check from the ipads. The wait wasn't long at all, just a few minutes, which was lucky as my sister and I were really hungry! I will totally be going back to this location!! read more

Genki Sushi is a happy place to get this done. I trust this chain in Pearlridge than "others". Before covid, I had no issue with this place, we always drove up from Honolulu to Pearlridge to eat their sushi. We never had any issue or nagging at all. Now everything has changed after the covid, they moved downstairs and we're learning new ways how to order with your mobile. I kind of miss their tablet but bring your mobile phone to scan and it will automatically text you to check in on time and order anything as long as you want. Make sure you sanitize your mobile before you touch your food. If you don't have it with you, you can do an "old-fashioned way" with the waitress to make the order. Also, there's a menu in front of you so you can see everything. We went for my birthday, it was crowded, and clean, with great staff and a great space. We had no issue with our order, quick service, the sushi was simply delicious, and fresh and the menu specials never let us down. Definitely will return as always! read more

Conveniently located in Pearlridge Mall uptown on the Ross end of the mall. It's usually busy and waiting about 10-40 minuets is normal. The restaurant overall is small, the staff are usually friendly--there are some who clearly cannot handle the hustle and bustle of the busy clientele. The food is good, my kids enjoy it here. They prefer sushi over hamburger and pizza. :) But have to admit that they also order the french fries with their sushi! Water and hot is is provided almost immediately or you can always add it to your order, free of charge for the hot tea. There are three ways of obtaining your meal, either by old fashion ordering, using the iPad to order and food delivered by a cute toy Shinkansen:) or grab from the rotating belt. New Genki Sushi spot in Pearlridge uptown. Nice new restaurant, clean and bright. Food is typical of Genki, nothing too special or different. They have a new bullet ordering system that makes ordering easy and quick. Our server was nice, no complaints there... HOWEVER, upon entering I had my Starbucks Coffee in hand. The hostess lead us to the back of the restaurant to a booth. It was not until we sat down that I was informed no outside food is allowed... I can understand if it was FOOD or a beverage they serve, but coffee? Come on! She in strucked me I either need to finish it outside or throw it away. So I asked if she'd hold my drink at the front, since it was still full. I'm upset that the hostess who clearly saw my drink did not tell me first thing! It's Genki! I can never get enough of Genki sushi ordering from a touch screen menu and having it deliver out to me on a cute race car or space shuttle on the conveyer belt. I think I get excited as much as a little kid does! Anyway I don't have any complaints about this location. Food is always fresh when I order them. Staff is always friendly and they are there checking up on you making sure you got everything you need. My dad and I come every weekend(to the point where I think we're familiar looking to them lol) as part of our daddy and daughter quality time, other times my mom would come along too and my boyfriend when he isn't overseas working. read more

Genki Sushi is my family's go to place for sushi! This location can be really busy because its at the mall so plan accordingly. Everyone goes right about lunch time so the wait can be really long. We know because we've waited before. On this visit we wanted sushi for dinner. So we took the kids there around 4pm and roamed around for about 30m before the kids felt hungry. Perfect timing...since people were still getting off from work so the restaurant wasn't crowded and there was no wait time. Kaiten sushi place. The sushi is good and it's nice that they have the trains that come out and you can grab your order. But if I was to be honest, if you got the time, I would recommend to go to sushi bay in kapolei. They have better prices and the portions are much larger. I was a little disappointed and not satisfied that I order a sukiyaki and who poke bowl here for five dollars and it came in a side dish kind of size serving. read more

