I live nearby so I come here from time to time. I ordered the Eggs Benedict as usual. When the dish arrived, I realized that the hollandaise sauce was off. Upon further inspection it seems that the egg in the sauce had curdled (butter was too hot when mixing with egg), and the sauce was missing tanginess (perhaps lack of lemon juice). So the hollandaise sauce tasted like bland egg foam/cream. When I raised this with the server, she checked back with the kitchen but all they said was - "it will take another 10 minutes to make. Do you want a different dish?" On the sauce, they only said they make it based on a recipe. No apologies, no information on whether they could fix it the second time around. I ended up just ordering a side of hash brown because I was no longer in a mood to enjoy a full meal. Disappointed, I know in the past they made proper Benedict. Not anymore. read more

This seems like the popular place in Kirkland. I had a pretty decent chicken gyro and lemon chicken rice soup. You get a lot of gyro for what you pay for, and I thought the tzazaki sauce was pretty good. I stopped in here today for my annual disappointment. I like to try them out once a year because I dig the Eggs karkinarkarrari (ya, i don't know how to spell it). The food is consistently good. The service is consistently horrid. I would say the food and location justify the couple bucks more you pay per plate. I don't blame the staff, I blame the inept management. They clearly don't care about their user reviews as its noted over and over and over again. They had one person on staff this morning to serve, bus, and seat people. I had the best breakfast there this past weekend! I got the farmhouse omelet with a side of toast and tomato. Perfection! I also stole some tzatziki sauce from my sister and slathered it on my breakfast and it was the perfect addition. I even gave a little to her daughter who then made the best what is this i love it face...she is 5 months and likes her food! I have been going here, at least once a week for the past few months. I always have the same type of thing, breakfast. And damn is it good. I know it is a Greek restaurant but it has some of the best breakfasts around and no matter the time of day I go, I always get breakfast. I get either the Bacon and Eggs or Ham and Eggs with choice of Hash-browns or fruit, and your choice of various types of toast. I never get tired of it. In fact, if you head there around lunch time during the week, there is a good chance you will see me enjoying a delicious breakfast with some of my co-workers. Also, they just remodeled the place with new paint, booths and TVs. Looks very nice now and they always have sports playing on the TVs. This place has the feel of a family restaurant, ... in fact, if you sit at the bar you can see George himself cooking up your tasty meal. Other people I have gone with have liked the Greek food as well. You get good food at good prices. What more could you ask for? It's like a Greek version of Shari's or Denny's, but more comfortable, better food, and better service. If you are ever in the neighborhood, you should definitely head by George's Place. read more

I would LOVE to give this place a higher rating, but the truly awful service prevents me from even enjoying the food. My boyfriend and I have been here twice. I am always on the search for great eggs benedict and came here to try the eggs karkinagri. Well it lived up to its reviews. I LOVE the eggs karkinagri, it's probably my favorite version of eggs benedict that i've ever tasted. Gyro meat, poached eggs, tsatziki hollandaise, toasty biscuits... yummmm. This dish is the only reason we've come here twice. But it's going to be hard to convince the boyfriend to return to George's after two horrible experiences in a row. This place has the worst service I've ever received at any restaurant in my entire life. And that's saying quite a lot. I wish they'd just make it self-service. Both visits we had to wait forever for a server to even acknowledge us. Drinks never get refilled unless you're fortunate enough to get someone's attention. The most that happens is that someone takes your order and someone brings you your food. And even that takes FOREVER. It's not like we went during busy times either, so I have no idea what's going on with their staff. The girl who fills the water was basically walking around with a pitcher of water in a daze, without really filling anyone's water. I don't understand how a restaurant could possibly have such bad service. The first visit, my bf's c omelet was missing the first listed ingredient from the menu - gyro meat. I kept trying to get him to send it back, but he didn't want to wait another half hour for his food. The second visit, his food came out correctly, but it still wasn't very good. He