This place has been here forever. Haven't been here in a few years. The remodel looks nice. We feel like this place is a good value for breakfast. We both had the special (Can't recall the name). Came here on a Sunday morning once with family and have to say it was very good. The meal portions were large (which we loved) and all the food tasted very good. We received a lot of stuff with our meals. The waitresses and everyone that greeted us made us feel right at home so I can't say one bad thing about this place ! We were here New Years Eve. I think "George" was even there. Service was just awful. They were not that busy and we were there for breakfast. We all ordered eggs. They took 20 minutes or longer. Plus we had to ask where our food was. If our server wasn't too busy talking to her kids and husband that were seated in another booth maybe our food would have been her priority. Instead she was worried about putting her kids coats on and talking it up with her husband. I can understand that would be ok if she wasn't busy but she had at least 4 other tables besides us. Restaurants near us serve breakfast in 5 to 10 minutes after you order. George's could care less. He is all about smiles and saying hi vs the service. The food was fine. I only got to eat 2 bites because we had to go bowl. The bacon was not done and was soggy. Go else where unless you have 2 hours to kill. They move slow! read more

My wife and I had Sunday morning breakfast here and we can assure you we will not be back. For starters if you are a coffee person don't go here...the coffee is terrible, watered down plain bad coffee. We ordered french toast bacon and hash browns, the french toast was so stale i could barely get thru it with my fork. The waiter seemed put off and to top everything they kicked on the ceiling fan which was above our table in which chunks of dust started to rain over our table. I work for Telecab taxi as a dispatcher for the past 12 years. When our office was located in lockport, we used to order carry out every weekend on the midnight shift.. Now we're downtown Joliet, and kinda forgot about George's... But last weekend, had a driver dropping off in Lemont... My coworker and I were dying for anything #nonfastfood....I remembered George's famous Biscuits n gravy eggs, hash browns n sausage or bacon!!! $16.00 for 2 meals.... We told the driver to tip you and she tipped herself... Don't look at us in a bad way... Never sending her again she though we said the $8.00 tip was for her... But we got you Friday night!! I haven't tried this place before in my time of being in Lockport. I came here with a couple of friends. For my first time here, this place did not disappoint! Food was absolutely great! It's definitely nothing special or fancy but it's been consistently good. Awhile back things weren't so great here (about 15 years ago give or take) but they've stepped it back up. I really like the breakfasts here but have had lunch/dinner items as well and it's all been good. It's certainly not gourmet or anything but you will get a good meal at a decent price, which is precisely what one would expect at this family type restaurant. read more

Our expectations weren't too high and we were taken off guard by very friendly and competent staff and food which was actually delicious. We walked in and should have walked out but we had 3 kids who were hungry. My GF and I had both worked 12 your days and neither of us wanted to cook. Took 15 min to seat the 4 people in front of us and then us, a party of 5. Once we got seated it only got better. Waitress who very clearly was new was way in over her head and the manager couldn't care less. Took about 20 min for her to get to our order and she didn't know the menu or what changes she could make to an order. Shame on you excuse making manager. We didn't order anything special. I asked for my meatloaf without gravy but to have sautéed onions and my mashed to be loaded & she didn't know if she could do that. My GFs daughter wanted spaghetti and meatballs and the kids menu doesn't come with meatballs. She had to ask if she could add one. After getting the price of $.95 a meatball she confirmed that she could. Kind of highway robbery if you ask me but what do I know! My GF wanted a southwest salad but no choice of any semblance of a southwest dressing available changed to a grilled buffalo chicken wrap which the waitress didn't know if she could do and never came back to verify. 45 min later still no food. I go to complain to the manager since at this point it is clearly a kitchen problem and she can't stop feeding me excuses about 1) another groups order was put in first (they were still being seated when our order was given) 2) the waitress is slow, 3) the printer malfunctioned. 5 min later the food starts showing up. One kids meal wasn't enough for a mouse and the spaghetti was enough for a 200 lb man. The kids were almost done eating before my meatloaf showed up. The meatloaf had the consultancy of jerky. It was dry and definitely not fresh. The buffalo chicken wrap looked like a portillos beef sandwich that was dipped with way too much gravy. I went to complain again and got more lip service. The manager was going to take care of the bill. Whatever that meant because the waitress who we hadn't seen since the food was delivered brought us the full bill. I want to tell you that this was the end but it wasn't. I can't keep going but let's just say, it involved me showing the meatloaf with literally 1 bite out of it, and the wrap that was like soup on the plate and I walked out to let the GF deal with it. About 10 min later out comes my GF with the manager who now wanted to apologize and tell me she comped us the 2 the adult meals and 50% off the kids meals and wanted us to come back again. Even offered is a gift card to entice us. I told her I wouldn't accept it nor would I ever come back. That I was writing a review and that if anyone ever asked I would tell them all about the service, the food and poorly trained staff. Sad thing is that waitress is probably going to be fired and blamed for all of this and her only issue was applying at this horrible establishment. I wish I knew her name but for being new she was playing the hand she was dealt fairly well. Oh and I left my phone in my car or I would have taken some pics of the spread. Advice? Go to McDonald's where you at least expect to spend $30-50 for a family of 5 and receive old, dried out food and horrible seevi In response to the establishments reply: If the substitutions had been the only issue, I wouldn't have left a review. Sautéed onions instead of gravy, grilled chicken versus breaded and a meatball added to spaghetti hardly justify an hour and 15 min wait and not one visit from the manger who never left the register or the waitress who had at least 5 tables. Placing a brand new waitress out on a Friday night with little or no training shows how far this went. The manager had every excuse in the world but all I wanted was an apology and an edible plate of food. Nothing more than that was needed. read more

