The dentist I saw was very unhelpful and the office signed me up for the wrong type of appointment so I came in expecting to have one thing done, but she scheduled me for something else and so I said whatever and just got a partial extraction and when doing so he bruised a nerve & my bottom left side of my chin/lip was numb ** for weeks after. Not to mention at the same facility, but a different location(north eugene) I was getting a certain amount of nitrous for my dental anxiety and even though I know they have my stats from North Eugene because I signed for them to get sent over they barely give me enough for me to handle my dental anxiety, basically like not having anything at all ... do not go here if u can avoid it read more

This dentist office mainly the front office is a nightmare! Last year when I arrived at my appointment with my appointment card that they wrote in my hand, they told me that I wasn't on the schedule and this year after confirming my appointment by email, text and phone, they called me two hours before my appointment to tell me they didn't have my dentist scheduled that day. I was offered one other time to make up for this error, but when I couldn't make that as I was working, they suggested they could get me in again in August Also, 9 months ago when I scheduled this appointment, I was informed they couldn't get me in every six months for cleaning etc ., because they had too many patients from Oregon health plan. I am not on the Oregon health plan, and definitely not judging anybody who is, but was not happy with that answer, obviously. I will say, however, Dr. Tranby and his hygienist Heather have always been wonderful and very good at their jobs. It's just too bad they can't be at a place with the people around them, supporting them, actually valuing their patients. read more

I'm a new patient and scheduled my appointment back in February and the earliest time i could get in was today June 18th so I waited wasn't happy about the months I would have to wait to get in but june 2nd i get a message saying that the dentist is taking a vacation on the week i got scheduled and that im on the schedule for 02/11/2026 !!!!!! Are you freaking kidding me that's over a year that it's gonna take for me to get into a dentist appointment after waiting for months already I'm just done with this kinda service talk should just shut down and yak don't deserve to get paid the amount you make for really quite simple work that you do for people. would not recommend them read more

Horrible place to deal with, if you have an emergency, good luck! They don't seem to give a hoot. Unfortunately, I'm stuck going here because of current insurance, but as soon as I can find a way to get a different insurance policy, I'm going to discharge as a patient asap. The worst dentist office I've ever been to, left crying the only two times I was scheduled there and will never go back. The first time I went the Dental hygienist was so rude to me, asked me questions and didn't not care to listen to a response, she not only made me uncomfortable, and hurt me by cutting my mouth with the tabs used to take an X-ray, she yelled at me for moving telling me "If you want to keep moving, I have all day to do this, so it's no issue for me" then told me it was my fault that I was bleeding from her cutting my mouth... The second time I was scheduled there was for a tooth extraction, the Dental surgeon was by far the most condescending and judgmental person I've met in the medical/dental field. He interrupted me while talking several times, yelled at me because (though I'm taking blood pressure medicine) my "blood pressure was high and I needed to lose weight" he then told me that by removing this tooth there's a good chance my face can become paralyzed.. (sure it's a possibility, but who just tells someone that unless your trying to make them uncomfortable) he also told me "you should feel lucky... because I work one day a week and you actually get to be my patient" im not really one to complain about the dentist, in fact I LOVE THE DENTIST! BUT, I have never been treated worse. and the most unfortunate part about it all, is that Im willing to Guarantee that this treatment is because I am poor and have OHP as my health coverage. pretty dang sad if you ask me. read more

I messed up on my appointment today. I slept through my alarm. When I called them to apologize and to reschedule. They made me feel like dirt. I I have been having pain issues since June and my insurance company got me in sooner before Smile Keepers wouldn't .It was almost like they were punishing me. I chipped a front tooth on a friday. I came in for emergency walk in hours and was told they would see me that day but that they might not fix it in the same day. I was okay with that. I waited a little over 3 hours in the lobby before going back. After some x-rays I waited another hour. When I did see the dentist, he jumped right into telling me about extractions that need to be done. I am aware of them and plan on having them done in the summer when school is out and I will be able to recover without taking time off work. When I told the dentist that I wanted to talk about my front tooth he said it was not considered an emergency and that I should have made an appointment instead. At that point I was upset and frustrated that I took an entire day off work. He said the front desk shouldn't have even let me check in. I spoke with a manager who seemed to understand why I was upset and frustrated. She then said they had availability a few days later to do the fillings. I accepted. I got home a little before 12. Within minutes of getting home I got a call that they couldn't do the fillings without getting a teeth cleaning. I said okay and they said I could come back in one hour for a cleaning apt. In total I spent 5.5 hours at the dentist that day. Then, the night before my "filling" apt, I get a call that the dentist I saw refuses to give me a filling until I get the 3 teeth I need extracted. The teeth that need extracted are nowhere near my front tooth. This place seems not to actually CARE about their patients. I will say the woman who did my dental cleaning was very kind and seemed like she was a great dentist and person. read more

