It's been years since I've used George Baird Drain Service. I have been using a local plumber that did all plumbing services that was wonderful and trustworthy, but sadly he passed away. Ever since i've been trying to find another all-service plumber that is just as trustworthy and fair pricing, but have yet to find the right one. For services other than drain clearing, I've been paying $165/hour so when my washing machine pipe decided to overflow, I know I needed to get someone who was more reasonable to snake my pipe. Thankfully I remembered about George Baird Drain Service. They are absolutely the best! Baird was at my house within hours of calling, started snaking the washing machine pipe and knew quickly that it wouldn't clear it enough, so he switched to snaking the kitchen sink, which the washer backs up to. When he realized it needed more, he climbed up on my roof and snaked the main pipe. Cleared! Altogehter he was here for 30 minutes and charged me $50. As a widow, looking for someone I can trust is very important. I am thankful there is someone like Baird that is very honest and beyond fair in their pricing. read more

He was available today(!) when I needed him, was on time, very helpful, was glad to give me advice when I asked. I think this was George's son-in-law, I didn't catch his name. He cleared an upstairs drain then asked if there was plumbing downstairs, below. Yes there is. He went downstairs to MAKE SURE he hadn't just pushed the clog further to cause problems there. Uh oh, now the downstairs bathtub drain (which was already slow) was backed up. But he cleared that too, and of course only charged me for clearing one drain. And it is a VERY low price. I've used this company several times over the past 30 years (it's a 60-year old house after all) and have always been VERY pleased with their work. NOTE I feel sure that most of the 1-star reviews are actually people who used the imposter company without realizing it. As the real company states here on Yelp, "With our business we just unclog the drains. We don't do any plumbing work. Do not Call the 858 number, they are not us." This business is affordable, arrives on time, and provides great customer service. I called around to several plumbers to get a quote, and they offered the best rate $40! Our property manager highly recommended this business, and I wish I had just listened. I spent around four hours calling around and price-checking to get the best deal. I didn't know the price of George Baird Drain Service when I decided to do this. Our bathtub and shower were both clogged. I tried home remedies, including hot water and vinegar. My husband attempted to snake it out and use a plunger to no avail. The call center representative's name was Carol, and the plumber's name was Kevin. Kevin arrived on time, completed the job quickly, and was courteous. We have a catcher in our bathtub but not in our shower. There was a ton of hair that clogged up our bathroom. read more

I have used George Bairds service for many years, unfortunately, as my house's plumbing is 70 years old. Today I called for an appointment to unclog a kitchen sink and Joshua arrived in the time frame I was given. He was polite, friendly and fixed the problem in just a few minutes. It was not under the sink. Their price is almost unbelievable. I am astonished that they are so reasonable in this day and age. This really helps a Senior as I am. I highly recommend them. Stay away from this company and George. Terrible service! He was rude and lacked patience when communicating with clients. While trying to fix my clogged drain, he broke my toilet seat. I paid him, only to realize that he didn't fix the issue at all. I called right away to come back or refund me. Guess what?! They blocked my phone number because this is how they treat their clients. They didn't fix my clog, just tried to upsell me on hydrojetting. A waste of money. I won't ever be using them ever again. They sent someone out to my house on the weekend for a clogged kitchen drain. He tried to snake it but said he couldn't do it with the snake and I'd need to pay $1500 for hydrojetting. I asked him again to try to clear it with a snake and he said he couldn't. I said no to the hydrojetting and paid him for his time. A tale of two Bairds. I thought I was calling George Baird but instead I just called Baird. They said my drain could not be unclogged and had an estimate that ranged from 3,280 dollars to replace main pipes at 13,000. I was really upset at such an high charge. However, I decided to call George Baird who showed up at my house, unclogged the drains for 40 bucks. They didn't try to sell me. They came here and unclogged the drain in like 5 minutes while just plain Baird spent two hours with lots of bad news. Lots. George Baird is who you want my friends. read more

I requested service at 7:30 am on Sunday. I received a text from an independent contractor plumber 4 hours later and he said he would come by after 2:30. At 2:40, he texted me that he was going to be there soon but that I had to pay in full before he even got to the house. I have used George Baird before and this has never happened. We always pay after the service -- and sign for the service when they get there. He claimed it was because it was Sunday -- ??? So I said I could pay after he did the service or we could reschedule for not a Sunday. He then said the earliest was Tuesday - WTF??? I called 7:30 am to be put off two days??? So I said that's not acceptable, we will find someone else -- and he sent a THUMBS UP. I called the emergency service again and the lady sounded very taken aback and said she would have the manager and dispatcher call me. Here it is, 24 hours later, and no call. Sad to say this Service has gone way down hill and I can no longer recommend it. Go elsewhere -- I did. read more

Josh came out next day to clear a completely clogged bathroom sink that I could not get with my Home Depot snake. Not even 2 minutes after he started, everything was flowing smoothly again. Amazing work, great guy, and super friendly. I could not believe they only charge $40 for this service when estimates from other companies were in the $500 range. Tipped him 100% as he definitely deserved it. He also gave me a couple referrals to other companies that he knows for some other issues I have. I've had so many home repairs come up this year and when my kitchen sink got clogged, I was dreading having to call a plumber and incur additional costs this year. I wanted to make sure it wasn't something simple, so I checked the p-trap myself. I tried all of the boiling water and baking soda/vinegar remedies. My neighbor let me borrow his manual snake but I couldn't muscle it myself. My coworker said she had a kitchen clog as well and she was charged $300 and they snaked it for her. Oops! Had our sewer drain cleared yet again today but on the upside it was done as usual promptly, professionally, and reasonably priced. Nick is great to work with. May not be back too soon though as we might now finally get the issue causing these repeated blockages fixed. Been using this plumber for 20+ years but it definitely had a change of ownership or something. Made an appointment and the awful tech came out. Said he'd do it for 125. Went to the back then promptly left WITHOUT doing the work and leaving my gate open... I'm assuming he couldn't find anything to upcharge. Called the company and they haven't called back or apologize for wasting my time. Stick with Bill Howle. People cry about large corporations but at least they finish the work and ARE ACCOUNTABLE. Very dissatisfied. I've used this company twice in the past and the person that came out was amazing. I learned that they subcontract, so there is no way of requesting the same person. When the same issue of my pipes clogging occurred and the new person that came out, he used a different method and although he said it was cleared, everything started backing up again within a week . Called them again and I had to pay full price for the person to come back out and do the same job. Fast-forward two days later and everything started clogging up again. Called them a third time and they said that they would have to put a camera through the pipes and would charge me again full price with no discount even though the first two times we're not successful. Unless they can guarantee me getting the person that came out the first two times, I will not be using them again. read more
