Sunday afternoon delight. We were Pleasantly surprised with our visit to Georgia Blue. When you dine at 3 in the afternoon it can be hit or miss on both service and food preparation. We were seated quickly, but we were beginning to think we had fallen through the proverbial crack. We had time to completely review the menu discuss selections and even contemplate leaving. Fortunately Madelyn asked if we had been waited on, from that point on service was impeccable. I had the Panned Red Fish, my wife had the Mahi Sandwich. The plating of both dishes was very appropriate and appetizing. The sandwich vessel being fashioned from a pair of license plates was well done. I got the first bite of the Mahi sandwich, the flavones and texture popped In my mouth. The sourdough was beautifully toasted with just enough char to give enough flavor to go with an outstanding remoulade (more on this later), generously covering the Mahi, Be careful as it is juicy. Sweet potato fries were the chosen side and were a great choice especially since they were hot and fresh. My Paneed Red Fish with Parmesan risotto and steamed fresh broccoli looked very appetizing. I started with the fish by itself, it was nicely seasoned and cooked. The Risotto was beautifully done. It had a nice Parmesan garlicky flavor with some red onion bits that were tasty. The Redfish and risotto paired beautifully, every bite was truly delightful. Only thing I added was a bit of pepper to the entree. The broccoli was well cooked but under seasoned. It didn't add anything to the dish but was worth eating. Remoulade surprise... To my good fortune my wife began to get full and concentrated on her Mahi. Having laid aside her toasted sourdough provided me the opportunity to have the missing ingredient from my meal, bread. Even though there was still a generous amount of remoulade still on the underside the sourdough it still held a crunch and outstanding flavor. The Surprise was exponential increase in favors. I was stunned, I had just discover the missing ingredient that I had no idea was missing. It turned a good meal into an outstanding meal. It turned a nicely flavored meal into something with a bold flavor. I told Madelyn what a difference it made and she should tell her boss. I thought a manager might stop by, they never did. We will definitely return on our next trip to Jackson. I just hope they will let me order Remoulade toast on our return. read more

This restaurant is a bit schizophrenic, like it can;t decide whether it wants to be a destination for upscale southern food (20-30 dollar entrees) or a sports bar (lots of TV's and very loud) In spite of that, the dishes here are actually quite good. I do expect a better atmosphere when I'm paying this much for an entree, but the burgers and sandwiches are definitely worth a visit (the grilled mahi mahi and fried green tomato BLT in particular). read more

The service was pretty good. The food came out super quick and our drinks (water) stayed full the entire time. But holy moly, I guess it might just be because we are in Madison but these are one of those restaurants that you walk in to and look at the menu you immediately lose your appetite over the prices. Everything is $12+ and the average price on any entrée is $19. I highly encourage the restaurant to introduce a lunch menu with lunch prices. I just feel paying $60 for three people to have lunch is a bit ridiculous. Call me cheep, sure. But lunch should be priced $7-$12. Anyways, we had the fried pickles and the batter is awesome and thick. But bring some mints, the garlic is dangerous. We had friend tamales and the pulled pork nachos. Nachos were AWESOME. They were drenched in sweet honey BBQ. Tamales not so much..... They didn't really taste like actual tamales at all. I wasn't a huge fan. Anyways, for dinner I would say sure... A group of out of towners stumbled upon this place because it was next to our hotel and we were hungry. We were in town for the Trusted Choice Big I National Championship at Reunion. We ended up eating here 3 of the 7 nights in town. The beer was cold, the live music was great and they have one of the best hamburgers I have ever had at a restaurant. Recently, the draft beer selection had gotten better. More IPAs and better variety in general. Food is consistently good with decent prices. Compared to Burgers and Blues, food quality is much better, prices are slightly lower, and you don't have to venture near County Line. The food is also consistent which is nice if you find a favorite dish there. Glad they are in the Madison area and doing well enough to expand to Flowood and college towns. read more

