I ordered brekkie from Uncle Benny's on Uber Eats after discovering it on Beli and being recommended it by a friend. I was tempted at first to get a banh mi but opted instead to order their namesake items, and I'm ultimately glad I did because I think they're a more accurate representation of their offerings. I got a loaded veggie bagel without cream cheese, as I wanted to add my own Kite Hill dairy free cream cheese, and a "cinnamon roll". The reason for the quotes around cinnamon roll is vector ended up being a doughnut shaped like a cinnamon roll topped with glaze and crumbles. The bagel was great! I received a toasted sesame bagel, which was a surprise because there was not an option to select type on Uber Eats. I love sesame so was quite satisfied. The bagel was stuffed to the brim with veggies, so it was a fantastic way to smash in some healthy produce to start my day. The cinnamon roll doughnut, however, was too sweet, and I'm really not a doughnut person. Like I would probably never go out of my way for one. It was so big I couldn't finish it and ended up composting the rest. I'm glad I tried it to fairly assess the place but wouldn't get again and honestly only added it to my cart to meet the minimum Uber Eats delivery spend to avoid higher fees. read more

I usually pass by this shop on my way to work so I figured today would be a good day to try their sandwiches n boy it did not disappoint! FOOD: I ordered the bacon, sausage and cheese sandwich on an asiago bagel and added the garlic and herb cream cheese. Best. Combo. Ever! It definitely hit the spot. Total came out to $14 since I added the cream cheese + had it on an asiago bagel SERVICE: Very quick! I feel like it helped that there weren't a lot of people there around 8am on a Tuesday morning too. All the employees were super friendly, gave off a comfy vibe :) PARKING: Parking can be difficult depending on the time of day you come visit the shop. I went at 8am and it wasn't hard at all. I was happily surprised to find Uncle Benny's open at 4 am and I arrived not long after. Good energy in the shop, the employees wide awake, friendly, and jamming to music. The donut case was already fully stocked and everything looked delicious. The coffee was good, as was the fritter, and both caffeine and sugar were restorative. They have different types of coffee for those who prefer theirs milder or bolder. The apple fritter was genuinely perfection -- clean taste, plenty of apple, and lots of crispy melt-in-your-mouth bits. I go to OB 5 days a week and Uncle Benny's is the perfect go to for delicious breakfast, lunch or a donut and coffee (tea's are fabulous too). I got their chicken sandwich on a jalapeño cheddar bagel and dang did they pack it all and didn't hold back. We also got a maple donut and a blueberry filled glazed donut. The blueberry bagel donut was so good, typically they're sour but the blueberries were so sweet and fresh. I go back regularly for those. What I love about this place is how friendly everyone is here. When we go, seems like all the employees have regular customers. They do a great job making it feel like home. 4 1/2 stars! Walking into Uncle Benny's for the first time made quite the impression - all good. The place was lively early on a weekday morning with a table of "old timers" holding court with coffee and breakfast, a line of all kinds of folks lined up to the door and at other tables, a number groups walking away with big pink boxes of doughnuts, and super nice people working the counter in an orchestrated frenzy. The smell of coffee and doughnuts were perfect on a rainy morning. And there were more than enough options for doughnuts, bagel sandwiches, and more. The chocolate covered doughnut I went for was about as good as it gets - not too airy/fluffy, with just the right amount of "heft" and richness. The bagel with lox was also really good, as was the coffee. I'll definitely be back for breakfast or lunch. The only (minor) suggestion - not sure where the bagels come from. They were fine, but would have been even better with something comparable to Boichik, Wise Sons, etc. read more

I often have to drive from SFO to Marin in the early morning and it's great to have Uncle Benny's on the way, open EARLY, when nothing else is. Great selection of drinks and tasty,large selection of bagels AND excellent donuts -- oh, and their crullers, in various flavors, are to die for. Very light, slightly eggy, you bite into a sweet fluffy cloud of goodness. And the main gal behind the counter, always over the top friendly (in a good way!). Their glaze donut tasted fresh and I loved how it wasn't a dense donut. I also tried their Vietnamese iced coffee and pork banh mi. The coffee was delicious since I love Vietnamese iced coffee! I purchased a donut this morning for $2.50. The cashier placed it in a small white bag. As soon as I paid and turned around and took two steps, the donut came flying out of the bag and landed on the floor. I gave the donut to the cashier and told her what happened. She said "you have to buy another donut and pay for it." I was shocked that they would not replace a donut. It doesn't cost them anything for customer good will. Disappointing. Maybe we didn't order the right things, but how is this place reviewed so highly? We ordered $20 worth of goods. The donuts were alright. I'm not sure what the hype was. Perhaps it's also because I had a Krispy Kreme donut not too long ago that was fresh off the line and just baked. The black coffee here I don't recommend. They said they just made it within the past hour but wow did it taste burnt. It also stays remarkably hot for over an hour (with the lid off). Overall, this place is cash only unless you spend $5 I believe. The ambiance of this place is chill and people seem to just enjoy hanging out here. There's also remixes of songs playing over the TV.
