I visited here with my mom, who was visiting from out of town. She had called the bar earlier that day and spoke to one of the owners, Gene, who said "When you get here tonight, make sure you ask for me; I want to meet you in person!" Gene met us when we arrived and set us up at one of the private tables, where we enjoyed the music for around 3 hours! Our audience was an interesting mix of college kids and adults, but the performers were great at playing to their crowd. Drink prices are fairly priced, around $5-$12 depending on what you order, and we did not get a chance to try any of the food. Our only complaint was that it was sometimes a little hard to hear the performers speak, a minor issue that, if resolved, would have turned the great night into a perfect one! Regardless, Gene's hospitality and the fun vibe made this place a "must-visit" for my mom next time she's in town. It's definitely worth checking out! read more

Spent a Saturday night at Georgetown Piano Bar celebrating a 30th birthday. The service, venue, and drinks were on point. Gene took exceptional care of our group (roughly 20 people) by reserving several tables and ensuring that our guests were comfortable. The birthday sing-along by the pianist was very nice. The venue is conveniently located in the middle of Georgetown. The long island drinks were made well and were not watered down. Although I forgot the drink prices I believe they were reasonable. The piano player was fun I had a blast singing along to Wonderwall by Oasis! Overall, my group and I had a blast and would gladly return. read more

Don't miss GPB! Came twice during my trip to DC. It's impossible not to smile when you hang here. The piano players take requests- they know every song you can think of (including rap favorites). I love this ambiance of this bar if you're looking for a night out in Georgetown, but the pianists always play the exact same songs on what feels like a loop all night long and won't take requests unless you leave high tips (even then they don't always.) definitely a great spot for a girls night out and the bartender is extremely friendly and attentive. read more

I found this piano bar on a Sunday night. I didn't plan to stay long, as i had work the next morning, but ended up staying all night thanks to Spencer, the awesome piano player. He is such a talented musician, his singing is just beautiful, and he's so engaging! I couldn't believe how many songs he knew, he played some of my favorite songs on the radio, as well as the classics I love. I wasn't planning on eating there but the food looked really interesting and it was really good! I had the turkey and Brie panini and my friend got the grilled cheese, both of which we enjoyed. First things first: this is the kinda place to go when u wanna find a place to sit down, enjoy a drink and listen to some live piano music in a lively atmosphere. The piano man plays whatever you want and you'll recognize everything he plays. And the staff is amazing. Always willing to accommodate whatever the group size. Awesome dark hole-in-the-wall piano bar! Large enough to accomodate groups in the dark booths lining the walls. The drinks are simplistic and lacking in panache but are not the reason for patronizing this gin joint. Not cheap, but not overly priced and no cover charge. Just write your music requests on a napkin, add some cash & he will play your songs for you. The piano player ads a level of unintentional comedy that cannot be overstated. He plays everything from Nirvana & Alicia Keys to Billy Joel & Elton John. A fun place that will make you smile. (Except he wont play anything off Sprinsteen's Nebraska). Gets busy after 11pm with the college crowd. Ok that is an understatement! Think the whole Georgetown basketball team & groupies descend on the joint @ 11pm! I have quite enjoyed the Piano Bar at Georgetown every visit. I have come here for a couple years now. The bartender has always been attentive and professional. This person really knows what he is doing. The food can be a little pricey but it was well served and tasted great! The atmosphere is comfortable, relaxing, with dim lighting. However once the pianist arrives he/she sweeps through covers of various well known songs. It really is a nice place. I hope they stay for a long time. read more

