    Re-fried vegetable croquette..super greasy.
    Jasmin O.

Its been okay so far.. sushi taste mediocre okay except for my vegetable croquette was re-fried and not fresh it was oozing oil. The orders took awhile to come out today.. kind of slow for food service vs other genki sushi locations. It's Sunday not too busy 12-1pm. When we were seated..one of our cups of water had a piece of rice..or food on it. It was an instant turn off.

Recently went for lunch , about 40% menu items were unavailable. I was very disappointed on the availability of items. Think they will loose many customers because of this. Items ordered was OK.

    GARLIC CHICKEN KALBI BOWL

if i could i would give these cooks negative 5. i dont know who was back there today but they need to use better judgement when sending out half a** orders. my cali roll was alll rice with a hint of crab smfh. my deep fried squid was beyond deep fried like jerky. my assorted tempura veggies was soggy. my spider roll was soggy & had spicy mayo (wasnt specified) which was burning my whole mouth. my garlic ebi enari bombs was straight trash no flavor and barely any filling. but most of all what set me off was the teri chicken kalbi bowl dont worry i have a pic of that one enjoy. -5* never going back lost my appetite for genki and wasted my damn money.

I'm actually shocked on the overall rating for this location!? My other and I dined in on 4th of July, anticipating that it would be crowed, I called and there was no wait time for a party of 2, we dined in around 3pm and shortly after being seated the place got a bit more packed, but didn't affect our service. We usually don't come to genki but since kurukuru closed down this is our next option. I notice the prices have went up but I'd hope the quality would be better too, we typically order a spread of items off the menu and they have specials. I ordered the Uni hand roll and the Uni bites, i've had better quality of Uni at other restaurants and outside of Hawaii, You can tell it was not fresh may have been frozen, but was not terrible. The place was actually very big. I've only been to this location a handful of times. The tables are good for a family of four or five and they also do have single seating. It was air-conditioned and the food came quite quick from the kitchen. We probably spent about $200 for our whole dining experience. I would give it four stars, because the kitchen did miss a few of our items that I didn't get until the end of our dining experience but we had a really great server, I believe the person's name was skai, super respectful, very apologetic and helpful I mean overall I'm big on customer service and that person did outstanding, even on a holiday that most staff hope to have off still was nice. PLEASE GIVE THAT PERSON A RAISE! I would definitely come back in hopes that I would be served by the same person. Quality of food is not terrible very fulfilling and rich and whoever had the playlist on the 4th of July around 3-4pm played very good music too. If you've had bad things to say about this place that's totally fine, You just leave more table room for the ones who actually enjoyed it here!

I came in for lunch on a Wednesday and had no problems being seated right away at the counter. Everything is ordered thru your phone by scanning the QR code. The server did ask me for my drink order right after seating me and my soda was brought over promptly. It wasn't busy and noticed all other parties coming after me being seated right away also. It is a family friendly restaurant with families seated in booths since it is summer. All my food came out the right temp and quickly. The karaage and string bean tempura was a little darker than usual but I didn't mind as it didn't taste burnt. I tried the new yuzu aioli salmon and it was eh, not worth the $5.85 price tag. If you are looking for a fast food sushi place then this is it. You can order ahead for pickup on the app.

Its wrong!! I've never seen this happen before in ANY SUSHI RESTAURANT!

I've never been to a Genki that ran out of white rice. And then when asking a waiter--he could not explain it... Sorry I have a really hard time understanding how a sushi place can run out of white rice when 90% of their items have white rice in it.. Anyways, overall communicating anything to the waiter was very difficult. He couldn't understand us...and we definitely couldn't understand him. Also never ever, did I get 2 different nigiri's on one plate. They put seaweed salad and tomato on the same plate?!....Although they are not fish, how do they know if its for the same person because it WAS NOT! And you cannot expect 2 people to eat off the same plate?! Sorry but it was a junk experience really. To add to our, many other common items on the menu was "out of stock"...boo.

Good service. We came for dinner and had a slight wait to get in as it was a Friday. The food was good but not amazing. Slight delay on receiving the food but overall it was as you'd expect. Overall a good experience and will be back.

