About a month ago, I had a tooth problem. Would you believe that some people put purplish seeded olives in salads? Aren't some people aware that purplish olives resemble grapes in dim light? Believe me, chipping a tooth while crunching down on an olive seed at an Armenian Church open to the public for a Greek foodfest is not a great way to begin a vacation. Resolving the problem with my dentist on the west coast obviously was not feasible. Wife began calling around for a dentist the next day because the pain from my tongue scraping the razor-sharp edge of a filling left open from the chip hurt like hell when I spoke. Finally found Gentle Dental, who agreed to accept me on a Saturday. What a relief, double entendre-wise. Amit Sharma, looks as if he should be in the movies while exuding intelligence and amiable charm. His female secretary, likewise, so I had to try hard to maintain our professional relationship. The office is bright, shiny, and squeaky clean, inasmuch as is appears to be newish, agewise.. The only slight negative, hardly worth mentioning, really, is it's location in a shopping mall anchored by a supermarket, but never mind about that. Mr. Sharma ground down the filling in my tooth which effectively prevented me from either sawing my tongue in half or remaining mute for the rest of our vacation. For that feat, I am as eternally grateful, not even considering the fact that Mr. Sharma refused to charge me anything. Ok, that could have been a marketing gimmick, but they didn't ask for any favors, and I don't think any other dentist in the country would have done that. Except for the long commute, I would seriously consider changing dentists. Hmmm, Boston IS one of the really great cities, I wonder what the job market is like? read more

I am super grateful for the care we received from Dr. Raymond He at this site. My 88 year old mom lives with me this year. Had a dental accident more than a month ago, she had some trouble with solid food. I contacted Dr. He and he scheduled an emergency appointment for my mom ASAP. After consulting with me and mom, we all agreed that extracting the teeth with cavity is the MUST. However, extracting broken teeth for an elderly is nerve wracking. Dr. He was extreme thoughtful before the procedure. He was super professional and extremely patient during the procedure. He monitored mom's blood pressure constantly and checked with mom regularly through the whole process. At the end, the procedure was super successful and mom said she didn't feel the pain at all. After taking care the bad teeth, Dr. He ordered a partial denture for mom. Finally the partial denture arrived and Dr. He fitted it very patiently with mom today. After several rounds of adjustments, mom feels comfortable with her newly "gained" teeth. Tonight, mom cried out at the dinner table "finally I can taste the food!" It was quite a touching view to witness. Thank you very much Dr. He! Helping my mom to increase quality of her life at this stage of her life means the whole world for me. read more

As soon as you walk in to Gentle Dental you are greeted by friendly smiles from the receptionists. The accompanying experience is good and pleasant. I've been to lots of dentists in different states, and the first thing I see when I go to a dentist (because I have lots of dental issues) are dollar signs in the dentist's eyes. Most dentists I have come across do not care about the patient--they care about how much money they can squeeze out of the patient's problems. But Dr. Sharma is different--his priority is the patient's comfort and health. Not only did Dr. Sharma give me a discount on my dental procedures, but he was extremely patient and did not do anything that I said I was uncomfortable with. He took lots of time to make sure the operations were as comfortable and painless as possible. His assistant Rose is also really supportive and adds to the sense of comfort during a procedure. I have not finished the necessary dental procedures yet, and I will add additional comments if I feel that they are necessary after my dental work has been completed, but up to this point the experience has been excellent. I had an absolutely amazing experience at Gentle Dentle! I went in for a tooth extraction and was taken care of by Dr. He and his assistant Nancy. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed and at ease. The office is clean, calming, and has a very friendly atmosphere. Dr. He is not only highly skilled, but also incredibly gentle, patient, and thorough. He took the time to explain everything to me, answered all my questions, and made sure I felt comfortable throughout the entire procedure. His calm and confident demeanor really helped ease any anxiety I had. The extraction itself was so quick and painless -- I couldn't believe how easy it was! Nancy was also amazing -- warm, professional, and attentive. She made me feel cared for from start to finish and worked seamlessly alongside Dr. He. You can really tell they make a great team and genuinely care about their patients. I left the clinic feeling relieved, happy, and so impressed by the entire experience. If you're having a dental emergency or a tooth ache and you don't have insurance, these guys are your best bet. I'm from out of state and my wisdom teeth started causing problems so I went here. The new patient offer is pretty good: x-rays, cleaning, and a consultation with an oral surgeon for $60. The only thing is, well a lot of them are new to dentistry (from what I inferred). For example, none of the hygienists or the dentist didn't know why I had extreme pain in my jaw and kept telling me it was TMJ. I had to tell them that I had wisdom teeth and that might be the problem. The dentist said he didn't know and he would schedule a consult with the oral surgeon. The oral surgeon listened to me for about 5 seconds and said "you have an infection. that's why you can't open your mouth." Simple as that. That's why I'm assuming the dentist didn't have a lot of experience.. Overall, go here if you're desperate and don't have insurance. They're open late, which was good. But if you want a long-term dentist, or someone with a lot of experience, I would suggest another dental place. read more