They ask for a contact number so they can contact you when your table is ready yet that wasn't done for me so I had to wait even longer than I was initially told. Dirty booth + terrible customer service + ridiculously rude chefs is a recipe for doom ladies and gentlemen! Decided on giving Uptown Pearlridge's Genki Sushi location a try today, and I couldn't believe how lackluster it had been in comparison to our favorite which is now closed down in Waiau. Being that this is pretty much the only go-to dinner place besides Goma Tei downstairs on the nearest entrance side of Uptown, Genki Sushi can get pretty busy on the weekends. My parents and I had waited an entire 35 minutes for our party to be called in, and mind you this is for anywhere in the restaurant. We didn't have a preference on where we were seated 'cause in all honesty, we were just trying to eat. Walking towards our table, I see a large stain on the cushioning on one of the booths. It would take a good 10 seconds for me to walk from where I was. I'm not sure if she saw that I noticed, but out server attempted to wipe it down with her hands like it was nothing. And now it was clear that I was standing right in front, waiting for her to move her hands so that I can scooch myself in. I mean, at least offer a new booth or clean it up before we sit down? Nope. Nothing. Nada. Didn't even acknowledge the fact that it was visibly there. It must've been an old soy sauce stain sitting there for a while or something. Yuck. And to think they'd go through all this rushing to get the next party seated, you'd think they'd spot check the entire booth. Anyways, we were seated closest to the kitchen. It was so close that my parents and I could overhear the sushi chefs in the back having conversations. And let me tell you, it wasn't the normal "Oh, how was your day?" kinda thing. It wasn't really pleasant to listen in on their conversations when one of them clearly said "f*cka!" as some sort of joke or something. Not really funny when you have kids around. We could not believe our ears. You're working directly behind a wall that customers can hear you, I mean think about if a family with little kids were sitting there. Unacceptable. Have some respect. And with all the profanity we could hear you're probably asking, "why didn't you change booths?" For me, it really was pointless. You can't really get a word in to anybody when all the servers care about are getting you seated, fed, out, and repeat. It's no wonder I've seen two parties today leave without tipping. And it shows in the whole dirty booth incident as mentioned above! Can't even clean it right, what a shame. Just goes to show the amount of rush they go through. Food wasn't close to saving this place, not with how far they sunk themselves early on. Everything is drenched in way too much sauce that it kinda overwhelms everything else and you might as well be paying for the sauce itself. Customer service just as you'd suspect was just as bad as the whole entirety of the whole trip here. Got seated and was only checked on once for drink refill. I got a side order of garlic mayo in a ridiculously small portion, so small that I had to order another. It wasn't until 10 minutes that someone had noticed something was off and got me another. Very non-observant I should say. Cashier who I payed our check to had a fake tone, acting like she'd cared in how our dinner was when she really wouldn't give a rat's behind what it was like, she was just trying to get us out. Just like everyone else. At this point, not really much of a surprise. Overall one of the worst Genki Sushi restaurants I've ever been to. 0 stars would be more deserving. Too bad Yelp doesn't have that option, because it's like Genki Sushi was begging for it. Lesson learned, won't be coming back. read more

I've been coming to this Genki Sushi for over three years, I believe it's time for an overdue, yet solid review. I think we can all agree Genki Sushi is the #1 spot to go for sushi. It's a perfect place to eat with your friends and family because of the easy conveyor belt system that allows you to put in your order with clear pictures and detailing. Seating is adequate with space and the atmosphere is exciting! If you prefer to dine-out, feel free to do a phone order! Of all the times I've done an order over the phone, no matter how busy it is, it's never taken more than 10 minutes regardless of how much I get. Among all the options of sushi's, sides and other fried foods: my favorite is the spicy tuna and California roll. The tuna is finely minced, but packs a punch of spicy flavors in your mouth, and the California roll has a nice crunch with the cucumber--perfect for a one-bite food. As an added tip: it can get busy during lunch, but there's ample seating and a waiting area outside. read more

This Genki Sushi location recently opened at Pearlridge Mall. It's on the second level of Pearlridge Mall's Uptown section, near Ross Dress For Less and one of the Satellite City Hall offices. During my first time dining here, I was greeted and seated immediately (granted it was not exactly during the peak dinner period), and even though this may be a smaller location, seems like there is quite a bit of seating. Almost all of their popular menu items were available on the conveyor belt and so I didn't really have to use the ordering tablet (well, actually I did for one item towards the end of my meal). The service was pretty good when going that time; it exceeded my expectations given what I've experienced at other locations in recent dining visits (Ala Moana and Kaneohe). read more