I was at the fronts desk checking in with one of the receptionist and the second receptionist stops helping who she's helping to rudely advise me that my appointment was canceled even though I had just confirmed my appointment the day before... literally the day before. Horrible excuse for a Dentist. Staff was great but the Dr. grade A Duche. Wont listen to medical history before deciding he knows best within 30 seconds of meeting you. Dr Johnson the dentist that does extractions is a wonderful, gentle and patient dentist. I loved his care. His assistant was wonderful as well. Dr Westfall the person who does the dentures is wonderful until he's delivered your dentures then he's pretty much done with you. Which really sucks. I'm still getting all scratched up and the quality of his work is not the greatest. Unfortunately there office has been paid in full so either I suffer or go back to him. I asked for a refill on my mouth wash so I don't get any infections they of course deny everything so you can make an appointment so they can bill your insurance again. I can't drive 45 mins to say look and get the script. So so frustrating the par level of service. Maybe it's because I'm on OHP. read more

I can see why this place has a bad average review, but I'm surprised it's not lower. Let me tell you why I hate this place: * Got surgery and no after surgery paperwork, just answers to my questions which was NOT everything I needed to know - I am not responsible for knowing ALL of the things I need to know about after surgery, before surgery. It is quite literally their job to inform me. The extraction itself was my only positive experience here, and if you're calling a tooth pulling a positive experience (and the rest of the care you got that day or any other day is not even included in that "positivity") you KNOW there's something wrong. * They sometimes forget to schedule things WHILE YOU'RE RIGHT THERE SCHEDULING IT WITH THEM and only realize their error and actually schedule you when you call to confirm that you're coming to the appointment they never scheduled. And no, they will not schedule you for an appointment when you were originally scheduled, they will schedule you for whenever they fucking want, including 9 in the morning when you've asked for late afternoon because you live far away, a month after your original appointment (if it's been a month since you thought they'd scheduled it - if it's been more time than that since you originally "scheduled", expect more time than that) - they do not care. * Won't schedule ANY appointments until after the next appointment is over, so if you need an x-ray, an extraction, and a cleaning within 6 months, it will NOT happen, at least not here. You're supposed to get your teeth cleaned by a dentist every 6 months and it's probably going to take you 9-12 to schedule and receive ONE cleaning if you go here, and that seems to be if you're lucky, but apparently Smile Keepers in Eugene is so busy (yes, even busier than these assholes) they don't even schedule most things there anymore, they just send you to this fuckin' place. * They know that I haven't had my teeth professionally cleaned in (now almost 15) years and they STILL wouldn't schedule me for a cleaning for months and months. * The person who helped me do x-rays was kinda condescending when asking why I didn't come in for so long. I didn't have insurance. That's the answer you're going to get with most people and you need to learn to not be so judgmental about the question in the first place. * If you try to reschedule any of this in the morning, they tell you in the message you hear that they open at 7 and will pick up then, but they will not pick up until at LEAST 7 even though they will tell you they open at 6 in the damn morning for "emergencies" (good luck if you have an emergency any other time, they give you a window of about 2 hours - also when you have an emergency all they're going to do is give you x-rays and another appointment for a few months later), and if you call after 7am, they just put you on hold & transfer you to the front desk and get asked to leave another message. This happens EVERY TIME WE CALL, EVEN AFTER THEY'RE DEFINITELY OPEN. Regardless of whether we call in the morning, or the afternoon. * Did I mention that they don't care what your name and pronouns are, they will deadname and misgender you even if you correct them EVERY time. - It is not a good place, and I hope I've been thorough in telling you why. It's the worst dental office I've ever been to. I don't trust them. There aren't even individual rooms for most of your appointments, you're just out in the open, and it's really uncomfortable. I would definitely go somewhere else if you have the choice. I might not have a choice, so wish me luck that they don't fuck up my teeth on purpose (or even on accident) next time I'm in there for writing this review. I want to say that I absolutely adore Dr. Mark Tranby, best dentist ever. However I had an appointment yesterday at 10:00 am, I waited for 6 months for this appointment, I confirmed it, and they even sent me a reminder in the morning which I liked. I got there early, gave them my name, and they told me they cancelled my appointment due to not calling them back about updating my insurance. I had my insurance card with me, they said they need more time to confirm insurance. I cried, they rescheduled my appointment for January/2024, 7 months away. Later I checked my phone to see if there was a message about insurance from them, and their was not. Basically, they gave my appointment to someone else even though I confirmed it, using the excuse they had called me. My phone would have obviously logged the number, and there would be a voicemail, i received nothing. I have went to this office for the last 16 years, my adult kids go there, and now none of us will. I feel it was a horrible thing to do, I waited 6 months, and then to schedule me another 7 months out. Never will I disrespect myself and go back there. Haven't had a cleaning in 30 years. Dentists are my favorite. I went in all nervous and stressed. From the moment Heather the dental hygienist called my name I knew it wasn't going to be so bad. She was so friendly and patient. She went through all the info with me on procedure and told me If I want to stop or feel uncomfortable at any point just say so. Have to go back for one more cleaning and it's all good. She is the best hygienist I've ever had. She made my day to so much better. Thank you Heather. Can't wait to see you again read more