I'm extremely afraid of dentists, & have been avoiding them for awhile. I recently started going back to the dentist after maybe 5 years.. and tried a few, wasn't happy. I went to Gentle Dental in Somerville and was very happy !!! As soon as you walk in the receptionist as well as the dental assistants are very friendly and down to earth ! When I was put into the little room I almost felt at home ! My dental assistant ( or the one I get every time) named ROSE is fabulous ! Shes very experianced and knows exactly what shes doing. Also very friendly, started talking to me like I was a friend of hers for years. Made me feel welcome. As for the dentist, Dr. AMIT SHARMA, he is just great. Explains everything to you during the process, makes sure your comfertable and does his job better than any dentist I've encountered. I will definetly keep coming to this dentist office for the rest of my life. Hopefully these people don't retire on me !!!! I recommend this office to anyone and everyone !! Misleading Promotions I recently visited Gentle Dental after seeing a promotion for a $57 cleaning and X-rays, which seemed like a great deal. However, my experience was far from what I expected. After completing the X-rays, the staff informed me that I needed a deep cleaning for two of my teeth. They refused to do the regular cleaning that was included in the $57 promotion, claiming they couldn't perform it because of my "need" for a deep cleaning. This was shocking because I had to pay for the regular cleaning 57$ but they insisted I have to pay an additional $600 for the deep cleaning but refused to give me the regular cleaning that I payed for. I felt completely misled and scammed by the way they handled the situation. It's unfair to promote one price, only to upsell services that were not initially discussed, all while denying the service I had already paid for. Their business practices come off as deceptive. I would not recommend Gentle Dental based on the way they treated me, and the disrespectful manner in which they conduct their business. read more

I had an awesome experience at this Gentle Dental location. I hadn't been before but it was right next to my gym so very convenient for me. The receptionist, the hygienist, and the dentist were all extremely friendly and gentle with me. Truly painless, very clean, and a relaxed atmosphere for a dentist's office. Also, they were able to see me three days after I called for an appointment on a Saturday morning - everywhere else I had called had a 2-3 month waiting list! Everyone was extremely competent and you can't beat them for value - I'll be getting all four wisdom teeth extracted there in 3-4 weeks for less than $200 - other dentists' estimates were closer to $1000. I'm really glad I found a convenient place with tons of parking to take care of my teeth. read more

Gental Dental in Somerville provides great dental care. Their prices are reasonable - I do not have dental insurance. The office staff is professional and pleasant. Dr. Fessler gave me back my smile that I hadn't seen in 40 years. Had tetracycline stains on front teeth. Our solution was to crown my front eight teeth. The procedure took about a month to complete-he was with me every step of the way. If a temporary crown came out, the office took care of me. The last two of the new crowns were problemmatic, he replaced them. He guaranteed me that if I wasn't 100% satisfied with results, he would do whatever he could to make it right! And he did! Dr. Fessler is a very good dentist, his demeanor is fantistic, I would recommend him to everone. read more

As someone who has hated the dentist since I was a child and well into my adulthood, they have made this such a positive experience I actually look forward to coming back. From being greeted, scheduled, or checked out the customer service is beyond wonderful. Carmen and Margaret are just truly the sweetest/kindest people and make me feel seen and heard. Nancy is also such a pleasure and Dr. Shelby Cerulli is single-handedly the best dentist I've ever had in my 27 years of life. I had an absolutely wonderful experience at this office. Lauren their office administrator was extremely helpful and professional. Shafa, their fantastic dental hygienist was meticulous and made sure my comfort was ensured during the entire cleaning. She did such a wonderful job (I had many stains and they were all gone by the end of the cleaning) - I literally couldn't believe my eyes. Dr Sharma was wonderful too - very calm and comforting and took the time to explain all the x-ray findings and the different treatment options. All in all, I cannot speak more highly of this group and will certainly be referring family and friends to them! read more

Her team was great and she did a great job explaining everything that she was doing and listening to what I had to say. She kept me calm during all of my appointments and answered all of my questions. The one thing that sticks out in my mind about every visit is how friendly and polite the entire staff is! I've never had a bad experience here.