The food and seems here is fantastic!! The turnip green bites and the crab fingers are phenomenal!! The catfish is so fresh; you would think they caught it right away. Our server was very attentive. The fried pickles were not really my thing. You have to love sour pickles. The bathrooms are very clean. The only downside is the cheese grits. They have corn in them. There was a crawfish sauce that comes with it. The crawfish sauce was very good. Overall I would definitely eat here again. read more

I'm from Texas and boy do I love burgers. I went by here yesterday and ordered the blues burger with the home style fries. The burger was okay was a decent size. I didn't really like the shredded lettuce they used. The fries were pretty good. Crispy on the outside soft on the inside. The sourdough bun didn't really compliment the burger well. I also had the Georgia peach drink. That was very good. Slightly sour because it had sweet and sour in there. Overall it wasn't bad but it wasn't the best. read more

First off, the service was excellent. Very friendly and attentive. However, the food just wasn't good. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with homemade potato chips. The grilled chicken sandwich was so overcooked and dry that I had to tear pieces off like beef jerky to eat it. Meanwhile the potato chips were undercooked and soggy. Most everyone else in my party was disappointed in the taste of their meal too. The burgers received the same complaint about being tough that I had about my chicken, and one person even had to request new French fries after his came out cold. The one very satisfied person in our group ordered the Mahi sandwich, which may be the diamond in the rough here as the waitress mentioned it was her favorite item on the menu. First the good. This place has a great blues/Jazz feel and bit of a Nashville touch. The atmosphere wasn't too loud and the wait was only a few minutes. I had real high hopes for this place. Home style fries are great. Seafood pasta was amazing and had wonderful flavor. The chicken wings were great and cooked perfectly. Now for the bad! The baked chicken was covered in pepper. Not a tiny bit of pepper but crushed pepper to the point we could barely see the chicken. The chicken was cooked perfectly but we could only taste pepper. So I don't know how the chicken actually tastes! I ordered a hamburger steak with cheese. I received a cold hamburger steak on top of hot mashed potatoes! Which proves the hamburger steak could have only been frozen. The hamburger was perfectly oval, chard all around the edges and yet it was still cold. Also, my cheese was not on the steak, i received a small cup with shredded cheese. This is beyond comical. The waiter was helpful and immediately took the food back for corrections. The manager came to me after 10 minutes and said it will be another 20 minutes before a simple hamburger steak is ready. At this point everyone at my table finished eating. Sorry, I refused the offer as had better food at Wendy's. But frozen food? Come on! read more

This is locally owned restaurant so I hope everyone continues to eat here. It's always packed so I'm sure that will not be a problem. The atmosphere is good, family friendly, and upbeat feeling though sometimes the live music can be a bit deafening. The service is hit or miss depending on the night and staff. Sometimes it's great and sometimes it's just not so great. I've never had truly awful service. The menu is absolutely massive, which is usually a sign of a mediocre restaurant and in this case that's true. The food I've had has all been fine, but I've had nothing to rave about. Think of an expensive locally owned Chile's or Applebee's. There is certainly something for everyone on the menu. Most menu items seem a bit overpriced but it's not crazy expensive. Nice place if your entertaining out of town guest or meeting up with friends but there are certainly better options. read more

Came here tonight and had a great time! It has great food and a laid back environment. The menu is unique. I had the Fried Green Tomato BLT which had praline bacon and it was unique and awesome. My wife had the Shrimp and Grits which is more like a Corn and Shrimp Bisque version but was really really good. We ended up sharing each. I liked the environment, food, and we had good service. While staying in Madison, I asked the front desk team at my hotel where they would go for a good meal. Although there was what appeared to be a reputable place in their parking lot they all sent me to Georgia Blue. Man was I happy! After a long day on the road I found Jessica to be a fun and engaging bartender/server. She walked me through the menu and pointed out her personal favorites while I sipped on a perfectly made old fashioned. Her choices were spot on. She was attentive and engaging, at one point coercing me away from my phone and into conversation with her. The food was homemade and tasty. Homey without trying to hard or being over indulgent. I strongly recommend coming in, joining Jessica at the bar and enjoying her quick wit, great cocktails, and a great meal! I'll be back! read more

