This is t the same Liam's I enjoyed years ago. I'd been hearing this from others for some time, and while our visits have been mixed, we stayed true and kept coming. Last night we came to celebrate my son's birthday. We were seated promptly for our reservation. Service was great with our server telling us if the specials (the daily blue and the yellowtail collars they had as an appetizer). We ordered a round of drinks for the table. All was going well. The smoked fish dip was good - a solid performer. We especially liked the pickled veg that came along side it. Our mains consisted of the daily blue, two had the new chicken sandwich, and I ordered the duroc aged pork chop. Liam's is fancy now, with mains not coming with sides. This certainly cranked up the bill. I had the pork chop, which was really small despite the declared weight and the price of $45. The taste was good, but didn't really impress me. The daily blue had skin that was charred, but the fish part was good. My daughter wasn't impressed with that. The chicken sandwiches, however, were a hit. Go figure. All but the daily blue ordered a side dish. Two had the mashed potatoes, which were good, I ordered the side with stringy cheese, prosciutto, peaches, and sliced peppers. No flavor. I get the bill and there is a $9.40-something charge in there for a "non-cash transaction". Also, my two drinks were charged a dollar more than the menu price. With everything there at a premium price (a larger and much better pork chop can be had at St James for more than $10 less - with sides!), everything is a la carte, and a silly charge for not having cash means I'm done with Liam's. The place where I discovered my first and favorite scotch, a love for unique cheeses, and great cooking techniques has been outdone by at least one local competitor while increasing prices and serving less. It's a shame, but they never seem to be full, so instead of improving value and delivery, they've gone to increasing prices. read more

Originally we were at Jonah's Fish and Grits when we were told they don't serve alcohol and to partake alcohol at nearby Liam's, so well, we did just that. While we waited to be called in for our reservation, we went to the bar at Liam's and had a drink each. I had Maker's Mark neat, my companions had beer and a pair of cocktails whose names escape me. We had great service and the drinks were done right. Honestly I think the only thing I can say anything negative of is the décor. This place is special. I can't adequately explain it...you have to feel it for yourself, but Rhonda has just really "hit" it. The drinks were amazing, the staff were lovely and seemed genuinely happy to be there themselves; we felt instantly welcomed and at home. We had a drink, circled the town and returned for dinner and more drinks. The pork shank was delish and the corn fritters...amazing. I hear the menu changes weekly and I imagine it's all wonderful. Came here for my sister's graduation, it was a nice place to sit, relax, and chat after a hectic day. The food came out in a timely manner so that was a plus too. I didn't enjoy the veal that I ordered but everything else was delicious, especially the Whole Shebang Charcuterie Board. Don't do it! This is probably the worst most expensive meal I have ever had in my life! I'm stunned at what I was served! 5 tiny, rubbery shrimp that tasted freezer burned on dry, bland rice without any sauce and a few green onions in a cereal bowl sized dish was $28.00! Go elsewhere! read more

The Food Was Fabulous I Will Never Go Back. I had 1 beer (a delicious breakfast stout), one 10 oz Porkchop and half a cup of mashed potatoes. With taxes and tip it cost me $40. Service and ambiance were nice. The food was fantastic. There was embarrassingly little of it. Bread while I waited, a salad and the volume of a medium potatoe would have completely changed my experience. After dinner I walked around the corner to the pool hall for a PBR and a couple of chili dogs to muster the strength to go back to the hotel and sleep. read more

I used to travel to Thomasville a bit for work and would always love stopping by Liam's for a nice after work happy hour. We decided to make a weekend trip to really enjoy the town. I was shocked when we found out they have happy hour on Saturday's from 5-7pm!! That's unheard of! We had some pre-dinner drinks here. They have a to die for old fashioned that's only $8 during HH. We ended with Eagle Rare on a gentleman's cube with a twist and it was only $6! I'm blown away and can't wait to come back already! House made pasta and breads are a highlight and the menu changes often to reflect fresh locally grown vegetables and locally sourced meats . We started with the charcuterie and added a soft cheese and followed it with the pasta and a warm squid salad - all were delightful. The service was friendly , personable , & efficient. We went to Liam's once and I felt it was highly over rated. My husband ordered a burger and asked if he could have a slice of tomato added and they told him no. He told them he was more than willing to pay for a slice of tomato and the server very condescendingly told him "we don't even have a tomato in the Restaurant!" I don't eat a lot but the portions were small even for me. It was lunch but the selection was very small and I didn't feel it was worth the price and it definitely did not live up to the hype. Traveling out of town as usual & found Liam's. I arrived at 5:15 & terribly busy yet. There is patio setting in between Liam's & Jonah's. They have no bottled beer- all craft or cocktails. I had grapefruit martini which was very good. I ordered brussel sprouts & a spicy crab dip platter. I had x3 artisan cheeses, crab dip, pickled green tomato slice and a dill pickle. It was also served with homemade crackers which were very good also. The cheeses & pickled tomato were by far best thing I ate and worth eating again. Was in town on a business trip and limited amount of restaurants that permitted inside/outside seating due to Covid. Liam's was the first restaurant I noticed people inside. I could not of had better luck. Greeted by the extremely friendly and welcoming owner, I felt comfortable and right at home. The service was just as amazing as the cuisine. Got the "Border Springs Lamb" dish that was a complete disaster. The description: 'Shoulder, Jimmy Red Grits, Tomato Gravy, Herb Salad.' Watery grits, flat tomato sauce and very gamey lamb that was not complemented by the pickled beets it was served with. The presentation was a soupy bowl of sadness. I mean, it would scare small children it was that bad. It wasn't "Border Springs Lamb" - terrible description. It was an attempt at 'lamb n grits' and it just didn't work. The dish from beginning (description) to end (execution) needs to be re-worked. I love lamb and adore grits. It could really work and I hope the dish gets some love and attention. read more
