Yay, I love little diners like this. We came here this past week when making breakfast at home woulda woken up the company staying on the couch - and while it's not as good as homemade breaky, the food and atmosphere is exactly what I expect from this type of diner. Everything is all down home, from the random curmudgeony dudes drinking coffee at the counter, to the older couple eating matching omelets in the corner, to the placid low-volume top 40 on the radio. Oh and the specials of the day written on a white board, messily erased and re-written. Gentleman-friend ordered a bacon omelet, and I got the eggs and hash - each was a special and only about $4. With coffees and tip, we couldn't have spent more than $12. What a freakin' deal. Everything was definitely decent, too - like I said, exactly what you'd expect for a place like this. My husband and I go here all the time. We even brought in old coffee mugs for them to use at the diner. We have seen them out a few times. I love the french toast! Not sure what they put it in, but the best I have ever had hands down...better than the hipster french toast you would get at other places. That's what I like about this place. Stopped in here today for breakfast with my husband, and we had a fantastic experience. Everybody was extremely pleasant, including both the staff and other patrons. It was pretty busy around 11am, but I expected as much. Though the menu was pretty standard for diners, everything we had was delicious, especially the pancakes, which had just the right about of sweetness. Great for that greasy spoon breakfast you're craving after a night of drinking. Very good freshly prepared meal that will come to your table quicker than you can order it. Great prices and that cool old school diner feel. Not in the greatest of areas, but that's probably how they can keep their prices so low. I have the blueberry pancakes and they were fantastic, nice fluffy pancake with fresh blueberry's. Only complaint was no real variety of syrups to choose from. This cute little diner in North Clintonville is a good choice for a cheap breakfast. I'd come here if the line's too long everywhere else. They've got all the basics: eggs any style, the various breakfast meats, potatoes, toast, pancakes, pie. (its never too early for pie) On the plus side, they have pretty decent corned beef. And pie! On the down side, the pancakes are mediocre; taste like a box mix. Also my hashbrowns had a faint soapy taste. Maybe that was a one-time thing, but that doesn't make it right. read more

I like this place but yet I had a weird vibe from our server. I felt like they just wanted us to pay the check and leave. We did spend close to 2 hours here but there were always tables open. I looked around and I made that we weren't monopolizing a table. I would have given this 4 stars if it wasn't for the vibe as I really liked the food. I ordered the Breakfast Bowl for $6 along with a coffee for $1.75. The Breakfast Bowl is what I like as it was an egg mixed with Biscuits and gravy. Biscuits & Gravy is $5 so you might as well go with the bowl. It was easy enough to fill me up. The coffee was your regular diner coffee as I wouldn't rave about it but it was good enough. Initially I barely took three sips and I was refilled but that slowed after a little bit. I even told her on my last fill that I was done so she didn't need to worry about it. They have only one bathroom that is for all. I would come back but I would not go out of my way. I don't live close so this isn't my local joint. We were seated quickly on a Sunday morning. Our server was super nice. Our food was awesome and cheap. The place is clean. What more can you say? Well let me rave about the biscuits and gravy for just a sec. The biscuits are so buttery, with a toasty-crunch on top and soft and steamy inside. Absolutely the best I've had. The gravy is thick and full of tasty sausage chunks. It's perfectly seasoned with a lot of salt and pepper. Not sure why, but so many places serve bland flavorless gravy. Have been going here for breakfast a few times now and it's always delicious. The pancakes or hotcakes, as they call them here, are the bomb diggity. Priced right and the service is great. A must-have if you go to Columbus. Whenever we come up for concerts we make sure to stop here. Kind of a small place so the wait for a booth is sometimes a bit long but it's well worth it. They also have counter seating which moves a lot quicker. I get the garbage omelette... A little bit of everything and it was huge. It comes with some of the best restaurant breakfast potatoes I've ever had . They're kind of like fried potatoes and onions but just without the onions, so nice and crispy and buttery. One of the first places I ate at when I was checking out Columbus (before my move here). Yelp did not steer me wrong: Beechwold Diner is good old delicious diner comfort food, no frills. (Yelp hasn't been doing as well with other places though, but I'm still faithful.) Servers are hardworking women, all moving around each other in a coordinated dance with hands full of delicious plates of food. We always eat at the bar so there's usually minimal wait for us. If you're there during the weekend brunch and you're looking for a booth? You'll have a bit of