I have really liked the dental hygienists there, but the scheduling and billing errors are just too much to deal with anymore. A few of many examples: -Once my husband showed up for a cleaning and checkup, but for some reason only got a cleaning. Dentist was all booked for checkups for a long time out. -Brought the kids in for an appointment only to be told that the office was having a technical problem and everything was canceled. We had to reschedule for way out. -Brought the kids in again for a different appointment and were told that it had been canceled, despite us receiving and confirming a reminder text a couple days ago. They insist they spoke to me last week about it being canceled, although my memory and phone log suggest differently! -They also tried to bill one of my sons for seeing them too frequently, so his last appointment wouldn't be covered by insurance. Only the fact that he always had appointments on the same day as his brother and his brother was NOT billed indicated that this was an error. (Otherwise we might've just paid it!) -We were told a replacement tooth cap would be completely covered, only to receive a bill for it a month later. -and more... read more

This practice can't seem to keep dentists,and I think I know why.My elementary school age son had an appointment that we confirmed the day before.He was told by the school nurse that he had an abscess an needed to be seen. When we arrived we were told that our dentist had quit and no other dentists were available.Our only option was to go to their other location at 6:45 am the next day. We arrived earlier and asked if we had an appointment. I explained the situation. The receptionist said they should not have done that and commented that they needed to have a meeting. Several other people came in after us,also without an appointment. We waited almost 4 hours. ..after others without an appointment had been seen and left long before I had the audacity to ask what was going on.The mgr. Mary said they didn't have dentists available and that we needed to just wait as they didn't have a dentist to help us. Emergency?There is no urgency in their emergency clinic.The entire staff is incompetent,inconsiderate,and clueless.This has got to be the bottom of the barrel dentist for Eugene/Springfield...the staff is the worst.And to top it off,they didn't help!Total waste of time read more

This dentists office puts children's lives at risk. If you can go elsewhere, do. I have taken my 5 year old with me here since she was born. Recently when I went to an appointment they told me she had to sit in the waitroom unattended. I said "She is five?" The receptionist said back "We made a 7 MONTH old sit out here unattended today you aren't special." The young receptionist is highly unprofessional and lacks customer service skills, she was very rude in her tone and should not be working with the public when she cannot control her attitude. Regardless of age, disability, past trauma or fear, your children will be forced to sit alone in the waitroom while you go to your appointment. They do not have a daycare license so this should be illegal and is not likely covered under their liability insurance should your child get hurt on their watch, and they had one receptionist working. ONE. How can she stop my child from walking out the door, or stop someone from grabbing my child and running out the door with them? This specific receptionist lacks the competency to care for a child or multiple children while also doing her job. Does their liability insurance cover kidnappings? The fact that any dentists office would force a 7 month old baby to wait in the waitroom alone is beyond unprofessional, it's dangerous. Making people choose between keeping their kids safe and medical care is discrimination. It is not that difficult when people make appointments, to take 3 seconds to say "Just as a note please be aware that we are not allowing anyone to accompany the patient, including children of any age." Problem solved. But that's too difficult, right? The same immature receptionist when I spoke to her on the phone today told me "They don't assume people's situations" so they wouldn't be doing that, as if the three seconds it takes to tell that to every patient so that people don't miss medical care, is too hard for them to manage. She also lied about when this policy was created. I posted my experience on social media and had several people tell me they had similar experiences taking their kids, and that their children cried being forced away from their parents but that they had to do it because they needed care. How can any business who has zero regard for childrens safety or their patients need for medical care, call themselves a family business? And furthermore, how can these "Doctors" think that having the kids in the back can spread coronavirus, but having them a few feet away in the waiting room where the door is opened several times an hour between the two spaces, somehow magically stops it? Horrible with appointments! My appointments have been re-scheduled or cancelled by them for more than 4x. I know a few others who are complaining about smile keepers. They pretty much don't care if you have a wisdom tooth and having to go through that agonizing miserable excruciating pain, only to wait for 2-3 months to he extracted, then get re-scheduled again for a later date. I have been attending Smile Keepers for about 3-4 years now and every time, I have been happy with their service. There is one lady, Heather, that is very friendly and does exceptionally well with teeth cleaning. I tend to ask a lot of questions about the process and how their tools work, and whatnot. Every time I ask, she is so happy to answer the question and offers as much information as she can on the topic. I am never bored during a teeth cleaning with Heather. My doctor, Dr. Hansen, is great. He is very quick and painless with his exams. I have never had any fillings or root canals so I cannot provide any information on that, but for teeth cleaning and exams, I definitely recommend Smile Keepers! read more

