The bowl was really good using fries instead of rice honestly made it hit way harder. The chicken was juicy and well-seasoned, and everything on top tied together really well without feeling too heavy. The combo plate was just as solid. The chicken was tender, the beef had a nice char and flavor, and both tasted fresh. Portions were generous too--definitely didn't feel like they were skimping. Everything tasted authentic and well-made, not dry or bland like some Mediterranean spots can be. Sauces brought it all together without overpowering the meat. Service was quick and the spot has a casual, no-frills vibe--just good food that comes out fast. Overall, really solid Mediterranean spot in Riverside. This gem is located in the 'Canyon Crest Towne Centre' shopping center near Ralph's with plenty of parking. I had their 'Beef Shawarma' Plate which consists of rice, topped with beef, 2 cold sides, 1 sauce, and piece of pita bread. I had the hummus and potato salad as sides, which were both excellent choices. The beef was tender and flavorful and the garlic paste was a great addition. We have been to numerous Mediterranean restaurants and I think this one gets an outstanding prize. Two things really stood out for me: 1. The overall taste was delightful, in particular, the Chicken wrap I had had a special memorable taste. The chicken was done nicely keeping the meat juicy. There were also generous amounts of meat in the wrap. 2. For the lamb Shish kebab bowl, we got salad only, so it was like a lamb salad. I was surprised that there were 6 or 7 large pieces of lambs, they were tender and delicious. Their garlic sauce and Tanini sauce were both lovely. Services from the counter and chef from kitchen were both prompt, friendly, and helpful. There are both inside and outside seating, both clean and comfortable. I myself ordered the 3 kabob combo plate with the steak being the star of the show cooked to perfection. Everything had good flavor and we really enjoyed it. The reason why i had to give 3 stars was because of the wait time. So 4 of us all ordered separately but at the same time (one after the other). 3 of us received our food about 15 minutes after i say and they were busy with to go order so we understand. But our 4th friend did not get her food til 30 Minutes after. At about 20 minutes i did ask and they assured me it was coming out soon but still took a while to come out. By that point the rest of our food was cold. So overall the food was great but the service/ time it took to receive was a bit of a let down which is unfortunate. read more

Great food, and probably my favorite local Mediterranean. They season much more heavily than Fufu's or Luna Grill; I especially liked the rice, which had a deep umami. Fairly interesting sides here too, like the potato salad. Spicy hummus was a little on the sweet side, but I enjoyed it, albeit it did spoil fairly quickly even in the fridge. And of course the meat was good, if fairly standard. Not much to reinvent there, but the portion size was decent, the meat was well marinated, and the char was good. I had mine with garlic sauce, which was delicious. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's not a whole lot of space inside, but there's a nice patio--and Canyon Crest is a nice place to eat outside as long as it's not too hot.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Otherwise, the to-go packaging is decently secure. Just keep in mind that everything will very quickly get wet, since the boxes don't have any vents. Anything crunchy (like falafels) will need some time in an air fryer too. read more

Ive been here before. The food is an okay substitute since Zankou is nowhere in the area. However, management is rude. Upon arrival the sweet girl at register was on the phone with a particularly difficult customer asking for something they don't normally do (32oz baba ganoush alone instead of coming with family meal). The girl was helping her as best she could and the manager (or possibly owner) was extremely rude telling her to move out of his way, trying to hurry her off the phone (basically treat the phone customer rudely). The managers arrogance and rudeness is typical middle eastern chavanism. I work with a Persian Surgeon who has the same rude arrogance and belittling attitude. Excusing rude behavior for culture is absurd to me. Kudos to the girl for still working there. This experience was awkward. The top right is 'tzatziki' it tasted terrible. I'm not sure if it was bad or maybe their own version of tzatziki but I definitely would not get this side again. The spicy hummus and meats were good. Although I did find like two small pieces of skewer sticks in the meat so be careful. The rice was kinda mushy. I also got a chicken shawarma wrap and garlic fries. They were delicious. Every dish included Med. yellow rice. The rice was flavorful. My beef was tender and had a good taste. The shrimp and chicken had a good seasoning.
