I understand that Sicilian crust is supposed to be thick and fluffy but without the main ingredient and the price you pay for it, is not worth spending money. We visited with another couple for a late lunch/early dinner. We were greeted as soon as we walked in by a friendly host and sat in a booth. Our server arrived quickly and took our drink orders. We ordered the pizza and side specials and were served piping hot fresh made pizza in 15 minutes. The dough was perfect with the sauce just slightly sweet and a nice blend of cheeses. All of us enjoyed our meals and felt the server was excellent. The value for your money is excellent. read more

Extremely disappointed. Unfortunately, I have a wheat allergy that doesn't allow me to have wheat products. When I looked up Genovese's restaurant on the web (by trip adviser) there was a statement saying that there were gluten free options, however when we looked at the menu the only thing available was a very small mediocre pizza. I was looking forward to having a dish of pasta but they didn't have gluten free pasta. I was recently in Italy where I had absolutely no problem getting gluten free pasta, bread or dinner rolls, no kidding, no problem in Italy but not available here. The only reason I gave the restaurant two stars is because the waitress was very nice and very apologetic. read more

I have loved everything I have tried here and the prices are very reasonable and the portions are huge. For 2 adults and a child, the adults each having a beer or a wine, our bill came to about $30.00 and I had enough food for several leftover meals. The sauce was great. I've been getting food here for years. Thier food has always been good. Real NY style pizza is good, stromboli good, feta salad really good, etc... It has a nice Italian setting inside. They don't open until 2 on a Sunday and you can't get a slice, you have to order a whole pie, so for inconvenience, it gets a low score. Plus, the ambiance is strange and when you walk in you feel like you're walking right into someone's dining room while they're having dinner. The counter is far away and sideways, and you feel like you're walking to the back looking for a bathroom trying to find it. Can't say how the food is though because unlike most pizza places, you can't get a slice unless it's a weekday during lunch hours (according to the staff). I guess I'm a NY pizza snob! read more

We went to Genevese's in Ormond after having tried Genevese's in Daytona Beach Shore multiple times. This eatery is located in a shopping strip mall. Upon entering, we got greeted by a friendly staff and told to sit anywhere we want. Afterward, we ordered a 1/2 clam and 1/2 cafe combo large pie. The pie came out great. The pizza was loaded with toppings. I am willing to give this pizza 1/2 star better than the same pie I got at the Daytona Beach Shore location because this pizza had the perfect amount of cheese. The crust on this pizza was good. However, I think I got slightly more clams at the Daytona Beach Shore location. The prices at both locations are very reasonable. There is one slight thing that bothered me however. There were a few used white dining paper napkins left under the dining tables. Customers probably dropped them while dining. Anyway, the napkins were noticeable for me while eating my pizza but none of the wait staff (4 of them) bothered to pick them up from the floor. Come on...more attention to details please. Let's keep the dining room tidy. I would still eat at this pizzeria and so should you. read more

Glad we stumbled upon this yummy carb factory! Despite it being in a strip mall (that may turn some off) once you are inside, you feel like you are in a cozy Italian restaurant....which you are. I was surprised they have been located there so long and we never knew it. Food was very tasty and the selection was pretty good. Great big portions, too. Even noticed other tables' portions were large. I'm sure they were proud I was looking ;) The service was friendly but not overly attentive. Bathroom was clean; a bonus! Would definitely recommend as I know we'll return, but expect to pay $10-22 per person, unless you go for lunch. read more

Serviceable Italian restaurant in a strip mall about a block from the Atlantic Ocean. Points for nice greens in the salad instead of the usual iceberg found in similar places. Vacationing from Ohio , but raised on the east coast, we really wanted pizza, but wanted east coast pizza. After reading the reviews we decided to give this place a try. Place was packed, but server was attentive and found us a spot in the back. Kat was our server and led us in the right direction around the menu. We had the deep dish pizza which honestly was one of the best pizzas we have ever had. The service was fantastic our glasses were never empty. Even though the place was packed Kat did an awesome job of keeping up with the tables needs. Other members of the party got pasta dishes and were equally satisfied with the meal. The salads on the next table looked awesome and wish we had ordered them too! Will definitely return when I come back down this way. read more

Very greedy owner. I have been coming here for years. I used to order a Sicilian pie but it always arrived overdone with burnt cheese. I spoke with the counter person who said I need to order it as a light bake. I tried that and then received uncooked pizza (raw dough) which I had to finish myself in the oven. I became tired of this so I switched my order to a large pie with breaded chicken aka chicken cutlet. When it came correct it was good. When it came with unbreaded baked chicken it was horrible. Many times I ate the cost of the pie. When I would order again I became more descriptive of what I expected. On my last order. I was descriptive to the point the receptionist felt I was being rude. Nonetheless my order arrived incorrect. I contacted the pizzeria right away and requested a new pie. I was told it was to late. They offered me credit that they would hold until my next order. Fast forward ..today I requested my pie and was immediately met by an unfriendly receptionist. He found my credit and then said didn't you use this already. Which I replied no I have not. It's only been a few days. Then I was told I had pay for the new pizza they were just providing the topping for free. Like wtf Iost it. The Manger was rude, unprofessional and condescending. Tried to have dinner there tonight with my husband. We sat down and ordered food. When the waitress brought our appetizer the plates were dirty. When we pointed this out to the waitress she seemed annoyed that we asked for new plates. Then she brought a new set and the new plates had sauce on them. When we showed the waitress that those were dirty too. She was not apologetic she just took them and then I saw her stand outside the kitchen her wiping the plates off and bringing the same plates back. At this point I asked to speak to a manager who must have been cooking too. He came out with a filthy apron and said to me when I said that two sets of dishes were brought to the table dirty. He said, it happens. Don't take it personal. I said i was not taking it personal. I said I know it's not personal but it is really gross. How can your waitress be bringing dirty plates for customers to eat on? At this point the manager said to me. Well I can't control that things get mixed up. I can't believe he said that. He also said he didn't know how dirty the plates were so is he saying that a little dirt is ok? I said what does it matter how dirty???? it Is disgusting. I wouldn't go there ever again!!! This Italian restaurant was suggested by my brother-in-law and I figured maybe they aren't as picky. Then one day we were in the elevator and ran into a delivery boy from Genovise and it was now on my radar. Then our last day we were in Daytona we decided to go ahead and try it. I really liked it! It was very mom and pop, but the food was actually really good. The salad was nice. The spaghetti was wonderful, loved the flavors! I also ordered a pizza with pepperoni, jalapeño and mushrooms. My husband thought I was over ordering and I did but I'm so glad we did because we got to take it all home as leftovers and ate it again the day we left! It was even better the next day! read more
