Cinnamon sugar old fashioned (left) and chocolate hazelnut old fashioned (right)
Alex M.

After finishing up brunch nearby, my friend and I headed over to Magic Donuts & Coffee for a sweet treat. Unsurprisingly, the offerings at 2 PM were quite slim - the only flavors left were chocolate hazelnut and cinnamon sugar old fashioned. Fortunately, old fashioned are my favorite types of donuts, so my friend and I ordered one of each to share. It was a nice day, so we sat at one of the tables outside, which is nestled between apartment buildings, so it's shielded from the street. I have to say I wasn't a fan of the chocolate hazelnut donut. While the texture of the old fashioned donut was spot-on - slightly crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside - the chocolate hazelnut flavor had almost a burnt flavor. The cinnamon sugar donut, on the other hand, was more my cup of tea. It tasted like a churro but with the denser texture of an old-fashioned donut. I'd be curious to try the other donut flavors, so I'll have to swing by earlier in the day the next time I'm in the neighborhood.

Drove by Magic Donuts and Coffee and immediately turned around because of how cute the store looked. I had the maple pecan donut and a cappuccino. The donut was amazing. I don't usually order cream filled donuts but it sounded to intriguing. So happy I ordered it because it was a delicious yeast donut with a thick maple pecan cream center. The cream wasn't overwhelming and reminded me of a Chinese pastry because it was so well balanced without being overwhelming or too sweet. The staff was nice and patient with me as I took too long to make a decision. I appreciate that.

Best doughnuts around! Expensive but you get what you pay for and then some. Can't recommend this place enough and I love their packaging and care with each doughnut.

Very bougie donuts. Staff is super nice and accommodating and the display/space is clean and inviting. Not sure it's worth paying over $5 a donut but it's a nice treat every once and while when you're craving something a bit upscale or seasonal. Their coffee serving size is tiny though

I am so disappointed in how a donut shop can have such bad coffee. I'm beyond traumatized from the cup of "coffee" mind you about $5.46 for a small. The employee there filled it to the very very brim of the cup without asking if I want room for cream or milk. The taste was bad, like someone added hot water on top of whatever was brewed. The donuts are fine, but if you're a true coffee drinker or have working taste buds would highly recommend to AVOID the coffee.

Easy fast service after eating brunch next door! Good: - Lots of fun flavors - we got the blueberry, the lemon meringue and the glazed - Pretty sweet donuts, but weren't overwhelming - No line! - Beautiful interior Bad: - Not much seating indoors for a group Overall this was a nice experience and the outdoor seating was perfect for our group of 4!

Glazed, dark chocolate sea salt old fashioned, candy cap old fashioned

Arrived at 12:15pm on a Saturday and they were already sold out of everything except the old fashioneds, glazed, and milk chocolate glazed. Plan to get there EARLY if you want to get the fancy flavors. I got: - glazed (chewy, kind of like an old croissant or choux pastry. I'm glad I tried it, but I wouldn't get it again. There's no noticeable sourdough tang or anything) - dark chocolate sea salt old fashioned (chockate layer was too thick for me, though the flavor was nice. You can tell it's a good chocolate, but overall I wish it was 10% sweeter. Good texture though) - candy cap old fashioned (this one was too sweet, but the flavor was otherwise good. Very similar to maple, if you haven't had candy caps before) I was pleasantly surprised by the texture of the old fashioneds, since they're usually dry and not my go-to doughnut. These were nice and moist/cakey. I think this place is generally overhyped, especially at that price point. If I'm in the area, I'll try to return just to try the blueberry lime.

My husband was in SF for work for the day and picked up some treats per my request. ;) These donuts taste amazing! They have the perfect dough texture in my opinion. Not dry at all, soft and fresh with a little chewy squish when you bite. The first one I had was my favorite.... It has a fluffy marshmallow and a tart lemon cream inside. 10/10 recommend everyone go and pick up one of these. Perfection found in a donut. My day is complete. The rest were also delicious. I will be returning for more Magic next time I find myself in the city.

Great donuts! Coffee is just average and their matcha is not very good (tastes extremely sweetened and not like matcha at all) especially if you're used to the strong traditional matcha flavors

This is the best donut shop I've ever been to!! The balance between the dough and sweetness is unmatched. I never understood the hype around donuts until I tried MAGIC. Their glazed donuts are simple yet incredible. And if you've ever had mandazi from Arusha, you need to try these donuts. The shop is small and adorable, with outdoor seating and a welcoming vibe. The service is great, very presentable, and everything looks clean and well maintained. Someone told me this place was Michelin-rated, I never found actual proof, but honestly, they taste like they should be. ALSOO don't miss out on their coffee!!!

Good donuts that are absolutely aesthetically stunning. Probably a 4 star on taste, but rounding down to a 3 because it's very expensive and I wouldn't say this is better than Bob's donuts. Good to go if you have unlimited money and or interested in unique flavors

Cute doughnut shop with festive flavors. I got the campfire which is like s'mores, the key lime pie, and a glaze for comparison. Overall, I would say that donuts have a good texture. The dough is nice and soft! My favorite was definitely the campfire because I like chocolate ganache. Key lime pie one was a little too sweet for me since there was a lot of merengue vs key lime curd ratio. Glaze was just ok. Would try their other flavors!

Caly T.

Cute donut shop, love the interior and their logo designs. The sourdough donuts themselves were unique: a thick bread-like texture but a good balance of airy and not too dense. That said i do wish the glaze were a bit thicker to compensate for the increased ratio of donut dough - it could be a bit sweeter. The blueberry lime flavor was good, more acidic than sweet. I did not prefer the marshmallow on the campfire donut but liked the dark chocolate glaze. Appreciated all the creative flavor variety and will be back to try more!

So we got an extra drink for free. Trying the iced latte, it was pretty disappointing lol. I thought it would be similar to like a Hawaiian style latte with macadamia milk, but it was a lot lighter than I thought. It was definitely very nutty, but it also just tasted like water down latte. Honestly not much going on with the drink, but it does taste lighter in general. Crazy have to pay $1.50 more to add on this milk. Overall, its alright. I do like the natural lighting coming into the shop, but nothing too special.

Upon entering the coffee shop, you'll see a good amount of seating, but for the times we have gone, the majority of the seats are taken. But Katsu is really becoming the new hype of the day for Japanese food, following the Sushi, Ramen, Japanese Curry, Katsu trend. So I came in with a critical view. I feel like Yoshoku in general may be next but I yet again digress. The box sandwich came in a cute little box. The inside was packed so I couldn't get a chance to fully appreciate the cafe, but the service was nice though the pay line may have moved slower than hoped. I'll say this. This is "the" best katsu sando in the bay. The katsu is crispy, but little on the softer side. But this hardness matches perfectly with the absolutely tender, soft, juicy pork wrapped inside. I'm looking at the menu again and it all makes sense. The pork has been in shio koji, making the meat ever so tender while adding the subtle but complicated marinated flavor. The cabbage is plenty, but not over packed to take away from the main Katsu flavor. What really perfects it for me, was not only the sweet and savory katsu sauce, but the mayo with dash of I think a karashi mustard. That slight tingle, the perfect kick gives a powerful awakening of flavor that really sets the it apart. This is art, an artisan. Culinary art is the refuge no raging rampant AI slop "art" can ever hope to touch. Until the day we get some cyborg implant to our brain into gustatory, olfactory functions. Even then, I don't think any tasteless tech bro are hopeless to create anything unique or beautiful.
