Stepping into this cozy little store in the heart of Ridgewood, we were immersed in the wonderful,…read moresmoky scent of bacon! We were there for our traditional Christmas Eve German fare - bratwurst, weisswurst, peanut franks, sauerkraut and assorted cold cuts. Everything was perfect, freshly made and delicious! We were pleasantly surprised and appreciate the fine craft and effort that went into these meats. The service was also fast while we chatted with the owner as he served us. Excellent experience!

My friend Lewi introduced me the Ridgewood Pork Store. It was only the beginning of the apocalypse…read moreand I hadn't really left my house. He told me about the seafood pop up, Eric Schlesinger would do Friday and Saturday. This was one of the few times I would leave the house. During this time I made crab cakes, Crab Louie salad, crab Benedict for brunch, salmon and some super fancy scallops. Schlesinger said you would have to make sure to message him for the scallops. He had no idea how popular they were. During the holidays I treated my self to some salmon but also smoked trout dip. The dip was an absolute decadence on a Ritz cracker. Made that time extra special! I like cooking salmon simply, making a grilled veggie and mashed potatoes. Gives me the feels of a fancy restaurant but it's at home and it's so much cheaper. And this summer the left over salmon on a bed of spinach with peaches and avocados is a must! The shop is small. If you are a regular meat lover this is the place. It's local and fresh. Reminds me a lot of the butcher shops in Germany. Everyone is always super friendly and helpful! It's always super organized too. Everything has its place. The neighborhood loves the shop and you can see the support. Secretly we love living in one of the world's largest cities but getting those small town vibez.

I am in this area often and I pass this place every time, but I hadn't gone in until the other day…read more My Brooklyn personality instantly took over. It's FRIGGIN AWESUM OVAH HEER. I walked through this whole place with someone else, giggling with glee. I saw meat bread (lard bread), I saw a deli counter with delicious cold cuts & ham nobody pronounces right, and homemade salads, and smiling friendly folks behind the counter, and fresh SMOKED mozzarella (motz), which I've been missing ever since I moved to Jersey. There was fresh meats, pasta, fish, and ring sausage, cannoli, and homemade sauces, and pre-cooked Italian dishes for the folks who wanna try it all, but not make it themselves. Plus bottled and canned items I remembered as a kid, and most straight from Italy. The whole place smelled like parmesan cheese, and felt warm. All that was missing was the sawdust on the floors. lol (yeah I'm old). I bought pasta, their sauce, smoked motz, and parmesan parsley sausage links and made a nice dinner for my friend, enough to pig out and store for another day. The meat bread was heavenly, and if they don't have it every time I enter that place, I swear I'll cry. Their homemade sauce was perfection, and the sausage??? FUGGIT ABOWD IT! I bow to you Iavarone. Go git whatever they selling, like NOW.
