I ended up at this beautiful establishment on a Friday night with some of my friends and was a little excited because I'd heard good things. However, I didn't know what I was gonna get because I'm not a big fan of Italian food. We were all hungry and decides we'd "3-course" it lol. My appetizer: the calamari fritti. A pretty good calamari, one of my better calamari experiences as of late. Well-breaded and seasoned!! A bit pricey, in my opinion, BUT it's a great portion size so I would recommend if you like/are wanted some good calamari. My entree: the spicy rigatoni vodka pasta. DELISH!!! It revived my interest in Italian food. My only critique is that I wish there was like 3 more scoops on my plate lol. A bit more would've been great but I will say, I was full lol so do what that information what you will. My dessert: the seasonal butter cake = STAR OF THE SHOW!!! Recommended by our server the cake did not disappoint. Baked well, amazing textures, sweet but not too sweet AND the ice cream gave it the right extra oomph. I also had some of the tiramisu because one of my friends ordered and I think I can say it's the best tiramisu I've ever had. I don't usually leave negative reviews, but after two visits with two different groups--9 people the first time and 7 the second--and everyone having a similar experience, I feel like it's worth sharing. Our most recent visit was for a friend's birthday. We had a 6:30 reservation, and our friend was standing there in a birthday sash and hat with party decor (beads and hats). The hostess spoke directly to them about our party size but never acknowledged the birthday or even said, "Happy birthday." Normally, I wouldn't think much of something that small, except the same thing happened when we celebrated another birthday here in June. We had reservations then as well. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy, but when we arrived, we were told, "We have to set up the table," and were left standing there waiting. Again, there was no acknowledgment of our loved one's birthday from the hostess or our server. The server eventually dropped off a birthday dessert and somehow still never said happy birthday. We had even expressed that it was our first time visiting and that we were excited to try somewhere new. Instead of feeling welcomed, we felt like we were a burden to be waited on. There was also something uncomfortable in that we noticed a pattern in who acknowledged the birthdayS and who didn't. I can't say what anyone's intentions were, and I'm not going to accuse someone of something I can't prove. But the pattern was noticeable enough that members of our party commented on it, particularly after experiencing a similar lack of acknowledgment on our previous birthday visit. We were polite and respectful throughout both visits, so it left us uncomfortable and wondering why there seemed to be such a difference in how we were received. Unfortunately, the problems went well beyond the birthday acknowledgment. On our most recent visit, our reservation was at 6:30, but we didn't receive our food until around 8:45. Service was extremely slow, and the waitstaff seemed aloof and inattentive. The bartender, on more than one occasion, gave us a hard, deadpan stare that came across as unnecessarily unfriendly. Both times, the restaurant was also uncomfortably warm, as though the AC could barely keep up. Despite how warm the restaurant was, the food somehow still arrived lukewarm. Portions were small for the prices, and overall, we found the food pretty bland. There were several other service issues throughout the night. Mushrooms were ordered with a meal and never came, yet they still appeared on the bill. Drink orders took an extremely long time. When the food finally arrived, dishes were essentially auctioned off across the table--"Who had the pasta?" "Who had...?"--rather than the servers knowing where the dishes belonged. It honestly felt like being at an auction. Dirty plates also sat on our table for most of the evening instead of being cleared. The one positive was the avocado flatbread during happy hour. It was great. Unfortunately, once happy hour ended, we were told it was no longer available. Any one of these things by itself probably wouldn't have prompted me to leave a negative review. But when you've spent $550+ on each of two visits and experienced the same combination of extremely slow service, an unwelcoming attitude, lukewarm and bland food, small portions, high prices, and generally inattentive service, it becomes difficult to overlook. It takes a lot for me to post something negative, which is also why we gave the restaurant another chance. Our family has been part of the Darden group in one capacity or another for 16 years combined. The lack of service and appreciation was dumbfounding. Cold unwelcoming service. I get folks have a bad day, but seriously a 400 dollar tab with no appreciation is ridiculous. We came to celebrate my nieces bday and we had a great experience. Our server Sydnie B. was so kind and attentive, we were a large table and she really took care of all of us. The food was great, I got my favorite, Strozappetri pasta, it never disappoints. The whole table got a variety of dishes, pizza, steak, chicken, we all were happy either our food. North Italia near Galleria is the restaurant I frequent, so dining at North Italia at Town & Country is something new. However, the decor and food are the same for both restaurants. My family and I had their famous white truffle garlic bread, and zucca chips as starters. We also had their Fig & Prosciutto pizza, and Hot Italian Stromboli as mains. As usual, all the food was amazingly delicious and tasty. While we loved the food, we hated the flies that were zooming around our food. One of the flies actually landed in my child's pasta! Yucks! Cute place to check out if you're craving Italian! It was my first