Dr. Hing is an excellent dentist. The dental technicians in his office are also very good and work well with each other. The front office staff are very good at coordinating follow-up visits and working with your insurance. If needed, the medical professionals Dr. Hing recommends for additional dental work (e.g. recent root canal) are also excellent. But overall, not only is Dr. Hing great at his work, but he is very assuring, patient, and thorough. I have been with Dr. Hing for approx. 14 years, my wife has been under his care longer than me, and when our daughter flies in for a visit from NYC she schedules a visit with Dr. Hing. Dr. Hing was referred to me as the 'Dentist of Dentists' by my friend Ben. Ben is the only one in my friend network that actually remembers and LIKES his dentist. Dr. Hing is awesome, gentle, kind, caring, and professional. (I've always been deathly afraid of dentists too, ever since I had a fowl root canal experience with another dentist.) In the beginning, I needed a dentist and went to 1800-Dentist. Don't ever ever ever do this. The referred dentist office had great photos on the wall that he took himself. But I instinctively felt that he dentist hacked way too much off my tooth for a root canal. And I don't think I needed that root canal. I never questioned dentists before so he went through with it. Also, the visits with that dentist were spaced so far apart without keeping any of my dental insurance plan in mind. So not only did he leave me with half my tooth, but I also couldn't afford going back! (I honestly felt this dentist was better photographer than a dentist. ) So Dr. Hing basically helped me out by finishing the job right and within my budget. Ultimately, I ended up losing that tooth due to an infection about a year later. And I think Dr. Hing was more disappointed when I lost the tooth than I was. Other good points: Not only does Dr. Hing welcome questions, but he actually cares about saving every milimeter of your every tooth! He has a steady hand for numbing you. His receptionists are easy to work with. And if the job is too complicated or requires a specialist, he refers you to one within his network who are just as qualified if not, more instrumental to the overall protection of your teeth. Dr. Hing has been our family dentist for more than 5 yrs and we can't say enough good things about his practice. Recently, I needed a complex procedure which involved multiple visits to create impressions for a crown and filing down an adjacent tooth. Dr. Hing had incredibly high standards, and sent back the first crown. He wanted it to be just right and took the extra time to make sure it fit. Most other dentists would have not gone the extra mile--and he did so at no extra charge. My wife and I have always felt that Dr. Hing and his lovely staff take their time make sure the visit is complete and thorough - we never feel rushed. At other dentists we have sometimes felt "like a number." But here, we feel as if we are seeing an old friend each time, and getting the attention we need. The front desk staff is very professional and the dental hygienists are fantastic as well. We feel that they have taken appropriate levels of care to protect themselves and their patients from Covid. I must confess, I have avoided going to the dentist for years. Why? As a child I had a terrible experience and it stuck. About a year ago a tooth chipped and I had no choice. I was schedule to travel just 2 days later. Dr. Hing was highly recommended to me by several friends and had me fixed up in time for my trip. Since that day, my mouth has had a full overhaul, including a crown. The care and price are always right! Let me start out by saying Dr. Hing has been my dentist for over 30 years. He is now responsible for my entire families dental care. A friend asked me if I could help her - she needed a specimen for some x-ray-shots for her dental assistant training. Sure thing, I was happy to help. Her boss, Dr. Hing, checked the shots and gave me a free consultation afterwards. He even spotted some decay under an old filling. Had him replace that filling the following week and am very happy with his work - he has high attention to detail and is an all-around nice fellow, too. I've been going to Dr. Hing for 11 years and he is hands down the best dentist around. I live on the other side of town and he is the *only* doctor that I am willing to drive so far for. When my insurance carrier changed and no longer covered him, I paid out of pocket. He is the best! I've had enough bad dental experiences to know a gem, and Dr. Hing is a GEM! He manages to fix things without being painful. He's up to date on all the latest dental stuff. When I ask him something I'm confident that I'm getting the best advice and I can stop worrying. He's fun to talk with. But most of all, he just does an amazing job. He is a complete perfectionist and will not rest until the job is done and done perfectly. My husband had 2 different dentists "fix" a cavity that was causing him temperature sensitivity and neither were able. Dr. Hing fixed it on the 1st try. I've had such terrible luck with both my teeth and finding a dentist until I saw Dr. Hing. He has been my dentist for 3 years now and by all accounts, I can't imagine any better dentist: 1. He's a perfectionist. He is very meticulous and incessant in making sure the crown or cavity filling is perfect or optimal. 2. He's extremely honest. You get the sense almost immediately from him that he is a dentist not because of the money but because he loves it. He never prescribes unnecessary treatments. Moreso, some dentist would rather do the rootcanal or other intricate operations themselves rather than referring to a specialist to maximize their revenue. He has a network of equally great specialist that he refers his patients to for such operations, if need be. Again, another clear sign that he's not out for the money but rather for the well being of his patients. Once you realize that, all the fear and hesitation of going to see a dentist just disappears. 3. I absolutely love the fact that he does the teeth cleaning himself. Even though this definitely a money losing operation for him but if you choose to, you can have your teeth cleaned by him instead of the dental hygienist. Nothing bad about the hygienist, I never met her but I like the fact that he does it himself. read more

Been coming to this office for years and by years I mean more than 15 years now and every time I look forward to my visit! Dr. Hing and Dr. Watters are very good at what they do and they genuinely care for their patients' health. I've been to other dentists when I moved away but when I came to Dr. Hing's for a cleaning (because I was in the area) he noticed that the other dentist didn't do a very good job on my fillings. Long story short he fixed my teeth. And I wouldn't trust anyone else to work on them. I travel 8 hrs just to get a cleaning from him. I have been going to Dr. Hing for years based off of a friend's recommendation and he is excellent. I have gone to really jenky dentists in my HMO before with old (like 1970s old) equipment. After trying Dr. Hing and paying the difference on my own, I upgraded my dental insurance to get him covered 100%. He is very thorough, does all the cleanings himself, is very meticulous and detail oriented and very patient. I had to get a crown and while he doesn't do the crown himself, the crown that I got wasn't quite perfect and he said no problem, he would tell them to fix it and have me come in again to get it permanently put in place because he sais he knows how particular he is and didn't want me to settle. Love that. Just got my teeth cleaned again today - A+++! read more

Dr. Hing is not only very friendly and has a great smile (something every dentist should have), but he is an artist with teeth and he cares deeply about saving them. I had a cracked tooth maybe over ten years ago, and he put a temporary filling on it, crafting a temporary crown, as he told me that I'd probably have to get a real crown in about six months. He provides an extremely clean and professional environment where you feel safe and comfortable. His staff is courteous and friendly. You will always get a greeting from everybody there and a friendly smile. When it comes to dental work, he is by far one of the top dentists in San Francisco. You can tell when someone is passionate about their work, when they are constantly investing in newer equipment, dentist tools, etc. in order to provide the best experience for their patients. Dr. Hing is the best dentist I have ever gone to! He works fast and has a flexible schedule. I'm not sure how he does it, but each visit to Dr. Hing's office involves far less pain for me than any other dentist I have ever gone to. His receptionist is also amazing.