describes it as a bunch of chopped up ingredients wrapped in dry egg. It's pretty small too. This time, we had to wait until after we both finished eating for him to receive his toast after asking about it twice. the village om is pretty darn good. I don't usually like omelets 'coz i like dipping my toast in soft gooey yolk but i had that yesterday so i wanted something different. lots of freshly cut zuchinni, tomatoes, onions, sausages.... just filled! Tasty. definitely an above average omelet. I would have given it four stars - yes based on one visit and on one dish if not for the slow service and place being very under-staffed. i know this isn't the first sunday they're serving breakfast so they should know it'll be crowded on a sunday morning at about 11am. there were at least four open tables - yes, cleaned with silverware - but they couldn't even serve the food fast enough, never mind seat people; there was a bloody line outside!!! ridiculous! so i would totally go back 'coz the food is good... but i just wished they would do something about the service... Went here for lunch and I got a cheeseburger. The burger was ok, the bun was dry and crunchy, their were pickles stuck to the bottom of the burger, big chunky Spanish onion on top of my burger and hardly any cheese. Over all the onion overtook the taste of anything on the burger so I only got a mouthful of onion. The chips were very salty but I got a good portion of them. But for the price it was good. It was a beautiful Sunday morning in Kirkland and the family and I wanted to go for breakfast. I thought I had heard something about George's place in downtown Kirkland. I thought they only had lunch and dinner, but once again I was wrong. Breakfast indeed they did have. We rolled on down the hill and was very surprised to see people lined up out of the door and waiting around outside. No appetizers or hot coffee like the place up the street but why not wait and see what the food is like. Once seated the waitress came to visit and dropped off our menus and asked if we wanted coffee and off she went. A while later once they found out who was really supposed to bring us the coffee, the coffee arrived and she took our order. Myself the Olympic Omelet sounded terrific. How could you lose with Gyro meat, pepperoncinis, Kalmata olives and Feta cheese. When the order came WOW. The omelet was fantastic, the hash browns were done the way hash browns were supposed to be crispy on the outside and moist and fluffy on the inside. The rest of the family enjoyed their food also and it seemed like everyone else was also enjoying their meals also. I'm not going to say "don't go here," but I am going to say I'm probably not coming back. The food was good but I wasn't moved enough to override the bad waitress experience I had. We had a bit of a wait before being seated but it was faster than we expected. The hostess was pleasant and on her game. The gal who took our drink orders was pleasant and quick to return with drinks. Our waitress, Roselle, I think, was snooty and acted like we were the most annoying customers to enter that restaurant all day. I'd like to say that I'm very polite, patient, and friendly. I like to make sure the wait staff knows I do not intend on being in any way difficult or unpleasant. I ordered my eggs benedict hard poached and my boyfriend had the Olympic omelet. Go there for happy hour (4-7:30 pm). My friend and I went there on a Saturday night around 5:30, and the place was not yet busy. That was a great sign. Also, the appetizers are half off, but their appetizers are like entrees! My friend and I split the fries and ordered the gyro plate. The fries were served on a huge plate, on top of some green lettuce and sprinkled with a LOT of feta cheese. I had the shake the feta off! The gyros were good, but they don't substitute the beef&lamb meat for anything else. I asked for chicken instead, but no go. Weirdly, the food came in a way that we had to put the gyro together ourselves. This was not the case with the Continental on the Ave in the University District, where they had the gyros all made up. Maybe that's why they were half off during happy hour? The chefs probably got a little too happy not having to put the gyro together. The waiter service was sub-par. For one, the waiter assumed that my friend and I were 21. Second, the professionalism was not top notch. We had to go up to the register to pay because he didn't come give us our checks. Granted, my friend and I got a while to talk, but we would've liked to get our checks first. Finally, the waiter's humor didn't quite hit us punctually because when we asked him to split the bill down the middle, he said, "The total is $16, so $8 a piece. The fast -foodie fusion of American and Greek is a great idea, thumbs up for the