time there and I enjoyed it. There's a lot to choose from the menu so I had my friend order for me/us to share on the table. Apparently he was actually craving the White Truffle Garlic Bread and that was the prime motive of taking me there. Which, I don't blame him! It ended up being my favorite out of everything we ordered. The Spicy Meatball Pizza was delicious, for whatever reason I wasn't expecting it to actually be spicy...so I was surprised when I felt the kick. The Bolognese wasn't as good as the others, but by no means was it bad. I do like the texture/size of the pasta noodle though. One of my favorite restaurants, and it never disappoints. The first time I tried eating here I fell in love. From the service to the food, and of course the comfortable atmosphere. I tried the Italian Cobb for the first time since the farm salad isn't in the menu anymore. It was definitely delicious but I really do miss that Italian farm. Nevertheless, on to finding more favorite items on the menu. I would love if the company brings back the farm salad seasonally. I consider it a really reliable chain, and I'm even more excited that they're opening a Katy location soon. If you're looking for thoughtful, flavorful Italian dishes that aren't your typical Olive Garden (no shade, I'll always love a soup, salad, and breadstick combo lol), this is definitely a spot worth checking out. The space has a great vibe, dim lighting, tea lights, fresh flowers on the tables, a beautiful bar up front, and a semi-open kitchen you can peek into. It feels elevated but still comfortable. Seating is great too, the booths are actually spacious and cozy. OK, so we had date night here. We drove over an hour. TOTALLY WORTH IT. Dexter was the bartender for the evening. He made absolutely amazing espresso martinis, we ordered the focaccia appetizer and realized we also wanted the ricotta that went with it, but this man brought me oil and balsamic for it as well, and I could eat that every day of my life!! I always adore North Italia--it's such a cute spot with great drinks (and as a wine girl, I appreciate their selection ). The only downside is the happy hour setup. It's only offered in a specific area of the restaurant, not throughout, which is kind of a bummer. We went for a work girls' happy hour and missed out on the pricing because of that. That said, everything else was amazing. We ordered a jug of sangria (so good), and our server gave great recommendations--we ended up with the parmesan chicken, short rib pasta, an Alfredo dish, the bread, and the meatballs. Drinks: Alta rossa and Sicilian margarita - really enjoyed the Alta rossa which included raspberry infused tequila and so had a sweet tangy pop to it, compared to the calmer/slightly stronger Sicilian margarita Appetizer: daily soup (kale, sausage, and potato) - came hot and fresh so especially delicious during the colder chill. I have frequented North Italia many times, but my experience this Mother's Day ensures I will not return to the CityCentre location. Despite booking an indoor reservation in advance specifically to avoid outdoor seating, the evening was a series of frustrations. Due to rain, the restaurant was running behind. I arrived early and waited patiently, only to be led to an outdoor table by a staff member who offered no alternative. I felt like I was being herded just to clear the lobby, with no regard for my actual reservation. The situation became truly absurd minutes after I sat down. The hostess called my cell phone to announce my indoor table was ready. When I explained that I had just been forced outside and asked to move to the indoor table I had reserved, she flatly refused. She told me that because I was already seated, they would not move me. It felt as though the staff's only priority was rushing people into seats to accommodate the crowd, regardless of whether they were honoring a guest's specific request. Being treated like a transaction rather than a loyal customer is deeply disappointing. While the food remains good and our server was fine, the rigid and dismissive choices made by the front-of-house staff ruined the evening. I still enjoy the menu, but I will be taking my business to a different location from now on. If you value consistent service and honors for your reservation requests, I suggest you do the same. read more

I came here for a work event and was truly blown away by how delicious the food was. Coming from someone who normally doesn't order appetizers, the beef carpaccio is a must-try and honestly changed my life. The thinly sliced raw beef, coupled with cheese, toasted pine nuts, green salsa, arugula, and bread was a unique dish executed beautifully, even from someone with great apprehension towards raw meat. I also ordered the braised short rib, which came in a creamy sauce, horseradish, arugula, cheese, and breadcrumbs. I felt the proportion of meat to noodle to sauce to topping was well-executed, with all the flavors working together in harmony. Not to be outdone, the hazelnut torta dessert was a fantastic end to the meal, complete with homemade nutella, candied nuts, and a salted caramel gelato. Even for a voracious eater like myself, I felt the serving sizes were generous particularly for the price point. I appreciated that they had reasonably priced mocktails as well. Located conveniently in the City Center with free parking near by, North Italia is at the top of my list for some of the best Italian food I've had the opportunity to try in Houston. Our waitress was very nice and informative. She also assisted with all our needs. For starters I had the tomato bruschetta and meatballs. I could literally eat the bruschetta all day by itself. Not great (a little absent and they didn't appear too busy); but the food just didn't have as much flavor. Our cacio pepe hardly had any pepper or that buttery and cheesy richness. Easily one of my