Dr. George Ambus is as good as it gets. I just recently paid him a visit and contemplated on how grateful I am that my wife chose him as her dentist. Shortly after he became mine. His caring and professional staff both young and old have remained throughout the years which says a lot. They've always treated us and fellow patients as far as I can tell like family. One of the best things about Dr. Ambus is that he explains every detail of work always. He's always quick to pass me a mirror during explanations or when going over plans and an explanation of my xrays. I feel as though I've taken a crash course in dental school. If you wan't to keep your gums and teeth healthy and you don't want be just another number to an old stick in the mud and if you want to keep your partner and your children happy than give Doc. Ambus a try I think you will be just as happy as we are that we chose the right family dentist. Finally he's masterful with a needle and his instruments. I try my best to avoid the dentist; even at my own detriment but during the pandemic I had to deal with on and off severe tooth pain that could no longer be ignored. I needed a dentist and Dr. Ambus graciously found time for me when most dentists were closed. He dealt with a double root canal like it was business as usual. He was quick, efficient and understanding of my tooth fears. It's been a week since my rc and everyone warned me it could fail or cause severe pain. I've experienced neither. Finding a good dentist is hard, but I am glad I was recommended to Dr. Ambus by a family member. The dental office accepted UnitedHealthCare PPO and was easy to get to from my house. When I made my first appointment, the staff was very nice and informative. If anything changed, like getting an earlier appointment, they immediately notified me. The registration process was online, so I was able to complete everything beforehand which saved me a lot of time! After I arrived, the wait time was short and the dental hygenist called me in. Christine did an amazing job cleaning my teeth and explaining how I can protect them from long-term damage. Once the cleaning process was completed, Dr. Ambus tasked me if there was anything I was concerned about or wanted to change. I let him know that my previous sealants wore off and another doctor quoted me $1200 for fillings. Dr. Ambus reassured me that it was not necessary and guided me through the process. We agreed on adding new sealants in the future and it was covered under insurance! It is safe to say I will continue to come back to The Ambus Family Dentistry. read more

Absolutely love this dental practice! The dentists are friendly, caring, and use the latest dental procedures and materials. Drs. Ambus are so responsive. I recently "broke up" with my previous dentist and was looking for a more modern dental practice. I found Dr. Ambus by accident and am so happy I did! My entire family switched over to this practice and really like the care we have all received. Dr. Ambus and staff are awesome. I only started going to Dr. Ambus because he has Saturday hours and I was in desperate need of some dental work. And my dentist at the time is only open during banker hours. Alas, I was too late and the tooth got infected. Yeesh, my luck. Dr. Ambus prescribed antibiotics but they didn't work. Not to fear, Dr. Ambus and staff got me in ASAP and got to working on my tooth and I have been going to Dr. Ambus since. The great things about Dr. Ambus' office are the following: - Has Saturday hours. This is rare for a dentist. - The locations both have parking!! YAY - The staff is highly personable, easy to talk to and will work hard at trying to get you in the office. - The staff is highly organized, I never had to take scrounge or scurry for my insurance information, they took care of it for me. Lastly, Dr. Ambus always has classic rock jamming, as well as some cool action flick on the TV screen. Last time it was "Falling Down," with Michael Douglass and after that, the "Negotiator," with Samuel Jackson. The movies are a nice distraction, considering that going to the Dentist is never fun. read more

I fell running my 2 dogs, resulting in a broken crown that left a jagged, nubby tooth below. I called the office and left a message on the after-hours machine. Dr Ambus promptly returned it, saying he could see me the next day. I came in, he smoothed out the rough pointy edges of the tooth, and put a temporary cement-like filling over it until the new crown could be placed. One thing that stands out with him over so many other doctors is that when you talk he REALLY listens intently. For instance, he might be working on something behind your chair and should you remember something or have questions, he will come and stand next to you. He takes it all in with a look of concern that turns into a moment of reassurance. So Dr Ambus, thank you for fitting my emergency in, for saving my tongue from getting thrashed on those jagged edges, and for listening like a doctor should! Big shout out also to his dental technician 'Ben' for being so friendly and putting me at ease. read more

I was very hesitant in the beginning to pick any dentist but I made the best choice by picking Dr. Ambus. Him and his team are wonderful. I received my first root canal from Dr. Ambus and I did NOT feel a thing during the procedure. I just moved to SF and have been looking for a reliable dentist for a while. Dr Ambus and his stuffs really give me great dental experience. At first I was a little bit skeptical when I saw Dr Ambus can do a wide variety of dental works such as filling, root canal, extraction, Invisalign etc. I tried fillings and it worked great for me. Dr was honest and did 3 fillings for me ( I've visited other place who recommend me do 6 fillings and 2 root canals).
