Dr. Don is a miracle worker. He diagnosed our dog with a low thyroid5--something our DC vet completely missed. After 2 days on pills, our dog no longer gets out of bed at least 5 times a nigh to drink water and then cries until I put him back into bed. How wonderful for our dog and for me. While looking for Vets in the area I was referred by Millsboro Veterinary to Georgetown Animal Hospital. I called in the summer time and was told to call back in October to see if new patients were being taken,(I had tried a few times previously as well) Well lo and behold they are not taking new patients and neither is Millsboro. It is ashamed you cannot get health care not only for humans but for animals as well around the area. It is terrible that this is happening since there are very few places to choose from and then they are turning away clients. read more

I went here for the first time today, and they are amazing. I cannot stress this enough that if you need to go to a veterinarian, go here. They made me feel welcomed and comfortable as well as my two cats. The vet seemed knowledgeable and friendly. He also wasnt trying to push extra services which was awesome. But they were a little rough with my little dog who was nervous. It would have been better if they let me hold her while they did the examination. I told them it was going to be better if I hold her but they said No. So if you have a dog thats scared of strangers if its possible for you to hold your dog be adamant about it. That's if you think you can safely hold your dog and keep them calm. Couldn't really tell if the vet tech was accidentally choking her or not. I wish they took the time to allow her to feel a little more relaxed rather than trying to go fast. I probably will go here in the future. But I'm going to make sure that doesn't happen again. read more

After a terrible experience with a well known local vet clinic, which had multiple vets and all the bells and whistles, degrees and fancy expensive tests, I decided with my now one year old standard poodle I needed one vet to see my dog regularly who would then know him better. When, as a new puppy Mac had a minor digestive issue, we worked through his problem with some testing, but not throwing every expensive test at him right away. In the end, it resolved just as Dr. Don thought it would. Clearly, one reviewer had a true emergency and should have immediately gone to an emergency vet. I value a vet who listens and answers any questions without my feeling rushed. I expect to use them as long as I have a dog. read more

For the obvious out of state who says that my review is by the staff or paid for by the vets, get a life dude. I'll meet you at the hospital & show my records to you to prove I am no shill for the vets, they are a 2 man operation so when they are not in surgery they are either seeing animals or a bit of off time. They used to also run a pet emergency room up in Dover DE, not sure if they still man it. So, yes, at times their waiting area is empty, my cats are not used to dogs & get upset by them so they try to not mix animals in the waiting area. read more

My little cat, Robert Orson had a skin condition that was driving him crazy. Brought him to another vet -- who offered injections etc. But here at Georgetown Vet, the doctor took a lot of time to figure out what was going on and he solved the problem. After 2 horrible experiences and boat loads of money at Savannah in Lewes I gave GAH a call and they (Dixie) gave me advice right over the phone without asking me to come in to pay for a "visit". Great place and just like the previous person, I paid an arm and leg at Savannah and they would throw pills down my dogs throat costing even more. With Georgetown, when I become the nervous parent I call them, they give me advice over phone and only if necessary ask me to come in. For that reason alone, they have my complete trust because I know they are not seeing me as a payday but as a client whom they treat fairly. read more

Excellent vets. Moved in from Philly suburbs and the staff and Dr Gooss took the time to get to know my puppy, even for regular vaccines. They took the time to review my dog's charts, gave him time to calm down before vaccinating him, and took the time to address any questions I had. I came in again as my dog started to get what looked like an ear infection, and they took care of him like he was theirs. Their pricing is also more then reasonable (I called around to several vets within the area). Would give them 6 stars if they allowed it. read more

I had been to Georgetown Animal Hospital a few times, for food, toenail cuttings, etc, and had been pleased. However a couple of weeks ago, my mini dachshund got stung by something in the yard, was getting hives on her head and around the mouth, and I called to ask if I could bring her in. I'm assuming they don't handle emergencies unless you have an appointment, as I was given an appointment for the following day. After about 30 minutes, she started throwing up and the swelling was a bit worse, so I called them back and got the same answer-their time was packed full and they couldn't see her until the next day. They did however recommend Savannah Animal Hospital in Lewes that would take emergencies so I went there. By the time I got her to them, her eyes were swollen shut and she was having a bit of difficulty breathing. They took her back immediately and started working on her. Thankfully, she is ok. I am not an alarmist with my animals...most of the time I handle problems at home, but I do know them and know when they need help. This was one of those times. I am extremely disappointed in Georgetown Animal Hospital, and very happy to have discovered Savannah Animal Hospital, my dogs' new doctor. Barbara Seltmann read more
