A dishonest restaurant when it comes to pick up orders. Taking shortcuts and giving completely different items than ordered because one is not sitting in person is pretty horrible character. The quality of what both my friend and I ordered were also not good also as you can probably assume by pictures but the ethnical standards are unfortunately even more shocking. Mind you i tipped when i got there even when the front desk was extremely unfriendly and unwelcoming. Then to find out they switched out the components of the dish to make it incorrectly as long as it was more convenient or cost efficient for them was just so sad. It's like ordering a porter and coming home and finding the restaurant gave u a chopped steak and then proceeds to ignore inquires from your ordering company to continue to help themselves.... My date and I decided to come here since this is around my area. Italian is his favorite so I let him pick. We stumbled upon this spot & although the food isn't the best, the service makes up for it. Once we entered, the server greeted us right away. I'm not sure what her name was, but she was a sweetheart. Making sure our drinks were filled and we never ran out of complimentary garlic breads. The clientele seems to be on the older side and it looks like they've been regulars for a long time. We were the youngest people there and mind you we ain't spring chickens ourselves. But I'm happy to see George's has a lot of loyal customers. While the portions are huge and more than enough to take home, the prices are a bit steep for my liking & it doesn't match the quality either. The food is decent but not worth 25-30 dollars with those dishes. My date ordered the chicken Parmesan with pasta and I got my basic spaghetti with extra meat sauce. Both dishes were generous especially mine. They were not playing around on my dish. It was so much meat sauce that you couldn't even see any pasta. I thought his chicken Parmesan and my spaghetti was very strong in the tomato sauce department maybe a little too much. I like mine to have other seasonings to balance the acidity from the tomato sauce. Overall it was not a bad meal, it was so much food I had enough for lunch the next morning. The free garlic bread came out hot and fresh, fluffy on the inside and flaky on the outside. The service is warm and welcoming & even the owner came by to check in on us. Will I come back? What's remarkable about George's is their consistency. The best Italian food ever? A stretch. But it is darn good. And you can always count on a good meal backed by good service at a fair price. Our group of 8 went with various dishes. My wife and I shared a Greek Salad (I gladly gave her my anchovies) and spaghetti with turkey meatballs. Toss some grilled shrimp on that salad and I'd have been more than satisfied. But I've always wondered why Italian restaurants serve Greek salads. Do Greek restaurants serve antipasti? But I digress. The pasta was el dente and well drained. The turkey meatballs were large and flavorful. The marinara, to me, is a bit bland. I prefer more zing. Nothing some red pepper flakes couldn't fix. Some folks can't take the heat, so it makes sense for George's to play it safe. I also appreciated George's not applying fees to "plot" dishes. Came here for a weekday lunch with coworkers near the office. We came shortly after 11am and while we were the first table to be seated, the place started filling up quickly and got busy with other Energy Corridor workers out for lunch. I ordered the House Salad and Sandwich combo. For my sandwich, I got the Chicken Parmesan sandwich. Chicken parm is one of my go-tos for Italian food, and I was excited to see this in sandwich form, an easy lunch option. They also have a Daily Soup and Sandwich combo, as well as a Greek Salad and Sandwich combo. My coworker got the soup & sandwich - the soup of the day was gumbo, which I found interesting for an Italian restaurant. I The House Salad was decent. A standard salad with lettuce, cherry tomatoes, red onions, carrots, celery, and cheese, drizzled in their creamy house dressing. It came out well before the sandwich - I was hoping it would be served alongside the sandwich as a side, but we ended up finishing our salads before the sandwich came out, leaving the sandwich to be eaten alone. The Chicken Parmesan sandwich was good. Bread was the same bread that was sliced and served earlier before the soup and salads came out. While crispy, I think it was a little too crunchy and easily fell apart in many crumbs with each bite. I eventually gave up and decided to eat my sandwich with fork and knife. The chicken parm filling was tasty. Rather than a full chicken parm cutlet, they sliced a cutlet up into pieces, lined the sandwich interior with it, and topped it with marinara sauce and mozzarella cheese. Service was attentive throughout our visit. Various staff came by to check on us and kept our waters full, and the overall vibe was very homey. Go here if you're looking for a homestyle, no-frills Italian joint. Prices are a little on the steep side: our salad & sandwich combo was about $15. The other lunch special items averaged $15-20, which is a bit pricey for lunch. You can imagine where that puts the pricing for the dinner menu. While I know there are plenty other options for Italian around Houston, I'll be adding this one to the lunch rotation for something simple and quick on lunch break. read more

