If I could give this place a no star, I would totally do it. Here are my reasons... To be honest, I was so disappointed and embarrassed to the point I couldn't press "check-in" on my Yelp app... 1) None of the men's and women's restroom were cleaned; it was super unsanitary to the point it reminds me of a dirty middle school or high school restroom. The toilets were all flooded and not flushed; couldn't even use the restroom even if I wanted too... 2) There is no designated place to purchase the tickets. You have to go to the food counter and buy them there. The team member there wrote the transactions all on a notepad, there was no receipt, and no physical ticket showing proof I purchase the movie tickets. The security bothered to care if I told him I have my tickets or not...since he was standing in front of the entrance before entering the show area, I would think he would check tickets first Incase people sneaks in, but no... he didn't care, so it feels like ANYONE can just walk in. 3) The seat area was very old and run down; it definitely felt like no one cleaned this room, since there was still food on the ground and the floors were sticky. The chairs felt so gross, that I felt so uncomfortable sitting there for too long... I immediately felt like I needed to go home and take a shower because it THAT dirty. 4) There were kids just loitering in the movie theater and movie hopping... Why aren't the securities doing anything about this? I'm definitely not coming back to this location... It's better off paying extra money for AMC locations for better experience and cleanliness especially. The only good part about this is that the student discount pricing made the tickets SUPER cheap, so it's SUPER affordable if you're a student. Georgetown cinema is one of the few locations which plays the Indian movies along with the Hollywood movies. To start with they have a pretty big parking lot. The ambience is mediocre and you dont feel that premium movie hall feel as soon as you enter the movie hall. They sell Pepsi products and no coke for coke lovers out there. This was a good basic cinema. What I really liked about this place is there is a bit of diversity here. The chairs and the projection are older so you won't get the reclining chairs and such but it is a clean theater with all the stuff you will get at those other newer theaters. I suspect for this reason this location gets a bad reputation and initial ratings. BUT I would go back if in the area. We were staying downtown and had a few hours before dinner so this was a convenient cinema to go to. There is plenty of parking given the cinema is located in a mall. So, I was totally wrong for not checking yelp prior to going to this establishment. So, to start with the parking lot was so scary dark. I had to make a decision between parking under the light super far away, parking illegally, or parking in the middle of nowhere. The facility was not very clean. The bathrooms in the front with dirty and So were the ones in the back. I actually told my daughter to "hold it" because I didn't want her to actually sit or squat over the toilet. This, was the very first time I ever said that. In the actual theater, it wasn't that bad. There was a faint odor in there. The only positive thing was that the theater was not very crowded. Not your usual movie theater. NO BOX OFFICE, which made it very confusing during SOLD OUT theaters. There was a person selling TICKETS ONLY at a table up front but if you wanted concession items there was a very long line. TOTAL chaos when parties had pre-paid tickets and did not know where to go. I guess it's called Georgetown Cinema "Lounge" because they have tables and chairs in the lobby because you definitely CANNOT lounge or even recline in the theater seats. I did notice that the 2 movies they offered were also shown in Spanish. The popcorn was okay, the hot dog was very good, condiments were in packages which made it difficult to apply and the soda was more like water than the Sprite I ordered. I didn't complain because I the popcorn and soda was included in the price of the ticket. As I said, the seats were old and uncomfortable and the floor was EXTREMELY sticky. The theater was basically clean, even the ladies' room, considering the amount of people in attendance at the same time. Not sure why, but the movie started 30 minutes late because of something happening with the theater. This is more of a $1.00 movie theater, a $9.00 movie theater. PRICE Ticket and food costs about 15% higher than AMC Trader's Point just down the road (which is a much nicer theater). How? Why? ACTUAL MOVIE EXPERIENCE Blown speakers and super small screens. Seats had some yuck on them. Though some would consider this in a "questionable area," it is a safe place to go if you want to catch a movie or two. Located down the street from Don's Guns, this is a great place to kill an afternoon and catch a movie that has either just come out or is at the end of it's run (because they have both options here!) Depending on the showtimes and the length of the movie's run in theaters, you can usually get tickets from $4 a person to $7, which I personally don't mind paying. Plus the movie run times will usually allow you to finish one, walk out and buy tickets for another with little time in-between, so you can make an afternoon outing out of it. The floors can be a little sticky, and there will be some interesting foreign film posters around, but overall it's a good place to catch a flick without having to shell out $14 a pop. read more