When anyone wants to save money on sushi, it's almost customary to go to Genki. We visited to check out their specials, but unfortunately half of the $80 worth of food we ordered here did not get to us, or was just straight up not what we ordered. Ever since the trains got installed, I swear the order accuracy just gets worse and worse. I wanted to post a picture of their seasonal karaage gunkan, but we never got it. We called the server 3 times for water refills, wrong orders, and to ask a question and we just didn't want to keep calling them over for things that just could've been prevented. I don't believe that we should need to keep calling that loud call button just to get our water refilled, but maybe that's just me. Also, a couple of our nigiri had half sized fish in comparison to others which felt like a ripoff. We don't expect much from Genki, but we definitely expect at least a decent experience.

This is our weekly go to place to get our sushi fix! Place is always clean and food is fresh. It can get a little busy at times and service will be a little slow but hard working young folks here with good vibes. If you plan to order a bento for take out while dining in do order well ahead of time before you leave.

    California Tempura Roll
    Izzie F.

My family has been coming here for about a year now and I just think that the meals are ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. I had 2 of the California Tempora Rolls and it absolutely filled me to the brim! There was one waiter that was so good at his job. Anytime he saw that we were low on water or tea he would come around and ask if we wanted more. And also came once in a while to see if we were content with our food and if it all came. A few times our food didn't come and he would write it down and then it would come almost instantly. Ambiance, the music was SO LOUD!!! I couldn't think about what anyone was saying because of the music, but other than that I thought the vibe was nice. If your in the mood for some fresh cooked, real sushi, than come on up to Genki Sushi I recommend the Tekka Maki, or California Tempora Roll with hot tea.

Now the only way to order is QRCode to a website and you can't order without giving personal data. Will never return again.

Mixture of three types of sushi
    Herbert L.

Don't forget to scan the QR code to place your reservations for your group of you'll be waiting for awhile. Once you're seated, there's another QR code to scan so you can order your food. Bottom line: no cell; no can order I'm sure the wait help can assist with a manual order. Wonderful choices of sushi and other dishes that are cooked. Some won't eat fresh raw stuff so we understand Enjoy

We love to eat here. One of our favorite Genki sushi place to eat.

We stopped by for an early dinner after grocery shopping at Seafood City. Since the weather looked a bit gray, we decided to drive over. It's been a while since I've been to this area--it has cleaned up nicely now that Highway Inn is gone. Inside, the restaurant is clean, well-lit, and the staff is very friendly. We ordered the Shrimp Tempura Udon and the California + Spicy Tuna + Crab Salad roll combo. No regrets! The miso-based broth in the udon was delicious, and I appreciated that the shrimp tempura came on the side to stay crispy. My personal favorite, however, was the spicy tuna on top of the cone sushi--it paired perfectly with the udon. The prices are great, and I was happy to learn they have a second location on Kapiolani. It's a great addition to the West Side and clearly popular with the local crowd. I'll definitely be back!

To put it into perspective, there was a flash flood warning during a storm this week and I still drove 40 minutes just to pick up takeout from them. That's how worth it this place is to me. The portions here are insanely generous, especially for the price point. You get so much food, and the quality never feels compromised. The fish is consistently fresh, flavorful, and well prepared, which is why I keep coming back year after year. Their service is also incredibly efficient. You can tell this team really knows how to run a tight operation. They stayed open and adapted throughout COVID, and that ability to pivot and keep things running smoothly still shows in how quickly and reliably they handle orders today. If you wanna sit inside, I urge you to come towards open or with the expectation to wait a bit. You sign up on the clipboard outside and wait patiently. After paying, I asked for a side of eel sauce and was informed there was a 50-cent charge. Had I known beforehand, I would have simply added it to my order. The issue wasn't the cost--it was how the situation was handled. I explained that I had already paid and didn't have any cash or change on me. I then spoke with two different employees, and both seemed unwilling to help over what amounted to a 50-cent sauce. Eventually, I spoke with the manager, who repeatedly told me, "Next time, next time, make sure," and implied I wouldn't get the sauce otherwise. What disappointed me was the lack of flexibility and customer service. After spending nearly $60 on takeout and leaving a tip, I felt that the staff and management were more focused on collecting 50 cents than taking care of a customer. As someone who has worked in the restaurant industry, I understand policies exist, but I also understand that sometimes good customer service means using common sense and showing a little goodwill. This wasn't about the money. It was about how a loyal customer was treated over something so minor. Unfortunately, the interaction left me feeling unappreciated, and it has made me reconsider returning.