My family and I went to Genki Pearl Ridge for my birthday dinner a few days ago. Our waitress was very accommodating and the food was amazing, as usual. Everything was going smoothly and our waitress, AMY, even provided us with bowls and utensils for us to enjoy my birthday cake. However, the happy mood was ruined when one of the managers, ADRIAN, decided to come over immediately after Happy Birthday was sung and rudely told us, "We do not allow outside food or drinks!" I didn't feel like getting upset on my birthday, so I didn't cuss her out like I should've because of her tone. ADRIAN then proceeded to scold her whole staff in front of our party saying, "THERE'S NO OUTSIDE FOOD OR DRINKS! YOU SHOULD ALL KNOW BETTER!" Absolutely unprofessional! I really, really like this restaurant. Genki Sushi is a chain restaurant for sushi. This was my first time. It was Sunday afternoon and I was really craving sushi. I was going to lunch with a friend and I really wanted try a variety. We decided to go to this location which is located in Pearlridge mall on the same side as the ROSS. There was quite a few people waiting for a seat, about 20 people. I was a little hesitate to wait with so many others waiting but opt to stay. Numbers were called and before I knew it, we were seated. I would say I waited about 10 minutes. We sat at the open bar style seat in front of the conveyor belt that cycled the various food choices around. All you do is take the plates right off the conveyor belts. As many as you want. All the plates are color coded for pricing ranging from $1.90-4.35. It's a great way to try new foods and they don't just offer sushi. Anything not on the conveyor belt can be ordered off your touch screen menu and delivered to you on the bullet train above your seat. At the end of your meal, the waiter/waitress counts how many of each color plate you have and tallies up the total. I had 2 silver bowls, 2 green, one black and one red and it all came out to about $20. Not bad for the price and I left feeling stuffed! I highly recommend this place to eat. The conveyor belt is a neat concept for delivering food and helps to speed up the wait time for getting your food. It's affordable and you can try new foods. read more

Alright. I've managed a sushi restaurant and worked in restaurant for many many years. We go to genki pretty frequently since most of my family loves sushi; except my 8yr old. She's still in a spaghetti phase. We finally get seated and no one acknowledges the fact that we have no drinks or wasabi for at least 10 min. It's so surprising because they want you to eat quick and get out so they make money. The first think i order is two orders of spam nigiri no sauce for my spaghetti loving, anti-sushi 8 yr old. That's all she wanted. While we're waiting, my other daughter and i start ordering what we wanted to eat. As i realized we were going through plates, the spam still hadn't come out yet. I remind the original server, she claims to go follow up and nothing. Two orders of spam nigiri ended up taking 30 minutes?! My daughter was crying because she was so hungry at that point. Then the kitchen started sending out another two orders on the train. I sent them back, then the kitchen sends it back out to us. Not sure why this place really started getting so bad with customer service. Starting to wonder if they're judging me by my appearance. Although i have a very good job that pays well, it's rare that i dress like it. I don't wear lots of jewelry or rock a Louis Vuitton purse. No makeup, just shirt, shorts, slippers. I really like this location. Since it's new, it's not stupid crowded yet. The booths here are quite large and spacious, and could easily sit 6-8 adults with big appetites. The waitstaff are also very attentive and nice. When we came here just after the evening rush for dinner, there were plenty of seats and the food we ordered on the ipad came out quickly. My husband, who is picky about his sushi, was impressed by the "bullet train" delivery system and in particular the Pink Dragon Roll. He loved it so much he had 2 plates! (That's a big deal for a Mainland guy who is wary of "fast food"-style sushi). I came here for lunch and I was pretty impressed. The customer service is on point. I was greeted at the door and seated promptly. I was confused about ordering since it was my first time, but Someone came and helped me by explaining the ordering process. Super cool! You order right from an ipad in front of you. When it's ready it comes by a little train. How cool is that? My only complaint was the Hamachi. I get Hamachi EVERY time I eat sushi and this was not that good. The slices were SUPER thin and one piece looked like it was only half of a slice. Little disappointed there. But other than that everything else was Ono! This scares me especially after the Hep A epidemic they caused. My wife ate the Hamachi nigiri and I had to do a double take at it, as the color of the fish was awful! They've been good at every location I've been to. Is it the quality? YES! If you haven't noticed by now, each Genki makes the same items, but it's HOW they're made that makes all the difference. Some of our usual items include the spicy ahi tempura roll, seared spicy ahi, tamago udon, and the fried squid combo. The item that really makes this location my favorite is their spicy ahi. I was really disappointed with this location we have frequented many times in past. Went the other night - not super busy. Plates came on conveyor belt sushi so poorly wrapped it was falling apart before even removing from tray. Sushi not uniformly cut, large pieces of onion/fish, my small salad had the core from lettuce head in it, dressing was not the same and had less than half of the small cup provided.
