George's Pastaria, no doubt, draws a sustainable share of patrons. The servers are friendly and attentive and the pizza is my wife's favorite. As a pizza-pasta place, George commands as much or higher for Italian dishes than the following restaurants whose exceptional food has earned them accolades, including People's Choice awards, magazine features and TV spots: Mezzanotte Ristorante, Impero, Pane Vino, and Grazia. I set high standards when I pay their prices. What I got at George's was undercooked shell pasta that stuck together, requiring me to pry the shells apart so I could chew them. The sauce tasted like a pizza-pasta place. George calls it a Pastaria, but they don't make their own pasta from scratch like some or all of the ristorantes I named. All but Impero offer veterans 10% off of food items. Not George's. If you figure that in, it's cheaper to eat at restaurants with handmade pasta and better food. George's Pasteria is better than Spanky's and Russo's New York Pizza, but his dish prices are well out of his league. read more

We came here for a family dinner for someone's birthday. Wanted something homey and cozy, and assumedly more authentic than Olive Garden. George's did not disappoint. It could be described as quaint and cozy, and the smell of garlic wafts throughout the place. Servers visit the table often, and seemingly all staff are required to circulate throughout the dining room rather than necessarily being assigned to specific tables. Wait staff was good, food, not so much. Been several years since our family had been there, we used to live a short distance away. Moved to another part of Houston, but found ourselves back in the old neighborhood so we stopped in. Maybe it has new owners or something, but it wasn't good. read more

The food was delicious and our experience was good. General atmosphere is what you would expect for a casual family Italian eatery. They had plenty of staff (mostly what looked like high schoolers) but only a handful of them were actually working. Like I said, our service was fine, nothing spectacular but not bad either. It probably would have been spectacular if all the staff were actually working but there was one woman and young man pretty much serving the entire place, so I don't blame them for not being super attentive. Still our waters were never empty, our food was prompt and correct so no complaints just an observation. One negative is the prices seemed more like an upscale Italian restaurant. There's a note about inflation on the current menu and prices are about $3-5 higher per item than the photos on Yelp. Still the food was fresh, yummy and portions are large. I'll likely return but based in the prices, probably not super often. Maybe for a date night when I'm feeling like a treat. read more

Georges is my favorite place to eat! The food is amazing and the service is great!! We had Becca as our server and she was so kind and took great care of us. They have great wine options and always have good deals. My boyfriend and I always want to go to George's for date night. George is always working at the restaurant with his wife Renee and every member of the staff giving every customer that nice welcoming vibe at the restaurant. I like that George's Pastaria will have a daily special. So far all the day special I have tried are delicious. read more

George's Pasta, Rea may have an attractive decor, but unfortunately, the food does not live up to expectations. The dishes are mediocre, and not well prepared, which is a shame, considering the restaurant's location and potential. While the interior is decorated beautifully, and the atmosphere is nice, the actual dining experience falls short. I visited George's during the off times in between lunch and dinner so the place was absolutely quiet. I'm not much of an Italian food kind of guy, but my time at George's was actually quite enjoyable. Food was on the pricier side of things, but it was justifiable since they portion size of it could last two meals. If I remember correctly, I got the "Renee" which was delicious and satisfied my protein/carb needs. The staff was nice, the atmosphere was a calm and comfy, but casual family place. For a local night out with family, this would be a good place to go. Currently our favorite Italian spot within 5-10 minutes driving distance from our house. read more

My fiancé and I drive past this place all of the time and we finally made some time to try it. We absolutely loved it!! They had the best chicken parmesan we've ever experienced. I had the Pene Rene, as it was recommended to me by Becka, and it was incredible. Becka was also incredible! We told her that it was our first time here and she had a lot of great recommendations. She also treated us to their signature soup (amazing!!!). We finished out our meal with their homemade cheesecake; we were not disappointed!! Quick question - do you like chicken parmesan? Then you MUST come here and try it out. I am a huge chicken parm fan and they have some of the best I've ever had. Located in the westchase area - its nice and quaint - perfect for catching up with family or friends. While they didn't sing happy birthday for one of our party the did bring out a delicious chocolate brownie that was served with cool vanilla ice cream. They were accommodating to our party size and the service was good - not great. The food on the other hand was amazing! It's a nice little gem and a place I would recommend trying out. read more

