Tried multiple times to come based on the hours posted at your door. Everytime, you've been closed. Your staff see us but look away and ignore us. Your offerings look great so that's why we've tried a few times but we're giving up (I guess you open later than the posted hours and close earlier, or random?). Would give ZERO STARS if I could. Made a reservation for the round table in the back a month ago and they told me to call ahead and order donuts so that they aren't sold out when we arrive. When I call to do so 3 days before, Josie says, "I'm sorry I meant to call you. We have to cancel your reservation. I hope this isn't too short notice." Then she hangs up. I have not received my $70 deposit back and she did not offer any kind of compensation for the late cancellation and trouble. The staff is friendly and the space is very aesthetic and bright. The operations, however, are absolutely in need of work. I walked by one weekday and saw there were only eight-ish people in line, so I thought it would go by relatively quickly since it's just people ordering donuts and other quick things right? It took 40 minutes. I truly couldn't understand why. Another time I stopped by and there was no line. I went in, ordered, and stood by the side to pick it up. When I ordered, the item I wanted was still available, but by the time they got around to fulfilling my order, it ran out. They offered me a replacement instead of a refund, and because I didn't want to wait around to get the latter, I opted for a donut I didn't really want (bacon and eggs, which isn't my cup of tea). The main issue seems to be that the person taking your order isn't the one fulfilling the order, and communication between the two parties aren't up to speed. read more

The lines have died down and we thought it was time to give this much hyped donut shop a try. This is more than a donut shop, as the name implies. We were there for the donuts. leaving the wine offerings for another time. The donuts were excellent I had the crème brûlée and my wife had the churro dusted cruller,and a glazed donut to go,. We also had a cup of coffee each and that's where this all but excellent review goes south. The coffee was fine but there were no refills. The cost to the company for a refill would easily be offset by additional purchases , not to mention the goodwill and willingness to return again and often. I can understand not having unlimited refills , you don't want people camping out, but to deny one refill without charge says to the customer, thank you..now get out. read more

Honestly not great. Arrived 20 minutes before opening and got to the front of the line 15 minutes after opening. The shop itself is adorable! Beautifully decorated and light filled. I ordered 5 donuts and a chocolate chip cookie. The donuts - Classic glazed, chocolate glazed, vanilla bean cruller, strawberry champagne brioche, and apple fritter brioche. Nothing was fresh or warm, I'm truly puzzled by the great reviews for this place. - Classic glazed (1 star) doughy, light, oily - Chocolate glazed (3 stars) the chocolate glaze was actually pretty good, but it wasn't great. Of the donuts I tried, this was the best one - vanilla bean cruller (1 star) tastes mostly like oil with an aftertaste of vanilla bean. This had a weird spongy texture - strawberry champagne brioche (2 stars) strawberry filling was pretty consistent with most other donut places, this was fine, I didn't hate it - apple fritter brioche (3 stars) my second favorite donut I tried here, most likely because of the apple pieces. Weird spongy texture like the cruller - chocolate chip cookie (1 star) truly incredible how the dense dough tasted like absolutely nothing. Literally nothing until I hit the chocolate and tasted only the chocolate. one of the worst chocolate chip cookies I've ever had. I think it's popular because it's new but not because it's good. After ordering, it took another 10 minutes to get the donuts, which made no sense because none of them were freshly made or being warmed up. Delicious donut and fast, friendly service! I ordered a creme brûlée donut to-go but I would love to come back to sit down and food on their menu. The interior is also really beautifully decorated. As for the donut I rate it a 9/10. The donut was light and fluffy with a crunchy sugar coating. The only thing was that the sugar topping was a little too thick, but still a great donut. read more

The hostess clearly needs to feel important and she runs a tight ship which is FINE but what is NOT okay is telling an 80 year old innocent man who was a customer to get up because he was there for too long and to make room for others. He was just trying to enjoy his Sunday and it is so heartless to me to treat an elderly person that way when he's already drinking his coffee alone. My wife and I love this restaurant. So far we've tried the raised glazed and donut holes, both are fantastic. We've enjoyed the salads, sandwiches and fries. Great drinks including the wine, some type of alcohol spritzer drink that was very refreshing and I really like their cappuccinos. Very friendly service. The restaurant fits the area of town and looks nice inside. I found there to be a longer wait to takeout than there is to sit inside. Totally recommend. read more

I would avoid this spot on West Portal like a tariff for many reasons. The service is incredibly slow, and the prices are outrageous in this economy. The selection is limited, and healthy options are few and far between. The owner is very rude and not someone deserving of your hard-earned money. I just had a frustrating experience here that left a bad taste. I was in line behind another party, but we were helped by two different employees at two separate registers. I knew exactly what I wanted and ordered the last cinnamon roll donut. Simple enough. But the party in front of me, who was still deciding what to get, then ordered the same item after I did. At that point, my employee let the other employee (glasses, black hair in a bun with bangs wearing a tan/brown sweater at 11:35am on 4/3/25) know it had already been sold -- which should've been the end of it. But instead, the other employee insisted the cinnamon roll should go to the party ahead of me because they "were first in line," even though they clearly ordered it after me. How does that make sense? If you go to Starbucks and two registers are open, and someone takes five minutes to decide while you already order your pastry. The pastry, that happened to be the last one, doesn't get handed to them just because they stepped in the door earlier even though the ordered after. If this is truly how they operate, it's a completely flawed system. And if it's not, then you have to wonder if something else influenced their decision -- some kind of bias or privilege at play. Either way, the experience was disappointing, and the process makes no sense at all. Why even have two registers if the order timing doesn't matter? I do not care that much over a donut but it is principle and the poor thought process from that employee that is irritating and quite backwards. I won't be coming back if this is how they treat customers and if this is truly their "system" cause it simply is not very logical. read more

The donuts were definitely tourist prices but they were large so it's not unreasonable to split in two and take half home. The line wasn't too long when I visited and there was an open seat for me once I'd ordered. They were ready right after I sat down. When I got to my seat, someone got me water and silverware / napkins as I'd missed them at the pickup area. When I was done, a few seconds later they came and cleared my plate. I was floored. Incredible service, but then again I did come when they were medium busy. The decor and vibes were great. The person said yes, so I took it and left, and when I got home I found out half my order was missing. What an amazing concept! This is a great addition to the San Francisco food scene and a fantastic neighborhood gem for West Portal. We ordered the Ham and Brie sandwich, which was heavenly. The baguette was crispy, the brie super creamy and the added touch of french butter was a real surprise and delight. We also had the Harvest Chicken Salad and when I tell you I will be back for this salad, I mean it. The thick-cut bacon was cooked perfectly, salad dressed just right and the chicken was really juicy. Pairing our meal with a glass of champagne made for such a delightful afternoon. If you are coming here strictly for donuts, make sure to come a little early as they are so popular and can sell out quickly. They open at 9:00am. read more