a wait, but not bad at all. I have been going to the Beechwold Diner since it opened. It was one of those rare family owned restaurants that tasted amazing, and always had the best prices. I am so excited to stimulate the local economy, and enjoy a good meal! Although the place is small, and you might have to wait for a table, it is well worth it. The food comes quickly once you are seated and the prices are great. A lot of people that I take here have been to Scramblers or First Watch, but after eating here they love it! My favorite is the home made cherry pie and ice cream! Had a unpleasant experience here. The waitress that was supposed to be taking our order took about 15 mins to even ask us if we would like a drink. She smelled of alcohol and entertained the guys at the table next to us first and more, and they got there after us!! She was an older short waitress with a clear faceguard. I Iike Mom and Pop places so I tend to gravitate to them for breakfast. I hadn't eaten here for years I think it was called something else but it's been so long ago I've forgotten its name. Anyhow my better half took me out for breakfast for Mothers Day and we opted to go here. It's a small diner with lots of pics that remind you of the good old days and gives the place a Diner feel. As expected it was was crowded but we didn't have to wait long for a table as it seemed to turn pretty fast as diners knew people were waiting. The menus are on the table so you don't have to wait for the server to bring you them. Our server came to our table and took our drink order. They give you coffee cups like you have at home in all kinds of styles. I ordered the breakfast sandwich with bacon and American cheese and added on lettuce and tomato and it's served with potatoes. My other half ordered the western omelette with pepperjack cheese and potatoes and wheat toast. While waiting for my food I went to the restroom and there's only one for everyone. I thought it odd that there were two chairs in it. On my way to the restroom I saw what looked like my sandwich but wasn't sure as there is no heating lamp to keep food hot and I didn't see my husbands omelette. After returning to my table we got our order in a few minutes. I was right that was my sandwich. My potatoes were lukewarm some even cold. I don't care for cold potatoes and these aren't seasoned at all. Pretty underwhelming. The sandwich was okay but lacked meat imo. Hubbys omelette looked good and he said it was too but agreed the potatoes were just bland. Anyhow good service decent prices and a diner atmosphere. I've visited this restaurant for years and always loved it until this past Sunday. While eating with a friend, a Latina employee of the restaurant started talking to my Latino friend and I in Spanish. Mindy, a server, overheard us and yells very loudly, "your in America, speak English". I asked to speak to a manager and the owner of the restaurant came to discuss the situation. The first thing out of his mouth was that this was a joke. At no point did anyone involved in this conversation laugh, find it funny or even remotely appropriate especially considering less than 24 hours prior there was a mass murder of Mexicans at an El Paso WalMart. I expressed to the owner how uncomfortable these comments made not only us feel but everyone around us. Who speaks to someone so disrespectfully, let alone someone who's a patron of your establishment and another young lady who's also your co-worker. There's never a time or place that's appropriate for such racist remarks and to brush it off as a 'joke' is utterly disgusting. The owner then went on to say that he can't control the comments of all 9 of his employees. I'll give him that. However, what he can control is the environment and culture that he's created that made Mindy feel safe spewing such hate to a customer and co-worker. This was not a joke. Your co-worker was not laughing, and at no point did Mindy apologize to us for being offended at her 'joke'. I'm appalled and disgusted that this type of behavior is tolerated and accepted by the owner of this establishment. I'm regretting even paying my bill before leaving and fattening the pockets of a racist establishment. read more

The food at George's was good but nothing spectacular except for the potatoes fresh fried up delicious goodness. The servers really make the place they are fun and friendly just what you expect in a diner. There were only a couple things that I did not like one is sausage they do not make their own and the vendor they are getting theirs from is very salty. The other thing I noticed at the counter they had serving plates up on the counter in my opinion those plates should be on a cart or somewhere else. Went on a Saturday and it was busy! Super waitress, fast service, got food quickly! I hesitate to write this but I think it is a positive, we had a piece of plastic in our home fries, which isn't good, but we do understand things happen in a very busy kitchen. Our waitress took it to the chef and appoligized several times. At the end of the meal the manager or possibly owner came over to appoligize again, took the food off the bill and gave us free dessert. He was very nice, concerned that we were upset and a perfect example of how to handle a problem.