I have eaten at George's multiple times. I live in CA but every time I visit IL for business I always make it a point to eat at George's. The reason being is that the food is excellent. I have had breakfast, lunch, and dinner on different occasions and everything has been great along with great service. I am not a huge yelper however my latest visit I ordered the Hollandaise Skillet with a side of the Strawberry Cheescake Pancakes. Let me just tell you these are a MUST TRY! No joke probably one of the best hollandaise sauce's I have ever tried and most delicious pancakes thus explaining why I couldn't help myself to writing a review for this place. My husband and I went to Lockport to visit a friend of ours and we decided to go to George's We had been there a few times over the last 5-6 years and always found the food good. So the three of us enjoyed our food and we decided to take our desserts home with us. My husband took apple pie and I took baklava. The next afternoon I decided to eat it with my tea and I was so disappointed in this hard like a rock dessert. It was terrible nothing you could do to it could improve it and it ended going to the trash. If I lived nearby I would have returned it. I called and the lady who answered acted like I was being picky. Our bill was over $50 for 3 people. GEORGES!!! Now there may be a MILLION Georges out there. But this one is THE BEST. I been going here religously since the highschool daze and everything about this place is good. The Food is ALWAYS served hot and fresh, and quite quickly too. The waitresses are GREAT and very nice. In fact, regulars know them by their names because they've been there so long. Oh yea and they're coffee is really good. I havent been their since they banned smoking but as long as they didnt outlaw it there, then I'm a happy campy. Nothing like some coffee and cigarettes at GEORGES. And Strike N' Spare is right next door, do a lil bowling then go have a nice meal. read more

Came here once to dine in for breakfast, and ordered breakfast once for carry out. The dine in experience was a Sunday morning. It was crowded, but we got a seat right away. It's a cute little restaurant with a decent amount of seating. All the food was good and service was good as far as I can recall. Good experience with the carry out as well. I recommend dining in though, as breakfast food tends to get soggy in the boxes by the time you get home. Will be back for breakfast and would like to try it out for lunch/dinner sometime. read more

I had the gypsy skillet.. Never again. So... Weeks passed... And I go back to see friends... So I try skirt steak, eggs, hash browns... What can go wrong... Well , something was making my upper G.I. Burp for 3 hours... All I can taste was skirt steak. Finally just before leaving, I was noticing the buss boys cleaning tables, and the same towel they used to wipe down the table, they used to wipe down the booth chairs. If I have to go.. Not long ago, i came in in the evening after work looking for some cream of chicken soup, my favorite. i was planning on ordering takeout so i could bring home some quality soup for my family. i stood at the counter for FIFTEEN minutes before i was even acknowledged. Short white lady with the brown hair (if you've been here, you know the one) repeatedly walked past me and took care of other customers while blatantly ignoring me. once she finally took my order, it was another 20 minutes before i even got my food. listen, i know it takes a bit to get food ready and whatnot. but 20 minutes for some damn soup? really?! now i was really irritated. i get home and get ready to eat and i only received 2 orders of soup, when i had ordered 3. i look at the receipt and she charged me for 4!!!! i walked back in the restaurant FUMING. She eventually gave me the rest of my order. no apology or anything. absolutely ridiculous. won't get takeout here ever again. read more