Had to switch dentists after 14 years because the last 3 visits after signing a quote for 0.00 they tell me weeks later I owe money and not a little a lot. Recently, well actually last June my son's last trip to that dentist I signed a quote for 0.00 and again they said you owe 135. I waited for a bill which I would have paid. But apparently it got sent to an address they had from like 8 years ago??? So they called telling me they were sending me to collections. Well I called back and said the usual this is not my problem I don't understand why you don't just eat that because of what's happened to me there. Why is it my problem you have the wrong address when I come in and I fill pages of updates and sign this and that every single time? The best I got was we can split that into 2 payments for you. I can't believe after 14 years of having 3 patients in one family cone to you that's the way I'm treated. Shame on you. read more

I went in for a check up and was told I had a small cavity in the back right of my mouth. I had experienced no pain or indications anything was wrong. I went in to get it fixed 2 weeks later (and while the staff was pleasant, I didn't feel comfortable, and didn't feel that the Dr tried to ease the fact that I was clearly apprehensive about being at the dentist and having work done). Since the filling, my mouth has hurt while chewing, shocks of sensitivity happen when I bite, and I am severely sensitive to hot and cold leaving me with tooth aches for 6 days. I called the office late last night and was told I would get a call back today to get me in. After not getting a call, I again called in at 2pm. I was told the next available appointment was on the 12th of December: it is the 3rd of December today. So, after not having any issues prior to seeing the dentist, I now can't chew on the right side of my mouth, and they are unable or unwilling to get me in until the 12th? They do have drop in from 7:30-8:00 this week that I will be going into, and thank goodness they offer this (as I am out of the state from the 9th-20th/and this is the only reason they get 2 stars and not 1), or I would continue to have daily toothaches and pain and not able to chew on the side of my mouth the Dr. worked on. Sad customer service and it seems to me a Dr. would want to find the time (even if it meant coming in early or leaving late) to fix a problem that he created. read more

This office is a joke! On June 11, 2019 I called Smile Keepers on Qst in Springfield, Or and requested an appointment for my two grandchildren that I am raising. The earliest appointment they could schedule me was for August 29, 2019. That was even after explaining to them that my 8 year old grandson had a swollen cheek and an abscess on one of his molars. I made the appointments for August 29th for 3 and 4 PM and got on a cancellation list for getting my grandson in earlier if possible. They were able to get my grandson in on August 5th and then again on the 26th to repair his tooth. On August 28th I received a confirmation text to confirm my appointment on the 29th for my granddaughter however it was to confirm an appointment at 10am instead of 3pm which is the time I had made the appointment for. I immediately called the office and asked them if my appointment was still scheduled for 3pm and they informed me it was in fact scheduled in their computer for 10am. I told them I could not make that time due to my job which is why I didn't schedule for that time in the first place. They informed me that the only thing they could do is reschedule the appointment for me. I went ahead and scheduled an appointment for the next available time that I could make the appointment which ended up being September 12th at 3pm. On September 11th I received my appointment confirmation text for the appointment on the 12th at 3pm, which I responded yes we will be there. On September 12th we arrived at the office 15 minutes before our scheduled 3pm appointment and upon checking in for that appointment the receptionist informed me that our appointment was actually scheduled for noon that day and we had missed it! I was very upset but after talking with her for a bit I realized it was getting me nowhere so I asked her when her next available appointment after 3pm would be. She told me not until January of 2020! So that means that I initially called on June 11, 2019 and they want me to wait until January 2020 for my granddaughter to be seen for the first time at this office! Needless to say I will be finding another dentist for both of my grandkids and I will be telling all my friends and family how unprofessional and disorganized this office is. read more
