Aggie's is a fun, hip bakery and cake shop that been around for a really long time. I was excited to finally try a "cake shop" although I didn't get cake on this trip, I would try another time! There's a great seating area, a nice display of all the baked good made fresh that morning, and an opportunity to grab a cup of coffee too. I had asked the person working behind the display what their most popular baked goods were and I was met with silence and then a "everything is good." I was slightly peeved by my interaction here and didn't let it fully deter my review of the baked goods themselves. I had the apple dumpling after seeing decent reviews about it on Yelp. The pastry wasn't at all flaky or buttery but rather hard and biscuit-like. Maybe I went in with the wrong expectation of what an apple dumpling was but it wasn't what I had wanted exactly. It leaned more sweet and glaze heavy than it did cinnamon spice. Overall, would recommend checking out Aggie's for their longstanding history in the Milwaukee area. It just wasn't for me!

This may be the first home baker I've purchased from (keyword - purchased - haha, though, maybe if…read moreI paid family for baked goods, I get them more often? But no need, since I discovered CupKate!). First off, it's awesome that this is a vegan operation, I'm not vegan but I've always thought vegan-friendly options to be options for pretty much everyone! She has proven that you don't need eggs to make a good cupcake. I personally ordered an assortment of 4: Choco-Raz Swirl Cupcake, Gluten Free Cookies and Cream Cupcake, Margarita Cupcake, and a Chocolate Stout Cupcake. I really enjoyed the hidden Oreo cookie on the bottom the Cookies and Cream one; the frosting of the Swirl was great too (could taste the distinct flavor of raspberry). The pickup process was also contact-free, you just open a purple tub sitting out on her porch and take your order to go. You'll see a "CupKate" logo on the door to help you confirm you're in the right place. I'm definitely going to try this again soon.

The carrot cake cupcakes I ordered are AMAZING! And I'm super picky about carrot cake. They are extremely moist and you can taste the nuts in every bite (which is my favorite)!! The frosting wasn't piled too high either so no need in scraping some off. I will definitely be ordering again to try some of her other flavors!!

But i meant to, because it's awesome!! and when I say, "place" I really mean woman who bakes these cakes, because there's not a physical location. I got my BF a specially made b-day cake that was chocolate with peanut butter frosting. Adorable custom decorations!! And #&*$#&*#*#. One of the most delicious cakes I have every tasted. Everyone at the party was just flummoxed by how good it was. Then I told them it was vegan, they about lost their minds. Everyone agreed it was freaking amazing no matter what! Well, for my birthday, the BF returned the favor and got ME a bday cake. The decorations were just beyond adorable (she does very custom work for every order). The cake itself was red velvet and was so rich and moist. This lady does cake right!! I've also seen some super cute cookies she has made -- hope I get to try them one day :)

*Update* After seeing my review this is the response I…read morereceived from this "professional": Wow, you really have a lot of time on your hands to now go and post a bad review about my business. Go to hell **I've updated again based on this "businesswoman's" response to the review. She claims she was verbally assaulted. I've attached my email to her stating I was disappointed. If anything I believe telling someone to go to hell is a bit more insulting and maybe I should feel verbally assaulted? This lady really is a class act See original review below: Let me start by saying that the prices displayed on the website are absolutely fictitious. Secondly Judi was very short and rude in her correspondence as soon as I began asking clarifying questions. I requested a quote for one of the most simple designs on her website, from a page that stated that an 8" cake will serve up to 25 people and begins at $54.99. I've attached the picture from the website for reference. All I asked to be changed was the color of the accent icing from blue to pink and silver to gold. When she responded she quoted an initial quote of 20 servings at $75 and 30 servings at $95 (on the website a 10" cake serves up to 38 and starts at $76.99). When I inquired as to why the price jumped $20 she only responded with "My pricing is based on added decorative details that are added to the cake. Please advise." ... okay... so I confirmed we were talking about the same cake and then asked how much it would be without the bottle and pacifier, literally the only two pieces of decoration. She said to subtract $10 from her quotes, again not trying to explain anything. Just very short and rude. So basically, a plain iced cake is $10 more than the quote on the website. I wonder what type of product you would get for the actual price on the website, perhaps simply the cake batter? I'm so sick of businesses gauging their customers for every little thing. Is it really too much to ask that they have some integrity and actually respect their customers or potential customers?
