I came here for lunch a few weeks ago for my first visit and to sample their Houston Restaurant Weeks 3 course menu for $25. My group was warmly welcomed and seated in the restaurant which was about one third full. From the 2025 HRW menu, I ordered the house salad to start with, the duo of beef medallions for the entree and then strawberry romanoff ice cream for dessert. First to arrive were a couple of bread baskets with butter for the table. The bread was warm, soft and delicious. Then my salad appeared with tomatoes, cucumbers and mushrooms on the bed of greens with a herb dressing mixed in. It was served on a cold plate with some cracked pepper added at the table and was a quality tasting salad. Shortly after that the entrees arrived. My plate had 2 large beef medallions topped with a Bernaise and Peppercorn sauce on top. Also on the plate were broccoli and roasted potatoes. The beef was tender and the sauce added excellent flavor. It was a very good 3rd course. Finally the strawberry ice cream concoction was served in a tall glass with strawberrys and whipped cream on top. The strawberry romanoff ice cream was delicious and a nice finish to a nice meal. Also our table service was excellent and professional, I am glad I visited Lynn's and thank them for participating in HRW. We all agreed that it was an excellent experience. Celebrated Ethan's birthday at this quaint restaurant yesterday. Nice ambiance. Overall, service was excellent. Loved the bread. The lobster bisque was good. We all liked our tender steaks: filet Oscar, ribeye and filet mignon. The steak fries were ok. The birthday chocolate cake was delicious. I ordered the cheesecake to go, I didn't care too much for it. My boys normally order mac&cheese as a side, so they were disappointed it wasn't on the menu. read more

This was our first time here; we decided to go because of the great reviews, and all were correct. Our greeting as we walked in was warm and inviting. On the reservation, I noted that it was my wife's bday- and they wished her a happy birthday along w a card waiting for her at the table. The food was outstanding. Filets, medallions, lobster tail, soups, veggies, and fresh bread were all top notch. The place is intimate, not many tables, which gives it a family vibe. I went here for the second time ever ordering the same steak n dessert as my first. My 18 oz NY Strip - rare and slice of Chocolate Cake were both so delicious, juicy, full of flavor and high quality. My steak was very well-seasoned, very fatty, very beefy, really rich and as you can see... thick. It was cooler on the top than I hoped, but they nailed the inside perfectly. Since it was so good, I didn't mind the top being a little less warm than I requested. The flavor profile was very simple, but done expertly with plenty of salt and black pepper, along with some herbed butter. The cake was great tasting with great cocoa vibes, great moisture and ideal frosting to flour ratio. It had a little extra taste to it that added more depth. Very good cake and I also need to try their bread pudding next time, bc that looked scrumptious as well. Love chocolate cake and bread pudding to begin with. The complimentary bread was very fresh with a crispy, flaky, toasty exterior. The service was very welcoming and efficient. This place has been around forever and has graduated now to institution status on the west side. Stiff drinks, thick steaks, good seafood... Excellent side dishes that are big enough for two lumberjacks or three regular people. Think Houston in the 1980s when oil was booming and money and expense accounts we're abundant. I haven't been in years but I definitely am going to make it more frequent from now on. (I forget how much fun we used to have in the early '80s.) In addition to their dinner menu, they also serve a budget-friendly lunch menu that provides plenty of options for everyone. A coworker and I came on a Wednesday during lunch. We came right when they opened so we were the first customers of the day. Upon entering the restaurant, you go up about 3 steps to the dining room. The wall is half carpet and the decor has an old, charming style. The service was extremely attentive. We came for HRW 2024. While looking at the main menu, I was disappointed to find that they offer a "Deluxe Lunch Special" which is almost verbatim the HRW menu. Oh well, at least for the HRW menu they donate $3 to a good cause. I ended up doing HRW and got a house salad, beef duo medallions and the carrot cake. The house salad was standard, with lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers and a few mushrooms, topped with a super creamy and heavy dressing. My beef entree had two sauces - a peppercorn and a bearnaise. The peppercorn had whole peppercorns, which was a little bit off putting for me even though I do enjoy peppercorn. The bearnaise was creamy and heavy. I preferred the bearnaise. The actual steak was cooked to medium and it was really delicious. The dish came with 3 small pieces of broccoli and three small pieces of potato - both needed a lot more seasoning. The carrot cake was moist in the center but dry towards the outer edge. It was super sweet for me. Overall, the steak itself was good but i wasn't impressed by the rest. I got the rack of lamb. I asked for medium and some of them were medium rare so I asked for it to be cooked more which they did pretty quickly. Granted, there was only one other table of customers there at that time. But still, we got no attitude or rudeness. The lamb did have a lot of seasoning on it but it tasted good to me. The carrots that came with it looked like they were old and they didn't bother to peel them to freshen them up. Kind of like raw burnt human skin. And they tasted like feet. So that really annoyed me. But I got the cheesecake which was really good. And I'm assuming they made it, lol. So they saved themselves with that. I am gluten free and they do not have gluten free bread. The crab cake was good but only had a bite due to gluten. read more

The restaurant has a dated decor but it is neat. Lynn's Steakhouse has a pretty good HRW menu which I went for. The house salad's dressing was creamy and good. The vegetables were fresh. For my entree, I had the duo beef medallions which the chef nailed the temperature of the beef. The sauces were delicious. The portion was good. The carrot cake was the perfect dessert to end the meal. It wasn't dense and wasn't too sweet. I love Lynn's Steakhouse food and would go back to try their regular menu. read more