Georgetown Piano Bar is a great place for music, food, booze, and friends. I have been here a few times over the past year. Whether with a large group or just a couple friends, the proprietors and piano men have been very welcoming. I always stay a bit longer than I expected because I'm having a good time. It's a great weeknight spot, even after the happy hour ends at 9PM. Atmosphere: A nice way to forget about work and instead focus on the music and friends. Food: They've really found their groove with food. The menu is uncomplicated, which helps maintain the quality. It is much better than the old Mr. Smith's menu used to be. I've had the Reuben and Tacos so far, both of which were really tasty. I definitely would recommend Taco Tuesday - You can't beat the price and the size. Music: The piano players are welcoming and ready to have a good time on any night of the week. The guy who plays Sunday-Tuesdays (Spencer) is incredibly soulful and a good conversationalist to boot. It's definitely worth sitting up at the piano. Perfect for: A big group, a few friends, or even flying solo - you're never alone when you sit at the piano. I was here on a Saturday night and LOVED the dueling pianos! The atmosphere was energetic, albeit the venue was kind of dark, divey, and damp. However, the amount of fun everyone was having while belting out tunes really shrouded any negative notions I had about the venue. It was so much fun overall. It was also intimate so it felt like all the patrons were all singing along together and were old friends. Tons of fun! The drinks were good, slightly watered down but not terribly so. The piano player was really excellent, and the atmosphere was awesome. Now for the bad part... the service was awful. Our waitress didn't check on us for 2 hours, and we had to order a drink at the bar. Worse than that: she added an automatic tip on our check. I find it simply scandalous. My friend was visiting from out of town so we wanted to fully explore Georgetown all day Saturday. Of course we started off with brunch at District Commons-lovely as always. By 5:00, we were hungry and looking for a happy hour with good appetizers. Georgetown Piano Bar looks like a sketchy dive when you first walk in; don't be put off by that. It's a bar, so don't expect superb customer service. However, the place wasn't busy so the bartender gave us time to look over the menu and took our orders. We both had rum and cokes (only $3 each I think because of the rail drinks happy hour special) and we started off with the shareable grilled cheese and spinach and artichoke dip. There are only five appetizers-those two, nachos, crab dip, and queso dip. The bartender kept our glasses filled and the food came out quickly, nice and hot. The place didn't start to fill up until about 6:30. Music was good and nice place to talk until the pianist arrived, then it's more of your typical bar scene. The live piano music makes it festive and fun and our pianist yesterday took requests. Let me tell you about the grilled cheese...the bread isn't just white bread but it almost has a texture like pretzel bread and they do not skimp on the cheese. The spinach and artichoke dip was great too, and wasn't so greasy or oily like it is some places that you can tell heat it up from a frozen package. We were still hungry so we ordered queso dip and another grilled cheese (it's cut into little squares to share) and neither disappointed again. This place is weird.. maybe it was an off Friday night around 12:00 am but blaring classical music and stools that hover 6" off the ground is not my kinda thing for Girls night. It was so loud we couldn't hear each other, the bar wasn't even that crowded so I'm not sure why it took us so long to get drinks. About halfway through my song, I got embarrassed and tried ducking out; however, the owner walked up and helped me finish the song. it was our first time here , atmosphere is fun this could be a place to start your night out in Georgetown , or I saw they had booths on reserve for parties , its fun to go out here when the club scene isn't for you , we got there early for the warmup show and ordered drinks and an app my husband said the beer was cold enough but high for bottle beer almost 6 dollars I believe it was , the crab dip was enjoyable by both of us , as was the cheesecake we shared. I got the margarita it was a little underwhelming , so the show, the warmup show was eeehh ..ok then the main show started a few min after 9 I believe the one guy hunter was great but he was sharing the other side with a guy who wasn't but I wonder if we were just sitting on the side that was better than the other of the piano . the sound wasn't great and early on we kept hearing the beep from the speakers I think cause they were to close to it all so I would say work on that and this place would be a-ok but eventually the piano guy moved things around and got the sound a little better . we left at 11 so I recommend coming a little early if you plan on getting a table and apps,ext .. or else its standing room or a barstool . the booths seemed roomy enough and comfortable to host a bday party ext.. read more

The bar is great, bartenders are quick and friendly, awesome atmosphere and nice crowd. The younger piano player is very talented but would do better with a different partner as a second piano player. The older man who plays is very mediocre. He plays a very basic version of every song. We requested MULTIPLE songs, a cash tip with each one. We were there from 9:00 pm - 2:00 am and none of our songs were played. The older man only pays attention to the extremely drunk women who dance behind him and pay attention to him, he plays every song they want even without money. I've been to many piano bars and was excited to be at this one at first, until I stayed hours waiting for my songs that were never played. Very disappointed, this show has the potential to be a lot better than what it is currently. read more

I've been to the Georgetown Piano Bar twice now. I can only give four stars because both times were on weeknights, so I can't speak to the weekend experience. Both times, the drink service was quick. The beer and wine selection was decent (and affordable). We didn't order off of the food menu because we'd just had dinner elsewhere, but it seemed that several other folks had ordered food from their menu. The performer (I believe his name is Spencer) was engaging, humorous, and polite - he even took the time to introduce himself during a break, which added a personal touch. Song requests were written and placed on the piano, and he made every effort to play each song requested or find a suitable alternative. What I found incredibly interesting was that there was a gentleman who had knowledge of the performers own music, and he played a couple of his own songs, which were really good, and a nice break from the typical music you'd hear. It is a great place to pop into for a drink and a few hours of live music. Be sure to add a few minutes to find parking, but that goes for anything in Georgetown. read more

This place is a joke. The bartender was swearing at the patrons and was using his hands to fill ice into glasses. The soda was flat and well liquor cheap. The drinks were weak and overpriced. We went there on Saturday night about 9. The bar was pretty crowded there was probably 80% women and 20% guys all different age groups so that was nice to see. There was only one piano player he did a great job a few people did karaoke but it was very lively and a lot of singing from the crowd. We ate some tacos and they were fantastic not so crazy about the nachos but I've heard the other food is excellent we will come back again next time we're in town. read more

My family had an appalling experience here last weekend. I am telling everyone I know to stay away from this place and their offensive customer service. One of my family members uses a wheelchair. I called three times throughout the day on Saturday, and was assured by three different staff members that that bar is wheelchair accessible. I made reservations, drove 45 minutes in Georgetown, and discovered that the bar is NOT wheelchair accessible. My entire family was understandably disappointed, and my mother respectfully asked the man "helping" us if he could please educate the other staff members about the accessibility situation, so that they could provide accurate information to future customers. This man had the audacity to start yelling at my mother! Actually screaming at her! As if it were her fault! We have never been so offended by an establishment. How dare you.