eclectic selection. So even if it is good old omelet, get set for a Mediterranean twist. I've been here twice and have been underwhelmed both times - once for weekend brunch, another time for dinner. Brunch It was jam-packed on a weekend around noon! Got a booth without too much waiting, but once we sat down it took forever to place our order. As in, we were starving but thought about walking out and starting over somewhere else. You can't change omelets to scrambles on weekends, just a warning. My omelet was ok, my boyfriend didn't think much of the biscuits and gravy (but then again, he's used to southern, which is apparently a whole different ballgame). Went to Georges place for breakfast. The place was fairly busy, but not overwhelmed like some Sundays. We got seated immediately. The first time I came here it was a pizza place, but over the years it has (de)evolved to breakfast and Grinders. I had the Corinthian Omelet, with Gyro meat, tomato, green pepper, feta and Tzatziki sauce; hash browns and the whole wheat toast. It was tasty, but could have used a bit more feta. The hash browns were crispy on the outside and still semi juicy in the middle. The whole wheat toast was fancier whole wheat with sunflower seeds embedded in it. My wife had the Strawberry Plate with a waffle, whipped cream, 2 eggs and bacon. The bacon was tasty (I sampled that!) The strawberries while not fresh, I was told they were passable. Our waiter was attentive and fast, considering how busy they were. Although, an impatient guy (who came in after us) came up to him when he was starting to take our order and said some unkind words about having sat there a bit without his order being taken. We were watching our waiter and thought he was moving really fast. They get 4 stars for the food and service. Even though our waiter didn't mmanhandle our foods, like his coworkers did their orders. One young woman kept poking the stuff on the plates and using her bear hands on the toast. It looks like it is time for an informational visit from the Health Department on use of gloves with ready to eat foods. Gabby, Gabby, Gabby!! Gabby is the best server by far at Georges, you're in for treat if you're fortunate enough to be waited on by her. So, for some reason both my girlfriend and I dreamt about pancakes the night before and with George's is fast becoming my favorite Saturday morning breakfast spot, we came in and sat right down (no waiting for a table) at the breakfast bar in the main dining area. I love sitting there, it reminds me of the kitchen table at Bepo's because it's noisy, full of life and colorful characters. This time around I didn't go with pancakes and instead got the Karkinagri eggs benedict. OMG, awesome! Our server was Sanna, nothing outstanding about her- she didn't even check on us once after we got fed. Gabby on the otherhand did, even though she didn't have to. I noticed that when some customers sitting at tables were waiting a long time she was calling out to her coworkers to be sure they got to them ASAP. For some reason, there aren't a lot of breakfast choices in Kirkland. There's the Original Pancake House... and George's (and Blu Water on the weekends). Some people have complained about the remodel, but I actually like it. I certainly appreciated the run-down, quaintness of the old George's, but the new George's is a heck of a lot more comfortable (except the old, dilapidated booths they left on the west side). Most of the grumpy greek waitresses are still there, too. Since the remodel, George's is now open pretty late; however, I've never actually been in for anything other than breakfast. Many of their breakfast plates are greek-inspired (like my favorite, the gyro-style Corinthian Omelette). The food here is amazing but the service is slow. Been here a few times. Prices really went up and the menus don't make sense. Why does a cup of soup cost the exact same as a bowl of soup? I remember the first thing I got here was a soup/salad combo for $8.95 and my boyfriend wanted a side of salad with his gyro omelet and they charged him $7.95 for a salad. But now they don't even have a soup/salad combo anymore unless your a senior and order form the senior section. The last server we had didn't speak any English at all. All I remember was... server "dinner, you dinner?" us "no we want breakfast" server "dinner menu?" us "no were ordering breakfast" server "coffee?" us "yes well have 2 coffees" then she walks off and never came back with our coffees and we just sat for a while until we flagged down another person who took our order. But OMG!!!! the food is soo good!!! Its soo good that I almost forgot about the poor service. My boyfriend and his family has been going there for the past 17 years and doesn't understand why they would put in a new bar but not