After we finished our meal, someone looked like the owner came to ask how the food was. First of all I want to be straight forward in here no Bs. I don't write review often. Today I will write one for this restaurant. I try their pizza and ask for recommendation and came out authentic Italian style marinara pizza with goat cheese and chunk of tomatoes. It's a risk to put a chuck of tomatoes if the person doesn't know how to put together with other ingredients. But, not this one. It was perfect, the toppings and the crust goes well together and compliment each other. 2nd dishes I was trying to get the Chilean Sea bass and again the person who served us recommend us to try their red fish with a beurre blanc (white wine, lemon & butter reduction) it came out perfect and well balanced. This red fish it has to cooked just right otherwise it will ruin. If cooking just little bit to long will dry out and would be taste like a paper. If cooking not enough time will be undercooked, but again it came out perfect. I had it with spinach instead of linguine and came out amazingly well prepared. Over all the food is great. It must be either run by discipline individual cook's or run by people person. Meaning it run by people who put their hearts into their works ethic. Will be back! read more

My girlfriend and I were looking for a different pasta restaurant than the one near us. We googled a bit and we found George's Pastaria not too far from us. It had pretty good reviews on Google so we went for it. We were greeted by a man who told us a story as he was taking us to our table. It was nice to get such great customer service as soon as we arrived. After the story, he said his name was George. The food was great, it's exactly what we were looking for. VERY DISAPPOINTED in this place. Their service was SIGNIFICANTLY subpar, for our table in particular. Took 10 minutes for water, at which time we ordered an appetizer, but werent asked if we cared for something other than water. After appetizer arrived nobody returned to take our order. 20 minutes later we were finally able to stop a waiter walking by to take our order; I was also finally able to order a glass of wine. 15 minutes later still no wine but I couldnt help but notice THREE tables that arrived quite some time after us promptly received their wine glasses. AGAIN, we had to stop another employee that was speedily walking by to kindly re-request my glass of wine. He may, or may not have noticed my frustration but I will say not much changed after this. We felt quite neglected the ENTIRE time. Especially being that EVERY SINGLE OTHER TABLE was being frequently checked on, unlike ours. Every wait staff employee (including those who appeared to be the owners) walked passed our table on multiple occassions and we would get little glances over to our table here and there but we were obviously not worthy of being checked on. At one point, someone did come to our table while we were eating our meal and said to me "I heard you had to wait a really long time to get a glass of wine" to which i replied "I did". She then asked who took my order and my assumption is she approached him and had him come apologize. He said to me "Im sorry about the wine, I heard the food order, but not the wine." Let me point out that he repeated the type of wine I ordered when taking my order. The food was fine (which earns them 1 star) however I cant say I truly enjoyed it given my disappointment. I've NEVER felt this insignificant at a restaurant before. What's SADDER, our children even asked us "why is everone else being checked on except for us?" Came here on a Monday and it was surprisingly crowded. I believe they have half off wine bottles that day. We ordered the calamari to start and really enjoyed it. It had the perfect amount of batter and was very flavorful. For my entree I had the chicken parm and it came out pipping hot. My parents are vegetarians and my dad doesn't really like eggplants but decided to go with their recommendations of eggplant parm and he ended up really enjoying it. Both my parents said they would definitely return here. Husband had the rigatoni and really enjoyed that as well. From the min I walked in I could tell I was home. Folks sitting at tables eating talking laughing, no one on cell phones and buried in an I Pad. Greeting warmly and sat down. The Owner George came over shook my hand and welcomed me to his place. From then on it just got better, the chicken, potato Leek Soup ON POINT ! The bread warm fresh and tasty. Salad was cold and simple but delicious. I had a generously poured glass of wine and if you bring your own they pop and pour for you. Mondays are HALF PRICED WINE SAY WHAT!!!! I ordered a spaghetti and meatballs with meat sauce OMGOODNESS come one it was stupid good! Meatballs tender and flavorful... sauce was deep and sweet and pasta cooked perfectly. My husband and I were in Houston for a day trip and on the way back to Shreveport, we decided to stop in, and I'm so thankful we did!!!!! The complimentary garlic bread is buttery, garlicky, soft chewy goodness. The cheese sticks were gooey and the marinara for dipping was tasty as well. Craving for spaghetti and this is first place that pop up on Yelp. The place is a old stable in the area. But I never got the chance to try it. The record remind me of the 80s. But the whole place is clean and spacious. And parking lot is huge which is nice. The pasta itself was cooked just right. And the Turkey meat balls itself was delish out of my surprised. The sauteed vegetables was a nice touch. And the garlic bread was to dead for. The place has pizza to pasta. And it served alcohol. Great place for casual dinner with family or quick bite for lunch.
