Went to watch a World Cup match, wisely made reservations online. There was nothing available indoors but was able to get an outdoor patio table (temps were decent with low humidity). Called as well for confirm that our table would be near a big screen table. When we got there we were led to our reservation, tv view and sound were good. We requested and got an umbrella for the table for shading. The menu had World Cup specials as well as the usual happy hour menu. The outdoor bar area had a water jug for free refills so we can stay hydrated. I got a Sauvignon blanc, and tried some spritz drink as well. Very fitting for summer. Staff came by often to check on us but were not intrusive. Indoor area was nice but too loud (glad we dined Al Fresco). read more

This unassuming bar that serves great casual food and delivers some of the best service I have ever encountered just keeps rolling along. My spouse and I decided to treat ourselves on a beautiful Thursday night and - hold on - The Admiral was the place we selected. Ok, so it's halfway between our office and our house but even if it were WAY out of the way, we would gladly go there. The food is solid, the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, the service is always perfection. This time I had the Filibuster Smash Burger. OMG so good! A 4 ounce burger patty topped with shaved steak, some sort of sauce that kept it moist and tasty and some veggies to make my doctor happy. The menu said the sauce had jalapeno in it but there is not even a hint of spiciness on this burger. However, it is a total huge mess to eat so I had to eat like a grandpa, cutting the burger with a knife. But I didn't care because I loved this burger! My spouse had the All American Burger and he put the server through his paces asking for every topping to be served on the side. Sounds like a mean thing to do but the server gladly satisfied his wishes. To be honest, my spouse enjoyed the burger immensely and added only the toppings he wanted, in the amounts he wanted and there is nothing wrong with that. The place gets quite noisy, and they do have a large outdoor patio (I've noticed a lot of restaurants in DuPont circle are boomy and noisy with young people). Hard to talk at a non-club level volume of people talking over one another. Service was good. Paloma cocktail (9/10) was well made and the beer was fresh and cold (10/10). I ordered the American burger, and the beef tasted a bit off. The patty was not fully smashed and tasted overcooked. It was also dry, I had to dip every bite in ketchup. The sauce inside was bland, and overall, the burger lacked flavor and texture. The side salad, however, was fantastic! The arugula was fresh and generously portioned, and the dressing was delicious. But I didn't order a burger just to enjoy the side salad more than the main dish. With such a small menu and burgers making up a significant portion of it, this was a bit disappointing. Went here for the finale of the 2026 World Cup. The environment was causal and welcoming. Was drawn to it because the crowd was vast meaning it had to be good right? The answer is yes! Our waitress made the experience enjoyable and still was able to navigated through the sea of people effortlessly. She even promptly replaced the guacamole of someone's order at our table as there was hair in it. The wings were crispy and saucy, just the way I like it and the Brussels sprouts were nicely fried. This was my first time at The Admiral. It was a great experience. Everyone that we interacted with was very friendly. They have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Our waitress, Viola, was amazing! She was patient and really on it. The food was also delicious. We started with the Sampler Platter and everything was nicely cooked and had great flavor. I had the Kickin' buffalo Chicken Sandwich. It had some nice kick and a good amount of sauce. My teen loved the music and said who ever picks the music should get a raise! So after my friend and I finished up at a bar, we needed food and I found this spot which led us here. It was straight up LOUD when we arrived due to the music; so loud I debated on if we should stay but we decided on sticking here after seeing there were a couple spots at the bar and less of a crowd there. The bartenders are attentive and patient, answering any questions you have. After ordering a couple beers, I ordered the chicken wings and a side caesar salad while my friend got the fish and chips. The wings are crispy although dry on the inside; fortunately you got the ranch for that; probably not something I would order again given the quality and price. The caesar salad is fine; nothing special, just fine. The fish and chips looked delicious and my friend enjoyed it. I probably should've gone with that but it was a large portion and I wasn't trying to leave on a full stomach. It's breaded nicely with some parmesan fries and a garnish of slaw. I can tell it's a favorite here. Located in Dupont Circle, this seems to be a favorite of the younger crowd which would explain the blaring music; especially on a Wednesday night at 930ish. The restaurant interior gives an upscale elegant vibe that suites the DC scene. Maybe I'll come here for lunch or on the weekend if I'm in the area but I'm too old for the loud music now. I honestly don't even like nachos, but I haven't stopped thinking about the ones I had at the Admiral! Pulled BBQ chicken, warm queso, pickled onion, and jalapeño were amazing. The Admiral was the perfect space for my college alumni club's fall reception. They reserved an area with some tables outside on the enclosed patio, and we had access to the outdoor bar. We really appreciate how we don't have to pay to reserve the space, just commit to a couple platters from the catering menu and have our guests open their own tabs. The catering menu is expansive and reasonably priced. We were able to order and pay for food in advance, and they brought it out at just the right time. It was just enough space for folks to mingle and catch up after the summer. The team was communicative and clear throughout the booking process and met all of our needs upon arrival, including finding painters tape so we could hang a flag, which was a very thoughtful touch. Your nachos were ooey- gooey amazing- with a BBQ twist. The monte Cristo was - meh. The bread seemed soft like it was nuked. It's nothing we're not used to in DC and I understand it's on the street but to have them all over the place while you're trying to enjoy some drinks and the world cup is jarring. Co-hosted our holiday party here for a small group of 30. Food was pre-ordered and drinks were cash bar. This is another location that is in the Mission group. I arrived 30min before our start time and waited less than 5 minutes to be escorted to our area in the back. The service and food were great. The bartenders were great and drinks were received quickly. My only complaint was that we had to split a back area with another group. We had a little over 30 guests but they only provided seating for about 15 so many folks has to eat and drink standing up. We had one 6 seater, one 4 top and one half of a 6 seater. Booking an event is as simple as writing an email with the dates and times. You can do everything from full catering to everybody pays their own way. The food quality is consistently good. Really good happy hour deals. Chicken bites, sliders, draft beer, and some cocktails on their HH menu. Oh yeah, the French fries were really good with the beer so I recommend. Fantastic service. I had a drink that was terrible so the bartender made another drink for free. Terrible parking around this area so be prepared to walk at least half a mile if you are driving or take another form of transportation. It can get pretty loud in here and hectic with TVs, music overhead, lots of conversations. Recommend coming early and heading out early.
