Floss was jammed with extreme force into my gums and was given a snarky response about how my teeth were not clean. I've been to Dr. Tobar's office twice and they were by far the worst experience I've ever had at a dental office. I chose her office because of all the wonderful reviews but my experience couldn't have been more opposite. The first time I had a cleaning the dental hygienist was the roughest I have ever experienced after telling her I had one bad experience with a rough cleaning. We finished the cleaning and after I left I had realized that she had forgotten to polish my teeth (fairly standard after a normal clean). I thought maybe I had one bad experience the first time around and given the great reviews, I decided to go through with my already scheduled second appointment about 6 months later. I had the same dental hygienist and although the cleaning felt a little more gentle this time around, she clearly rushed through the polishing and then proceeded to jam floss down my gums with extreme force. After we were done with the flossing, I asked her "is it normal to floss that hard", she then proceeded to give me a snarky response stating that my teeth were never clean when I came in and that she was in a rush to the next appointment. Being in a rush to your next appointment should never take precedent over a client's experience and this was exactly what happened. I checked my phone after we had this exchange and we were a whopping 2 minutes over. The office consistently tried to sell me on a 'deep clean' stating that my insurance would cover 90% of the cost but that it would still cost me $200 out of pocket for this 'deep clean'. The office was very pushy and continuously asked me to schedule a deep clean every chance they were able to while I was in the office. Needless to say, I will not be coming in for a 'deep cleaning' or ever again for that matter.

    During my deep cleaning with Dr. Leila Jamshidi, the appointment felt very rushed. I've had deep…read morecleanings before, and they have always been much more thorough and taken considerably longer. One side of my mouth was completed in about 12-15 minutes. When I returned for the other side, I experienced significant discomfort during the procedure. Dr. Jamshidi told me she had accidentally poked a blood vessel and that I might feel jittery for a few minutes, which would pass. While I appreciated the explanation, I was surprised that there wasn't any acknowledgment or apology for what had happened or for the discomfort I experienced. A couple of weeks later, I returned to discuss my concerns and saw Dr. Wang. Unfortunately, that visit wasn't much better. I felt my concerns were dismissed, as I was repeatedly told the deep cleaning had gone well and that there was nothing wrong with my gums. I mentioned that gargling with warm salt water may have helped relieve some of the discomfort afterward, but my point was that I didn't expect to need home remedies after a routine dental procedure. I left feeling unheard and unsatisfied with the care I received. My wife also had a similar experience. During her appointment with Dr. Leila Jamshidi, she felt that the dental hygienist was more thorough and attentive than the dentist, which reinforced our shared impression that the quality and consistency of care have declined. What made these experiences especially disappointing is that I had previously been treated by Dr. Mathai, who was always thorough, attentive, and took the time to explain everything. The difference in care and communication was very noticeable. We've been patients at this practice for years, and its convenient location is one of the reasons we've continued to come back. That's what makes this so disappointing. It's genuinely sad that, after so many years, we've reached the point where we feel we need to find another dentist. I've also noticed what seems to be a high turnover of providers, which has made the patient experience feel less consistent. While the office has added nice touches like a beverage center, amenities like that don't make up for a decline in the quality of care and service. The one bright spot throughout my visits has been Mackenzie. She has always been warm, welcoming, and kind when checking patients in and scheduling appointments. She consistently made me feel comfortable and valued, and I truly appreciated her professionalism. After two experiences that left me questioning the quality of care--and seeing my wife have a similar experience--I've decided it's time to find another dentist. I hope this feedback is taken in the spirit it's intended: as constructive feedback that helps improve communication, consistency, and the overall patient experience.