The outside is very unassuming to the point of being a little dated. However, the inside is quite elegant, the ambience is dark, sophisticated, and characterized by subdued lighting. For appetizers my wife and I ordered crab cakes. My crab cake appetizer was good. But, my wife's crab cake was cold. For the main course I ordered the Chilean sea bass with shrimp, and lyonnaise potatoes. And my wife ordered the Chateaubriand center cut. Her dish was cooked a perfect medium rare, and the flavor was very good (although she didn't like the peppercorn sauce). The dessert was a dark chocolate cake which looked and tasted delicious. The cake wasn't too dry or moist and it was just the right amount of sweet. I also had a cappuccino. The cappuccino was good, but I would prefer it to be a little more dry next time. Located off of Dairy Ashford in the same building since day 1. The interior has not changed since my last visit in the 90s. The service is still stellar, the place kept clean & the food excellent! Did you know they are a holder of Wine Spectator's Award of Excellence? Yep, they have a very nice selection. On our recent visit, H & I indulged ourselves with hearty steaks, his was the 8 oz filet & I opted for the triple peppercorn medallions. For the side we ordered the bacon lyonnaise potatoes. The medallions were big & cooked to perfection, topped with a peppercorn mushroom sauce. The potatoes were excellent & the bacon made the dish perfect. Service excellent & attentive. I can see why this place has made it 40 years. They have an Express Lunch that includes a starter, main & dessert for $26. Not a bad deal! read more

Went here on a Tuesday afternoon to celebrate a friend's birthday. Was 1st asked if we had a reservation when I stated it was a party of 5 despite the restaurant being slow. 2 people in our party ordered steaks medium rare - delivered well done. Those were sent back and we were told that they would be comped. They weren't. The frozen Mediterranean Mahi Mahi steaks were tough to cut. No vegetables were served with any of the entries. I tried to call to talk to the manager 4 times and left a message for a call back which was never returned. Save your money and go elsewhere. read more

When people talk about restaurants very often Lynn's is left off the list and for what reason I cannot comprehend. It has been here for at least 40 years that I can recollect and it's likely that it's been here longer. The reason I have not written about it is because frankly I've been here only two or three times in my entire dining experience in Houston, but every aspect from the food to the service is superlative in so far as the ambience is concerned it is also rather lovely. I grant you it is antiquated however, it is quite nice. The appetizers we had were scallops. They were perfectly cooked. I had a prime rib, which was again perfectly cooked and a very adequate portion and the sides of mushrooms and asparagus were wonderful. The wine we had with dinner was a stags Leap Artemis which was quite good, but frankly there are better wines on the menu. We just didn't partake of them, but I would by all means encourage people to take a look at the wine menu. And then we had a.Bolce dessert wine, which was simply incredible and I must say for as much as I drink ice wines after dinner this was just incredible dessert wine directly from France a wonderful experience this is not a restaurant to be missed read more

Wow, this place is FIRE, I always say i am not much of a steak guy, but i love Lamb. I was surprised they served lamb when i sat down and looked at the menu. My girl loves lamb too, since she comes from a Middle Eastern background of eating it. We stopped here and immediately knew what we wanted. We got the Rack Of Lamb plate. I've lived in Houston for 11 years and my first dinner at Lynn's was tonight. This is my kind of place. If you have not gone, go. This steakhouse is everything. Delicious. Timeless service. Classic ambience. We went on a Thursday and it was not crowded which I was quite surprised about. A full bar, a tremendous kitchen, and servers who honestly made you feel welcome. Where I do start? We both ordered soup (bisque and French onion), which were excellent. Filet was delectable. My wife had the red snapper and loved it. Brussels sprouts and au gratin potatoes were the perfect sides and large. Would have had desert but ordered an espresso instead ... the martini I had before dinner was way too perfect so I needed the espresso to close the loop! If Yelp allowed 6 stars once in a while I'd give it here. If you live steakhouses and have not been here you must go. Period. We will be back! read more

What a hidden gem! I have seen some yelpers post about this place before but I had no idea that it was going to be this good. We came here for HRW and I ended up getting the lobster bisque, the 8 oz filet and the carrot cake. Think of the service as an old school proper steakhouse. The server was so knowledgeable and if he didn't have the answers to our questions then he would bring out the sommelier to assist. The manager came to check on us at the end of the meal. The lobster bisque is probably one of the best ones that I have had in Houston! The steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare but the vegetables on the side is what shocked me the most. The 90's seem to have gotten stuck at Lynn's Steakhouse. I can imagine this place as the flagship steakhouse after church on Sundays back in the day. However this kind of old-school nostalgia doesn't do it for me anymore. The place is very intimate and the waiters wear tuxes with a manager in a suit walking around table to table. A ribeye with 1-2 sides shared with friends ran me ~$90. Very expensive even for today's standards. Steak was well prepared and food was fine, but you can find the same kind of stuff elsewhere for cheaper. I understand Lynn's steakhouse gives off an "old money" fancy vibe, but walk outside and you'll be facing Dairy Ashford and looking around your shoulder to see if you're safe in the area. Lynn's Steakhouse has had its time in the limelight, unfortunately, its way past its prime. There was nothing special about this place besides its ability to last in that area for so long. read more

Waiting for me at our reserved table was a birthday card from Lynn's Steakhouse that was signed by the Staff. We shared appetizers and sides , and each had steaks that prepared to perfection. We all agreed that our Steaks were at the top of our lists of steaks we have had in Houston. I was presented with a birthday dessert, and we ordered 2 more for the table.
