    Cheese pizza & ranch
    Laura W.

One of my favorite pizzas in the city! They have the BEST deals, great consistent quality, and fast, friendly service. I always pick up and the bar area is really cozy and clean. I always want to have a drink but I'm always running home with my pizza! I also love that they're open late! The ranch dressing is tops!!

    Five Cheese Calzone
    Ulyana K.

Fairly standard pizza shop. A bit mediocre, but it's not bad, and certainly a few highlights even. They are open very late and the location is interesting (Boulevard of the Allies). I tried the classic cheese calzone and their cannoli. Their calzone came in a solid size. It was a bit soggy, but not insanely so. Some of the cheese was also in clumps, which made for a bit of a strange texture. But overall, it wasn't a bad calzone. Not too bready, and not too oily. Good size. Price was fair enough too. I really quite liked the cannoli. I'm not sure if they are homemade (probably not), but the cannoli cream on the inside was very tasty. Although it was a tad stale, I still enjoyed the dessert. The chocolate felt a bit plasticy though. You get 2 per order. All in all, this is a pretty good spot for pizza and other such items. Prices are fine, portions are solid, and it's open very late. Nothing crazy, but solidly tasty.

    Garlic bread from Genoa
    Aruna K.

Got some garlic bread for the kid in the group who would not eat anything else. The bread was really soft and fresh with mild garlic flavor. It was served warm and was just perfect for the cold weather. Service was pretty fast if you ignore the line.

12" Gluten Free Create Your Own Pizza
    Larissa K.

I got the gluten free pizza and garlic sauces and it did not disappoint! The delivery was timely for a Friday evening and the pizza was made to perfection. The driver was kind and let me know he was almost here ahead of his arrival. I will order again!

    Pepperoni pizza
    Landon B.

Ordered on grubhub. Arrived cold. The pizza was decent even though it was cold. The pepperoni below the cheese was interesting but welcome to a degree. Ranch was included with the pizza and was very good. Would not order again frankly but definitely not the worst I have had.

Wow! What a great sandwich!…read more My wife and I visited Pittsburgh for the first time on July 30th, 2026. This is gonna sound crazy, but we stopped in for a sandwich at 9:00 a.m.!!! They've been around since 1933 and when you walk in you can feel the history. The walls are covered with painted caricatures of famous locals. This place is an institution. My wife and I sat at the counter and ordered a roast beef sandwich. All sandwiches come topped with tomatoes, coleslaw, and french fries. Yes, you read that correctly, they pile fresh cut fries onto all their sandwiches! The sandwich was massive and delicious! We are so happy we sought this place out and you will be too! Seek it out!

There was no line when we arrived, yet the wait for our food was surprisingly long, and service throughout the meal wasn't particularly attentive. I ordered the pastrami and cheese, and, the sandwich itself was excellent. The pastrami was moist and flavorful, and the coleslaw was easily another highlight--fresh, crisp, and really good. The fries, however, were a bit soggy and didn't do much for me. I was also surprised to find a piece of plastic wrap in my sandwich, which was definitely concerning. Also the sandwich is so loaded that it quickly soaks through the parchment paper. A tray or plate would make the experience much less messy. Glad I got to try such an iconic Pittsburgh spot, and the pastrami lived up to the hype, but the service and a few details kept it from being the experience I was hoping for.

For some reason, I had a feeling that something was amiss regarding this dining experience. I made…read morethe reservation on RESY and we were set. We got to the restaurant, approached the podium, I expressed the reservation and was told that they did not have one for me. We were asked to sit in the penalty box until they were able to find a table. We were fortunate and were seated. Our server was great. Very personable, helpful with the menu, made recommendations, etc. We ordered cocktails, which were very good. We then placed our order for dinner. My spouse had the beans and greens which were found to be quite good. I had the house salad which was also very good. For an entree, Bo ordered CACIO E PEPE and I ordered, BUCATINI all'AMATRICIANA. This is where we started to descend into food limbo. The cacio e pepe was flavorless with as little pepper as possible. So few, in fact that you could accurately count them. The pasta was overcooked and mushy. My entree was another disappointment. In the description, it states: "Bucatini Pasta, Guanciale, San Marzano Tomatoes, Pecorino Romano" Now, can any of you, off the top of your heads, tell me what Guanciale is? Guanciale just happens to be, an Italian cured meat made from pork jowl or cheek. Its name comes from guancia, the Italian word for cheek. It is rubbed with salt, black pepper, and spices, then aged for several weeks, creating a rich meat with a high fat content that is prized for flavoring classic pasta sauces. In my entree they were small cubes, meat-like, and one side of each cube was burnt to a crips, solid black and real crunchy. It gave the whole dish a burnt taste. Not the best. For dessert, Bo ordered the Banana Sundae Cheesecake. I bet you thought it tasted like bananas. Nope. It tasted like cheesecake. I passed on dessert. My choice was determined by the quality of my entry. Atmosphere. There are some restaurants, these days, where you have to raise your voice to talk to one another. Here we had to literally scream but still not be able to hear one another. It's all too common now to forego a suspended tile ceiling and carpet on the floor, which absorbs the sound. This was absolutely the loudest dining establishment I was ever in. Looking around, it seemed that most people have bought into the notion that this is as good as it gets when it comes to dining ambiance. Look, I'm old school and this just didn't cut it for us. There certainly are a lot who love the restaurant and grade it accordingly. I'm just not one of them. Bon appetit!

Do we walk around or do we get a table? Im confused and she is just as confused by my confusion. We walked from our hotel, so parking wasn't an issue for us, although I imagine parking could be a little challenging in the downtown area. The food was absolutely delicious! The restaurant has several floors and different atmospheres. There's a rooftop area, a bar area, a floor with music and a livelier atmosphere, and quieter areas if you prefer to relax and enjoy your meal. There are so many options depending on what kind of experience you're looking for. Our waiter Troy, was wonderful! He was extremely knowledgeable, attentive, and caring, and he helped make our experience even better. And the Food was SO good! Everything we tried had such interesting flavors, and I really enjoyed the variety and the whole experience. I highly recommend Gaucho Parrilla Grill especially if you meat lovers !
