Total scam. Called for a cleaning appointment. They said I had to get the X-rays done first. Fine. I got them done. Then after waiting a long time for a hygienist to come do the cleaning, they basically told me I wasn't booked for a cleaning and i had to wait until the hygienist had time between patients to see me or book another appointment. I had been going to Gentle Dental for a couple of years and after every routine cleaning I was instructed that I had 2-3 crowns that needed to be replaced. I was also told that I had old fillings that needed to be removed and refilled. I chose not to do the recommended treatment since I had no discomfort whatsoever. I switched to Cactus Point Dental 2 years ago. After 3 sets of routine x-rays and 4 cleanings, not once were any of the concerns from Gentle Dental brought up. Billing out of insurance when they claim they accept my insurance. On their website, they accept MetLife, when I went through the appointment, no one explained that I was going to be billed out of network. I called and they said that their dentist aren't "credited" yet. It is very misleading. Change your info on the website and have someone explain the billing before service. read more

This place is very clearly a for profit scam. Both myself and my wife just moved to AZ from IL. We routinely have our teeth cleaned every six months and have seen several different dentists throughout our life with no issues, just regular cleaning needed. We booked an evaluation/cleaning appointment at Gentle Dental to have our next routine cleaning completed. It's obvious at the first appointment, they have no intention of cleaning your teeth and it's just to get you in the door. They use the evaluation as an opportunity to over diagnose based on minimal gum swelling. As they walk you out the door they show you what the cost of your next visit for cleaning would be and surprise everything is out of pocket including specialized cleaning techniques that are typically reserved for severe cases. I have just about had it with Gentle Dental Ahwatukee. For my past 2 appts. they have screwed up my appt day and time. I receive texts and emails confirming my appointments, and when I get to the office, they tell me I am not on the schedule. I asked today what the problem was and I was told their "scheduling program has problems". No kidding. And you know what? That is NOT MY PROBLEM. I brought my daughter in to have some teeth removed prior to getting braces and I asked at the front desk to make an appointment to remove a broken permanent retainer removed that I had installed as a kid. They said they had availability and removed it and scanned me for a removable retainer before my daughter was done with her appointment. It all went great and I highly recommend! read more

I wish I could do 0 stars. They try to upsell you too much, too constantly even if you ask them to stop. Also they charged my wife $79 dollars for an Xray when we clearly stated we didn't approve ANY service our insurance didn't cover. they REASSURED everything would be covered, otherwise they won't do the procedure and now we just received this statement in the mail. I should've seen the reviews before vising this place. I simply can't believe this place is still in business. EDIT: I spoke with Will, the practice manager and he said they will speak with the employee but won't write off the charge. Long story not so long, i switched due to insurance changes so only had 6 months since my last cleaning and was told on my initial visit i needed 5 Crowns due to cavities that can't be seen in X-rays (go figure that one), Braces (I have straight teeth), Trays for nighttime to prevent grinding (I don't grind my teeth), medicated mouthwash, water pick for flossing (already have one), electric toothbrush (already have one) and needed a Deep cleaning. My sister works in a dentist office out of state so I sent her my X-rays for a second opinion and she said I should sue this place and report them to the Better Business Bureau. I also made an appointment with another dentist office here in town and did not tel them anything to see what they would tell me of my teeth. Amazingly I don't even have a single cavity, don't need any of the items I was told were of utmost importance, oh and even when I requested a simple cleaning this office refused to do a cleaning saying they would only do a Deep Clean which I refused. Do not go here! I booked a cleaning over the phone and was never once told that I needed to have x-rays and an exam done before I even got to schedule a cleaning. I understand that makes no sense. Trust me I thought the same . Went in for my appointment in the morning was told that I wasn't guaranteed a cleaning because they needed to see my bone structure through X-rays in order to clean my teeth. Stay away from this office. They are looking to charge your insurance and you for whatever unnecessary treatments they can get away with. First off, initial x-rays go straight to the dentist so they can develop a 'treatment' plan and come up with ways to recommend things you don't need. Scheduled a first time appointment for a cleaning and Dr Cho tried to sell me on orthdontia with their in-house provider. I have had braces twice and do not need them. He also told me I grind my teeth (I don't) and that I need a mouth guard. Dental hygenist 'measured' me (whatever that means) for my cleaning and claimed she needed to call my insurance to see what they covered and that I would need to reschedule my appointment. My wife had as very similar experience but she is a lot nice and more trusting then I am. I have family in the dental industry and it is extremely clear to see what is going on here. Places like this deserve to go out of business to leave room for dental professions that actually care for their patients and don't try to nickel and dime them. read more

This place is amazing. I'm petrified when it comes to dental work. I usually panic and it's a whole ordeal. I warned Dr. Chow and he did everything to make my visit less traumatic. He worked with me through the procedure step by step and before I knew it everything was over without all the scary stuff I anticipated happening lol. Mindy the assistant really comforted me & was quick to always be talking about something to distract and get my mind off of panicking. I would highly recommend everyone stay away from this practice!!! My partners crown came off this weekend, she was able to see this lady that was filling in for her doctor to put it back on. But woke up on Wednesday with an infection. Went back and of course her doctor wasn't there so she had to see the lady again which didn't even look in her mouth and only went off of X-rays. Saying sorry there is nothing we can do, you have to go to a specialist. Said she was going to call in antibiotics and ibuprofen which she didn't!!!! Now my partner is in horrible pain and the soonest she can see the specialist is in TWO WEEKS!!!! Do not take any of your loved ones to this horrible practice or yourself in that matter!!! read more