A little disappointed with all the positive reviews we read. Service was extremely lacking, I think 3-4 people came up to our table but didn't know if we had ordered or if our food was ready. Our food took an extremely long time to come out, and this was maybe 6-7pm. Price wise it's Italian so A little pricey. The pastas were hot which is why this is 3/5. We were served pretty stale bread. Seems like they only cater to the older clientele and don't care about any other customers there. Sad. read more

Terrible attitude paired with less-than-mediocre food. They catered our alumni event and served portions so skimpy they were laughable - less than half a serving spoon. I had to ask the woman running the event (who seemed to be the owner) three separate times just to get pasta, and what I finally got was literally a few shells. No exaggeration. The guy (owner?) bagged up my friends food for her, and didn't bother to bring a bag or put my food in the container. Unprofessional. It started out a less than positive experience as a first time customer. He brought me the wrong item. I ordered cheese ravioli at $11.98ish, and he brought meat raviolI. Given I'd never eaten there I thought I couldn't taste the cheese, so when he came to check our table I pleasantly asked if this was cheese ravioli? He said no, he brought the wrong item. I laughed and hadn't any rudeness on my end. He then brought me the item I ordered which was much better than the scantily filled meat ravioli. I had no idea if the incorrect item had cheese in it or what else it consisted of bc again, I'd never eaten there. I just knew it didn't seem cheesy. Happy with his decision to bring me the correct dish. He did so with a smile. No apology, but a smile. After we finished eating, he then brought me the bill for the meat ravioli which was totaled at $14 something. I said no, I ordered the cheese at $11 something. He said snippily, well you got two dishes. It was HIS error not mine. Who says rude things like that to a pleasant new customer? He then adjusted my bill to my order price. I paid an 18% tip which really should have been 10% for rudeness. He then had the nerve to bring me the menu after I'd paid and accusatorially say your dish was really $14 or $15 something while pointing to some other cheese dish. I said no, I ordered the cheese ravioli and he was pointing to an incorrect cheese dish. He realized his mistake when I immediately pointed to the correct item and price on the menu. I ordered the Cappellini with Meat Sauce yesterday night and it was very good, fresh and very delicious with a very hearty profile to it. The sauce was not like ketchup in any way, but with a bold tomato base, runny texture, tangy flavor, pepper and a lot of ground meat. The noodles were very soft and tasty pairing perfectly with any sauce there. My server was very efficient and friendly. Easy going, casual Italian ambiance. Great place for families or date nights alike. The food is quality and exceptional in flavor. Menu has a large variety of options. We had a creamy Parmesan dressing house salad that was crisp and fresh and flavorful to start. We then ordered the lasagna and the squid ink spaghetti Alfredo with shrimp and scallops. Both Delicious. Came out piping hot and were nice large portions. We also ordered the carrot cake to go and two staff members recommended it saying it was the best in houston. This place definitely satisfied my pasta craving. We came here for lunch and was seated upon entering. I love the warm and casual decor. The place has a very homey vibe to it. Their menu is literally pasta heaven. So many great choices with a wide variety. We ordered fresh mussels as appetizers. It came out sizzling hot, deliciously soaked in very flavorful sauce. While we waited for our pasta, we also ate a ton of garlic bread. For the main course, my linguine with clams came out perfectly cooked. Services were also very attentive and friendly. We were quickly seated and had 2 servers help us. We both ordered a pizza and iced tea. The tea was fresh, and comes in giant 32 oz. Plastic cups. The pizza had a good homemade crust. I choose a pizza with pepperoni, sausage, onion, and I added mushrooms. I forget the name they gave it. My husband had their version of a meat lovers pizza. We choose 10 inch pizzas. My husband easily finished his. I have half of mine leftover for later. At the end of the meal, we both had double espressos. They have an apology on the front of their menu for raising prices but who hasn't had to raise them? The coffee was better than Starbucks and only $1 more. Food was ok, service was robotic, ambiance is dated. The bathroom was clean. When asked if the clams were canned or fresh, the server said they were "canned but it's a really popular dish". I took a leap of faith and ordered the dish and a Greek side salad. The Greek salad came out first and it was ok. My fault, I missed the $9.95 price. Menu says that a soup or salad can be