replace those crappy broken red booth seats. This a great little greek diner. I went by for breakfast while I was visiting Kirkland. I sat at the counter which, as expected, got me great service. I had the Olympic Omelet. I had my doubts at first about an omelet with gyro meat, but boy it was delicious. Lots of veggies and olives combined with the tzatziki sauce to make a great start to the day. George's stands out as a modern and upscale restaurant in the Kirkland waterfront neighborhood. The pictures don't do it justice. Walked into a comfortable waiting area, and were greeted by a very friendly and attentive host. We went for lunch on a Saturday and the place was full! We were seated by the windows looking out toward a balcony across the street, lots of pedestrian friendly benches, trash and recycling bins (signs of a clean and conscientious neighborhood to me). Great variety on the menu, reasonable prices, good descriptions. Our server was attentive and friendly; knew the menu. We never had to wait for refills or to make additions to our order (a Bloody Mary after we already ordered our meals). Food came out in a reasonable amount of time, especially considering how busy the place was. We ordered: the kids' grilled cheese: looked good, lots of fries, $5.99 Strawberry Belgium waffle: waffle was a little smaller/thinner than I had hoped, but taste was above average; had a hint of nutmeg or pumpkin spices? Strawberries were fresh. Delicious. $9.99 Western omelette: large and packed full of goods; crispy hash browns and toast. $13.99 We shared the short stack pancakes, as we are always trying to find places who make them well. George's serves theirs a little on the thin side BUT they weren't rubbery and had a nice sweet/salty balance. $5.99 We will be going back again and again to try the rest of the menu. Went here this weekend for some "greek" food. It wasn't bad necessarily but what I had in mind when I was told this place was a good greek place was different than what I got. Really, its kind of like a diner with some greek flare. They have lots of breakfast items along with some gyro sandwiches. No falafel. No Schwarma. No Hummus. No Spanakopita, etc. I had the Greek Pita, which was a gyro sandwich plus some peppers, and kalamata olives. It was pretty good, but kind of reminded me of Americanized greek rather than anything authentic. The service was really bad actually which swayed my decision lower. We waited 15-20 minutes to be seated. Once we were seated we waited another 15 minutes for our waters. Then about another 20 minutes just to have our orders taken. They were really understaffed it seemed. So.... 2-star might be a bit harsh... but the rating fits. "Meg, I've experienced better." read more

I've been here in the past, and while the food is delicious, the service is continuously abysmal. I went here on a Wednesday morning with my boyfriend at around 8:00am. It wasn't dead, but it certainly wasn't busy. The waitress gives us a table, and we sit around. And wait. And wait some more. It's been 15 minutes, and we haven't even been asked what we wanted to drink. No water, no coffee, nothing. The people around us have certainly received their beverages and food, but the waitress has paid zero attention to us. I try to like this place, seriously I do. Because I love good breakfast food just like the rest of 'em, but for some reason this place just doesn't "do it for me" (as the kids say these days). Maybe because when I walk in it's breakfast time, but by the time the food actually arrives it's closer to dinner? Catch my drift? I think someone's poor grandma is in the kitchen flipping omelets all by her lonesome because you will not receive your plate in under 30 minutes. You might not get your check after 90 minutes. Your server will walk past your table maybe three times without checking on you or refilling your beverage and may not even smile at you (do I always get the same waiter?). Anywho, it's greasy, some item menus are better than others, I'd stick to the vegetarian choices, as they seem to be the least displeasing. read more

The food was amazing.... once we finally received it! The service was friendly but soooooooooo sloooooooooow. I'm glad that the friend I was there with and I had a lot to talk about! That being said, I'm so going back, because the FOOD was just excellent! I had the vegetarian omelette. Whoever made this omelette definitely knew what they were doing. SO impressed with the service (and food!) at this place! Went for the first time with my husband today, and he ordered a half of a sandwich (such a huge portion!), and I ordered a half order of French toast. The food was incredible, and our server Jackie went above and beyond for us. We will be back again for sure, and can't wait to try more things on the menu!