This restaurant is very well decorated with tons of vibrant colors and posters. They have a wide selection of beers and wines and happy hour between 4-6. The service was great and I felt very welcomed. I highly recommend Brenda, our server! As for the food, we ordered the turnip bites which were breaded and fried perfectly. However, they just tasted like fried mozzarella sticks in a ball form. For the entrees, we ordered the shrimp and grits and the bayou catfish. The portions are very large. The shrimp were fresh. The dish itself was drenched in a cheesy cream sauce which was too salty for my liking. After a few bites, the dish was simply too heavy for me to continue. Food is always great. My favorite go-to is the salmon and the mahi sandwich, but we've also enjoyed salads, po-boys, shrimp or crawfish & grits and more. There is so much to choose from, and we enjoy the variety. Desserts are fabulous too. Acoustics aren't great, and it does get loud in the side room on busy weekends. So incredibly disappointed. We called in a to-go order and were excited to try some of the delicious things we saw on the menu. Boy oh boy.... We were told it would be ready in 10-15 minutes. Alright, cool. We got there at about 20 min after the call in time. Told the hostess and she simply said "ok." Um, okay. Thinking the order wasn't ready yet, we waited another 15 min. At this point, we're getting upset. After flagging down a passing server, we ask her to check on it... No response. Asked the two people working the front again, and neither of them budged to check on it or update us on the order. Isnt this part of your job? Do you have a thing against people that place pick up orders?? Absolutely horrible service. Obviously (about 45 min after placing the order now) we left. I'm all for giving restaurants a second chance, but I am not sure this time around. I guess there's a reason why I see so many yelpers commenting on the bad service. read more

Just 2 of us decided to eat here for dinner on a Saturday while staying overnight in a local hotel. We thought we were coming for southern cooking type food, like chicken fried steak and chicken fried chicken, but I guess that was only for lunch. We sat at a 2 top in the bar and someone immediately took our drink orders and gave us menus. Our drinks were brought out, but then we waited about 10-15 min before someone took our food order. We split the creole spinach dip and crab cake po-boy with homemade chips. The food was really good. It just took a long time for our food to come out. Service did get better and it was busy, but not too busy (we got there about 5:45). Food was expensive but plentiful so splitting was a good idea. Everything had a great flavor and was hot. I really really wanted Georgia Blue to be good today but sadly I was disappointed once again. This will be my last visit. Upon entering for lunch we were completely ignored by all three employees at the hostess station. I walked up, asked for a table and was told it would be a minute. Not what's your name, not I'm sorry, just it will be a minute. Then the same girl walks off with someone who appears to be a manager to deal with a large party. A few minutes later girl number two asks how many in our party. This girl was right up front when we previously asked for a table for two. Sigh.....we were walked to our cramped table to await service. Server arrives for our drink order. We want drag beer. Easy enough you say? We asked for a list. The server provided a list and said some taps were down and to ask about any we were interested in. The first four beers hubby asked for were a no. All were out. Should of just told us what was available. On to the food. This pace was excellent when they first opened and have gone down hill since. My sandwich was literally toasted on just one side and arrived toasted side up. I had to pick it up and take a bite to discover the weirdness. Had it been properly toasted it could have been good except they ruined it with store bought pre-shredded lettuce!! Gross! Could not believe a place like this would serve such crap. Hubbys Happy plate was no better. Don't even bother. Lackluster service and fast food quality meals. My onion strings were cold. Hubbys cheese sauce congealed and lukewarm. I am so disappointed and wish I would have complained on the spot. I hate sending food back but should have done so today. $50 lunch for two with tip should be a whole lot better than this.