added to entrees, I failed to see the $7.95 and I have no idea why the extra $2.00 was added. When the clams and linguini arrived hot and a incredibly generous order, I was impressed. The dish was really good, it should be, it was $26.95. My mother had the lobster ravioli, it was ok, at $34.95 I expected better. I left feeling really ripped off. You don't get what you pay for. The food is excellent but we stopped going here (after going 4-5 times a month for 15 years). The last time we went, Becca copped an attitude (for the second time) and was extremely rude in front of my husband and nieces. It was awkward and uncomfortable. George and Rene act like they've never seen us every time we go, even though we ate there at least once a week. They definitely have their favorite clientele and absolutely cater to them. You could learn a thing or two from the owners and employees of Cafe Benedict, Lomontes and Collina's. They are class acts compared to George's Pastaria. On recommendation of family we ate here as we were from out of town. We ordered one of the Penne chicken dishes which i believe was around $27.00 and asked to split. We also asked for a house salad to split as well. On website it shows price as less than $8.00. We heard you could bring your own wine and pay a nominal corking fee. We chose to forego that and order one glass each of the house wine (one Chardonnay and one Cabernet). Some of the worst house wines we've seriously ever had!! We ordered no dessert. Our bill with a generous tip came to $60.00. Absolutely ridiculous! Will never return! What a shame you feel you can scalp people. Been here a few times, but here's what I tried most recently... * Complimentary Garlic Bread - Somewhat addictive. Fresh bread toasted up with a fragrant garlic butter. We always ask for it extra toasty crispy. * Spaghetti Nero Seppia - Squid ink spaghetti with Alfredo sauce, prosciutto, shrimp, bay scallops. Spaghetti was perfectly Al dente and nice umami flavor. It was good, although could have done with a bit more scallop. Might like this better with a lighter sauce too like a garlic olive oil. * Seabass Frachaise - Nice fresh seabass with their white wine lemon butter artichoke and mushroom sauce. Solid, tasty dish * Seafood Maximo - Shrimp and Bay scallop with a white wine garlic butter sauce over angel hair pasta. A great pasta dish of you are in the mood for a seafood pasta with a lighter sauce. * Limoncello Cake - Yummy lemony cake with a light cream (marscapone?) frosting to share for dessert. * Chocolate Brownie with Vanilla Ice Cream - This was just ok. A bit too cakey for me. I prefer my brownies with a bit of a cookie like crust. Overall great food, friendly and attentive service. Nice selection of wines. Great for families and kids. It's OK. I Ordered a chicken parm with spaghetti bolognese but I got spaghetti marinara (which was still good). Actually, I don't know if they have bolognese here but that's what the waitress took the order as. Staff is super friendly though. Very homely atmosphere. It feels like a great everyday dinner spot for the neighborhood. The cheese sticks and fried ravioli were good. The kids enjoyed them. Bread was freshly toasted and plentiful. Over all an enjoyable experience. We, the fam, will be back in the future. Next time, I want to try the meat lover's pizza that the table next to us ordered. Over all thoughts, if you're carb loading, this is a great place. It was between going to Lasagna House III or here and I'm glad we came here. Haven't been back to Lasagna House in YEARS. HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL STAFF / SUPER NOISY I came to George's for dinner for the first and only time with friends on a recent Saturday evening. I was enjoying my meal until a party of 2 women and 4 children were seated directly behind us. The kids ranged from 1-6 years old and alternately misbehaved, screamed, hung off the back of their chairs and ran around the restaurant. After enduring 20 minutes of shouting, I asked one of the moms if they could please hold the noise down to which she huffily retorted that it was a "family friendly restaurant"! When she and her ill behaved group left, she loudly and angrily shouted "Merry Christmas" at our party of 4. The next thing I know, a waiter came over to me, TOUCHED MY ARM and proceeded to lecture me that it was a "restaurant for families", kids will be kids, they are regulars, etc.! No lie. In other words, he was trying to shame me in front of my dinner companions for not enduring the rowdy children and angry moms in silence. Disbelief.... Don't know about you but I'm uninterested to pay good money (in this case $169.70) at a restaurant which aspires to be a noisy kiddie dining paradise, much less one where the male waitstaff feels entitled to TOUCH and SCOLD its female patrons. I guess one has to be a "regular" to receive courteous service here. I cannot recall a more unprofessional and unpleasant dining experience in Houston than at George's Pastaria. read more

Didn't have reservation, but got a table when we walked in on a busy Thursday evening. Parking can be tricky....make sure you go in the first driveway. food was wonderful. read more