best restaurants encounters. I can count on one hand how often a first time experience impressed me this much. The experience was above and beyond. Jess provided a multi Michelin star level of service. Something I do not say lightly but certainly well deserved. I hope North Italia acknowledges how fortunate they are to have her. The restaurant provides an airy and open concept mixed with a splash of natural elements to help break up the modern architecture. I would encourage North Italian to carry the happy hour menu into the main dining. I think they are limiting themselves by excluding it to the bar. Parking is a little tricky during peak hours but it's more than worth it for the experience. The food and drinks were fantastic. I would strongly recommend the Marco Polo cocktail. I have never been to North Italia before and was craving pasta so we came in on a random Friday night. We did not make reservations before we just stopped in and were sat right away. The staff were awesome, very attentive and took care of us the entire evening. The restaurant is pretty big inside, plenty of seating both indoor and outdoor with bar seating as well. Highly recommend the truffle butter garlic bread delicious. My fiancé got the chicken parmesan and it was delicious! I got the spicy rigatoni, I liked it but it was pretty spicy I would recommend the chicken parm as I just really loved it. Stopped by for dinner Monday afternoon and it was definitely getting busy at 5. Luckily, we were able to be seated without a reservation but if you're planning on coming, I'd highly recommend one. Happy hour runs from 3-6 pm in which we got a pitcher of sangria. The sangria was really good and a good bang for your buck if sharing with friends. For food we got the funghi pizza and a side of brussel sprouts. Brussel sprouts were good and lemony. The pizza unfortunately was so greasy. Even though I've been to Italy I've had the best cacio e pepe in Houston at another restaurant and becameobsessed. The arancini balls were fried light and had a light consistency of rice, cheese, salt and pepper. The sauce that accompanied it was delicious. The calamari was heavenly. I didn't want to fill up too quick but I could have eaten the whole plate with the accompanied sauces. It had a slight chew that I tend to prefer in calamari. It was quite nice and had a hint of acid. Very delightful! I ordered the Sunday lasagna for my main meal. Just be aware this is a small dish but enough for me and packed with flavor! The meat sauce was tasty and the noodles were cooked perfectly. I would get it again! My other friend had well cooked salmon, a big piece, with a sauce and baby peas that were cute and very tasty. He thoroughly enjoyed it! My other friend got the Beef regu with rigatoni. It came with spaghetti but they let her choose her pasta and it was delicious. What a great meal. Will be back! read more

North Italia has amazing food overall, but the fungi mushroom pizza didn't quite hit for us. It looked great, but the crust was too soggy and didn't hold up. We preferred the margherita pizza instead, much better texture and flavor. Could've been an off day, but everything else was great. read more

My friends and I went to happy hour. I love this location. It was my first time. I had the sangria. It was ok. While I was craving the pizza from the happy hour menu, I decided to eat healthier. I chose the simple salad and zuca chips. The chips are thinly sliced breaded zucchini and served with a green dipping sauce. The salad had a delicious gorgonzola vinaigrette. My friend ordered a tiramisu to share with us. I'm not crazy about tiramisu but nevertheless, it was good and had these delicious tiny chocolate pearls as topping. The decaf coffee wasn't great. Presentation for all of our food was great and our young waiter Matthew was the cherry on top. read more

This is a decent spot for a casual dinner that's not too casual. The "I tried just enough but didn't sweat" vibe - nonchalant, if you will. It's good for both second dates and hangouts between friends of 25+ years. I was somewhat disappointed by the drinks list. No cocktails jumped out (other than the one that sounded promising but I still forwent because it was based on a coconut-infused rum... not my idea of an Italian cocktail), and while the menu had all the parts of a Negroni, it wasn't on it. Wines by the glass started at $17 for bigger reds (Nebbiolo is Pinot Noir's Italian cousin so I don't count that) and made me think, "Maybe I am now outdated in thinking a glass of wine can be available for $15 and under in Houston"; while $2 is not a meaningful amount, I was surprised to see the dearth of options. As for food: It had been years since I last visited so we decided to hit all three main areas (pizza, pasta, entree). Lumache allla Norciana: Great pasta al dente - are all their pastas made in house? bc I didn't think this could be a fresh pasta (and I mean well when I say that - I like chewier pastas with more bite). Delicious ground sausage smeared all over. 5/5 Pork Milanese: I imagine this was a pork loin or shoulder cut. Deep fried and balanced out with pickled veggies and fresh arugula, but this felt like a chicken katsu. What I mean is that it could've used some pounding and not be as chunky. 3/5 Funghi pizza: Mushrooms on a white pizza with what tasted like lavender or herbs de Provence, which was a twist. The dough was hard and there wasn't much sauce or cheese though. Surprisingly tasted better after dinner so probably best for takeout. 3.5/5 Overall, I enjoyed the dinner. Friendly hostess and strong service with ample parking in the garage. One note for the restaurant: If patrons with reservations walk in during happy hour into a nearly-empty restaurant, it would be nice to at least offer the happy hour seating (which is limited to the bar seating or high tops), even if they decline. read more
