It was the last one in the jar so my hopes were not high. The photo does not do it justice!! Crisp on the outside and chewy in the center and not too sweet. It was delicious! It makes the top 5 list of best cookies in the sunset which I am always adjusting based on experience. There's seating inside and they offer cucumber infused water which is a nice touch. Solid lox bagel on a good chewy bagel. Not sure I would call it a whole lotta lox, however. Maybe a medium to small amount of lox with a lot of tomato and cucumber is better description. Everyone once in awhile you wan to grab a quick coffee or sandwich place and this the one to come to on Taraval as they have a few seats to relax and have your food and drink and off you go ‍ or just take out like most people head off to your journey. One time I bought a sandwich for the ballgame and it was yummy. Recently I decided to eat in since it has a such a warm and cheerful art decor. Since morning I decide to get the egg and cheese bagel on a cheese bagel. yes I am obsessed with cheese! lol My friend has the toasted chunky peanut butter bannna toast. Both made a nice mid morning snack. :) This staple cafe is right in a great location, next door to police station, the McChoppin park with the Parkside library is a good location where you can walk around the Parkside neighborhood and if you get hungry again, there's plenty of other snacks and restaurants to eat around here. We used to go to El Café all the time when my niece had classes in the area. Today, I wanted a simple, comfy Tuna Melt sandwich (not the heavy ones from restaurants with salad and fries). El Café delivered! Easy to customize in notes. The rest of the items we ordered (Mexican mocha, cream cheese bagel, horchata latte, and lemon poppy cake) were equally delicious. Excellent service! Love this spot - it's where I usually hang after dropping my kiddo off at daycare and need to take some meetings. Service there is top notch and is very fair. There's a nice mix of drinks and food to grab, and wifi is free and fast. I usually go with the café de ola and am never disappointed. read more

Love, love, love this place. This is exactly the kind of cafe that I wish was in my neighborhood. I would frequent it so often they'd know me by name. Cute little spot. Perfect for a small meal, a snack, a coffee, a smoothie, or all of the above. They have a fantastic selection of sandwiches, bagels, pastries, and of course, coffee. I'm not a vegetarian but they have quite a few vegetarian options to choose from and all sounded spectacular. The lady helping us was so sweet and very helpful. Boyfriend and I both ordered the El Sunset. Mine on an onion bagel. It had turkey, bacon, pesto, tomato, spinach, and provolone cheese. It was yummy! I also had a vanilla latte and baby daddy had a cortado. Coffee was excellent! Nice and hot and clearly made with love. Little guy had a chocolate chip cookie with milk and everyone left happy. After a few minutes browsing through the menu, we decided to order the parkside panini ($9.95), strawberry smoothie ($5.75), and iced mocha ($4.65). The panini was pretty good. It was very cheesy and toasted nicely as well. The strawberry smoothie was probably my favorite. The consistency was not too thick which made it easy to drink. I usually dislike sweetness in my savory dishes but this was very good. They had my attention at "Chagaccino". And yes, it is Chaga and Capuccino and is absolutely divine. They offer pastries and lunch, but I have only had the coffee and a GF Bagel, which I totally appreciate. It is slightly challenging to find any Gluten Free options in this town. They forgot my chickpea wrap and I waited watching my friend eat while starving and we had to ask them and I guess she didn't add it to the order so I waited... watching my friend eat until they finally brought it. And when o I finally got it was super sweet and inedible. The bagel was good but nothing special. The cappuccino was good. The food and drinks were overpriced and they put normal milk in my coffee and I had to pay for another with almond milk after drinking most of it and made me feel sick. But the chagaccino was very god. Even the cookie we took just tasted like nuts. Overall hugely disappointed, I wouldn't recommend going here. read more