Seriously why is everyone in Indy so afraid of this area? It's not that bad. African American people are not as scary as the media makes them out to be. If you're that scared there is a security guard at the front just to help you feel better. Went to see a movie opening night and at AMC it was sold out 4 hours in advanced. Came here and we were able to get into a showing that began 15 minutes after we got there. The theater itself is small and not perfect. Oh how this place has slowly grown on me. This theatre is to the Westside as the trusty Dollar Show is to the Eastside. I thought my boyfriend was insane for bringing me here several months ago. Really? This theatre? I'm actually glad he did and now I suggest going here over other theaters. It is a no frills theatre next to a Sav-A-Lot. There is a Latin night club nearby so don't freak out when you exit a late show and the find the parking lot packed. I'm starting to enjoy this theatre more than the others because it is never really crowded and shows are rarely sold out. It's somewhat clean which means my feet don't stick to the floor. The popcorn is decent. The staff is actually fairly nice. Mostly young kids. They claim to have surround sound, but It always sounds flat to me. Like I said, no frills! It's just a place to go and see a movie without all of the hoopla and crowds. This keeps me coming back! Plus I want to check out one of the Hindi movies I hear they frequently show. One word of advice - double check movie start times. We missed the start of X-men because they had the wrong time listed on outside display. read more

Ok, I will admit that I had some reservations about coming to this movie theater. When I moved here a lot of my new friends told me to avoid Lafayette Square area and some of the businesses around it. That is probably why it's taken me so long to venture here. The theater is old, but clean and I liked that we had it pretty much to ourselves. The snacks and drinks were still expensive, but about $1 less than other theaters. #1 , the theater is NOT at Lafayette Square or on Lafayette Rd! It's on Georgetown Rd just off of 38th Street. I've been going there since 2006 with my grandchildren and I've never had a problem. The staff is polite , friendly and courteous. They also have security at night, just in case but as I said I've never had a problem . I'm a retired police chief . read more

The movie time was 7:15 pm, and at 7:25 pm I had to go out and ask one the employees at the concession stand to please start the movie. I waited 5 more minutes and then finally the screen came on. Everyone loves watching trailers of course, but since they started the movie late, they skipped a few of those too. They showed the first second of the trailer and then stopped it and skipped it, that really pissed me off. At the end of the movie, I could not even enjoy the animated conclusion of the movie because one of the employees basically kicked me out to clean the room. This happened on Tuesday 6/25/2018, the movie was the Incredibles 2, and it was scheduled at 7:15 pm. I was a big fan of this theater for the longest time and that's mainly because it's close to my house and cheap. Well that's now a thing of the past. New management is now making the prices higher.. okay. That would be fine if the theater didn't have the issues that it has. Everything from no heat, no air conditioning, terrible sound, cancelled show times, leaking roof etc. If you want to charge AMC prices, you can be expected to be on par with AMC's. I went here with a friend to see the spectacular Tarantino film "Django Unchained" and it was a good experience overall. It's a smaller theater with a sort of gloomy feel to it, but it's definitely not terrible. It's much cheaper than some of the other theaters in the Indianapolis area. The location is fine. It's in a more urban area of the city, which doesn't take away from the experience. The ticket buying process was a little obnoxious as you had to buy the movie tickets in the same line as you buy concessions, which made the purchasing process much longer than it should have been. There were separate kiosks for tickets, but they weren't open, and only two people behind the counter selling both tickets and concessions. This could be due to the theater being understaffed, or just financial troubles in general. Overall, this theater was a good experience with current films. read more

I used to go to this movie theater all the time as a kid and really enjoyed it so I assumed as an adult I would enjoy it even more. And boy was I wrong. Every time I go to this movie theater it is a terrible experience. The food taste old and the smell is too much to bare. It's been by far the worst movie experience I've ever had. This is not a bad theater and they do not over-charge (at least as much as their competition). They usually have a good selection of films and even have Indian films. Nice to see a little culture from time to time. No stadium seating, which is a drawback. Overall, it is a good experience. read more

Popcorn is not good the sound of the movie is loud and hurts you ear they don't turn off off all the lights I do not recommend it

I had a really bad experience here. I went to their advertisement Free Easter movie on a Wednesday night. Once in the theatre, nothing played for 15 minutes, I went to ask if I was in the right theatre and they told me yes. After another 5 minutes, a lady came in to tell me they were having technical difficulties and I could come see the free movie on another day...Then I was offered to see another movie that was showing for kids. which was either Smurfs of the Baby movie. The smurfs was 3d and I knew my 2yo wouldn't keep the glasses on, so we chose the Baby movie. I was directed to the theatre and what do you know...the movie ended after two minutes. I was super annoyed at this point and went to personnel. I was told "Oh you were in the wrong theatre" so I asked several times, how long the movie had been playing. Was told to go to yet ANOTHER theatre for the Baby movie and IT WAS ONLY PLAYING FOR 15 MORE MINUTES AND WAS ENDING TOO! I expressed my complete dissatisfaction with management. and she refused to comp me a pass to come back to see a movie. It was the most disorganized service I ever experienced. So I left, but was infuriated so I called on my way home and got Anthony or Joshua (cant remember name) who was the movie tech on the line and he promised to get the Bunny movie going if I were to come back. So I did and what do you know...there were STILL technical difficulties, so after ANOTHER 15 minutes we left the theatre AGAIN! He saw us and begged us to stay and he would correct the error. which he did. he comped us free concessions and gave us two movie passes (THANK YOU!!!) but overall it was a horrible experience.
